Someone on Reddit said Circle was amazing.

No wait times, easy interface, professional execution, etc.

I know there's a group of people in the BTC community who have temper tantrums about Circle, but if I don't have to wait a fucking week for my Bitcoins to be available, I will switch tomorrow.

Or today.

Disclaimer:  I havent even been to the circle website yet.  Just was reading Reddit recently.

The very fact that you can "own stock" in a talent of some sort, is revolutionary. Imagine if you had seen Nirvana in concert before they blew up with "Smells like Teen Spirit" ?  Imagine if you just knew ... JUST KNEW ... these guys were going to be huge.  You saw the talent.  You wished you could cash in on your prediction.  Now you can.

Everyone I tell this story to hates Nicki Minaj but I knew she would become huge in her genre.  I remember sitting there 5 years ago with a group of friends telling them she was going to blow up soon.  I knew it was going to happen, and I actually said out loud:  "I wish I could buy stock in her, rather than have to buy stock in the stupid record label.  Assuming they're even publicly traded".

Likewise, I own my own online social networking website with several hundred thousand users.  I am seriously considering adding this tool to the site, to encourage participation, draw content writers out of my audience, and engage my users with a profitable stake in our community.  Everything about this concept is brilliant.

A scam?

That has generated $13 million in investments in the last two weeks.

And $3 million in the last 24 hours alone.

Hmm.

388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin Holders: Will you continue to hold or convert to Bitcoin? on: August 05, 2014, 06:44:18 PM

I see significantly more the "zilch" on the horizon.

I determine the potential of a currency to have long term staying power and value increase .... entirely based on what businesses are considering accepting it as a payment option.  And subsequently which consumers will be getting paid in it, and ultimately spending it.  When I say Zilch, I mean I see Zilch on the horizon as these factors pertain to LTC.  Have you seen otherwise?

There was a short period of time last year where everyone loved to say LTC is silver, BTC is gold.  That phrase, I am sure, drove most of the price value increase speculation for Litecoin. And it was 100% speculation.  There was no, and still is no infrastructure for Litecoin anywhere.  Maybe a business or two is accepting Litecoin (usually along with Dogecoin, much to my chagrin).  But LTC price has never been based on infrastructure or startups or VC funding.  Its been 100% speculation.

The Gold / Silver grouping phrase has now died out.  If it had maintained, I could see some forward-thinking businesses adding both coins, as a "package", to meet different purchasing needs of their customers. But I am seeing no plans of this on the horizon anywhere.

Its all Bitcoin.  And that makes sense.  Because whether or not Bitcoin is the best option, its the first option, and basic knowledge of sociology / human behavior dictates that they will stick with something familiar, because it feels "safe".  The one with the most infrastructure, and most rich people invested in it, ensuring its continued success.

The Network Effect is more powerful than a bunch of accurately-critical crypto enthusiasts who know the ins and outs of the functionality of many types of coins. None of that matters.  At all.  Except in this little microcosm.

Doesn't help that when I go to the Litecoin Reddit, nobody is posting.  A thread or two per week max.   Not a good sign.

You guys weren't at the Miami conference where 20+ media people mobbed Vitalik when he got off the stage.

So that tells me that what bitcointalk kids think, means a pile of shit in the real world.

I just wish sometimes your conclusions matched.  Because I have no idea who to listen to right now.  :-/

390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Litecoin Holders: Will you continue to hold or convert to Bitcoin? on: August 02, 2014, 10:26:56 PM
Posted this on Reddit and got basically no responses.  Still wondering:

I'm really not sure what to do. I have significant Litecoin holdings. I've been holding out for that next Bitcoin spike were LTC also goes up. I planned to cash out at that point. But it's just not happening. And seeing the decoupling of the two price trends, when they were so closely tied for so long, further concerns me.

Those of you holding relevant amounts of Litecoin: Are you going to convert to Bitcoin pretty soon here? Or is there still some indication out there that LTC will be the next welcome currency after Bitcoin?  To businesses.  etc.  If we base this on infrastructure and merchant adoption, we are looking at pretty much zilch on the horizon.

Will we get one more spike in price? Or should we convert to Bitcoin now...

I dont always agree with Franky, but ..... nailed it.

392  Economy / Speculation / Re: You guys need a reality check on: August 01, 2014, 12:20:06 AM

4) 5,000-7000 new bitcoins come into existence every single day.

This is evidence that Bitcoin is doing quite well for its youth.  Nearly $4 Million in new bitcoins flood the market *every day* and yet the price is stable.

That means demand is meeting supply.   That means people are buying $4,000,000 worth in bitcoins every day, doesn't it?

393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We already passed the tipping point of BTC on: July 31, 2014, 11:49:56 PM
maybe 2014 is THE braketrough year for bitcoin

When you say 'brakethrough', you mean the year that it has the brakes on through the whole year, right?

Yes.  Dont forget the "hunderts of millions of VC Money" as well.

Apologies to everyone.  American Schools.  You know how it goes.

invalid image.

And what is Jeproady?

Are you being sarcastic?  He means the tv gameshow 'Jeopardy"

That was my first thought as well, but he may be from a different country.

LOL insane.  After this many posts, didn't you realize you misspelled it?

That's what he was pointing out.  LOLLLLLLLLL(zzz)
395  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook's BUY button! Bitcoin's big moment is here on: July 29, 2014, 07:35:14 PM
Just imagine you sell or buy with just a click on facebook using bitcoins, This is an opportunity bitcoin should grab, and facebook should not miss!

Why did you intentionally phrase the title of this thread as a fact ?  Rather than phrasing it like the "fantasy" which appears when someone actually goes inside the thread?

I hate people who do that.  You're annoying.  Stop.

396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NFO] Ethereum = Scam on: July 26, 2014, 12:39:44 AM
Its funny how everyone calling it a scam can't even spell it right.

Reminds me of Bitcoin detractors.

PS:  to all dummies out there - scam implies intent to defraud.  It does not include bad ideas.  Poor business plans.  Lame technologies.  Bad businesses that suck.  Bad development teams that don't deliver.  It implies INTENT TO DEFRAUD.  Stop misusing the term scam.

ahametals.com leeches off of other sites by copying their articles. It would be better if you posted links to the original articles rather than to your own site, so that the original site gets the traffic.

here you go, the original source. The OP linked article even copied the same horrible graphic to go along with the article.

Maybe he copied it because Forex Minute website is a fucking visual disaster when trying to read articles on mobile.

I can't see anything written because their banner ads block all the content.  You'd think one of them might use a cell phone to view their own site sometime.

398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Address Monitoring Services - any risk? on: July 24, 2014, 05:58:58 AM
Not worried about securing the key, but instead drawing attention to the wallet.

Moreso the "risk" associated with saying "Hey!  This wallet has X bitcoin in it!"

Versus not using the service, and no other human really ever noticing it exists....

Make any sense?
399  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Address Monitoring Services - any risk? on: July 24, 2014, 05:06:18 AM
Based on how Bitcoin works, and your knowledge of the overall Bitcoin ecosystem, blockchain, addresses, wallets, hackers, etc ...

Is there any risk of entering your public addresses into a monitoring system, to make sure your balances are always there, and no coins are moving?

Simply put - its drawing attention to the existence of the address, whereas it may have never been seen on the network previously.

Then again, when you load BTC onto an address, it has been "seen" on the network.

But that doesn't mean the dude who made your iPhone app knew about it.  Until you load it onto his app.

Now you've got an address with some serious money in it, and some dude knows its there.

Any risk?
