3901  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: bitHopper: Python Pool Hopper Proxy on: August 10, 2011, 12:29:24 AM
Im running startLP and OldDefaultScheduler and I'm not seeing any deepbit shares in the last 2 hours. Anyone using OldDefaultScheduler and have Deepbit working? How often does deepbit kick in?

you should try joining us on http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#bithopper to get answers for all your questions
3902  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: bitHopper: Python Pool Hopper Proxy on: August 09, 2011, 10:25:44 PM
bitHopper has only switched to deepbit once in the past 4 hours and never switched to it again. Using latest version.

try disabling bitcoinmonkey and rfcpool, it worked for me

edit: I run it with c00w's DefaultScheduler
Code:
bitHopper.py --startLP --debug

dunno if I maybe right or not, but threshold and penalty aren't the exact same thing only inverse proportional values ?

@boss cat give us some versions pls (python, twisted-python and pyopenssl)
python 2.7.2
python-twisted 2.4.0-3
pyopenssl 0.6-2.3

@simonk83 you seem to have a lagging connection with mt.red , happened to me few times, try the other pool if they still have it active or give a try reseting your router

Hmm.  Is that this bit:

Code:
2011-08-10 06:51:39+1000 [HTTP11ClientProtocol,client] 'caught, Final response/w
riting'
2011-08-10 06:51:39+1000 [HTTP11ClientProtocol,client] 'Request.finish called on
a request after its connection was lost; use Request.notifyFinish to keep track
 of this.'

Is there any way to catch that (in the code)?  Like if it sees it's spamming a massive amount of getworks with no sends, it moves away?

seems so  Roll Eyes

@boss cat try to use a packet manager (apt-get, aptitude) if on debian architecture, compiling from source could be troublesome sometimes

@simonk83 try to launch with "--debug" , mine is working nice with last ver,

@jkminkov thanks, btcguild updated

Yeah, I'd like that fix to be bumped up in priority a bit as well.  The change is already made in altsched, so hopefully it's just a case of pinching a bit of code (easy for me to say Cheesy).

What about having slush (or the mine_slush role even) just not accrue any slice figure at all?  That seems to be what deepbit is doing, and that doesn't switch away.   Is that an easier quick fix?

could be, just posted your request on btcguild on github
3910  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: bitHopper: Python Pool Hopper Proxy on: August 09, 2011, 08:26:05 PM
Quick heads up, I think the BTCPool24 url is wrong in the stats page.  Takes you to their JSON stats (and takes forever to load).  The main site seems much quicker.

fixed, thanks  Cheesy

@joulesbeef you have dbit working there ? seems like it jumped before reaching 40%

@boss cat you could be having troubles with openssl, try reinstalling the package
3912  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: bitHopper: Python Pool Hopper Proxy on: August 09, 2011, 07:43:52 PM
hey guys, could you do c00w a favor and report active (mine) and info pools you have atm and if you have deepbit hop working ?

edit: here have...

... dbit working
3913  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: bitHopper: Python Pool Hopper Proxy on: August 09, 2011, 07:27:13 PM
This seems to work Tongue

09.08 20:19:29 0h 03m   144 270595   0.02580979
09.08 20:15:55 0h 01m   64 125063   0.02481949
09.08 20:14:11 0h 07m   288 608030   0.02297255

I now put Deepbit on Penalty 2.5 with Threshold 60, so it stops mining at 25% and see what it does for the same roundlengths...

here too  Wink

lots of questions today... bH philosophy: trust me and I will repay you
3914  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: bitHopper: Python Pool Hopper Proxy on: August 09, 2011, 07:22:02 PM
that seems more than high to me.. we are only sending small strings of text back and forth.. even blocks are normally in the kb range.

chek to see if you got a virus.. make sure wifi is secure

I am going to monitor the miner and hopper and see what I come up with.. but there is no way it is that much i wouldnt think.
I'm on linux, there is not possible a virus
I think the miner really sends only small strings (I have had it running last month without bithopper and the end of my limit/month was 3 days before the month) but I think the constantly monitoring of the pool stats makes much traffic (my speculation)
As first step I have now connected my 2. PC to this (the main) PC's bithopper.
- but if there is some problems or rebooting necessary the connection to this PC is over because it has a new ip!
The second PC has no Monitor and I have always to plug the cables from one to another  Angry
Therefore I am looking for a working solution.
I have tried with vnc, but there is the ip problem after rebooting and it is very slow.
Has anybody eperience with nomachine nx server?
http://www.nomachine.com/download.php
I have tried it, but was not able to establish a connection with ssl and have not found much help on the net...
I'm very glad to hear from you how much traffic you have and how it is possible to decrease it  Smiley
TIA

so you could have generated a bit more traffic remote controlling the bH machine with VNC type software ?

you can use no-ip services and their dns auto-updating client for linux to solve the dynamic ip issue
try using "screen" over ssh shell to remote control linux without headaches
3915  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: bitHopper: Python Pool Hopper Proxy on: August 09, 2011, 06:50:59 PM

Deepbit is evil!  Smiley Help the small guys to grow and take something away from those top 3 pools!
Do I really have to say: "Fuck globalisation, fuck central an all controlling [ADD YOUR PICK]  and blaa blaa blaa? Do I?
 Kiss

OK, I put penalty 2.00

hopping deepbit will chicken out their miners Cheesy

if they don't take measures...

Ref: original Raulo paper on pool hopping - link

edit: detailed analysis of pooled mining reward system

edit2:
just happened to see this table in Meni's paper, it just reinforces my thoughts on amplification factor (m = number of pools)
Code:
Table B.1: Amplication factor of pool-hopping, as a function of the number of proportional
pools.
m|with fallback|without fallback
1 1.28149 |1
2 1.5159 |1.38629
3 1.71404 |1.64792
4 1.88393 |1.84839
5 2.03152 |2.0118
6 2.16131 |2.15011
7 2.27669 |2.27023
8 2.38028 |2.3765
9 2.4741 |2.47188
10 2.55975 |2.55843
15 2.90159 |2.90148
20 3.15341 |3.1534
25 3.353 |3.353

@macboy80 favouring slush when available is on issue list in git and it's already implemented in AltScheduler
ppl in here would surely give you answers about the new role you propose
3918  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: bitHopper: Python Pool Hopper Proxy on: August 09, 2011, 06:04:40 PM
I do think we need to put the threshold to 100%
I do think organofcorti was right on that.

but a little over 100% and your shares become cheaper than pps.

I don't want such a big step at once, so I try at 60% for 3 days and see what it does Smiley
One advantage is that it (almost) never needs a backup pool at that setting.

So, you mean you set penalty to .6 for deepbit?

for the sake of hopping science please try standard hops for a day or your results could be ignored in the future

Standard? What's that?  Grin Bitcoin / PC's / bitHopper is a hobby, not my dayjob...

standard, it was a form of referring to simple methods hopping (default scheduler or alt scheduler, --startLP) in this case with bH, without changing principles in the middle of testing (like hopping to a higher threshold)

edit: thanks, tomorrow I will be testing different levels too  Wink

Well, it just hopped off deepbit and back over to mtred

well it's supposed to do that, at what threshold (diff. level)
