381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A better way to bring about adoption of blockchain and crypto-currency on: October 03, 2019, 11:09:46 PM
Hello everyone...
Seeing as the Blockchain industry and crypto-currency market are still running low on adoption.

It prompted me to create this, as an Avenue to share our thoughts about how maximum adoption could be achieved in these industries.

What is your take on this?  Which better can we drive adoption to the blockchain and crypto-currency industry...
  Your opinion matters

Hopefully,  a lot them will go a long way in boosting the participation in these industry.

Government participation. Really, the only reason why companies are afraid to adopt crypto is cause the government hasn't really accepted its existence as an independent variable in the market. Of course, accepting its existence and regulating itbare two different things. The government should adopt not to control but to become one of crypto and blockchain users. Government in normal situations would consider them being the higherups or those with power. But when they enter the crypto world, they would be equal to us users no matter how much their influence can reach to be.

I absolutely agree! I think we should lobby our Government specifically our local politicians to promote and embrace blockchain technology and cryptocurrency so that once its utilized inside Government processes and functions, people will naturally adhere and adopt it also!

Let us think that the Government will play a key role in promoting and bringing about adoption of these wonderful emerging technologies and without its support, a genuine mass adoption will never be truly achieved. Imho.
382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rant: I am thinking of Quitting my Interest in Crypto Currency on: October 03, 2019, 10:26:41 PM
I too have frustrations as a crypto-enthusiast but this doesn't change my interest and enthusiasm around cryptoverse! Whenever I have time, I try to learn new things like coding and do other things that excites me as well to make my life more stress free and meaningful. I reckon what is happening now in cryptoverse a natural course of its evolution and we can't do anything to avoid it!

As what OP had stated, taking up a new hobby other than submerge himself/herself with crypto stuff would be great and OP should also take a little break, enjoy some other things that excites you most! Enjoy life! I suggest don't leave the cryptoverse just yet! You'll never know it will become more vibrant again as you know it! Smiley
383  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: is Sportsbet.io safe to bet? on: October 03, 2019, 09:36:07 PM
IMO,sportbet.io progressing to be most preferred sportbook since they have lot of advertisement and more options to bet other than crypto and variety of games to bet, almost everthing there now.
This is true, i am an active bettor on sportsbet.io and they always have a good promotion. Based on my experience, sportsbet.io is safe and i don't have a single problem about deposit or withdrawal until now. Don't break the rules like having multiple account (most of cases) and you will be fine.

Considering most of the community have positive feedback on sportsbet.io, I would love to test it out sometime in the future or maybe I can place a bet if one my favorite boxer have a match though I must admit, I still need to comprehend all  about the platform's interface and learn the tricks of the trade so to speak. Just signup and pick your bet, most matches available on sportbet. No tricks no strategies in gambling only your luck decide where you end up with. Cheesy

Yeah will do. I mean I'm really interested on those betting odds and how I can use them on my advantage because in my country there are different betting styles and I think I could use it to leverage my position and hopefully could have a little bit of edge and  be on the winning side more often. 384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: South Korea precedent ruling allows cryptoexchanges to be sued due to lost funds on: October 03, 2019, 04:46:42 PM
Indeed, this could be a landmark case that will set a precedent to future crypto litigations and I can say that the ruling has been fair and just. The case did got  a merit since there were security lapses on the part of the exchange in which if I understand correctly," its argument states that the exchange had a daily withdrawal limit policy but was not enforced when the attacker successfully acquired more than what was stated on that daily withdrawal limit policy" and in effect, clearly shows that the exchange is indeed liable for that loss!

I think this case will have good consequences and will also be beneficial to the whole crypto community since it could also effectively trigger  exchanges to review their security policies and do audits in order to make the platform more robust and secure which could be beneficial to both its operators and  customers respectively.

