141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: November 05, 2019, 06:40:41 AM
It’s crazy how everyone worried about Dash rank the coin is still strong imo so this is a good time to pick some up and hold dash is a great coin and with more adoption and use it will only make dash even more stronger just be patient and wait

Absolutely! Since some of them can't find any valid reason to tarnish DASH's image and all they can do is to blow their trumpets whenever DASH slides a little in marketcap ranking but seems to act cold whenever DASH rises among other coins.

I think they seem to forget DASH's major features that comes with its solid development and its vibrant community, not to mention other metrics where DASH also shows good standing among its contemporaries.
142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 2017 Price Rise was a Scam by Bitfinex using Tether(Fraud) on: November 05, 2019, 05:01:09 AM
Tether already sabotaged themselves:

Crypto Market Roiled by New Allegations Against Tether, Bitfinex
Bitfinex Allegedly Covers $850 million Loss with Tether Funds
Bitfinex Used Tether Reserves to Mask Missing $850 Million

So there's a lot of allegations against them, "running on fractional reserve " or "no audits" afterall.

Anyways, I don't believed as well that they have something to do with bull run and it's subsequent collapse, it's pretty obvious that time that we are already in a bubble.

I must admit that those previous allegations on Tether and Bitfinex have more substance than this 2017 bull run study which seems to support the notion that Tether and Bitfinex have been all along doing these unlawful things brazenly! And all of these are being set up to condition the minds of the public and influence their perception on these two entities. But of course, all of these are just allegations pending finality from court decision.

Now, this is the most puzzling thing to me, assuming Bitfinex and Tether did really orchestrate the pump on 2017 bull run, then we can assume that they were suppose to gain millions if not billions of dollars after that supposedly market manipulation right?

So lets also assume, they did totally get billions of dollars through that "manipulation", then I am wondering why Bitfinex, together with Tether were indicted on the supposedly $850 million dollar Bitfinex cover up allegation which supposedly happened on mid 2018?

I mean this allegations doesn't connect at all on why would Bitfinex would use Tether reserve funds to cover for its losses if they really did got substantial amount during the 2017 bull run as allegedly orchestrated by them?
143  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [IEO] CurioInvest - Bringing collectables into the digital world on: November 05, 2019, 02:23:58 AM
actually the concept and purpose of This project is unique, but due to the inactivity of the team in developing the Curios project, the price of their tokens is getting dumped.
The price of the token falls due to the lack of demand, as well as the lack of a market maker. Development is a long process, you need to be patient. If you believe in project, now is a great time to buy.

I think we should all keep our calm and be patient enough to wait any future developments on the project. For the meantime, let us all keep spreading awareness about this project instead of becoming more demanding because any project development isn't done overnight and we all ought to know it! Imho.
144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 2017 Price Rise was a Scam by Bitfinex using Tether(Fraud) on: November 05, 2019, 12:14:19 AM
It's a old new https://www.coindesk.com/study-claims-tether-props-bitcoins-price-in-market-downturns

I'm personally, skeptical that the Tether people would be crazy enough to keep up this scam after being subpoena'd by the SEC (~Dec 14th) which is why I'm not particularly worried. however we should stop using USDT. because every time major moves like 2017 peak happen there is negative headline news on Tether and Bitfinex. also the retail investors can't even convert USD to USDT themselves, and can't redeem USDT for USD, so it's not the same as USD. it seems every major crypto exchange and company doesn't want Tether to fail, knowing what will happen to their business if USDT collapses.

It seems to me that there is a grand conspiracy to discredit Tether including Bitfinex purely because of competition! - maybe because there are other stablecoin competitors out there that wants to take over Tether's status right now and yet, they have always been disappointed!

And why would anyone link Tether as the only cause of 2017 bullrun when everybody knows that FOMO became widespread to the crypto-community and mass media further fueled it and everybody at that time "want to have a piece of the pie" with this "bullish crypto scene".

Now I think that study seems flawed and purely hypothetical and still needs to be peer reviewed by independent third party entities to verify if it is correct!

I also think Cointelegraph's way of reporting should be more comprehensive and subjective and should present more pertinent proofs to substantiate it. Imho.
145  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Phishing email ask me to install or update brave browser. on: November 04, 2019, 09:36:02 PM
Another email today was sent to me from another email address. It's the same email pretending to come from brave browser team. Body of the email:
Quote
Good afternoon, dear members of the Brave company.

Our company welcomes you to provide useful information.

All participants of our project who have ever taken part in our AirDrop or used our software now have the opportunity to participate in the Bounty program.

