381  Economy / Economics / Re: Don't spend bitcoin. Not now. on: October 05, 2019, 11:51:21 AM
People accept dollars because they believe that money is still backed by gold (as it was until the end of Bretton Woods), or because (unfortunately) they believe the government will guarantee the value of the currency.
That is, people believe in Dollar because they are sure that money will be at the same value tomorrow. Although this is not true.

This is not the right way to think. Bitcoin and dollar, both are same. The absolute value of both doesn't change. If I keep 1 USD today, it will remain 1 USD tomorrow. Similarly if we 1 BTC today, it will remain 1 BTC tomorrow. See there is no difference between the two!
But what mistake people do, they compare absolute value of USD with the relative value of BTC. Like Bitcoin, all currencies fluctuate in relation to one another. Like, BTC value fluctuates from $8000 to $8200 in a day, the value of USD also fluctuates in relation to other coins. For example, 1 USD worth 1.33 CAD today may fluctuate to 1.35 CAD tomorrow. Bitcoin's price is also like forex.
382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how to invest safely in cryptocurrency? on: October 05, 2019, 11:30:15 AM
if I think personally a safe way to invest in cryptocurrency is :

1. the project runs according to the roadmap and whitepaper that has been made;
2. cryptocurrency that we invest in already has a product;
3. the team always updates about the progress that is happening in the project that we invest;

These points are the quintessential for ICOs. A project fulfilling all three points above is surely going to be successful in long run. Point 1 suggests that everything running according to roadmap which means there is enough buzz about project in the market. It doesn't have to delay its operation due to less response. Point 2 is the best thing an ICO project can achieve, The actual implication of whitepaper.

Quote
4. invest in project that are in the top 1-500 in coinmarketpcap (have a high volume);

This is not as relevant as the above three. Some projects restrain themselves from listing on exchanges initially but that doesn't mean such projects are not worth investing. Rather, in my opinion, projects should avoid listing on exchanges before actual execution of project because it will only leads to dumping of coins.
383  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: is Sportsbet.io safe to bet? on: October 05, 2019, 10:09:22 AM
I've been playing it since I started gambing in crypto. I have no issue to them so far although some users have issues. I believe Sportsbet are responsive for every issue being raised since if they don't they won't many people will complain uncluding me. Some issues aren't avoidable since it happens to every websites and some cause are evading security policy.

Yeah, same. Sportsbet.io is reputed platform and I have placed football bets many times there. So far I never faced any issue.
They have spent over $30M this year on promotions so it is evident that they are financially capable to survive in long run.
Most of the accusation threads are created by the users who broke one or the other rule and when site bans them, they started crying over forums. It is important that you read terms and conditions thoroughly before using something as vulnerable as crypto gambling sites.
384  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: October 05, 2019, 09:42:42 AM
By the way, is Bernardo Silva playing or banned?
He is eligible to play, the charge is still on, and investigations are still ongoing, but Bernardo is yet to be banned.
He has until September 9 to answer to the charge.

This is really a funny one, Bernado is a laid-back guy and no racist, I feel for the young lad, that his joke with Mendy has gotten to this extent, I do hope he does not get banned.

Yeah, the guy is in prime and playing best football of his life. He scored hattrick vs Watford. I am not judging but his tweet wasn't so offensive and over the top it was directed to his friend. I don't think my friend would mind if I compare him to some cartoon.
I hope he continues playing for Man City. On the other side, he has been called up for services for Portugal National Team. His presence along with Ronaldo and Jao Felix make Portugal a serious contender in Euro next year.
385  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's most important to you in a crypto betting platform? on: October 04, 2019, 07:41:38 PM

It seems like trust is the basic thing that every crypto bet will do. There is no crypto betting site that does not give bad credentials to every user.

Now even every crypto bet will provide their best service to attract the interest of every user, I hope the most important thing in crypto betting is to look for differences for each site that exists today. Such superior features, in order to make a difference for the sake of attracting users to play on the crypto betting site.

No doubt in that. To become more appealing to users, every gambling platform has to do something different from the existing ones. Dice game was started by PrimeDice and today there are thousand of dice games out there, so we can't assume a new gambling site with basic dice can succeed in the market. Similarly, Bustadice started crash game, now we are seeing number of sites coming up with this game. So without new modifications there is no fun in launching crash game too.
Innovation is a key to survive in online competition.
386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Popularity of BITCOIN on Twitter Declining? on: October 04, 2019, 07:10:28 PM
From the statement of Op if there is a large number of tweets being tagged with bitcoin as well cryptocurrencies then there is massive adoption happening all around. Right now as the tweets have decreased it means there is not much of adoption. These are just information sharing, but the reality is different. To experience the reality you need to take a survey with equal number of participants around the globe and Twitter is not the way to determine the adoption level of bitcoin.

