How can I see a transaction's ID in the official wallet? Sent some XMR to an exchange, the deposit hasn't showed up and now I need to provide the transaction ID for the ticket, but where can I find it? I don't see a way to list previous transactions in the wallet, there's the "payments" command but it requires an ID which I'm trying to find out in the first place..  very confusing stuff.  Open simplewallet.log search for the command you entered, like this: transfer 0 address amount paymentid that way you will find your txid |

Now that you say it... Good question. Maybe some guy who posting sheet in the past Who reads about all the history anyway (seriously) ... it's good for archiving purposes and proof ... but that's it. When I got into anoncoin I read every single page in this thread. It's a good idea to understand how the coin started out and developed when you were not around during that time (I got into ANC in 2014). Hello everyone, here is an infographics about anonymity in the blockchain that I intend to finish and publish on reddit on october 6, maybe sooner. The text is coming from the anoncoin wiki, but the title and inter-titles are from me. There might be typos and bad grammer in them. There will be a second part about IP addresses, and I2P. I think you should add a better explaination of zerocoin and what it does, similar to how you explain mixing. One example that I liked a lot:  In simplest terms: say you have 1 ANC whose history you want to erase. Using Zerocoin, you put that 1 ANC into a hat full of many other peoples’ 1 ANCs; at some later time, you can pull that 1 ANC out of the hat without its previous history (actually, you prove that you previously put in 1 ANC, and so you are allowed to pull out someone else’s 1 ANC). Someone who sees your new 1 ANC can only know that its previous history is one of perhaps millions of equally likely histories. If instead you had 12 ANC whose history you wanted to erase, you would have to put 10 ANC into the hat full of other peoples’ 10 ANC Zerocoins, and two 1 ANC coins into the hat full of other peoples’ 1 ANC coins. This means that Zerocoins are much more like actual coins than are Anoncoin, Bitcoin, etc. which are basically a collection of unnamed bank accounts. |

You're implying here that every coin that gets mined is directly sold on exchanges. Personally I think only 50% is being sold on exchanges, maybe there are some OTC deals idk. I think holding 0.004 isn't really much of a problem. We've got many great things comming up which will increase adoption. Also IIRC rpietila posted the emission table here somewhere and in the beginning of january 2015 we're already down to 15k a day..
It could very well be that we can hold 0.004, but that's just stagnation. People want to see price increase, and when the adoption curve fails to satisfy them they want to modify the fundamentals of the coin and likely destroy the trust in the process. This is the wrong way to go about it, bring in more people instead and the price will raise naturally. If that can't happen it's better that the price falls until it reaches a new stable point. |

I suspect the current discussion about emission change is the result of two things.
1. Large holders
2. Price decline / stagnation
I also believe that stagnation and price decline is very healthy, and that emission change is NOT the solution.
The "problem" we have right now is very high inflation, ~20k XMR @ 0.004, we're talking 80 BTC every single day. Price at 0.01 and we're talking 200 BTC daily. Who will absorb all this? Who does so currently? Sure, there is some new adopters consistently coming in, but imo not enough. I believe the vast majority of inflation is absorbed by current large holders. I know many old timers have been buying monero and I think their "bags" are getting heavier and heavier. Who currently own 5k+ XMR and owned more 5-6 months ago (miners excluded)?
At some point, people will reach their limit. Once they reach that % purchasing more can not be justified, perhaps the allocated % ends up being much higher than originally intended too. If the price starts dropping when you really shouldn't buy more, it's not as fun now is it? So perhaps there is some fear that the price will decline until the inflation can absorb it, and that despite being early in the game, they may even end up in the red for a while. The long awaited journey "to the moon" may not come for potentially years. And if it comes right now, it will likely be short lived.
By slowing down emission, large holders will no longer have to worry as much about decline, in fact, that could even trigger a rally. They think. But I fear it may backfire, and have the opposite effect. If the rules of the game is changed midway people will lose confidence. Only the fact that this is even being discussed affect the price, I know some have already sold monero because of this.
Make no mistake about it, changing the fundamental rules may have major impact on trust in the currency. People will start to wonder: What will change in the future? Can we trust the promises? Why did early adopters get this advantage? As binaryFate put it, the community will split in two, those who got in before the emission change, and those who came after. But who will come in after?
Emission change is at it's core a way for early adopters to pre-mine a currency. The slower emission will not allow for accumulation in the same manner.
So I think what is really going on here is large holders / early adopters looking to maximize their short term gains without really considering the impact these choices may have on the future of the coin and the trust in it.
This suggestion seems to be a rather desperate attempt (with inconvenient timing) to keep the price from falling. Well, this may sound harsh but perhaps the price should fall. Monero has been priced very high right from the beginning. If inflation cannot be absorbed by the market naturally, the market will find a new price, naturally. You want the price to stay where it is or go up, get more people involved! We don't need this price fixing attempt to "save" the price (I'm not saying this is the intention of everyone suggesting this change, it just indicates it).

As I promised two weeks ago, here is an estimate for completion of Zerocoin-in-Anoncoin that I feel has a very high chance of being met (a "hard deadline"). By October 15, I'll have Zerocoin integration in "alpha" state, and on a testnet for anybody to try.By November 1, I'll have Zerocoin in mainnet, which means you can use the ANC you have now to mint and spend zerocoins. It will still be in "beta", meaning you should pay attention to our website, IRC, and our bitcointalk.org thread for security updates to the wallet and anoncoind; this is especially important if you are a miner or running a relay node. I realized that I have made deadlines in the past that were not met. I put a lot of thought into the above deadlines and I know that they can be met. Just as a reminder, I'm working full-time on Zerocoin until at least October 1, and possibly after depending on funding. Other upcoming dates:September 15: the RSA UFO project ends, participants are rewarded, and the server source is released to our Github. September 17: the first Zerocoin commits get pushed to our Github (Anoncoin/anoncoin, "zc" branch). As I said before, the public Github will lag 2 weeks behind active development in our private repository; this is to make things more difficult for copycat coins. Could he have changed the time because of the new checkpoints? Or perhaps he is lying about his intended time frame? Could be the checkpoints, now the exchange (poloniex) also has frozen deposit and withdraws for 24 hours, perhaps that will force him to delay even further. Judging from his reply to TFM I got the impression that he would load up on XMR using TW then dump them on the exchange for BTC. In that case his plan failed (for now). Poloneix isn't the only exchange though. True, but the order depth on the other exchanges are negligible (except perhaps hitbtc, but it's suspected to be fake) |

He doesn't and his own statements have already included contradictions that demonstrate he is lying. No I won't identify how, but I'm certain he is a fake.
Can you enlighten me? Or is this like all your other statements of fact and proof that people are liars? I really haven't come across a bunch of people so imbecelic, juvenile and sad since my days with the Amiga. btw - I sold the Moan-ero I mined - wouldn't want a coin associated with such obnoxious people. Stupid, bloody name anyway! The burden of proof is on you. |