Starting November 1, 2019, each participant will be able to earn 1,500 BAT Tokens for simple tasks.

Important: Read carefully all the conditions of this program.

Bounty Registration Form:

https://docs.google.com/form......

Why do we need this?

You help our project in developing additional programs that will bring new opportunities and goals to our company, as well as optimization of our main browser.

If you have any further questions, please contact our support team in our official twitter account.

Thank you for participating in our project and stay tuned for our news.

Regards Brave Sowtware.

This is crazy because i receive those emails into my main email account which i don't remember using it in any strange offer or newsletter.

It looks like these scammers are using automation for email mass sending and also using alternate sender addresses to avoid flagging so I think we should expect a lot of these being sent to us more often.

If you have any suspicion that your email have been compromised, then you can check it at Firefox Monitor and see if it has been included in a data breach.
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Buy Dash and Store in Ledger Nano X Cold Storage Hardware Wallet on: November 04, 2019, 12:00:59 PM
DASH was thrown out on the 20th place. What to expect next?

Just a matter of time I see this coin more stronger than before if we see the adoption and growth of community than it will shock the world with new move. I think this is into accumulation phase and soon will be back on the track to the moon.

I'm still glad that I have witnessed what DASH had become since the Darkcoin days, with its vibrant community and solid ecosystem and robust growth!

I think we don't have to  worry about DASH's current price  and its market ranking right now since it depends on crypto markets but I'm very confident in its development - with DASH being the main proponent of masternode technology, (thanks to @eduffield) which I found to have different implementations right now to some notable blockchain projects.

I can say I'm still a DASH believer no matter what! Great job guys. Smiley
147  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How To Prevent Being Scammed in the Blockchain on: November 04, 2019, 11:09:53 AM
I understand the urge to warn people about scam in the cryptoworld, but they way you made the post could make people think that you were looking for hits on your website/blog.

You could share a little summary of what is in the article in the post to make it more interesting.
Otherwise, thanks for trying to warn the community

Actually the article describes three projects which are focused on identity management - more specifically to help users avoid identity theft but I don't think those projects will totally help people from being scammed since there are endless possibilities of tricks and strategies that scammers would employ just to get what they want!

Now I think the thread title is somewhat broad and should be more specific. Also, OP offers only some solutions particularly with combating identity theft but regardless of this, those projects mentioned could somehow help us from becoming a victim especially with Civic project which I'm a little bit familiar.

As a reminder, just like what I've stated before, its very important that we should not become complacent with regards to our existing digital security setup because I believe no one is safe in this digital world. Imho.
148  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Errol Spence Jr. Vs Manny Pacquiao on: November 04, 2019, 10:45:54 AM

A rematch for Mayweather and Manny would be interesting because their past fight is not really intense and entertaining. But just like what you said team Mayweather opted to not have a rematch, maybe because they want to left the history that Mayweather defeated Manny and dont want the latter to regain his status.

Probably but Mayweather is a better fighter than Manny, so there is nothing to be afraid of.
I think he just want more money so this fight until now is still not happening, getting the biggest payout in his career is probably his target here.

maybe that time he will know who Jack Ma is, because he will become a billionaire then, in usd.

Maybe Mayweather is a better fighter than Pacquiao but it still is a contested debate until now and it depends on whom you will asked about it.

I remember people airing their disappoint on social media after their first fight and most spectators aren't contented on Mayweather's boxing since they were expecting a very good and entertaining slugfest between the two boxers but it never happened, thanks to Mayweathers strategy.

Until now I can say Mayweather is hesitant to fight Pacquiao again because he is definitely afraid to lose and that he will avoid such encounter as possibly as he can because he is also afraid that he might become a laughingstock in boxing world if he indeed suffer a lose to Pacquiao.
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 100 years of deflation and disinflation - BSOV vs. Bitcoin on: November 04, 2019, 05:53:59 AM
Your graph really does not tell much, like what each axis represents. It also lacks details about the other factors which affect both currencies and it's market behavior.

I take it that it's a graph of total supply against time, i.e, number of years. Both coins have the exact same maximum supply. Both have speculative value and hence they are traded somewhat like an asset, this to an extent, introduces the concept of deflation and/or disinflation.

I hope those graphs and the OP wasn't designed as a tool for a smear campaign to discredit Bitcoin so that another coin may gain from it  because I think almost everybody else that did smear campaigns against Bitcoin had eventually failed!

