Let’s collect some ideas of what shops could be interested in Bitcoin and collectively send mails to them, explaining to them why they should accept Bitcoin. I think that the target group would need to be "geeks" or "nerds", as this community primarily consists of them. Also, shops that have an interested in anonymity will certainly consider accepting Bitcoins. Thinkgeek was suggested in IRC and I think it’s a good idea, but maybe too big at this moment though. More suggestions? Tangibles:Internet Services:Other:

Everyone? On what basis would you exclude anyone from voting?

The evidence was pretty damning but people offer to forget it. Nothing really happens so we don't know if that's a good law, not to mention we need several court cases to determine if it is a good law in the first place.
Do you refer to the case of the Russian scammer? Yeah, I think he should pay at least back everything (30 BTC left), as he’s either guilty or deeply involved with the guy who is. But I don’t know how you would want to determine guiltiness. By votes maybe? I approve of the rephrased rule 1 by the way.

Uhm, why the hell would I pay a fine if I’m innocent, just because someone is accusing me? If I’m found to be guilty, I should pay back everything plus a fine though.

I like it, thanks.

I am with imanikin on dark pools.
Me too. I don’t like this at all.

25% seems a bit much, but I like this idea. Did you already start this? I want to know how it goes.

I have tried several QR decoders that are free on the internet and none seem to be able to read the images or cropped images. Has anyone been able to decode these QR images?
+1, QR decoder libraries Works for me with Barcode Scanner on Android. Still, I don’t know how to get the public key out of the private one.

So will you deliver the details today/tomorrow? I would invest at least 100 BTC btw, depending on the details.
Hold on, if at any point you only have those 100 keypairs, how is money retained from key 3 to key 304 if each is signed by a given keypair?
The key pool is not a limit, it’s just that 100 addresses already exist. You generate them in the client, but technically they are already there, so the first 100 will always stay the same no matter which backup you’re using.

I’m not comparing Bitcoin to it and this will be the last time I’ll try to clarify this point: Investions in BTC follow this scheme. Bitcoin itself has value. Also, you forget to mention that everyone could lose everything (if he keeps BTC). Early adopters will lose less than those coming late as they will have invested less.
Also, we just derailed the thread.

Darker is better to my eyes. I agree.

So how should I use this without the according public key? I like this idea though. You could use that as a physical backup if combined with the public key.

Its not an english court its a bitcoin court .
We still have very few precedents and no arbitration market yet. It will take a while for bitcoin laws to develop. There can’t be any official bitcoin laws because there won’t be any state enforcing them. There is no central legislature, judicature or executive. Bitcoin is anarchistic and only the morals of its users will create some sort of justice.

No difference to gold at all. I didn’t claim there was. But the mechanism of investments in Bitcoin is that of a Ponzi scheme, that’s all I’m saying. And I don’t think that’s a bad thing.
BTC get more valuable if more people join the "investion scheme". If you place your bets on this (and a lot of people do), I see no difference to a Ponzi scheme. Also, this is not only limited to Mining.
I did not call Bitcoin one. Bitcoin itself is not a Ponzi scheme because it also has its own value which increases over time. It’s up to you to determine that value.
Well, actually, Bitcoin investment is a Ponzi scheme, and that also includes mining, working for BTC or gifts/donations. You as an early adopter profit because you have a share of 21 Million that you got much cheaper than people after you. When this Ponzi scheme fades away, BTC will be an established currency.

Alright, using it from now on.
