The worker stats works great for normal hash rate miners. But I have a pair of Compac stick miners pointing at ck's solo pool and they only show as "idle" with a hash rate of 0. Sure the stick miners only produce about 16 GHs each, which is admittedly pathetic. But that's as fast as they go. In fact, they're overclocked I expect that lots of us (including everyone in the Compac Solo Club) are pointing low hash rate miners at the solo pool. It would be nice if that was supported in your app.

I've been playing with your app. Very nice so far.
Does the direct address feature support worker names appended to the BTC address in the usual form (i.e. address.workername)?
I accidentally created a blank direct address, but was able to delete it (based on your instructions in the first post). Maybe you could consider some basic validation when entering a new address?
Thanks for your efforts!

The price is recovering pretty significantly from the recent downturn.
I think my cat was relying on a lower price helping keep the difficulty flat. Perhaps there won't be any fishy treats in it for him this time...
Why in the world did you repost my exact words from 5 days ago? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1326210.msg13622452Not that I object if someone else lets their cat guess the difficulty

+4.3 = alh @edonkey: You have your cat tasked incorrectly. He/She needs to be doing Powerball numbers, not BTC difficulty changes! Thanks, but we tried that. The best we ever got was one of our cats guessed a couple of correct lottery numbers. Kind of like a moderately high "bestshare" value. Doesn't really count, but makes for a good story

Phil, did you not copy and paste my entry? Here's what it should be: -0.2 = edonkey Thanks as always for hosting this contest.

Our oldest cat thinks we're going to be mostly flat, with a slight downturn:
-0.2 = edonkey
This is the one who guessed right once before, so don't write him off. Fishy treats are a powerful incentive.

From what I heard, Mike had a few hundred bitcoin. I've never heard that he was a miner. His impact on the price is not that direct.
The price downturn was due to his comments and exit.
And maybe sprinkle in a bit of bad (but not unexpected) news about Crypsy. As an aside, I completely cleared out of Crypsy months ago and never looked back.
Really I think that Mike leaving will have a good effect. It is very likely that we'll get some protocol change, even if it's only the move to 2 MB blocks as per Bitcoin classic.
People can argue all day long about how Bitcoin should be changed to support growth. But something has to happen, and it has to happen relatively quickly.
My hope is that Mike's dramatic exit will force something to happen in the near term so that Bitcoin can continue to be relevant and maintain its potential for greatness.

Well it looks like I received my Batch 1 compensation about 1 hour ago from Bitmain. Thank you
Wooohooo! I got mine toooooo! Same here...Bitmain came through on their promise. Wow, good on bitmain. Looks like they've improved since the S4 PSU fiasco. I got mine too. They made good on their promise, even if the amount of the compensation is underwhelming. I bet they had to write new code to deliver the compensation. That's probably partly why it took so long. Hard to prioritize coding resources for the goal of losing money. Of course the justification would be improved PR with the community. The lesson for Bitmain is to make good on their published deadlines rather than dealing with costly compensation efforts. If they had just shipped batch 1 before the holiday, none of this would have happened.

The best that happens is btc settles at 350. that should halt a lot of growth.
yes if they were growing with .5 watt or more gear but they arent.. Its growin with .25 and .1 watt gear.. so they can drive the price right on down to the mid 100$ if they like Ohh and we can thank china for this aswell On January 15, 2016, Mike Hearn officially resigned as a full time Bitcoin core developer. Even if a new team replaces Bitcoin Core, Hearn emphasizes that the concentrated and centralized mining power in China would still be a critical issue. http://www.newsbtc.com/2016/01/15/mike-hearn-resigns-and-leaves-bitcoin-permanently/ive been thinking this for a while now.. “It has failed because the community has failed,” said Hearn. “What was meant to be a new, decentralised form of money that lacked “systemically important institutions” and “too big to fail” has become something even worse: a system completely controlled by just a handful of people.” Here is his official statement https://medium.com/@octskyward/the-resolution-of-the-bitcoin-experiment-dabb30201f7#.cxygsg9egYes, the recent price drop is almost certainly due to Mike's announcement. I read it yesterday. It's very sobering, and very pessimistic. It's not enough to make me panic and sell out. But it is clear that the Bitcoin protocol needs to change in order for the currency to grow, but there are a number of very difficult factors that are preventing the right things from happening. Ironic that probably the biggest threat to Bitcoin is its own community and an inability to change...