Now I would appreciate if OP would be kind enough to provide us a more objective comparison on Bitcoin and BSOV and let the community see both of their strengths and weaknesses and decide upon it. Smiley
150  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning] Fake Brave Bounty Program Giving 1,500 BAT Tokens to each participant! on: November 04, 2019, 05:22:10 AM
Thank you for the awareness and the heads up as well, I also received email from them and now I'm curious where did they get my email address. I almost clicking the link they are given when I opened my Gmail account. Good thing I remember this thread of yours.

I almost fall into this trap because it was sent through my mail inbox, not in a spam message. But luckily I'm a Chrome user.

You're welcome!  Being a part of this community, I guess its our duty to inform others on these pitfalls so that we may never become victims of it!

Now I understand that the email sent to you was sent by a different email address and I suppose these scammers are very aggressive on their phishing campaign and will do different tricks to become successful that I feel it is rather important to keep the community regularly informed about this until these threats have subsided, hopefully in the near future.

So I guess we should continue on keeping everybody aware about this as much as possible. Smiley
151  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Solve Chinese Banking, Household Debt Woes? on: November 04, 2019, 02:36:47 AM
I think Bitcoin cannot solve household debt and  banking bailouts since it cannot influence the human aspects of what causes these problems!
Agree.  Bitcoin isn't going to be curing poverty, war, or any other thing and I wish people would stop asking this question, because it's stupid.  How is a form of money going to do any of that?

Yeah I guess its better not to spread false hope among our peers because as I understand, there are "societal problems" that cant be solved by technological solutions.

And yet ever since I've been a member of this forum I've seen threads like this one and many posts in which members argue that bitcoin is going to revolutionize third world countries and overall change the world.  If any tool for doing those things could ever be created I would *think* that it wouldn't take over 10 years for it to kick in, would you?

Had their assumptions been correct, then we could have seen significant improvements towards those problems right now but I'm afraid that 10 years since inception, Bitcoin will not solve these so called "societal problems" per se. Imho.

152  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [BEWARE] Bitmex Fake Email! on: November 04, 2019, 02:11:11 AM
This information will be very helpful in spreading more awareness on this kinds of phishing attempts throughout the crypto industry!

Now I wonder what will happen to people who are not in this forum and are clueless about these kind of incidents especially if there is no one to warn them?
153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 100 years of deflation and disinflation - BSOV vs. Bitcoin on: November 04, 2019, 01:27:05 AM
Bitcoin's deflationary model has already been the subject of several discussions not just in this forum but throughout the entire social media ecosystem. Personally, I believe Bitcoin's fixed supply is somewhat deflationary by design but who could have prove it?, not until we wait 100 years to verify both our assumptions are correct!

I also find your infographic somewhat confusing - adding up to that are the terms deflation and disinflation which both are influenced by several factors and not just by the supply design of any particular cryptocurrency and maybe you can consider also to include such factors such as CPI (consumer price index) in your graphs to make it more comprehensive.

Now I hope one of the crypto you've mentioned will be able to survive within the next 100 years adding to the fact BSOV is only an ERC20 token and could be perceived of riding Bitcoin's such that almost all Bitcoin look alike has been shunned from the past by the community.
154  Other / Archival / Re: Selling ownership of crypto exchange website - $75 in BTC negotiable on: November 03, 2019, 11:34:18 PM
Its very unfortunate that you've got to sell your exchange for a mere $75 in BTC and why is that? Why it is so very cheap?

I think its one of the exchange that succumb as an example of Darwinian theory of evolution - the "survival of the fittest" kind of thing!

Now I doubt if anyone will get interested in buying it since most of the crypto-community has already witnessed scammy exchanges come and go - most of which have the motive to cash in and was encouraged to set up after the 2017 bull run.

But if it has superb features at par with other notable exchanges, then might as well offer it to CZ, maybe he'd pay $750k and considered it a Binance subsidiary. Smiley
155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Solve Chinese Banking, Household Debt Woes? on: November 03, 2019, 10:59:02 PM
China’s economy is not immune to the woes that are creeping into Western ones. It has long been a nation of savers but increasing household debt and more banking bailouts are signaling stormy economic weather ahead. Will bitcoin be the savior when the big crunch comes?

https://bitcoinist.com/will-bitcoin-solve-chinese-banking-household-debt-woes/

I think Bitcoin cannot solve household debt and  banking bailouts since it cannot influence the human aspects of what causes these problems!

I mean how can Bitcoin solve household debt when the the main cause of this comes from socio-economic factors and lifestyle choices! Similarly, how can Bitcoin solve banking problems when it was the result of poor management!

