381  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction does more harm than mere financial loss on: February 02, 2024, 02:56:03 PM
Ofcourse it does more harm because the reason we lose big is because of gambling itself.
Financial losses can happen due to any reason but many people recover from it by working smart.
But the people who lose money because of gambling addiction are the ones who have to face more trouble.
Coming out of gambling addiction is hard and then he also has to recover the money he has lost.
So that directly shows us that gambling losses are worse than other financial losses.
382  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who among you here is gambling at work? on: February 02, 2024, 02:45:52 PM
I don't usually gamble while working but I do make price predictions on freebitco.in once a month and I don't see if it's a working day or not.
So that doesn't count I guess since I am not actively gambling while at work. It should be an prohibited act though.
Work is worship and people should focus on work rather than entertainment at work.
383  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: stop the unnecessary blame on gambling whenever you get unlucky on: February 01, 2024, 06:10:02 PM

I believe that before one make a decision in life, they should've already weighed the consequences of making the right or wrong choice, then put their fate on luck coupled with their little knowledge concerning what they're about to decide on, so why complain and play the blame game when things go wrong? "Share your thought on how gambling has come through for you if you got any".

So many gamblers are doing this I know a lot in my neighborhood who blame almost everything, even the weather or the black cat that walks in front of them, this is just their reason so they will not blame themselves so they can go back to gambling, they don't want to blame themselves because if they do that people will question them on why they continue gambling when they will just blame themselves when they lose.
So most of the time they blame the casino like they are being cheated or the casinos are not being fair, they are so self-righteous that they believe that they did the right thing so they cannot lose.

We have so many gamblers who are poor bettors and then blame the casinos for losing a lot of money, some of them even open a scam accusation just to make it appear that the casinos are at fault, when in fact their being a poor bettors or manipulating the rules are what cause their losses or being banned.

We can see such people almost everywhere who do no accept their mistakes and instead blame others for it.
They don't even want to listen what the other is saying and complete blames the other for it.
It's better to stay away from such people because them understand is like digging your own grave.
384  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Proverbs and Sayings that Act as Triggers to Gambling on: February 01, 2024, 06:00:14 PM
Just as we have expressed our concerns about certain gambling advertisements serving as potential triggers, I have observed and I think that there are gambling proverbs or quotes can also play a role in influencing individuals. Look at this Chinese proverb, "If you don’t gamble, you won’t know how lucky you are." From this proverb, it can spur a regular person to explore gambling as a means to test their luck and become hooked. Also, the person who has been gambling will want to continue gambling while being hopeful that someday they would eventually be lucky and hit the jackpot.

What other proverbs or sayings could potentially act as triggers, enticing individuals to initiate or perpetuate their gambling activities?

It's the first time I have heard that proverb. There are 2 similar proverbs I know of.
One is that "You have to risk it to get the biscuit" and the other one is a proverb in Hindi saying that "Risk hai toh Ishq hai" meaning if there is risk then there is love.
So yeah, while we do have such proverbs which attracts us to gambling it becomes our responsibility to be aware of it and maintain healthy gambling habits.
385  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gambling for fun vs gambling for the financial benefit. on: February 01, 2024, 05:55:15 PM
I have read a lot of thread on this board talking about the need to gamble responsibly and suggesting that gambling is meant to be done for fun and not to be seen as a means of livelihood. While this is theoretically alright, in the reality so many persons actually gamble because they want to get some financial top up from the gamble.

What is mostly common in my neighborhood and that I mostly do is soccer betting and if I am not exaggerating, 90% of the people that do soccer betting do do because they want to win money.

They can watch the match for fun but as long as it involved them paying money before gambling, most persons don't normally see it as fun and this is the reason why after placing a particular bet, if the game isn't successful they continue betting hoping to get a win along the way thervy being seen as addict.

Do you really see gambling as more of fun than a means to a financial end?

how much can you put into gambling before it removes the fun aspect of gambling out of it?

It really depends on the amount of money you are gambling with.
If the amount is ridiculously low then all you have to do is enjoy the game and if you win you get a nice little reward.
That is how you have fun while gambling but for most people greed takes over and then they start betting heavy.

