401  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Fortune Jack a Scam or are they Legit? on: July 12, 2018, 01:13:17 PM
Fortune Jack has a signature campaign in here started for a long time. And right now, it is still living. In fact, I think it's embedded in the forum itself. I think it is not a scam. It is a legitimate site.
I am in favor of these bounty campaigns that being run over this forum. But as this fortune thing is related to gambling, this is still be advised to everyone out here to not to go for this. Better is to get something else and join many other bounty campaigns. You can get into signature campaign for bitcoin or any other altcoin but be at arms distant to this gambling thing.

It's true, I am a participant in this signature campaign, and as far as I'm aware it is one of the longest running signature campaigns on the forum. Besides this, FJ also purchases forum advertising here on Bitcointalk, if it was a scam, I really don't think Theymos would allow this. I've personally used that site dozens of times, and have never had an issue either with bet outcomes or withdrawals, and I'm not just saying that because I'm part of their advertising campaign.
402  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash can co-exist on: July 12, 2018, 01:10:06 PM
Yes, they can co-exist, but the real question is.... Why should they? When one of them completely meets the needs of the market, what is the point of having a competing currency that only acts to decrease use volume? I think in terms of cryptocurrency, sometimes competition is a bad thing, at least in the early stages as we are now because we need a single cryptocurrency to generate enough of a user base to bring it up to recognition for corporations. This is much more difficult when these users are split between BTC and BCH, even though absolutely nobody uses BCH for anything commercial.
403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why so many bounty campaign close before there week ends? on: July 12, 2018, 01:07:11 PM
A lot of bounty programs have a clause in their terms and conditions stating that they can end the bounty whenever they like, or if the hard cap is reached. This means that for the more successful projects, they will tend to end earlier, whilst the less successful projects will typically stop their bounty early due to non performance.
404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Regulation: Can One Size Truly Fit All? on: July 11, 2018, 07:01:57 PM
The simplest answer is no, but the more realistic answer is yes, confirm or be banned. The fact is, when it comes to regulations, most governments are not big on individualised laws with multiple clauses and if/but statements. They prefer general, blanket, choking clauses that completely stifle innovation in an attempt to make sure the law is a catch-all and future proofed against innovations. It is very unlikely we will see a one size fits all policy that promotes the innovation of blockchain.
405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Hack Proof or Not? on: July 10, 2018, 09:48:17 PM
Right now, the proof-of-work hashing algorithm is essentially hack proof, as it features 256 bits of encryption, which is well beyond the level that can be reasonably cracked even by the most powerful supercomputers. However, it's only matter of time until SHA-256 is cracked by brute force, possibly earlier if a genuine quantum computer goes online, but doesn't seem like this will happen any time soon as Google's D-wave isn't a real quantum processor.
406  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does this sound realistic? on: July 10, 2018, 09:40:58 PM
This isn't the worst theory imo, the biggest misconception is gambling isn't and will never be a source of entertainment. I did understand your theory and it might make sense but the problem with most people is they spend a lot on this so called entertainment. A movie ticket might cost maximum of 30$ but for many gamblers they want to turn 30$ to 3000$ which is why they get addicted easily

I can't completely disagree to what you said. However, a lot of people take gambling as a form of entertainment. Entertainment is subjective in nature. Hiring a hooker is also an entertainment to many. People spend money on that to get something in return that relaxes themselves. Similarly gambling relaxes a lot of people and they do it to get something in return. Probably you prefer to spend on movies to relax yourself. Some other people prefers gambling. Addiction here is completely self inflicted.