Therefore, I like to assume that Bitcoin cannot solve socio-economic factors, lifestyle choices and poor management but humans will! So the solution is for us to have necessary reforms so as not to have these kinds of problems in the future. Imho.
156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Investment opportunity, basically free money 8) on: November 03, 2019, 01:36:27 PM
I have searched this on Telegram and here is what I found:
Quote
We will wait for more people to join before I will release the next steps of how you can be a part of this.
The information will cost you 0.1 ETH or an equivalent in ERC20 tokens tradable on Binance Exchange. Payment instructions will be released later.
You will receive $250-500 over the next 18 months.
Keep this information to yourself once you receive it, the more people that know about this, means less money for us! Of course you are welcome to invite friends to this.
✌ If you won’t be able to join this program, I will refund the payment. Let’s restore faith in humanity and trust.

When someone offers you money but before you get it you need to pay the fee first. I can assure you, all of them are a scam.
This is not my first time seeing it, do not fall for it.

I think this might be a classic example of crypto ponzi schemes and even OP didn't have any verifiable credentials much less any securities permit or any other pertinent docs related to their identity and business operations. So in short, if ever one of these guys try to run with investors money, there is no way to hold them accountable.

Moreover, how can OP categorically state that their investment program is basically "free money" when its program will cost would be investors 0.1 ETH? My God! The crypto industry is now getting more mature than ever that I doubt anyone would be interested with your program knowing it has a very high probability of being scam!
157  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CRYPTO DOUBLERS SCAM !!! on: November 03, 2019, 12:18:51 PM
Any scheme that is "too good to be true" should immediately make us suspicious and should avoid it all at once! I believe this things will continue forever as long as there are still unsuspecting naive people who didn't use their common sense and continuously falls prey to this kinds of traps!

Greed which is inherent to us and the temptation for "easy money"  are both fuels to this frauds that needs to be extinguish or controlled within ourselves. Imho.
158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Top Crypto-Trading Books Everybody Should Read Before Starting Trade on: November 03, 2019, 11:56:10 AM
Why we should spend a time by reading books when we have trading signals from professionals?
Anyone claiming to give you trading signals on the basis of them being some professional is probably a scammer, this scammers go to the extent of selling this signals as well as opening groups that people subscribe to, this is a terrible advice and I'll advice users to ignore it, no one can trade better than you if you put efforts into developing yourself.

Do not buy trading signals and do not give people your coins to trade for you.

I suppose trading signals are not being taken seriously right now because most of them are only being made with a hidden agenda like taking for a ride naive people for a pump and dump scheme which at the end could result in them having huge losses.

I think it is more ideal if we could get any trading knowledge as much as we can that could prove very useful especially when we have mastered the basics in theory and in actual trading activity so that in the end, we can easily distinguish those trade advice we encounter everyday if it has merits or not and act in accordance with it.
159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Minter. The Internet of Money (TON & Libra will be integrated) on: November 03, 2019, 08:44:57 AM
I have been watching this process from the very first days of the launch of the network. If investors first looked for more advantageous offers on commissions, now they are paying more attention to the technical security of servers. Again, you can lose your tokens in case of block skipping by the validator and burning part of the issue. But usually all validators compensated these losses to their investors!

Of course we have to select validators which are very robust in terms of its security structure (e.g. those validators which have good uptime statistics, haven't had any security issues before, etc.).

I guess I'm more likely to delegate my tokens to validators who doesn't only have a huge amount of delegated coins but the node owner had also a sizable stake within that node. Other than that, I assume there are also well placed security mechanisms to protect delegators from totally being ripped out from their staked tokens should  a severe security issue arises.
160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Top Crypto-Trading Books Everybody Should Read Before Starting Trade on: November 03, 2019, 08:19:29 AM
This crypto realm is still very much in its infancy, but we have already witnessed proponents — writers and economists, businessmen, technologists, and cryptographers bringing their ideas and visions for the technology into the written word. Whether you're eager to start your journey to Bitcoin and Crypto, take a look at this curated collection from KuCoin's Top 10 Books on crypto trading

Anyway, Those series of books mentioned on this blog can be our guide but in my opinion, nothing can replace experience. So just start trading and explore it by yourself

Read it now here: https://kucoinblog.com/top-10-books-on-crypto-trading-part-2-sk-bt

I think these books are great references for traders whether your still a newbie or an expert. I hope I could find free digital copies available for download on some them and hopefully share it to the community. But still you are right! - "experience is still the best teacher" so to speak. Thank you for sharing that article.
