3861  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: questions on trust wallet and crypto credit cards? on: September 12, 2022, 07:12:55 PM
1. if buy a new phone and install trust wallet,  memorize the phrases, receive some tethers and then stop using the phone for good until a future time:  is there any chance of your trust wallet getting hacked?
There is always a chance for your phone to get hacked, but it's more likely that your seed phrases gets leaked by your own mistake.

2. do people keep millions worth of crypto in trust wallet?
No, unless they crazy and are not very smart.
More coins should be kept on offline wallet, not regular smartphone with internet connection.

3. any chance of your trust wallet account getting frozen like they might do on exchanges?
I think that Trust wallet is non-centralized, but I still don't recommend it because it's closed source.
It can happen to shitcoins, ethereum stablecoins and tokens, but that is more related to blockchain they use.
3862  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cold storage and using USB to transfer files without malware or viruses? on: September 12, 2022, 07:03:23 PM
My question is, should I ever use a USB on this laptop again or is there a risk of transferring viruses?
Installing linux os will almost eliminate any fear of malware, and you can also use USB just fine.
There is special software called USbGuard that limits and whitelists only specific USB devices, while making all other usb devices unusable:
https://usbguard.github.io/

My other question is, will I ever need to have to transfer anything to the cold storage laptop again after installing electrum? What about the offline signing to send transactions?
You can add anything you want offline using USB connection, but make you don't transfer some malware.

The laptop does have a camera on it and its an old windows xp laptop, will I be able to use that camera to read QR codes for offline signing? If so, should I also install software to make sure that feature works?
I would never use windows XP OS in 2022, it's much better to format hard drive and install fresh Linux OS (Fedora, Ubuntu, etc.).
For camera you can use simple plastic cover that can be purchased for little as $1, and you can this both for privacy protection and for QR codes scanning.
Most Linux OS have camera software by default and you can try finding separate QR code apps.
3863  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: cheapest and safest way to buy bitcoin on: September 12, 2022, 06:53:26 PM
And what is the minimum amount to buy...I would prefer to buy just 10$ or 20$ for now.
You can try purchasing Bitcoin directly using Payoneer account and I think you can find some trusted forum members who can make that trade for you.
Go in Currency Exchange section to find members who are offering this service, or try using BestChange to find exchanges that accepts this payment method, but beware that those exchanges can be risky:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0

Alternative option is to buy Bitcoin with cash locally using some P2P exchanges, maybe Bisq or LocalCryptos.
3864  Other / Meta / Re: Identifying the OP at a glance (SMF patch) on: September 12, 2022, 06:27:09 PM
I probably never would've spent the ~hour figuring out how to add it because it strikes me as unnecessary, but I also don't see the harm in it. Since you wrote the code, I added it. Thanks!
Very nice surprise and with this move you closed the mouth of everyone who said that forum as not updated for years Wink

Great contribution work again PowerGlove!

I guess the BPIP extension changes it for you.
Correct.
BPIP extension is moving OP letters below username, and I prefer this myself.
3865  Other / Meta / Re: Trade Feedback vs Non Trade Feedback on: September 12, 2022, 05:30:23 PM
And the output will be visible by score with a different color.
Do you think it will be a good idea to force this when user will leave a feedback?
Adding different colors is not going to make anything better.
I would not create any additional complication with making separate feedback for trust, and everyone can already see the reason why feedback is given to specific member.
Even if separate feedback would exist, someone would need to review all feedback given so far, and even then you would also have people giving feedback in wrong place.
3866  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor Suite will add a CoinJoin mixing protocol on: September 10, 2022, 09:21:17 PM
It doesn't work that way.
I honestly don't know why you are blabbering about some secret government agencies, unless you had a very boring day  Roll Eyes
If you are using closed source devices and wallets than you can speculate about this things much more.

How do you know that UTXOs and all its history are already not being checked, compared, exchanged, and stored in some databases somewhere to be used for who knows what? There isn't going to be proof for that and open-source or closed-source doesn't matter one bit for that to be the case.
Code is open source and haters would be first to expose this and report it everywhere.
Maybe ask owners od closed source wallets if they doing that with their secret signed NDA's and privacy policy third parties.
I still didn't hear a single case in the whole world that people complained about blacklisted transaction using wasabi, when I hear it I will be the first to report it here.
Till then I leave you to write fantasy fbiciami6 stories  Cheesy
3867  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Passport (FE) hardware wallet review and walkthrough on: September 10, 2022, 09:03:03 PM
Side question, though: How many of you guys read every company's privacy policy who you order from? Do you do this categorically, just for Bitcoin-related stuff, and if so, why? Interested in hearing / reading your thoughts.
Generally I read them but sometimes I don't manage to read 100% with full attention especially if they contain a lot of reading material.
Before I used to be much less careful but I guess I learned my lesson.