I think few people gamble for the enjoyment of gambling in and of itself, there is a different between enjoying gambling (regardless of outcome), and enjoying gambling because you stand the chance to win a lot of money. Most people fall into the latter category, which is unfortunately the category most likely to devolve into problem gambling.
407  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lottery or Sweepstake? on: July 10, 2018, 06:53:51 PM
Honestly, I'd actually prefer a lottery that gives out both cash and other prizes, such as vacations, cars and luxury goods. I think very few websites actually engage their players by giving them something real to strive towards, and I think it would be a good change in the scene.
408  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does this sound realistic? on: July 10, 2018, 06:51:41 PM
Very, very few people gamble simply for the fun of it. Do you think it's fun playing slot machines on your own at 2AM in a dingy casino? Do you think the people you see doing so are having fun? The answer is no, they're addicted, addicted to the chance of winning big, or reliving the memories of a time they actually did win big. People do not know whether this can happen to them, it depends on circumstance, but you certainly cannot say that it happens to everybody who doesn't play for fun.
409  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Signature Campaign on: July 10, 2018, 06:46:21 PM
I wouldn't recommend participating in a signature campaign at your user rank, you will get peanuts compared to the sr and hero members that typically get 3-4x more stakes than a jr member. Typically all the high level members flock to the better campaigns too, leaving only the weaker campaigns for the jr members. Try the translation bounty instead, you will face much less competition and earn much higher rewards.
410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN NO ONE SELLS BUT HODL? on: July 09, 2018, 09:30:57 PM
Honestly, if this scenario actually happened, and somehow nobody knew that it was an attempt at artificially increasing the value of BTC, then exactly that would probably happen.... It's value would increase. Assuming that trade volume and demand stay the same, that means each BTC unit will increase at a rate equivalent to the reduction in circulating supply. Of course, this is theoretical as such a thing simply could not be coordinated.
411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Converting 1 BTC to 100 BTC on: July 09, 2018, 09:24:35 PM
The odds of you successfully converting 1 BTC to 100 BTC by leveraged trading is astronomically low, so I really wouldn't recommend it. You should just try your hand at investing your money into growing, and starting projects. If you invest your money in a few high potential ICOs, at least one of them will probably do a x100+ and you'll at least have much more than you started with.
412  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Preferred crypto betting site ? on: July 09, 2018, 09:20:18 PM
FortuneJack all the way. Of all the sites I've played it easily has the best customer support, and I've never had any issues with withdrawals. I know a lot of sites make you wait quite while if your withdrawal is relatively large, this is not the case as far as I'm aware with Fortunejack.
413  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Pacquiao vs Matthysse July 15 2018 on: July 09, 2018, 09:15:40 PM
If Lucas Matthysse is not able to knockout Manny and fight will be via decision, more likely fight will go to Manny Pacquiao. Lucas Matthysse needs to score a lot in this fight and no back pedaling or running around, Manny Pacquiao will really hunt him down around the ring. Manny Pacquiao is out to prove that he still have a few fights left in him before he retires.

If he wins, he probably won't retire, that's the problem with older boxers, they don't give up. So odds are even if Pacman wins, he will still have another fight or two until he is inevitably bested, and probably KO'd by the better, younger man. Hopefully he has the sense to see this is the road all Boxers take, and manages to avoid the mistake though. I personally doubt it though, he looks like a guy that won't back down due to age.
414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 500$ investment on altcoin on: July 09, 2018, 06:35:27 PM
Ontology and IOST are great buys right now, ONT is down around 10-15% and it has always shown great strength, so will probably bounce back up. Whereas IOST has the potential for 5x returns within a few months, you just need to keep an eye on the trade volume and numbers and you'll do well.
415  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is best practice for gambling?? on: July 09, 2018, 06:28:31 PM
A lot of gamblers spend their time mindlessly playing, without actually trying to understand how they can improve, or what they can do to minimise their losses in future. These types of gamblers do not tend to learn from their mistakes, and may devolve to becoming problem gamblers due to their inability to think proactively. So that's really all there is to it, don't be one of these guys, as you can improve your win rate by simply practicing effectively for most games.
416  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Pacquiao vs Matthysse July 15 2018 on: July 09, 2018, 12:21:54 AM
Just a week left before the Pacman picks up his gloves again and starts wrecking.

What will you guys be betting for this fight? I'll go for Pacquiao to win by unanimous decision, but might also put a small amount on SD.
417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 226: Miocic vs Cormier Info and Prediction Thread on: July 09, 2018, 12:14:39 AM
Not sure why Cormier called out Brock, surely he understands the massive disadvantage he'll have? Brock is massive as fuck.

He got a good win over Miocic, but it wasn't entirely unexpected, yes, he's getting older, but UFC isn't as much of a young man's game as some other contact sports, e.g. Boxing. Brock Lesnar will probably wreck Cormier simply due to the 50lbs weigh advantage. Cormier is a beast true, but punching against the weight is never a good idea.
418  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is now the turnaround point? on: July 08, 2018, 11:42:51 PM
I think the recent pump was simply due to there being less FUD associated with Bitcoin than usual. There were no major happenings surrounding bitcoin at the time, which for a scarce currency like Bitcoin is actually good news. No news, is good news for crypto. I don't expect the pump will last much longer though as we barely broke the $6.7k resistance point. I doubt there is a full turnaround or a long term bull flag, odds are we will however around this level for a while until volume increases.
419  Economy / Speculation / Re: Market is slowly degrading on: July 08, 2018, 11:39:08 PM
I have to agree, since December last year there has been a slow, gradual decline. Sure it has been interrupted by a few green seasons, but the trend is still massively red. Hopefully we can actually generate some strong resistance around the $7,000 level as I'm sick of losing money

Yes I did buy in at $18,000  Cry

420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Future blockchain on: July 08, 2018, 11:35:47 PM
Very interesting post OP I definitely also feel that decentralized applications are going to be big!, I'm glad to see people are starting to recognize the potential of decentralized applications. The image should really have NEO spread all over it though, as the NEO virtual machine is capable of running dAPPs for pretty much every purpose illustrated there, as well as a few others too.

Imagine decentralized video game platforms, one can only hope.
