ok, but I'm really busy now, will get to it as soon as I have some free time.
Awesome, thanks!

the release 0.9.5 OSX version won't work on Lion (at least on mine anyway)

I've fixed it, now it should work with Lion onward.

Feel free to download if you trust me (I promise it's clean)

https://copy.com/WBQGwg1EOHqaMCks
That is great, would you be willing to help get those fixes into the official wallet? You could make a pull request on github I guess. Or send Bryce the changes directly.

Just in case you haven't visited the new website yet, here are some of the features:

  • Trading volume and prices from 4 exchanges: Cryptsy, Mintpal, AllCrypt and Coins-E
  • UNO statistics like blockcount/-reward, total amount of coins, difficulty and nethash
  • Download the latest wallets or find online/paper wallets
  • Links to mining pools, services and our social network communities
  • New animated intro to UNO, took some cues from the community for that one to illustrate the uniqueness of Unobtanium

Basically everything from the OP and more, just nicer to look at and easier to navigate. Wink

To celebrate the new wallet release I have prepared a little update for our website.
Go have a look at unobtanium.uno.

Changelog:
- updated graphics and layout
- added new animated intro to UNO
- links to the new wallet
- more coin statistics
- block reward and nethash graphs
- added a new pool
- minor bugfixes and tweaks

If you like the site and feel generous, here's my UNO tipping address: uewrE9QWc54EXjCZehWDPkjqgsyRDpQmK8

Is this coin still alive ? Can I solo mine ?
TBH right now the coin is on life support:

-> The blockchain is stuck (due to high difficulty and no nethash) and probably forked (different block numbers on different pools and block explorer), no one appears to have any real clue right now how to fix this.
-> Kreibich (founder) is asking his programmer to find a solution for the difficulty problem.
-> Once that is here we can attempt to revive this coin together, or burry it once and forever I guess.

Anyone mining should try to pick the "correct" fork of the chain, which I guess is the one from the official mining pool.

Just wanted to say hi, been lurking here for a while and am happy to see the community is rallying to prevent this great coin from dying. I've been quietly adding buy support over the past weeks and am happy to see the coin has now finally stabilized and recovered at least a little bit. Good base to start rebuilding from now!

Probably a stupid question, but how do you make sure people are not voting multiple times, on reddit, here and ond fb?

It's quite possible that there could be multiple votes across different social networks. I encourage voters to get their votes in a maximum of 3 times. Long term member votes will be weighted and rated stronger while new or "shill" accounts won't count at all. The results will then be averaged together and if there is not a clear outstanding winner we will have a tie breaker round which will take place here only.
Just wondering how you will weigh PoS vs. PoW votes. It looks like PoS is the clear leader right now, but if you add up the different PoW algos it looks like PoW is actually still more popular overall (17 PoW vs. 22 PoW). Will you take that into consideration, instead of only looking at the individual results?

Hey guys! I want to inform that I'm very dedicated to HMY development, but I'm getting married tomorrow so developments will slow down for a couple weeks. when I get back, we will launch a couple of new fantastic features Wink!
Congratulations, enjoy your honeymoon!

In the words of the great Encyclopedia Galactica: DON'T PANIC

Did the "possible 51% attack" originate form a regular mining pool? I somehow doubt that. Prematurely blaming regular pools is IMO a bad move and definitely not good Karma. Isn't it much more likely that the attack was coming from an external actor, rather than the existing Karma mining community? What if it is related to the 1.5+ GH/s Nethash that were unaccounted for last week? Was it even an attack on the regular network or rather aimed at Mintpal directly? I'd like to see some facts before we rush to conclusions and point fingers.

If it was indeed a 51% attack, it is pretty much the scenario I and others were warning about in April. Because of the new ASICs several GH/s of mining power are suddenly at the whim of a few select people. Moving our existing hashrate to P2Pools doesn't protect from that. P2Pool is a tiny piece in the puzzle of securing the network at best.

Another piece would be if the community and/or LLC joined the game and secured the network by aquiring additional mining power, either through renting rigs or purchasing ASICs. This was already suggested as an idea on the Karmashares forums IIRC.

In the interest of not getting this whole mining/algo/PoS discussion started again, I'll just shut up now. The team will work it out, I trust them to do whatever is best for Karma.

This is me speaking for self.

No one is blaming anyone as we don't have proof on who did what. But there has been speculation among a few of us that there is the possibility of a shadow pool or pools who are modifying their front ends to show one thing yet combining hash power in the back or have a private pool made up of huge hash power rigs that is working hidden to the public. Again we don't have any tangible proof on who is or is not doing this, however I will challenge you to look up all the pools you can find and then add up their hashrate. You will find that their is currently close to 1.5-2gh of net hash that is unaccounted for. And i think you would be foolish to think there are that many people solo mining. While asking people to mine at a p2pool is not a fix all it does put us one step forward in an attempt to spread the hash rate instead of having it all focused in one place. Hell for all we know you could be unknowing hashing away at a pool that is feeding this type of attack without you even having a clue. In the end to each is their own, if you switch to a p2pool or not that is up to you. But at least it was put out there on what could be happening and its up to you if you wish to react or not. The health of Karma and its security is very important the Karma Team and rest assured they are looking into doing what they can to make sure Karma remains secure for years to come.
As I said, I have full faith in the team and am not worried at all.

Nobody has named anyone, but as a regular here I couldn't help but notice some bad Karma in the air concerning certain pools lately. Then this rumored attack takes place and suddenly everyone writes and tweets "OMG switch to P2Pool now". Didn't really feel right to me. Disclaimer: I personally do not mine anymore . I've always liked P2Pools though, so I would switch if the high electricity cost and the sharp drop in profitability hadn't forced me to dismantle my rigs.