Getting a low hash rate warning from the monitor. My miners have failed over to a backup.
The web site is up, but maybe mining is down?

multibit. anyone can recommend me a safer wallet ? maybe something with mail confirmation to approve an transaction ?
Trezor, love it and sleep at night knowing my keys never leave the device. Very easy to use with Chome plugin. Even if you have a infested computer or use a library computer, bad guy can't get your keys unless they got a gun to your head and you give it to them. +1! Get a Trezor (and a second one as a backup). If you do go this route, there are some important tips (like using a separate account for mining). PM me and I can send you the related links. Sorry for perpetuating the off topic discussion ck. Back on topic now...

vortexz, did you also use the same password on f2pool? There was a warning on their site a few days indicating that if you used the same password on f2pool as other sites, you might be at risk.
It wasn't clear if this meant that f2pool's account passwords were hacked, or if it was just a general warning.
But in any case, you really should not use the same password on multiple sites, especially when money is involved. Sorry that this advice comes too late...

I'm seeing low hash rate warnings starting at 11 AM PST (15 minutes ago).
I don't see mention of a planned shut down. Is there a server problem or another DDOS attack?

The cats refused to guess this time. Couldn't get either of them to talk to me about the difficulty. So this guess is all me.

Didn't see this till just now. If you're still interested, I've got 13 pods that I would part with. I also have 3 12 volt PSUs to drive them, plus all the power and USB cables.
I've only ever Scrypt mined with these, never SHA256. I removed some of the fans so that I could configure them to fit in a rack. I'd provide all the removed fans, as well as a bunch of brass standoffs.
I've also got some controller that came with the pods. I never used the controller and don't know if it works. I used a RPi to drive these.
I'm in the US.
PM me if you're still looking to buy.

Did anyone receive the "late shipping compensation" yet?
No. Nothing has happened since they emailed on December 28th asking for a receive address for the compensation.

Looks like my new 4.6 won't come today. This means Monday. Postman told me ups/fedex were still trying to catch up with Xmas. They dump many packages on usps now for delivery.
I talked to my local post man.. He told me that ups has a contract now with usps.. they dump all the packages on usps now .. Saves them a ton on fuel. to all the rural areas. But dont worry you wont see any of those savings on postal costs. Edit clgrissom.. Here is the link for antpool.. https://blog.bitmain.com/cn/uncategorized/antpool-pps-fee-rate-at-2-5-30-lower-than-major-pools.html i like to give my sources as much as possible:) Best Regards d57heinz Haha! I know the Antpool well...spent a lot of time there. I'm trying not to support pools that have no regard for Bitcoin. I know I'm just a dust speck to them but I'm going to do my part when I can. I Agree with you 100%.. but there is no reason to give them 1.5% if they are supporting antpool.. Ill keep an eye on them.. With the speed they have should hit a block in a couple months or so. maybe ill message them and see what address they are mining to.. If they are usually only 80 ths.. they will only hit a block every 10 months or so at current diff.. Makes me wonder how they can fund this pool if it goes to a 600% block.. You do the math.. I would watch out for them all im saying.. if they can prove payments arent coming from antpool then id support them as a backup pool.. Congrats on the block find.. we all appreciate that:) I'm also skeptical. If you message them and they respond, I'd be interested in the answer. It would be great to have a trustworthy and reliable PPS alternative as a backup pool.

just curious, what back up pools do you use guys? im new in mining and had all pointed to kano; lesson learnt but not sure which would be the best option thanks
I figure that if your miners are going on a short holiday that you might as well get a guaranteed payment while they are AWOL. Otherwise they have a costly holiday and don't earn much unless there is a block found while they are on another pool during the failover For that reason I use PPS failovers. Yes - I will wash my mouth out with soap after this. F2Pool (PPS) Antpool (PPS) I must admit, those are my backup pool also but PPLNS. I switched over to Kano from Antpool after I read this thread. You're not the only ones. I hate to admit it but I also use F2Pool as a backup. I agree that PPS for a backup pool makes the most sense. In addition to the argument that other payment schemes mean that a backup pool has to find a block during a failure in order for the hash to be useful, some pools (like slush) penalize pool hopping anyway. I've considered solo mining as a backup, but that's basically a low odds gamble. As much as I don't like what these larger pools do, I really don't like when my miners are idle due to a primary pool problem. If there were other PPS options I'd consider them as a backup.
