3022  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tor Idea. on: February 12, 2012, 06:50:33 PM
She can make a payment too all of them with only one transaction

That instantly proves that Alice is the same person on every OR she just paid.  That's not good.  It saves on fees, though.  Smiley

It's better than the "redeemable codes" idea in one way: if the redeemable codes are issued (and redeemed) with a central server, that's a very vulnerable point.  With your method, the list is public in the blockchain, but at least she's only compromised on exit nodes that cooperate with Mallory, instead of every node calling in to redeem a code.  That's worth a little thought.

yes, you're right but given that bitcoin would be implemented on such a low level no one will be able to tell who are the other nodes she paid for bandwidth. Remember that OR can't associate identities with a virtual circuit. Bitcon addresses are just a public key hash that can be appended in the initial payload along with the other hash that ORs already send.
Separate transactions could be made by Alice to prevent anyone know the number of nodes she passed through at any given time. The OR owner would have to "clean" their coins before spending them too just in case anyone was careless enough to pay from an identifiable address.

All this process can be easily automated only by configuring tor daemon to talk with the bitcoin daemon or wallet, restricted on the localhost. Interesting indeed.
3023  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tor Idea. on: February 12, 2012, 02:40:56 PM
I like the idea so after seeing you guys having the brainstorming session open i wanted to give my 2 satoshis.

Implementing bitcoin micro-payments and the tor network anonymity is not a trivial task but not impossible either. So i went to research some info on the tor protocol and ended reading on the design paper. After examining the "4.2 Circuits and streams" section it came to me that OR (onion router) would be able to implement this without hassle if some core developers pick up on the idea.

Quote
A user’s OP constructs circuits incrementally, negotiating a
symmetric key with each OR on the circuit, one hop at a time.
To begin creating a new circuit, the OP (call her Alice) sends
a create cell to the first node in her chosen path (call him
Bob). (She chooses a new circID CAB not currently used on
the connection from her to Bob.) The create cell’s payload
contains the first half of the Diffie-Hellman handshake (g x ),
encrypted to the onion key of the OR (call him Bob). Bob
responds with a created cell containing g y along with a hash
of the negotiated key K = g xy .

So what if Bob includes a new bitcoin address in that response. The maximum cell size is 512 bytes so it shouldn't have any problem doing that in his first response to Alice. OR could talk to bitcoind on the local rpc interface and fetch a new address every time it has to build a new circuit, not reusing any of them, they are interested doing that to maintain anonymity too.
At this pace Alice could have the circuit open through 3-4 or any number of OR's including exit node with a unique payment address for every one of them. She can make a payment too all of them with only one transaction and start using the increased bandwidth with the first bitcoin network confirm of it. OR's could have their rates published in the public directory like for ex. 1 mBTC/10minutes or 1µBTC/1000 tor cells and Alice be able to establish circuits according to her needs.

This can be polished even further though, what do you think ?

3025  Economy / Lending / Re: Help me so I can help you on: February 12, 2012, 01:13:34 AM
@PatrickHarnett i don't seek any credit... only the satisfaction to see with my eyes that one day a professor, engineer or scientist questions for a moment all the things hes been taught as true and start reasoning for himself.

Rossi's machine could be a fraud but we can't know that. We had a thread on it if i remember correctly.

Perpetual motion exists and it will exist after we are long gone. We have it all around us, when we walk, talk or everything else we do. Building machines to do that it's a trivial task that has been bothered in the past century with flawed theories and corrupt people.

I'm into other things right now so i cannot make an awesome post with examples and stuff but you can start reading on quaternions and potential energy if you like.
3026  Economy / Lending / Re: Help me so I can help you on: February 12, 2012, 12:28:02 AM
Fuck me, I want in. This is better than the scam for a perpetual motion machine.

............

LOL, oddly enough, there may be something to that. Caltech has been working on a alloy that when heat is applied, the alloy creates an electric charge and as result, can spin a motor. This was displayed a few weeks back at a fundraiser for CHULA.

Is this the same one that's fuel is nickel and the by-product is copper? I saw a demo for it and it's seems highly interesting.
People don't realize the potential in other humans, many can do great things but lack the resources to do so.
As an engineer and a scientist I can tell you that no matter how much human potential we tap we will never create a machine that is 500% energy efficient, period.

maybe you should study a bit more Mr. Burt  Wink
3027  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: I need 37 bitcoins on: February 11, 2012, 03:37:11 PM
Do you have a OTC account ? Any previous ref of successful trades can help too. You could get ~33 btc at current rates, or less, if you pay with paypal on such a short timeframe.
3028  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Help me create a p2p pool. on: February 11, 2012, 03:03:26 PM
It could be possible to split the current p2pool pool into multiple sub-pools, all of which work on their respective share chains.

When searching for a block-chain to use, if the share difficulty is too high, the p2pool client attempts to find an another p2pool sub-pool to use which has a lower share difficulty.

+1, you could set-up max and min share diff in settings and p2pool would search a share-chain that meets the condition

3037  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scenario for the destruction of bitcoin on: February 11, 2012, 01:39:05 AM
What is the purpose of the block chain?

Why are confirmations important?

I'm not sure what you're getting at here..

The block chain proves the transactions within it are valid given the assumption that over 50% of nodes in the network are honest nodes. Confirmations are important because an attacker with less cpu power than the honest nodes may discover a winning hash through random chance. With each confirmation, the chance that an attacker with less cpu power could do so becomes less and less exponentially.

Working here,

Make sure if you are behind a proxy that the settings allow HTTPS traffic as some web proxy/content filters block HTTPS traffic because traffic can't be monitored.

working now, thanks
3039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: artforz and coblee gpu mining litecoin since the start? on: February 11, 2012, 01:11:57 AM
In Litecoins, hashes mine themselves, and distribute to worthy miners automatically with gift of free electricity and unicorn-shatted skittles delivered by fairy Godmothers.

In ShortBusCoins, coins themselves are shit, as is Glorious Leader Dear DoucheBag/RS/CH King of All Delusion and FUD, Hysterical Chicken Little Bitch Princess of the Realm.

Who cares? RS/CH/Douchebag coming up with the scandal-of-the-moment announcement is a lot like a fish pissing in the ocean, it doesn't amount to much, and nobody really notices.

epic, like always  Cheesy
