381  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Black Pearl Investments - 15% Weekly Interest. Enough booty for everybody! on: August 31, 2012, 01:58:01 PM
I didn't really deposit anything, and I didn't think anyone else was sending anything. I thought everyone "got the joke." Now I feel bad.

#3 is less than true. 1 and 2 are valid.

very strange. And really funny.
385  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: pirate payments list -- accounts paid: 22/459 on: August 31, 2012, 01:14:37 AM
This is insulting. BTCST is a product of this forum. Nobody confirms = it didn't happen.
386  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [POLL] How will Pirateat40's debt repayment unfold? on: August 31, 2012, 12:56:19 AM

But you will violate the privacy of people who sent messages to him.  Angry

I'm not going to publicly release the PMs until a few months from now, if ever. I'll create a topic about it then and we can have a public debate.

Honestly I would like to know now. I had no idea you would think it is okay to just send out PM's of not only people you think are guilty but also innocent people!

I'm honestly shocked and will no longer trust you to hold secret personal information Sad

Good, you shouldn't trust anybody with secret personal information--because you don't have to. If you're really worried about the things you say on bitcointalk, or anywhere for that matter... there's an algorithm for that.

PPT operators don't deserve scammer tags at all, in my opinion. They provided a service that useful to those who wished to gamble on a black box investment. If people really want to throw their money at a Ponzi scheme, they should by all means be enabled. And I think a Ponzi scheme is a horrible thing.

I don't blame gas station owners for lung cancer because they sell cigarettes. I don't blame the tobacco farmers. If you wanna smoke, you're going to pay for it later. We tried to tell you.

I don't really get what you're suggesting, but I'm not in the proper mind state at the moment so I'm gonna go play guitar and I'll come back later.

lmao.

Good luck!
392  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Threats and countermeasures in buying real world things through the mail on: August 29, 2012, 11:10:04 PM
Since the "book" has to eventually arrive in your hands, there is no way to completely eliminate risk.

The best way I can imagine is to set the name on the package to be the name of the previous resident. When the package arrives, walk straight from the mailbox to your outside trashcan and throw it away. Wait a few days and then take it back out at night. Plausible deniability all the way around, I believe.

I hope I will never need to do something like this.
393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Take a Break from the Pirate Talk and visit this thread.... :) on: August 29, 2012, 10:57:20 PM
Anywho, Bitcoin needs to press on .  I would like to know who else we can reach out to that we haven't yet that could give more influence to bitcoin. I know we have Max Kieser's of the world.. but lets start a list....

EFF - https://www.eff.org/
FSF - http://www.fsf.org/

Would these guys support us? I've always admired them for standing firmly behind freedom.

No to EFF.

Random names popping into my head:

Bill Maher

Bleh. Maher can be funny but his actual opinions, typically, are awful.

Maybe so, I really don't know much about his opinions. But I do know that he is very opinionated and vocal about a lot of controversial issues.
395  Economy / Gambling / Re: CENTRAL THREAD FOR FORUM BETS: Make your own bets right here on bitcointalk! on: August 29, 2012, 08:37:10 PM
I changed the name of the thread, these aren't my bets.

All bets are welcome here, but basically I am also offering to moderate if anyone chooses. Anyone else can do the same.
396  Economy / Speculation / Re: Keep your eyes open for another pirate crash. on: August 29, 2012, 08:19:21 PM
Once people realize that the price isn't going to crash because those BS&T coins aren't going to materialize ever, it'll remove the imaginary downward pressure they'll start buying up at a steady pace again. I predict we'll be over $20 by the end of October because of that. Likelihood of a crash from this fiasco is pretty low, imo.

IMO,
with or with out  BS&T coins its going down, at this point its only a matter of degree

Why?
397  Other / Off-topic / Re: What we've learnt today. on: August 29, 2012, 08:08:51 PM
That 41 early user accounts on this forum, all numbered in sequence, have recently all vanished, but at lease the first name on that sequence remains.

Wait, what?

Thanks for all the detective work. Often fun to read.
398  Economy / Gambling / Re: BOB'S BETS: Make your own bets right here on bitcointalk! on: August 29, 2012, 08:01:50 PM
I'd like to avoid proctoring bets like this, because screenshots are no evidence at all. Of course your bet is welcome in the thread to other members but it's not a bet that I would like to make a decision on. If I'm not escrowing the coins, it wouldn't really matter anyway.
399  Economy / Gambling / CENTRAL THREAD FOR FORUM BETS: Make your own bets right here on bitcointalk! on: August 29, 2012, 06:51:14 PM
Since I am skiddish about sending my bitcoins to a 3rd party betting site, I'd like to open a thread here for any kind of bet for forum members here. The weighted system on betsofbitco.in is annoying to me. Forum betting is all the rage these days!

This will begin as an experiment, because I need to see how to run this in the most efficient manner. The layout of this thread will change as necessary (for instance, I may start asking for bet statements in pm's, which I will then put here in the OP). If there is enough demand, I would like to streamline this and make it a useful service.

The idea would be to post a statement in this thread, and I will evaluate it for clarity. Once I accept it, other members will be able to take the other side. I am available for escrow, but that be will up to the bet maker. It will be up to the bet maker to gauge the trustworthiness of other members, so only they can accept bets on their wager.

Are there any other forum members here interested in helping me proctor this? It would be very helpful to have a small cartel of trusted members to evaluate the outcomes and maintain the thread.

This is all just a messy brainstorm right now, so I'm asking for input and gauging interest before accepting any bets. Any help and input would be appreciated. I'm not planning on making any money from this, because I don't see it taking up a lot of my time. But if it is successful and time consuming I may have to start taking a cut.

I think this could be a great alternative to betsofbitco.in.