I quite agree with the OP on adoption part. When we say adoption, we actually talking about the new people entering the crypto market.
The rise in 2017-18 shows that interest in Bitcoin has grown all over the world and bitcoin was getting new users who were actively tweeting and reading about bitcoin. Fast-forward to present, although we can't assume that existing users are leaving market but the decrease in interest on social media sites shows that new users are not entering market in the same number as were in 2017-18.
387  Economy / Economics / Re: Rate cuts money printing inflation on: October 04, 2019, 06:36:29 PM
Let's break your question into two parts:

Do You personally feel that Fiat Currrency losing slowly puraching power?

There is no brainer in that. In every country where inflation rate is positive, fiat currency of the respective country is surely losing purchasing power. The supply of currency is increasing more than the prices goods and services covered under CPI making currency less and less valuable.

Quote
I do feel that, but the problem is i cant buy groceries food and daily needs with Bitcoin first i have to Exchange my btc to Fiat, so the Bitcoin and gold is Not really Solution for that problem!!

I disagree with you. Even though you can't fulfil daily needs with Bitcoin but it is perfect instrument to park excessive funds. For example, I have $500 and don't need them for a while, I can put them into Bitcoin and withdraw whenever required. This way, rather than keeping money idle and seeing its PP fall, I can see it growing. Converting BTC to fiat is not very time consuming process. It only takes 20-30 minutes. So investment in Bitcoin is just like ready money.
388  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 5 Reasons why I am buying Bitcoin!! on: October 04, 2019, 05:48:29 PM
You have some valid points there but there is one point that I am not in agreement with, which is the Facebook coin, and I cannot seems to link it to why Facebook coin is motivating you to buy bitcoin, because I am not praying for this coin to survive, yes it will serve as speed for market cap of altcoins, but what of bitcoin, Facebook has millions of people that does not know what cryptocurrency is which means they know nothing about bitcoin.

Agree with you, that libra has nothing to do with bitcoin it's just that they are both cryptocurrency. Even the two coin systems are different where libra is centralized. And also libra can indeed be a bitcoin threat in future if Facebook pumps these coins on a large scale because they have billions of active users.

I don't see Libra competing with Bitcoin anytime in future. Libra being a centralized coin by Facebook wouldn't be open to speculation as much as Bitcoin does. Facebook will exercise full control over Libra and won't let it become another investment, rather FB is fully-concentrated to limit Libra to be a utility token only. I doubt Libra would be traded on any exchange online.
389  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: October 04, 2019, 05:13:49 PM
Everyone is talking about the Liverpool Vs Leicester match, no one is talking about the other title rivals City who face Wolves away from home on Sunday. Wolves have been given a really big odd to win, the chances wolves would win that game is largely slim, but with city having to cope with a makeshift defensive backline, wolves could have ideas running in their head, maybe to be conservative and try to hit city on the break

Wolves this season is surely not the Wolves we seen last season. They only managed to win 1 game so far and that too against Watford (team cursed by Mia Khalifa Grin).
I don't think Wolves stand any chance against Man City. Another good game to look forward this matchday is Norwich City vs Aston Villa. Both of the promoted team have shown that they are capable of beating strong teams. It would be interesting to see who is better among them.

By the way, is Bernardo Silva playing or banned?
390  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's most important to you in a crypto betting platform? on: October 04, 2019, 04:53:09 PM
I wanted to create a thread to get a general idea of what you look for when you're betting with your Crypto's.

I'm a developer myself & building a betting platform right now - I thought where better than here to ask for advice!

The two fundamentals of gambling is trust and reputation.

Trust: The most important thing is provably fair script. It is foundation of online gambling. You can't trust the house when some trivial coding is involved in gambling. So best way to increase trust is by allowing players to verify each bet.

Reputation: You can't expect people to deposit hundred of dollars on a platform run by some new names. Therefore, to attract deposits, you need to build reputation. Reputation can be gain via different ways one of which is to add some veteran member on forum as Advisor. He/she can try your platform and vouch for you on forum.
391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are You Doing This? on: October 04, 2019, 04:26:30 PM
I want to ask all of you, do you share or give very private things (private key, passphrase, password and else) of Bitcoin to your family? I ask like this because I think if something bad happens to us (I personally hope it doesn't happen), it would be better if we pass down all the things from bitcoin that we have to our families. For example, when we have an accident that makes us comatose state (I hope it won't happen) at the hospital and we need medical expenses, it would be better if our wife or children can take money from the bitcoin that we have to use as our medical expenses.

