Has anyone heard that Swarm switched from Counterparty to Colu?
382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: October 09, 2015, 06:08:22 PM
Since Symbiont is funding Counterparty and says it's a 'core aspect' of their toolkit, I doubt it's 'nearing a standstill'.

Hard to say.  And that's the "problem".  Not a problem for Symbiont but a problem for XCP investors.  The recent price action is obviously a reflection of the lack of communication from Symbiont regarding Counterparty.
383  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Spells of Genesis - Innovating Trading Card Games with the Blockchain on: October 09, 2015, 05:46:45 PM
The assets are completely free to use. If you want to use "SATOSHICARD" asset for example in your game there is nothing that refrain you to do so. The assets itself is not copyrighted.
But the illustration, the card name, story etc is copyrighted. So if you want to use it in a third party game you need EverdreamSoft's approval. But if you have a project we are happy to hear about it.

Can you clarify this a bit, it's getting confusing.  So if we own a satoshicard asset we can only use it in your game but you also just said, "The database can be modified and altered or even shutted down by the game studio. You don't have full ownership of the magic sword." So I can own the satoshicard but only use it in games that you sanction/approve?  Undecided

I'm not an official SoG guy, but he's saying that you can use the Counterparty asset which represents the SoG card for anything you want.  If, for example, a different company issues digital game cards for use in their own game and those cards are only held in their own proprietary database, you don't actually have control over those game cards.  He's pointing out why the SoG approach of storing the cards they issue on the Bitcoin blockchain by making them Counterparty assets is better for the end-user.  They are under your control.

I don't understand how this game can be securely played on a blockchain. Is this an online Vs. another real human game?

The game is played like any other game. You don't "play" on the blockchain.
We are using the blockchain to store game asset and thats the main difference with other games. When you purchase lets say a "magic sword" in Dragon&Dragon (fictive name) this magic sword is stored in the game database. The database is fully controlled by the game developper. The database can be modified and altered or even shutted down by the game studio. You don't have full ownership of the magic sword.
In spells of Genesis your magic sword is stored on bitcoin blockchain. This means you are free to do whatever you want with the asset, give, sell, exchange etc. No one can take the asset from you unless they control your private key

Suggestion: talk this point up more.

If Counterparty team keeps the current pace, I think it will be overtaken sooner or later.

Since the current pace is nearly a standstill, I would have to agree.

How many new coins do these federated/centralized miners mine every day?

I believe the inflation rate is 20% the first year.

Is there a timetable by when Boolberry will be storable (available as supernet asset) on the supernet wallet?
since it doesnt have multisig and also not compatible with bitcoin RPC, MGW wont work for it.
there would need to be some sort of custom gateway for this and that is not currently one of my projects

Does that mean it won't be tradeable via InstantDEX for the foreseeable future?

No. The Entry Credits are burned. Entry Credits are non transferable. They can only be used to buy entries. But when they DO buy entries, the Factoid in the protocol that was used to buy the Entry Credits is released.

Released may be a bad term for that.  THOSE factoid never come back, but the federated servers that process the entries will get a block reward.  So in effect, they are release, but it is really new factoids.  The inflation is meant to counter the deflation of destroying factoids.  Entry credit price (per factoid) varies inversely to market price.  That is supposed to be pegged to market price.  The market just became active, so that isn't automated yet.  It will be by the time the whole system (all federated servers, etc) is released.  Cheap factoids will mean few Entry Credit per.  Expensive factoids buy many entry credits.

So 20% inflation plus spent/used Factoids replaced by new Factoids?

20% inflation in the first year?  Now I see why the price is tanking.

Yes but the coins that are used get burned so I would think that nullifies the high inflation rate.

My understanding is that the Energy Credits are burned. However, the Facotoms used to buy them are released to the Factom Nodes sort of like a block reward.

That was my understanding.  We need clarification on this.

How do factoids get sent back to the protocol? Is it a kind of burn?

Funny to see all the discussion about the amount of coins, as if this is what is going to really determined FACTOM's actual market value. There is no way to determine this right now until the tech starts being used by countries, companies or private individuals.

Don't forget the "supply" in supply and demand.

I've been using gentoo for years. Now, to save time, I'm using mostly ubuntu.

Tough pill to swallow.

I tend to prefer to build programs myself; most of the times the linux binary is not available anyway (and there are reasons for this).

You got that right.

Thanks, I'll wait for the global test network, then.
Hopefully the software will be easy to build if one, like me, uses linux and doesn't rely on precompiled binaries.

Gentoo?

Have you seen the FAQ page ? http://factom.org/faq

I searched there. But I did not find an answer for it.

I've never been able to get an answer to that question either.

Viva thanks for your enthusiasm

We are going to issue statement every month (if time and ressources allow it) about BitCrystals we received.
But in any case blockchain is transparent so everything is auditable.

The sales are going pretty good I have to say. And we are planning to continue with a constant growth.
All the BitCrystals incomes from the bot are forwarded to our wallets. BitCrystals stays there until we publish the report. When we publish the report we move half to the burn address and half to our company wallet. If you don't want to wait the report you can audit theses address

Regarding the 12 words from Koinify...

The import process does not sweep them into a new address.  They are still valuable unless you actively send the factiods to a new address in your wallet.

do not publish them unless the balance shows zero when you do a "factom-cli balances"

At first that seems contradictory to your comment here:

Quote
If you receive factoids to your wallet (outside of the one from koinify), and delete the wallet, there is no recovery.

So if I import my Koinify factoids to a factom wallet and I don't transfer them from there, I can recover that wallet and my factoids with my 12 words and I don't need to back up the wallet?
400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: October 06, 2015, 12:18:46 AM
Brian, can you tell me if the 12-word Koinify keyphrase can be used to re-import a wallet once it has already been imported into a factom wallet?

There is a 1 to 1 relationship between the 12 words and a Factom key.  That key can be present in multiple wallets.
https://github.com/FactomProject/FactomDocs/tree/master/token_sale

The wallets themselves generate their own keys based on a seed.  If you receive factoids to your wallet (outside of the one from koinify), and delete the wallet, there is no recovery.

The wallet has a deterministic seed, but recovery from old backups is not programmed into the wallet yet.  you should backup the wallet after every new address is created.

So once I've received my Koinify factoids into my factom wallet, there is no need to protect my 12 words and I may as well publish them?