My prediction was wrong for the price range of $37.5k - $40k and it seems that the price will indeed stay inbetween $40k - $45k.
Just few more hours left to lock this range and people are going to win a decent 1.9x returns. That's a pretty good return.
The Bitcoin price seems to be resilient at this level and not dropping below 41k USD anytime soon. The longer we stay in such a level the bigger panicky situation it would become when the next up or down trend beings, then everyone will join the bandwagon. Good luck to those who are betting on the same because you never know what might happen in the last few minutes, but it usually takes a day or two to complete such sudden movements, so carry on.

Any more of that ETF good news pumping happening? Grin

Especially in crypto, we have often seen price spiking up or down during the last moment.
Just 2 days before the bitcoin price prediction was to going to close we saw a sudden drop in BTC price.
But soon later it was recovered and at the end of the month BTC price was already around $43k.
Let's what Feb end shows us. Sometimes I feel it's easier to bet on ETH price instead.

Merits shared : Decreased from 318 to 61

So the actual merits shared decreased from 61 to 28.

388  Economy / Exchanges / Re: All my savings on BKEX are gone. on: January 31, 2024, 04:55:53 PM
Hello everyone, since May 29th, 2023 I have not been able to access my account in BKEX Exchange because the exchange has blocked all trading for all customers. To date there is no information or update about what is happening with our money and whether we will get it back one day or not. I think we would be cheated. There are supposedly companies on Twitter that can restore the coins and transfer them back to the responsible victims. My wife is it possible and can these people be trusted? Has anyone ever heard of this company TECHGUARDFORT SERVICES (Twitter: @Techguardfort3)?

There is no such company which can recover lost coins and get them back for you. So stay away from people who promise such a thing.
If you have been around for a while then you would know that you shouldn't keep any of your coins on an exchange yet you chose to keep them on exchange.
Learn from this mistake and take it as a lesson and don't ever repeat this mistake again.
389  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: January 31, 2024, 04:50:47 PM
I think the Bitcoin price prediction is still above $40k - $45k and it seems like those who predict below $40k have not been lucky even though there is still a chance for the next few hours, but it seems Bitcoin is still consistently above $40k only getting Outcome Odds of no more than 2.00 no What's more, I can at least double my bitcoin so I can use it for other sports bets as usual or withdraw the winnings straight away and try to buy FUN tokens to add to the contents of my bag in my account. Wink

The price of bitcoin is still at the price level of $42k - $43k, it seems that it will last for a few hours or until January 31, so the winner will be determined for the bitcoin price prediction at $40k - $45k, coincidentally bet more at that level because it is enough It's convincing if you look at the daily charts that since yesterday the Bitcoin price has been gradually rising but not too high slowly until now, still waiting for February 1st to see the winnings of my bet on the Bticoin price prediction, including ethereum too.
I think price will be between 40-45K at the end of the day and winners will receive x1.91 outcome. if today is the unlucky day and Bitcoin will see a huge fall, then those who made a bet on 37.5-40K price range will receive x2.63 outcome. There are exceptionally attractive outcome odds for those who made extreme bets but I think there is a very low chance of seeing price outside of 37.5-45K range.
I believe, those, who made a bet on 40-45K will win. So, congrats earlier from my side, I'm very confident!

My prediction was wrong for the price range of $37.5k - $40k and it seems that the price will indeed stay inbetween $40k - $45k.
Just few more hours left to lock this range and people are going to win a decent 1.9x returns. That's a pretty good return.
390  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If a addict lives within, which method would you choose to help them on: January 31, 2024, 04:44:19 PM
As a member of a family and there is a gambling addict within, which method do you think it's the best to rip off the addict from your family member?

1. Talk to them and don't leave their side for too long, show them some love and make sure they don't have anything to do with gambling ever again, be soft and gentle with them.

2. Be harsh about it, force them to quit, let them know that gambling isn't this safe, bounce on them all the time because you love them, don't go any soft on them, because been soft won't make them see reasons why it's bad to be a gambling addict.

Which do you think it's best? Some people do think that been soft and gentle will be more effective and some people think that been harder on them is the real love here, they need to make them stop by force.

What do you think?

