The sooner we can hash the better since i expect diff going up to around 525 M

lol you wonder why have you not seen the message from knc in china ??

Your right madsusie no miner is going to make roi unless a person is not paying for his electra bills then that person can make profit, unless the value of btc becomes at a massive value to make up the difficulty.
Which i believe will not happen anytime soon.
However since i do have to pay 0.32 Kw/h on electra and pay massive taxes over anything i buy in my country.
Its not longer possible to make mining worth the effort. Colocating gives other problems in general makes things worse. The problem with hosting is the hands when it goes wrong, and you need a person which has knowledge on these machines.
Second the prices which the asic companies ask for their $8 value chips is insane. Do not come with bs about they cost more because they don't, their cheap and since the foundries have a new market they probably dropped even lower in price.
Asics are made in massive numbers each day since they are used in many products todo their respected tasks. They are simple chips compared to cpu/gpu and not programmable like fpga so after this task you can not use asics at any other task which they are made for. They are instant useless so selling you expenssive bitcoin miner becomes a pain when its no longer able to make some coins for you.

Sounds like a fun experiment seeing the miner drop from 290 to 180 Gh is not funny and costs me even more considering its allready loosing money
I have no clue if its correct but if i would calc what i should get this would be : 4400 * 1000000 * 25 * 60 * 60 * 24 / 4294967296 / 8843 The resulting value = 250,234359073434 coins But i actually was getting 0,00 coins a day
Well i used both programs provided cgminer and reaper and at first i was getting some coins However the last week that i mined nothing was being accepted as valid So if you people can get coins and i don't that does not mean my setup is wrong but others get the coins instead of me

I stopped mining after 2 days not find a block with 2 x 7970 burning around 520 watts at .32 Kw/h Just is too much for a coin with 0 value for me.

When I first got my Saturn I removed the heatsinks, cleaned off whatever thermal grease that was there ( it was very thin stuff ) and put my own Artic Silver high density stuff on. Since then no matter if the temps are cool or hot I've always hashed on average 280-285. Top off, top on, fans on or on...always the same. Maybe the thermal grease or whatever they used was just inferior low quality stuff? After the grease dries up a little it should thicken up...when I received my miner the grease coming out on the sides was still almost wet. Maybe if you can't get your miner to hash up no matter what you do, try to clean off that crappy thermal grease that's there and re-do it yourself. AND REMEMBER, all you need is just a little eraser sized grease and not to over tighten. And I'll still not break even probably.
Did they do worse before you changed the thermal paste? I doubt that it's much of a problem, it seems like most people are getting 280 saturn /560 jupiter without doing that. Some people are having issues, but that's probably not related to heat. I never trusted the grease that was on there to begin with, so I only powered up for about 20 minutes to make sure everything worked then changed the grease over to what I wanted. It could have been the same, but my Dad who has a Saturn also has great running speeds also and I changed his thermal grease as well. It can't hurt I guess. The stuff that I saw there just didn't look right. Very bright silver stuff that was almost wet. That's what made me change it to begin with. I think there is nothing wrong with the thermal paste used on the knc asics, but yes they have used plenty which actually is not really needed but its pretty the same quality as arctic silver This asics actually do like it warm, this does not mean you should remove the cooling. But when i put in 2 tornado fans which gave a drop from 62 c to 28 c on the asic cores it made them slow down. The hash speed ended up being on avg 210 GH at that moment. Before anyone asks NO the psu is not a weak one its a 1200 watt Antec so for this simple saturn even a bit overpowered with its 6 x 30 amp rails. Now when i removed the tornado fans the hash went back up to 265 Gh on avg.

I love the change to pci-e plugs alot gonna make it easy for me with the antec 1200 which has 6 connectors Need more btc to hook up more boards on this lazy psu. That old gpu feeder not gonna warm up even after connecting the bought boards

ppcoin has already 41.6 Th mining at it tried to get a block with 190 Gh .... not got any so all coins are swarmed by deperate miners trying to make some money

Just for information 7970 at 900 mhz core and memory at 300 mhz does give 2.2 Gh on blakecoin
Intensity 7, worksize 64
This card soon gets replaced by a R9 290X

which fpga are you using kramble ?
I see many people complain at reaper but its pretty damn stable, the only way it crashes is if you expect too much of your gpu's
On my system it has run many days without once crashing till i pushed the card a bit higher and poof there it went.
We all want the fastest speed but we sometimes forget that might be not what the card can cope with.
I found lots of issues to get cgminer/bfgminer to make a initial kernel file, as soon it has been made it simply allows anything.
Found this several times with scrypt coins i was mining at, as long as it does not create that #.bin file you will see it crash
I reported that a long time ago but both developers did not react on this issue.
We might even try to make a few *.bin files and provide these for those having issues to make it easier
When using the cgminer which is posted make a batch file containing :
@echo off cgminer -c blake256.conf
and start that for mining on my 79xx cards going beyond intensity 13 is not working for me

I fullfilled my duties and payed ofcourse. Argh i send it to the old btc address lets hope barntech does not get confused

LoL i do think true miners is another definition in my view, a true miner keeps mining even if he looses thousands of dollars on this. Yes indeed self reflection
Anyway i like the design showed however the double scroll is showed as the boards sit on opposite sides As you showed them you simply placed 2 miniplanes right !?
Again i like the design, i might try to buiild a similar box, because for me it does not matter much if the cards are free but you must think of all kinda situations happening especially playing kids and cleaning housewifes and most of all people who look with their hands like my neighbourds and guests

Well in summer with 46 c any miner is unhappy, the heat is making my space where the miners are go up to 55 c last summer. In winter its ofcourse pretty nice having miners heating the building However last couple of years it has not been very cold as we had in the paste, current winters are hardly having any temps lower then -10. temps we had in the paste where -20 to 26 and sometimes even colder Ofcourse not as cold as our norway, sweden and finland neighbours. But cold enough for miners to be cool enough to run fine in winter. Summer has made me turn off mining devices often enough.

Its a great way to get some coins to expand towards mining boards In time you have to switch them to alternate coins so they are not getting useless But at certain time they simply will no longer give profit, in 2014 i expect some real big investors to enter the mining scene and thats gonna make it hard to keep up, even with miners from this generation I expect faster and more important less power needing device will enter the arena pretty quick

Phoenix just wait a couple of minutes to settle again. At first i was seeing ultra low speeds as well but after like 15 minutes it was showing steady about the same numbers on average hash rate, however i would like to know what the impact is from higher WU on the pool. On the pool its still not settled and jumps from 240 to 340 Gh so i think that needs to settle in time as well
Not sure why some are seeing lesser results mine jumped up On average still getting 260 Gh with FW 0.97 However the WU jumped from 3800 to 4054 Check the temps , used an old fan to blow under the boards and temp dropped 18 C on that hot asic
I certainly would like to participate into getting heatsinks and silent fans with the boards if that costs me a little extra so be it. In coming weeks i am trying to add some extra cash so i can get extra boards The fans which are used by knc to cool the miners are extremely silent and produce a big cfm as i have noticed The knc case is a nice wind tunnel