IMO it most likely is an unknown/hidden pool. Heard about the Synology NAS mining malware that mined the creator 500 Million Dogecoin? He/She/They set up a private pool for that purpose and went unnoticed for months. Not saying that's happening here. But if you were - uhm lets say an industrial scale miner and sat on a fat and juicy Scrypt-Farm with a few hundred MH/s or even GH/s - would you mine in a public pool and pay fees to some stranger, or would you just set up your own, non-public, pool?

The rumor I heard today is that Kim Jong Un will make Unobtanium the official currency of North Korea, and will have hungry dogs tear apart anyone who calls it UNO instead of Un.

My source wasn't very credible, but I noticed that Blazr2 did a 4square check-in from Pyongyang airport today, and then I found this very convincing photo...  BW doesn't have an opinion on this, which as you know is very, very unusual.

With an economy like North Korea backing Un, it could instantly add 1 or 2% to the price at Coins-e.
You just revealed Wolong's secret identity, shhhhhh!

Code:
2	BEgW1NQ5iFF8VtwFG7yCFBpAJ3ZMEnYsza	568,705.55

This was sent to someone with a same transaction of the 2.2M destroyed coins.
What are the chances for that!

This is not a real person, this was some coins that Bittrex sold in the IPO, but did not have addresses generated yet. We confirmed this transaction with their blockchain specialist. So, the top two addresses are invalid.
So it is an exchange wallet, or are those coins also "destroyed"?
394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: June 16, 2014, 09:05:03 PM
IMO while Un certainly is the "correct" abbreviation of Unobtanium, UNO is the ISO-style currency code used by exchanges and through most parts of the community as I've grown to know it. Also most people I chat with and follow on Twitter say UNO when talking Unobtanium.

If it really matters so much, I guess we could hold a vote or something on it. Meanwhile I'll continue saying UNO if you don't mind. Cheesy

396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: June 16, 2014, 01:25:32 PM
Well he's a busy guy - lead dev on what, like 5 or 6 coins now? UNO will not suffer from this in the long term, but in the short term it caused us some trouble. No biggie I guess. Of course we all know that bad news is when you buy and good news is when you sell, so guess what I'll be doing today. Wink

Would kinda suck if Bittrex would really pull out of UNO due to the delay though. They're kind of in the position Mintpal was at 2-3 months ago. Except that they add new coins faster than anyone can keep up with.
397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EMO] EmotiCoin on: June 16, 2014, 10:39:03 AM
Well the problem was that the whole EMO network desynced, because of hard fork. Please start mining on official pool and do not use others that has the old version of EMO wallet. If you want to use another pool, please ask their admin, if they have compiled a new version of wallet.
Its almost impossible to implement methods like digishield, because ppl here were unable to update their wallets for 3 months! Miners (pools and singles) runs still the old version.
In fact I really don't know what to do with that. The only solution I see is to start mining on pool.emoticoin.org and it will sync again.
Are you referring to the hardfork from back in march? And pools are still running the old code (before reduction to 100B coins)? Sounds like a big communication problem to me.
Still, even IF everybody had the latest wallet and started mining now, it would take a LONG time for the chain to get rolling again and the next problem is only one "multipool or ASIC hopping on the network"-event away.

# It is a bit difficult to find all the relevant information, since the network is in such disarray. But from what I CAN find it looks like this:
  • The latest wallet code still has a target block time of 1 minute and a difficulty readjustment schedule of once a day
  • Problem is those sumbers are theoretical, AFAIK in reality this happens independent from time and relies on block count
  • That means difficulty is readjusted every 1440 blocks.
  • From the hashrr pool statistics (only recent activity I could find) it last took between 3-5 hours for one block to get solved
  • ~250 blocks remain before the next difficulty adjustment
  • Math tells us that at this rate it would take roughly 40 days to get to the next difficulty adjustment
  • And even that only if we point at least a few MH/s of hashrate at the network.

# As for the pools, this is the current status:
So EMO has only 3 pools right now and no miners.

Did I mention the block explorer is out of sync too? This is a mess if I ever saw one. And the weirdest part is that I even bother posting. I don't even own any EMO anymore. Hate to see a coin I once held suffer I guess.

# Suggestions:
I don't know really. This definitely needs a combined effort by the dev and community to save. One idea is:
1. We'd need to prepare a new wallet with much faster difficulty readjustment. We should target the fork ASAP.
2. The new wallet needs to be deployed on the remaining pools.
3. Once that has happened we need to point some mining power at the pools to get the chain moving again.
4. If we cannot recruit enough miners from this thread, maybe we can gather some donations to rent a few rigs. Someone needs to hold those 50 billion EMO, if those "EMO whales" don't want to loose their entire investment sooner or later they should chip in.

I've got one other solution in mind, but that would take more preparation and effort. Opinions?
398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: June 16, 2014, 08:44:45 AM
Hehe, trading the spread is how I got into UNO, back when CoinEx wasn't a money trap. Buying 10 UNO for .0046 and selling them for .0051 felt like such a rush! In hindsight the divide was probably caused by Wolong and gang channeling the prices for their own purposes. Lets hope that's not what is causing it this time.

I am a bit concerned that the wallet issues have not been sorted out yet. Are we just lucky that markets like Cryptsy and Mintpal apparently haven't run into those yet (or were able to work around them)? We need stable walltes. Any information about the delay? Is it because BW and Blazr2 want to include all the announced new features too, or will there be an intermediate bugfix release?
399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EMO] EmotiCoin on: June 15, 2014, 11:40:54 PM
Epic Photoshop skills on that new logo. Wink

Retargeting every block should work too, several coins do that AFAIK. I'm not a coin dev, but that requires a hardfork, no?