386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $2 Billion Lost in Mt. Gox Bitcoin Hack Can Be Recovered, Lawyer Claims on: October 03, 2019, 03:05:27 PM
Quote
According to Mt Gox creditors, ZP Legal contacted them earlier this year, offering an opportunity to recover almost a quarter of the missing 850,000 bitcoins stolen in the 2014 hack of the exchange. (The coins were worth more than $450 million at the time of the theft and $8.5 billion today.)

I have an interesting idea! Assuming that a quarter of all 850,000 Bitcoins that was lost during the hack could be recovered, and with a 50 -75 percent cut by that law firm, the stakeholders could receive an estimated net of more or less $530 million from current value which is a little bit higher than its estimated value of $450 million at the time of the hack.

Now I was thinking if there was an "under the table deal" between this  law firm and those that benefited from this hack? So that they could come into a negotiated deal which could by far free those people from legal liabilities and so in the end, they all go home in a win-win situation. I think a compromised agreement will be made out of this crypto drama.

387  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Vidy (Vidycoin) Scammed Bounty Hunters for $100k + gross negligence on: October 03, 2019, 01:36:52 PM
Finally! The bounty participants can now at least air their side on what has been a deceitful bounty program conducted by Vidy team and being one of their participants, I can attest that they intentionally reduced all the stakes earned by bounty participants including me - which I believe I've got the highest stake on their signature campaign estimated at around 2M Vidy tokens but only got 25k tokens instead! This incident led me to believe that we should do our best to inform the community and warn them so that we can eradicate this kinds of deceitful acts and fight the crusade against these kinds of scammers!

at-least you get anything I received nothing I make contents for them

Sorry to hear that! I know we don't deserve it and they ought to resolve that issue months ago and come into a compromised agreement with qualified bounty participants but didn't do anything to fix it!

Also, I understand that Vidy is trying to list in Binance via Community Coin Voting and yet ironically, they don't know how to handle and give importance to the community especially those bounty hunters that had exerted enough effort to promote their project. Anyway, I take this experience as a lesson that could serve me well on my crypto endeavors in the future.
388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to find scam coins on: October 03, 2019, 11:52:10 AM
Their are lot of ICO right now are coming some of them are scam on when the time of ICO ends. So if we want to be aware of those kind of ICO must better to read more some of them information they have. And take a look sometime about the whitepaper and the roadmap of the ICO because some of them one of the important thing if the ICO are scam or not. And the team also if they are active always and have some improve of the ICO.

Indeed most ICO's are scams and I agree on most of the tips listed on previous posts to spot scam projects but I have to mention also those AIRDROP projects that were giving away free coins supposedly consisting a large portion of total supply to attract participants!

Most of them don't have enough transparency and once community bite this scheme, they tried to list the project to exchanges and will do pump and dump to victimize innocent people and once they get what they want, they leave the project without any trace - a classic exit scam! I think the community should always be vigilant about this type of scam.

Regulation, regulation and regulation!

These above things can only boost bitcoin/crypto adoption in a holistic manner! No other things! I repeat, no other things can help in bitcoin adoption at the scale that regulation can do! I know a lot of people are against any type of government regulation here! But if we want to see bitcoin being adopted in the mainstream economy, then government regulation is the only way to achieve this!

Take example of Japan!

I am more inclined to believe on this idea since once Governments formally recognizes blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies, I suppose there will be some form or type of regulations that will be imposed and I guess that would be okay for most people and in one way or another, will hasten general crypto adoption.

Even Japanese firms are entering into a consortium to create regulations for security tokens, thus formally recognizes the need to do so and in accordance with regulatory compliance on Japanese laws and regulations. Imagine once this regulatory framework is established, I think more companies would be willing to digitized / tokenize their securities without fear of Government interventions thus creating mass adoption across securities market.
390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin was Created by the CIA, FBI, US Military??? on: October 03, 2019, 03:53:57 AM
I think the idea is ridiculous! I personally don't believe in this conspiracy theory for just one reason alone - "the U.S. Government will not make a hammer and use it to hit its head"!