For anyone who is interested BTC Sessions posted good video tutorial for new Foundation Passport batch2 hardware wallet signing device.
This is full video starting with turning on device, generating seed words, to using their new envoy app, blue wallet and sparrow wallet.
Watch to the end of this video if you want to see downsides he noticed so far:

3868  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Do Hardware wallet Manufacturers Ship to PO Boxes or Not? on: September 10, 2022, 08:52:46 PM
It's strange that Keystone wallet is not supporting PO Boxes when they recently opened dedicated Amazon shop in Europe.
For other hardware wallets I think that UPS mailboxes are better option than PO boxes in US, or simply use any alternative  delivery address.
If I could choose I would always try to buy them locally in official shops.

Ledger use BitPay? Ugh. Imagine completing BitPay's KYC requirements to buy a hardware wallet. What a ridiculous security risk.
They are widely known for their ''famous'' security practices, especially when you combine BitPay kyc with millions of leaked private information  Tongue
3869  Other / Meta / Re: Identifying the OP at a glance (SMF patch) on: September 10, 2022, 07:59:49 PM
Based on a suggestion from dkbit98, I've updated the patches above (A, B & C) to include a tooltip (explanation text) when you hover over the "OP" letters (see below for an example).

I've also added a new style which uses this tooltip together with an icon (as suggested by KingsDen). Right now, the icon is Unicode character "✍" (U+270D: Writing Hand).
I think this looks much better than every other propositions you posted before.
Hand icon or something similar next to profile username is much better and especially with popup explanation.
Adding letters instead of icon can be confusing for some people, so I think you find much better option.

PS
I am not sure how this would affect BPIP extension that have DT1 and DT2 icon in same place as your proposition.

3870  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor Suite will add a CoinJoin mixing protocol on: September 09, 2022, 02:04:32 PM
If no, i doubt anyone can provide proof unless someone who works there become whistleblower.
Or someone could simply do one easy experiment with sending their coins to wasabi coinjoin and see what happens... if bomb will explode, special forces storm your apartment, and your transaction gets rejected for some reason.
Full disclosure, when I did my review of wasabi wallet few months ago I was not able to complete my coinjoin for unknown reasons, after trying for few days.
During this time there was some issue with Tor network so this could be one of the reasons.
One more problem I faced is that I was not able to connect Trezor device with wasabi wallet, and I was not the only one with this issue.

3871  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: is the volume of mixers from this site is accurate? on: September 09, 2022, 01:47:37 PM
I find ste that show volume of all mixers is this accurate they can determine the volume?
This is a scam website and I wouldn't trust anything I read there including random volume!
First thing I noticed is they have fake scam mixer in second place with blendar.com domain, and same thing is for CryptoMixer that leads to suspicious domain cryptomixer-io.net.
It's probably the same thing with all other mixing websites they listed.

Domain is coming from Ukraine, Sumskaya Oblast :

3872  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Who controls github.com/bitcoin? on: September 09, 2022, 01:19:36 PM
Most likely, this question has been asked a thousand times, but my Google search did not give me a clear answer to this simple question.
Simple answer: mICrOSoFt.
They own the github so they are controlling everything hosted there, and they can ban anything they want.
I am not sure they would dare doing that any time soon with Bitcoin, but maybe recent incident with tornadocash was just a testing ground for them.

3873  Other / Meta / Re: [Script] BitcoinTalk User Notes on: September 09, 2022, 01:05:54 PM
So, it's definitely made me a little more efficient, and hopefully that benefits the community. So, while I can see why this wouldn't be as useful or in demand for normal usage, this sort of niche area it works out pretty efficient.
It's very useful for me, and I think this should be something that exist by default in forum.
I don't have to use neutral trust feedback anymore in some situation when I have my personal opinion about some member, that is not directly related with trust.
What I like is that this notes are clearly visible even if member is ignored, so you can add explanation why exactly you are ignoring this specific member Smiley

One question for TryNinja:
- How do we export and import notes with Tampermonkey extension + BitcoinTalk User Notes?
3874  Other / Meta / Re: Identifying the OP at a glance (SMF patch) on: September 09, 2022, 12:53:59 PM
...
I like Style C best with OP written below username.