I personally bequeath all my bitcoin knowledge to my family. I told them my bitcoin assets, how I made money from bitcoin, and also told them how to access them. All of this I did so that all of my bitcoin assets could be useful for my family. What about you guys, do you guys do the same with me?

My parents don't know much about Bitcoin. They have some theoretical knowledge about how it works but they never performed single transaction. Nor does my wife and children have any knowledge and they also don't wanna learn.  Cheesy Only person whom I can trust with these details is my sister.
Therefore, I have already set-up an email containing my all cryptocurrencies passwords, private keys and not only that even location of my other assets. This email will automatically deliver to my sister after 30 days if I don't confirm that I am alive. Legacy email scheduling is very necessary in today's world of technology. There are many services available out there like after.me but I don't trust them with my info so I created one for myself in PHP.
392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Alter coins will moon very soon. on: October 04, 2019, 02:20:51 PM
Several Altar Coins have gone up in price.I think the price of Altar coins will rise very soon.Past market analysis suggests that the prices of Altar coins increase slightly in December and January. Do you agree with me?

Good to see that most of the altcoins are green today in comparison to bitcoin. But the increase is just in range of 0.5-2% which is normal. It can't be assumed as the arrival of anything. Altcoins have already fell too much, so unless they gain 30-40% rise in next month or two, we can't expect any bull run in Dec-Jan.
393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Loan to buy Bitcoin? on: October 04, 2019, 09:47:16 AM
I'm buying ~500$ in Bitcoin every month with part of my salary. I have a stable job and my company is doing good. I'm wondering if it worth to take 20.000$ to buy 2 BTC now and pay the 500$ as loan installment instead of buying sats every month. I believe in the potential of Bitcoin to reach 50k in a couple years, but it wouldn't be possible to buy near half of BTC at the 500$ rate, so this would be something like an "advance". Hypothetically (but still possible in some probability), if BTC collapses and never recover from 8k, I would still be paying this loan for about 3 years but wouldn't starve or something like that, it would just sux for a while, since I still have another source of income. I know it's not the place to ask I will do whatever I think it's best, but if you were in my position, would you do it?

Something similar is available for Mutual Funds, you can either buy funds at one time or pay every month in Systematic Investment Plan.
But the problem in your case is:
1. Bitcoin is much more dynamic than mutual funds. When you buy all funds at once, it guarantees that you will make much more profits than buying every month because CAGR of funds is mostly positive. But in case of bitcoin, you never know when it is 20% positive or when 20% negative. So if you invest whole amount today, it may become very risky if btc fall in near future.

2. You are taking loan to buy coins. Thus, you will have an additional expenditure of interest rate. It will decrease your profit by certain percentage.
394  Economy / Economics / Re: The re-accumulation period is in on: October 04, 2019, 07:58:28 AM

The chart aligns with a perfect timing for:

1) General public has been demolished and demoralized. Everyone that is still hasn't realized altcoins are dead are about to.
2) Huge updates coming for Bitcoin, start reading on this for instance: https://arxiv.org/abs/1905.10518
3) Halving comes at the right time
4) OTC options like Bakkt are ready for boomers and computer illiterates which want exposure to Bitcoin but have no resources to keep their own

How much are you buying monthly?

Interesting analysis! But this halving is different from previous halving in one sense, the majority of holders this time are investors, not miners.
Halving has direct impact on miners. Their reward gets decreased hence making bitcoin more valuable for them. But for investors, it doesn't have any direct impact. The event will just create a favourable market condition which could be exploited by investors for a while but it is wrong to expect that we will see any long running sustaining bull run this time.
395  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: October 03, 2019, 03:12:12 PM
Leicester are quite a good team, Liverpool will be in trouble if they play like they did against Salzburg. Brendan Rodgers is a decent manager & if Liverpool aren’t on point they could drop their first points of the season.

Good thing for Liverpool is that they are playing at home ground. The support of local fans can be a perfect booster to win any match. It was only due to the support of local fans that Mo Salah was able to deliver the fourth one and Liverpool kept 3 points in almost draw encounter with Salzburg.
Last 3-4 matches showed that Liverpool is not untouchables. They can be defeated. It is evident that PL table will take a shuffle in next 3-4 matchdays.
396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in multiple altcoins on: October 03, 2019, 02:34:38 PM
One issue while holding a large number of cryptocoins is regarding the coin storage. How are you going to hold this many coins? The easiest way is to hold them in exchange wallets (Binance, Huobi.etc). But with the frequency of exchanges getting hacked, I don't really think that it is a safe way to hold your money. Another option is to hold them in multi-coin desktop wallets (such as CoinSpot, Trust Wallet and Exodus), but I am not very familiar with them and I don't think that they are easy to use (or safe to use).