You have already mentioned 2 ways to try them out and obviously number 1 would be the first preference for anybody.
If the person recovers from the addiction then well and good and otherwise we can try out the 2nd option.
There's no harm in doing anything to recover your close one from gambling addiction.
391  Local / India / Re: Why is Bitcoin getting dumped after the ETF approval? on: January 29, 2024, 03:59:50 PM
BTW, Indians can invest in Bitcoin ETFs, there is a way to do it but, why anyone would do it as investing in an ETF won't give anyone Satoshis as they will get a paper on behalf of the financial institution.

You are right that investing in bitcoin directly is far better than investing in bitcoin ETF but there is one huge reason to buy bitcoin ETF for Indian users.
The 30% tax. I am assuming that by buying bitcoin ETF we will be able to avoid the huge 30% direct tax on bitcoin.
What do you think ?
Money obtained from Selling the ETF eventually will attract taxation due to Capital gains, have you thought of that? It is obviously going to be lower than 30% added together, but eventually the tax officials will understand that and put the 30% tax on ETFs capital gains too.

What we need is a core reduction in this 30% taxation at first, not sure how but lets be hopeful and see how the rest of the world follows ETFs over the next few months.

That's what am talking about. The tax will be lower than the current 30% flat tax.
Also, the government shouldn't tax just crypto ETFs at 30% even if they decide to increase the tax because that would be very unfair.
They should tax all ETFs that way.
392  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Older men vs Younger boys in gambling, Which enjoys Gambling for fun the more? on: January 29, 2024, 03:29:24 PM
I guess most people will say it's the older people who tend to enjoy gambling more than the younger ones but it's actually the opposite.
According to research, the younger ones gamble more than the old ones since they have an active income source to gamble.
Young people have more dynamics to gamble on such as sports betting, price prediction, casino games etc...

This is based on research so it's true. I thought it was it was the old guys who enjoys more when gambling because they are more matured and had learn from their previous experience, but you can't argue with research, right? Maybe you can share the source of that research so we can also read that because I'm quite interested in this subject.

I have provided a link below which you can verify that shows that most of the users were adults.

Old people rely more on lotteries and other luck based games. So young people gamble more and hence enjoy more than old men
Mostly maybe but there are old people who are smart in gambling, they don't rely on luck and bet on game that the chance of winning is close to none, like a lottery. I've seen old people who gambles in sports and cards, particularly poker.

May be you are right but as far as I know most of the oldies like to play lotteries a lot. It depends on person to person though.
393  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is addiction bad only when it is a problem? on: January 28, 2024, 07:43:48 AM
Addiction to gambling is not a problem for some gamblers because there are some gamblers who are addicted to gambling, but it doesn't affect the other activities of their life. They take care of their families, wear good clothes, smell nice, meet up with appointments but still cannot control the urge to gamble. It doesn't affect their life because they can afford to gamble and manage the loses they make. So, to these people addiction is not a problem. They are addicts, but because they are successful, their addiction is ignored or excused as it is not a problem.
So I am need to know, is addiction only bad when it is a problem?

I guess so. I mean as long as you are fulfilling your responsibilities correctly, gambling addiction won't be a problem.
I wonder if it is even an addiction because if it is an addiction then you won't be able to focus on other things correctly at all.

395  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When I'm emotional, I LOSS! on: January 28, 2024, 07:06:00 AM
Hey, guys! Are any of you emotional gamblers who often lose because you can't control what you feel? When you lose, do you tend to double your bets or chase your losses, driven by a pride that can't accept defeat? Do you consider this a problem? If so, has anyone here been able to solve this kind of problem themselves, and if yes, how did you do it?

I have this problem, and based on my personal experience, I find that sometimes I get challenged but not too greedy because I don't have a problem quitting when I'm winning. However, when I'm losing, that's where my struggle lies.

That's why I shared it here; I feel that some of you may experience the same challenges, and I'd love to hear your ideas or experiences on how to win this battle so we can enjoy gambling.

