I have been working on the idea of a multipool to drive some interest to the coin after the mining phase is over this should of course increase the value of the coin. A more challenging problem is to find a way of using the multipool as a medium to secure the network without affecting its profitability too much from the point of view of the users, some alternatives: - Redirect 1% of the hashrate to blitzcoin and charge 1% as administration fee, since most of the multipools charge 2% as an administration fee this would be competitive. This approach is quite simple for the user but is not really secure if there is only one multipool, this approach would work only if there are multiple multipools working the same way but it could be a waste of resources if the hahsrate is too high and the network could be secured with much less than that.
- The second alternative is to have a pool that disconnect miners X minutes after Y number of hours, and encouraging the users to use a failover to solo mine or use a pool that are mining blitz. Of course the problem with this is that the users must be honest about it and use the "down time" to secure the network, instead of mining some other more profitable coin but if they are interested in the multipool it means that they are somehow interested in the coin success so they should have the incentive to do it. The challenge is to make the pool profitable even taking into account this downtimes and also to find the correct parameters for X and Y.
If there is some interest from people to operate the pool I might give it a spin and release it as an open source project, since I have no problem developing it but don't have the time to operate it myself. Also I am a backend developer so graphic/web designers are also welcomed to help. What do you guys think ?. Multipool is a great idea, this will work =) I think the first option (redirect 1%) will be best! |

jesus christ why is everybody mining at hashfever?? The pool's stratum is terrible my miner never goes for more than 5 minutes at a time over there before kicking me to next failover pool and i lose so many shares.
Idk why all the hash is there. Im taking it out of my pool list completely.
I had the same issue there, then switched to suprnova and... got 0 coins at all. Thanks God I've switched to multipools.eu later, they are working OK (no disconnect issues) and sending all the coins without problems |

I have a suggestion - why not to start some marketing campain for the multipools, allowing to "mine" NXT? Blackcoin, that's just a useless (except nice speculations))) clone of bitcoin, attracted huge attention with the help of such pools, but I believe many of BC users will migrate to NXT, if will know more about it.
The pools like hashrate.org aren't quite ready for primetime yet (stats/graphs not in place, etc). But I agree, this might be a marketing opportunity. Blackcoin started advertising it even before pools were ready as well, if I'm not mistaken they've just finished beta-tests (sold my stake already, so not paying much attention there now). But they already attracted tonns of new users, and BC rate is few times higher, then it was before the pools were started. Right now, when we have a competitors already, maybe it will really better to wait till the pools will be 100% ready, but I still see a chance for nice promotion even with current state of pools. Miners can use them right now anyway, for them the profit is priority, not graphs etc |