I'd much rather thread starter, original topic starter or thread creator underneath their name or something, because I can guarantee it, not everyone will know what "OP" stands for.
Perhaps adding simple popup window when you hover over username (or OP letters) could solve this.
Something like that exist in BPIP extension, so when you hover over any added icon you will see short explanation, and by default it works the same for username profile like this:

Code:
View the profile off ...

or for profile icon:

Code:
View Profile

It's the same for contact details and any information added in profile, like email or personal message.

3875  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor Suite will add a CoinJoin mixing protocol on: September 09, 2022, 11:57:29 AM
Not at all. I'm very pro-coinjoin. The only thing I'm anti here is wallets which style themselves as a privacy tool while spying on their users.
Please show me a single proof of someone privacy being exposed for using any of this products.

I would love to see that neutral position sometimes in your posts. Maybe it's just me, but I have always felt that it disappeared after the infamous Ledger leaks.
For things you say I have clear proof and my own user experience using that crap and leaking my personal information.
You have to show nothing but speculation Tongue

I still love you though but you confirmed my doubts. I don't see how someone like you who is generally criticizing all moves that affect user privacy, anonymity, and centralized control doesn't see anything bad in Trezor partnering up with Wasabi and their spy agencies.
I will repeat again if you don't unedrstand english language and I can repeat that in your native language in our local forum:
Show me a single proof that wasabi coinjoin blacklisted any transaction or spied anyone, and I will join your little hate club.

I still love you though but you confirmed my doubts. I don't see how someone like you who is generally criticizing all moves that affect user privacy, anonymity, and centralized control doesn't see anything bad in Trezor partnering up with Wasabi and their spy agencies.
Maybe because we don't know how this partnership will actually work.

PS
This is my honest review of new wasabi wallet:

3876  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Passport (FE) hardware wallet review and walkthrough on: September 09, 2022, 11:44:02 AM
So they seem to delete your data from online servers after either 30 or 60 days, but they keep it offline indefinitely? It would be good to get some clarification on this. It would also be good for them to update their privacy policy to reflect all this, so it is in official writing rather than just a Twitter post.
Yeah I think they need to update their website with this information to clarify everything, and I think I saw one of their team members saying they are working on that.
I prefer buying my stuff offline without leaving any personal information whenever possible, but it's impossible to do this with Passport if you live outside United States.
I don't even know if they have any official shop that sells them locally, but going to Bitcoin conferences you can probably find and buy one of this devices.
3877  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Did CheapMixer made hundreds of mllion of dollars? on: September 09, 2022, 11:21:58 AM
Not donating don't be fool. They made money from hundrends  of millions of dollars laundered money from black activities such as sellngs guns, drugs, terrorism etc.
This why the can be the highest payng campangns.
What a bunch of bullshit nonsense crap  Roll Eyes
If you want to accuse someone for selling guns and weapons and stealing money with taxation extortion you should first look at your own government and army industrial complex.
People who are making guns and printing money are ones who are selling them, and that is certainly not Chipmixer.
3878  Economy / Exchanges / Re: XDEX decentralized exchange (Unofficial) on: September 08, 2022, 07:58:30 PM
I am not seeing any laid out terms of service, but their privacy policy has something worth reading. They will obviously collect data and share it with law enforcement when needed. I think if Governments pile pressure on them in future they may pull out of the game or begin asking for KYC like Localbitcoins did
Hmmm, that doesn't look so good if they going to ask for all this information from people Tongue
I expected to see some alternative light version for Bisq exchange that could work on mobile devices, but maybe kyc would be applied only for trading with fiat currencies.
One reason why I would consider using anything on Liquid network is use of Confidential Transactions., and XDEX should work like Atomic Swaps so I don't understand why they are being so strict.
3879  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor Suite will add a CoinJoin mixing protocol on: September 08, 2022, 07:45:29 PM
You guys should seriously think about joining some anti-coinjoin club  Cheesy
So much hate towards wasabi-coinjoin and I still didn't saw a single case of coinjoin transaction being blacklisted so far!
Please let's be realistic and don't burn a witch that don't even exist...
Regarding partnership with Trezor I can't see how this could be bad for anyone, you are not forced to use this two together, and everything is open source.
I am speaking this from neutral objective position, I don't support wasabi or trezor wallet in any way.

PS
Please show me a single proof of wasabi coinjoin blacklisting case so I can join the club, or chill down a bit with this exaggeration drama.

3880  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: [VELIKA LISTA] Hardverski novčanici (80+) on: September 08, 2022, 07:30:57 PM