It has been proven already that being emotional in gambling and trading often leads to losing money big time.
If you are being emotional and gambling then it's common to lose money because of chasing losses.
To control this, all you have to do is stop gambling if you are losing money continuously.
You should have patience and observe your bets and if you lose 4-6 bets continuously then just stop gambling for the day and come back later.
396  Local / India / Re: New Scam related to URL ban for exchanges in India - [Awareness] on: January 28, 2024, 06:44:37 AM
Everyone wants to get rich quick and that is the reason why these scammers try to use a shortcut to get rich quick.
Instead of focusing on being productive and developing real usecase products, they scam others and get quick and easy money.
It's the greed of quick money that makes them keep scamming others but at then end, at some point of time, they have to payback. #Karma.
397  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning] Trezor users are receiving fake emails with phishing links. on: January 28, 2024, 06:32:34 AM
First, it was ledger and now Trezor users are facing such attacks. I hope nobody falls for these phishing mails.
Atleast, we haven't heard people losing money due to these phishing mails yet, which is a good sign.
I guess people are becoming more aware of these attacks now and are avoiding such phishing mails.
People should learn more about security so that they don't lose money to such scams.
The database of emails used by users to contact support was hacked. The team claims that this database was stored on another server that was not properly protected. In any case, this is a threat to users and developers must take into account all the nuances. Now there are a lot of references to phishing attacks, and other schemes used by scammers, and therefore users are more careful about such mailings or other distributions, that require them to take action or follow some suspicious links.

That's a very lame excuse from Trezor. They being a very well reputed hardware wallet company developing secured hardware wallets should not take it lightly.
They should be keeping all of their servers secured correctly. That's their only job to do.

First, it was ledger and now Trezor users are facing such attacks. I hope nobody falls for these phishing mails.

No victims have yet reported being scammed by this phishing attack. But we cannot say for sure that no one has fallen into this trap of scammers, because many times it is seen that victims of scams remain silent for unknown reasons. Scammers are now creating fake phishing websites for almost every popular wallet name, and using stolen databases of crypto users to promote those fake websites.

If this continues, maybe in the coming days scammers will create something more advanced targeting crypto users that will be even more effective than it is now. So to make their every move fail, more publicity is needed to make crypto users more alert.

That is quite obvious because once users get to know the scammers tricks then they don't fall for their traps easily.
Scammers then try a different approach to target the victims and this cycle keeps going on.

399  Local / India / Re: Shadow Ban on Crypto Exchanges on: January 27, 2024, 05:31:50 PM

Another question that comes to my mind is why will other exchanges accept AML policy. The simple reason is that the owners of these exchanges except Binance have been anonymous. No one knows where these exchanges are located as they don't have any physical presence. Binance will only co-operate as it has one of the biggest user bases in India. So, I am only expecting the Binance to agree to all terms and conditions of the government of India.

Most exchange has their headquarters and their CEOs are known to the public but they are obviously operating from region where crypto-friendly policies are available for their benefits. Now every government is sqeezing them to accept their regulation policies or just leave the premises which is not really new and it's something initiated by US and still followed by US.

No business will look to skip India because we are the highest populated country in the world and it's really freemarket unlike China so I guess every exchange will try to comply the regulations to increase their business.

Almost every popular exchange having Indian customers are having their headquarters in some country. None of them are anonymous.
As for the AML policies, if the exchange has a huge Indian user base then they don't have an option other than to accept the policies.
400  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies how do you feel when your post is criticised. on: January 27, 2024, 04:59:36 PM
Before starting this topic so many things have been on my mind because I know how it pains for someone to criticise a write up or a post.

In a forum like this where so many intellects are contributing to a particular discussion there is always a room for criticism and the ability for you as newbie to absorb it as a learning process makes you unique and smart . For me Criticism is a process of learning because when ever I am been criticised I usually seize the opportunity to add more knowledge because I often see it as a corrective measures to widen my horizon .

Additionally, I will sincerely advice all the newbies who are quick to anger or discouraged when their post are been criticised to see it as a means of learning and not to react rudely because mistake brings correction .

That's a very good thought. As an old member of this forum I can say that we all face criticism for our posts at some point of time.
As a newbie, it's hard to get over it and we keep thinking about it all the time but we have to hold our emotions and keep going on.
We should learn from it whatever we can and sometimes we have to answer what is right but then again we shouldn't get into a long debate with the other.
It's good to have healthy debates but if it's turning negative then it's better to stop reacting.