I use FreeWallet to hold multiple currencies at one place. It is online wallet and don't provide private keys but since the value of my coins are not enough, I am not concerned much. You can try it too, it is easy to use as well as provide option to buy coins within the app. Also, the interface of app is quite good. It provides value of coins in both BTC and USD terms.
397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin isn't just an investment, it is the future on: October 03, 2019, 01:25:53 PM
I agree on that. Being in a digital age now is what makes it more worth it to acquire more bitcoin. In the future we will be using it more often as part of our daily transactions. Actually its already happening now. So, imagine the future when everyone is using it as medium of exchange.
Using Bitcoin for daily transaction is already happening thanks to Satoshi for creating a wonderful project that almost everyone benefited the outcome until today. And to think that it would still exist in the coming future with a different approaches and usage as a digital money. I wonder how things in the future if cryptocurrency and fiat is being used both for transactions just like what is happening in exchanges.

Bitcoin was meant to be a currency. In Satoshi's words: Bitcoin is peer-to-peer cash system. However, he kept one thing wrong that defies the fundamental rule of money and i.e. limited supply. Money is not limited, it is inflationary and its purchasing power keep decreasing with time. But Bitcoin is limited and deflationary in nature. This change made Bitcoin more like an investment. I don't think in future things will change because problem is not with current use but the fundamental of Bitcoin, it can't be used widely as currency else it will make businesses very unstable.
398  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: October 03, 2019, 12:28:41 PM
Not bad! You got prediction absolutely right.  Wink
Actually Barcelona is my favorite team and I get quite sentimental every time they play. Therefore, my 5:1 prediction was quite sentimental one, lol. But it was beautiful game, every second of the game was awesome. I enjoyed it thoroughly especially the second half. What an enthralling performance from both, Messi and Suarez.

All due respect to Leo, Frenkie, Arthur & Marc-Andre (they're all top of tops at their positions), Barca with Valverde as a coach is a loose cannon. You can't expect anything peculiar from this team, especially in away games. Barca can play like a Champions League contender but at the same time like a mediocre LaLiga team. Pure and really annoying (for everyone that sympathizes with Catalans) charm of the team run by an incompetent guy.

I won't argue with that. Valverde is an average manager, his tactics are standard and too ordinary. The possession play and build-up from wings, this tactic is used by almost 30-40% clubs around the world. Considering the stature of Barcelona, he is not capable enough. Barcelona needs coach who can build a link-up play between midfield and forward line and at the same time, keep defensive line intact. My choice would be Erik Ten Hag.
399  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: October 03, 2019, 09:09:36 AM
~snip~

The Barcelona XI for the match has been declared and guess what? Messi is starting the game!!
The main reason for Barcelona's struggle in Laliga away games this season is the absence of Messi in team. But now he has fully recovered and ready to fire!
Also tonight XI has De Jong, Arthur and Busquets in midfield along with Roberto, Lenglet, Pique and Semedo in defence. It is interesting that Valverde chose Semedo above Firpo to start as Left Back. Let see how it goes. Also I would love if Barca substitute Suarez with Dembele in second half and we will see Griezmann, Messi and Dembele trio for the first time ever!

My Prediction: Barcelona 5 : 1 Inter

You might confuse Inter for  Milan when you made this prediction Cheesy

Joke aside, and with all due respect to Messi, as Barcelona is completely different team when he is on, i don't think that 5-1 is realistic result, 2-1 would be my prediction. But of course anything can happen, we saw it last night on Spurs vs Bayern game

Not bad! You got prediction absolutely right.  Wink

400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why not use Exchange instead of Mixer? on: October 03, 2019, 08:46:46 AM
So in short, it is very easy to do anonymous transfer by depositing funds on exchange and withdrawing to other addresses. Why to pay 1-3% fees on Mixers when it could be done for much less on Exchanges. Exchanges like Binance charge just 0.0005 BTC to process withdrawals.

You have a point in your argument, but exchanges require kyc which means that people can use exchanges only if they have funds from honest places. A criminal will not take stolen funds to exchange, he will take stolen funds to mixers, which is why I believe that in a few years governments will pursue the mixers more severely and I believe the punishment for executing a mixer may be as severe as possible. Note that most exchanges and even online casinos are asking people to do KYC and it won't be long before the wallets also make people do KYC

Agreed! More and more governments across the world are making it difficult for people to use cryptocurrencies without restrictions. Days are not far when mixers scope will be limited to very less countries. In my country, it is not possible to run a business like mixer. With time, more and more countries will start banning services like mixing.
Also, it is not correct to expect that people with dirty money will ever prefer Exchange over Mixers not matter how high are the fees.
