401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What "facts" you heard about Bitcoin is not true? on: April 29, 2016, 08:27:58 AM
Recently I saw a comment on another forum that Bitcoin will make people rich overnight which is not true at all. There is no free lunch in life and even with Bitcoin one has to work towards securing their profit be it digital money or fiat. I don't understand why some people still think Bitcoin is some kind of get rich quick scheme.
402  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to tell your Girlfirend about BitcoiN?? on: April 29, 2016, 08:22:01 AM
Well I have tried to get my girlfriend interested into Bitcoin numerous times but unfortunately she doesn't care about new technology very much. She likes most what other women are passionate about as well like clothes and shoes and jewellery  Grin I have given her paper wallets loaded with Bitcoin for her birthdays though so she has a piece of Bitcoin even if she is not using it.  Wink
403  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First transaction ever in Steam (video) on: April 29, 2016, 07:12:09 AM
I have a question guys , anyone know what steam are doing with those funds ? I suppose they are exchanging them instantly to cash ? If it's the case then what's the point exactly (of accepting bitcoin on first place)?

Valve uses BitPay to offer Bitcoin as a payment option to their customers on Steam. They receive money in their bank accounts right after each sale because the price of Bitcoin right now is too volatile and presents a risk to Valve should they decide to keep the coins. BitPay is converting everything behind the scenes for a fee of course. Now I think Valve wanted to extend their Steam shop to untapped markets where credit and debit card purchases aren't very popular.
404  Other / Archival / Re: should i save btc for future? on: April 29, 2016, 07:02:26 AM
Guys I recommend saving as much Bitcoin as possible and don't spend anything from your stash until the end of the year because I think around that time we will have a better idea of what the price is going to be in 2017 and onward. Also if you can use fiat to purchase stuff use that instead and save your Bitcoins as a long-term store of value as the potential of greater yield is real and we must take advantage of it. Good luck everyone.
405  Economy / Economics / Re: WILL BITCOIN BE USED BY ALMOST EVERYONE IN 2022? on: April 29, 2016, 06:55:48 AM
With the current rate of Bitcoin adoption and new Bitcoin start-up companies trying to offer services to more people and cover a greater part of the global population I think it's possible to guesstimate about 10-20% worldwide usage in 2022. Bitcoin is getting mainstream at a steady pace so we will get there sooner or later but the year may not be 2022.
406  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin continuous rising? on: April 29, 2016, 06:49:25 AM
I expect to see the Bitcoin price start to increase more in May as we are getting closer to the halving and the bigger pump wave should be commencing soon. I think we saw a little bump to $465 because of the news about Valve adding Bitcoin to Steam. I suppose the big climb in the price hasn't started yet.
407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Japan Officially Recognizes Bitcoin and Digital Currencies as Money on: April 29, 2016, 06:37:34 AM
I don't think there is a correlation between the Bitcoin price dropping right now and the news of countries deciding to regulate Bitcoin. The price dropped significantly after Mike Hearn's 'revelations' but this was genuinely bad press underlining the problems Bitcoin had at that moment. I don't see the regulation plans as bad press or negative news.
408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin be divided beyond satoshis? on: April 29, 2016, 06:29:52 AM
Can bitcoin be divided further than 0.00000001?

I suppose it's possible but there is no point of doing that unless Bitcoin price increase .. a lot of course.

Yup the future price of Bitcoin will be the main reason for a readjustment of the Bitcoin subunit structure. If the price is astronomically high in a couple of decades and the miner fees amount to hundreds if not thousands of dollars I guess the code will need to be changed. I also suppose all Bitcoin faucets and other ways of getting some free satoshis right now will be shut down because it would be like giving out free $10 dollar bills to random people every couple of minutes Grin
409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Adoption Could Save India $7 Billion on: April 29, 2016, 06:22:08 AM
So if Bitcoin is currently banned in India how will ZebPay operate legally in the country? I think their idea of offering Bitcoin services to the Indian people is commendable but if the Indian government doesn't recognize ZebPay as a legitimate Bitcoin exchange I fear they won't be allowed to do any business with Bitcoin at all. There are a lot of people without bank accounts in India and if this service launches Bitcoin will get a lot of new customers easily.
410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: World's First Nationally Licensed Bitcoin Exchange 'Bitstamp' on: April 29, 2016, 06:09:45 AM
So I don't understand if the Luxembourg license can be passported to other EU countries or not. I have read a lot of articles that said it will be passported to all 28 member countries of the European Union so which is true and which is false? Why would Bitstamp need to lie about serious matters like this one? Do you have a solid proof of what you are saying or you are just giving your opinion in here?
411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russian Law Would Send Bitcoin Users to Jail as Cybercriminals on: April 28, 2016, 06:32:03 PM
Russians are not the smartest ones, we all knew that, but this just proves that they are afraid of losing the control over people's wealth now more than ever.
Criminals my arse ; the only reason they are fighting (and everyone else that is doing the same) is because they want people to stick to their worthless printed notes.