I mean, why would the U.S. create something that might someday render  its mighty U.S. dollar obsolete? and could eventually destroy its economy and its economic influence all over the world? In short, they will protect the status of U.S. dollar as an international currency and maintain its status quo as possibly as they can.Imho.
391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $2 Billion Lost in Mt. Gox Bitcoin Hack Can Be Recovered, Lawyer Claims on: October 03, 2019, 03:12:10 AM
This news development about Mt. Gox hack seems a wishful thinking to me for the fact that various efforts were exerted over the past several years but nothing concrete had happened to recover those lost Bitcoins. Assuming they were indeed able to track those  Bitcoins in the hands of few who benefited from it, I think those Bitcoins may have been long gone or has been exchanged with different hands through other mixing services making it more difficult to recover.

Aside from that, I think that the law firm, even with outstanding track records, may have decided to pursue it maybe just for publicity stunt and does want to obtain handsome hourly payment for their services aside from charging 50 to 75 percent if ever they succeeded in recovering it. Also, as per information published on that article, that law firm states that "their assumptions about connections are correct" which may give false hope to its stakeholders once proven they are wrong. 392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you think Bitcoin is the world's most widely used cryptocurrency, you're wrong on: October 02, 2019, 11:49:47 PM
Recently these kind of misleading information were spread on multiple threads of bitcointalk. Cheesy

High traded crypto is not the same as most used crypto.

Absolutely! How come they have the guts to spread misinformation not only to the community but to the entire financial industry as well! Also, I find it quite ridiculous since Bloomberg.com is one of the leading online site catering to the finance industry and yet didn't review that article's title and revised it a little bit to clarify things out. Was this a FUD directed to discredit Bitcoin which might be lobbied by financial giants from wall street? Maybe it is or maybe not!

I'm sure the Bitcoin community would immediately react to this kinds of misleading news since the phrase "The worlds most used cryptocurrency" could be easily misinterpreted where in fact it could have been " The worlds most used in trading cryptocurrency"! and I guess Bloombergs editor isn't doing his or her job exactly! Another thing is that Tether's trading volume did surpassed against Bitcoin's volume but I guess it will not be consistent in the long term and is just temporary so BTC will likely take that position again in due time. Imho.
393  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Vidy (Vidycoin) Scammed Bounty Hunters for $100k + gross negligence on: October 02, 2019, 03:20:53 PM
The Vidy Bounty lasted about 5 months.
I assuming then that bounty hunters worked for 5 months with no pay?  If so, that really sucks.  In the past year or so I've seen so much of this crap that I wonder why bounty hunters would be willing to continue to do things like that anymore.  Especially if you're getting paid in tokens--some of them might be valuable if you can sell them in time, but if I'm not mistaken most of them end up being worthless.  It's risky work at best and at worst things turn out like this, being complete scams.

If I remember correctly, the bounty campaign was scheduled for 3 months but has been extended for another month and a half, making the total bounty period of 4.5 months or 18 weeks. So we don't really have a choice but to continue with it knowing that we will loose our stakes if we stop wearing their signature as per rules from the campaign specifically with signature campaign which i had joined.

I'm tempted to tell you that at least you got something out of it, but that would be small comfort when they screwed you so badly.  If you don't mind my asking, what are those 25k tokens worth?  Is this even on the market yet?

Yes they did screw us badly and yet we can't do anything despite our appeals to reward us fairly since the Vidy team are steadfast on their resolve on not giving us a fair rewards, employing the alibi of Twitter bots that has joined the Twitter campaign which I have nothing whatsoever to do  with it. Smiley
Vidy is already on the market and has managed to list on Bithum Global, Gate.io, Houbi, etc. and now planning to list on Binance! I was even thinking if we could request our respected members of the community like you to download the bounty spreadsheet to verify the veracity of our allegations.  And finally, out of frustration, I've sold my 25k Vidy tokens for just about $85. Undecided For further reference, here is the link of the bounty Vidy thread. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4562571.0
394  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin's price on: October 02, 2019, 02:56:22 PM
No one knows exactly what will be the price of Bitcoin in the future since its tantamount to fortunetelling! Yet by observing its ever growing network value, together with its increasing number of users/adopters and its fundamentals becoming more positive also thus having its over all fundamentals going in an upward trajectory which is very promising.