Please don't compare the Russian government to the Russian people. Actually I know Russian programmers and scientists who are some of the smartest people around and are on par if not better than sicentists from other leading countries. Plus Russians in general are tech-savvy despite living in a corrupt country with limited resources but they can make up for that with intelligence. I can't say that for some Western countries though.
412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The British government is considering paying out research grants with bitcoin on: April 28, 2016, 05:49:41 PM
The British government is interested in the Blockchain technology but it seems they are open to ideas for alt coin Blockchains as well and are not stopping with just the Bitcoin Blockchain. They want to monitor where the tax payers' money is going so a Blockchain will serve as a giant surveillance system that will record every dispensed research grant and make it available to audit for all the parties involved. No one will try to embezzle research grants if everyhone is watching who has the money and what they are doing with it.
413  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitClub's fake offer to return fee blunder on: April 28, 2016, 05:27:54 PM
I might be way too cynical,  but I would totally believe this isn't what it appears to be.   It could be a publicity stunt as some have mentioned or it could be something more sinister.

I am more inclined to think these are probably stolen coins that someone tried to run through a mixer that crapped up and spewed out the wrong amount. I am not sure what the benefit would have been and who would have profited from a publicity stunt like that. As for the sinister part, well the worst thing that could be is stolen money so if Bitclub network is really going to donate the coins to charity the balance in the universe will be restored. Karma is a *****  Wink
414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russian Law Would Send Bitcoin Users to Jail as Cybercriminals on: April 28, 2016, 05:20:28 PM
Wow Russia is one of the most corrupt countries regarding government officials and politicians yet the finance ministry is banning Bitcoin because they want to make the financial system of Russia more transparent and healthy what a hypocrisy  Grin Whatever ruling they pass I don't think this will stop the population from using Bitcoin. Russians are hardcore when it comes to bypassing government laws so I guess there will be probably underground meetings where people will still exchange coins something like a rogue Russian Localbitcoins.
415  Other / Archival / Re: Do you use bitcoin as currency or investment? on: April 28, 2016, 10:48:12 AM
I am using it as both currency and investment but I am keeping approximately 80% of my Bitcoin stash as investment and 20% for online purchases. I am trying to use fiat for my daily expenses and I am keeping my Bitcoin long-term as a store of value because the price could be huge in a couple of years.
416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The difference between btc and real money! on: April 28, 2016, 09:49:01 AM
Bitcoin has more advantages than fiat when it comes to speed of transactions, lower fees, more added security which depends on the user etc. However fiat is much more common and used worldwide as people use Bitcoin usually for online purchases  while fiat is dominating the daily life expenses. So I think it will be different for every person how useful fiat or Bitcoin are.
417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitClub's fake offer to return fee blunder on: April 27, 2016, 06:29:44 PM
Is it really possible that those funds came from a mixer? But how did the mixer input 219 Bitcoins as the fee and 0.001 as the actual amount being transacted? Was it a bug in the script or a human error? Also how do people know this TX is from a mixer were they able to follow the trace back to the original address?
418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Decentralized AirBnB and Uber -- somebody's really working on it! on: April 27, 2016, 06:15:19 PM
Airbnb is great if you want to find cheaper accommodation and are not afraid to share a room with the hosts or get a whole apartment entirely to yourself but the price will be cheaper than a traditional hotel. I am not American either but I am planning on using Airbnb to book a couple of rooms for my travels around Scandinavia this August. If I can use Bitcoin to do so it would be even better!
419  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Tooth Fairy on: April 27, 2016, 05:09:40 PM
Kudos to the Park Dental Group for accepting Bitcoin payments. And their ad totally rocks it's very amusing and to the point with the tooth fairy leaving Bitcoin under the pillow for the kids  Grin If I were in the USA I would visit their offices just because of Bitcoin.
420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Banks Hates Bitcoin? on: April 27, 2016, 02:11:45 PM
Banks hate Bitcoin because they will get less and less customers when people start to use Bitcoin more and this will hurt the business and profits of the big banks. I don't think the banks will lose half of their customers but still any account holder is precious for them because they receive a lot of fees.