Now if we correlate its fundamentals with its price, then we can say that Bitcoin's price is also slated on an upward trajectory! Given time, I would like to assume its price will grow exponentially within a period of 10 years time frame  but of course this is just an assumption likewise it is also a possibility that can be nonetheless achieved!

396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BLOCKCHAIN IN THE FUTURE on: October 02, 2019, 06:43:20 AM
So we are almost in the midway since blockchain technology's inception and 2030 which by far, I would assume that when that time comes, most industries including the Governments were already applying it to their existing systems and methodologies, - in a process call blockchainization.

Take the case in my country, where almost other Government agencies has a different set of records be it on a person's identity or civil registry, medical records, tax records, vehicle registration records, etc,(most information systems are not integrated) - which makes it very redundant and costly to maintain the records integrity. I think when all this data is blockchainized, the Government can really save a lot of money and resources and aside from that, their will be a high degree of transparency which is badly needed right now to radically minimize any form of fraud and corruption!

So far, I guess it will only take for us a leader that has the political will to implement this disruptive technology in the future. Hopefully soon!
397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 4 bitcoin risks you should know when investing in bitcoin on: October 02, 2019, 05:55:49 AM
I feel most of the risk your saying here also apply to fiat currencies, and it's more so general advice, not specific for crypto's. For example:

Legal risk: You can money launder with fiat currencies, people with a lot of cash get in trouble, same thing.

Security risk: bank accounts get hacked, people steal funds from you, not just BTC.

Fraud: People can easily commit fraud with fiat.

Tax: Have you never seem people avoid tax using cash, or other ways?

Quite a good comparison of Bitcoin - Fiat risks which are almost equal in nature considering every known investment has its own risks associated with it and  both have no bulletproof mechanism to avoid it. In this sense, OP forgot the most critical risk that Bitcoin has, its degree of volatility! But I think this can be managed also if we choose to hedge Bitcoin such as opting for futures.

Nevertheless, is it also worth mentioning that Bitcoin's inherent volatility could also benefit its holders if its value rose unexpecdtedly in a short period of time. Also, not all four risk mentioned by the OP apply in many countries since they don't have yet a legal  and tax framework to implement it at least not for now.
398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DID I MAKE A MISTAKE INVESTING IN BITCOIN? on: October 02, 2019, 02:42:22 AM
DID I MAKE A MISTAKE INVESTING IN BITCOIN?

This question will always pop up to newbie investors whether it is bitcoin or stocks. My answer will always be the same.

IF you did your due diligence like knowing the facts, basics and the reasons why it is a good investment, then it is not a MISTAKE. It is just a SETBACK.

But if you invested because you are just riding the hype or any other reason without doing the necessary research first, then it is a MISTAKE. It is a mistake even if you profited in it because you will make the same move again and you might not be as lucky the next time.

You're right! If people didn't really knew what is Bitcoin all about and its ever growing network value including its community, then it would probably led them to have doubts which I think is just normal in the sense that we're not quite accustomed to this levels of volatility not unlike traditional markets!

I suggest we should take into consideration Bitcoin's strong fundamentals first such as rising number of adopters, increasing volume of transactions, and the increasing growth in network value - this I think are very positive traits possessed by Bitcoin that has produced many optimists. That is why I guess Bitcoin will be very viable for long term hodling in the hope that it can give very good returns to its hodlers in the end. I should say patience is the key! Smiley

Salamat nalang masipag yung BM at hinde makakalusot tong mga to.

If you had invested in Bitcoin and monitor its daily price regularly, then you may entertain that thought in your mind. But if you set your investments in the long term, then this may not concern you either. I though hope you would think twice if Bitcoin's price suddenly rise after a couple of months. Hopefully!
