401  Other / Meta / Re: Images in signatures. on: January 17, 2014, 12:38:06 PM
I don't think we're at too big of a risk seeing that image everywhere... considering that guy hasn't been online since March 2012.

Yeah, but not if people keep necro-ing his posts Grin. There's a few other sig images dotted around.

Out of interest, what was the reason for removing them?

The same reason we're thinking about getting rid of signature advertising... it was super fucking annoying.

Would it be possible to add a ignore sig function like the ignore Button? While I find the sig advertising annoying, I don't want to totally ignore sigs. Some of my favorite YouTube channels are from sigs here. Being able only to ignore sigs of specific users would be great.
402  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Introcudtion to DualMiner USB (could mine both BTC and LTC) on: January 17, 2014, 11:35:48 AM
OK, didn't know that.

But that wouldn't still mean that if you use it for BTC mining you would have a part that lies dormant. Making it inefficient for BTC Mining?

OMG.

Already 5 Pages and people jumping on it like crazy!  Roll Eyes

Did any of you actually take the time to read up what an ASIC actually is?

It's an Application Specific Integrated Circuit. It means that it can only do one Application.

Yes it would be possible to have circuits for multible applications on one chip, like Sha and Scrypt. But this way you would sacrifice a lot of performance compared to if you had just build it for a single application.
No serious developer would develop such a chip, it would be utterly stupid.

It would also be possible to have 2 Separate ASICS on one device. But having this would also decrease the performance/cost ratio compared to having two specialized devices.

But well, its your money.

*Could also be that everyone in here is just sarcastic and I'm not getting it?  Wink
405  Other / Meta / Re: Time to Reorientate this Forum towards Cryptocurrencies in general. on: January 17, 2014, 12:29:34 AM
Dogecoin has already overtaken Bitcoin in total transactions

Well then, in that case it will soon have it's own forum with more traffic than Bitcointalk as well, wont it?  Roll Eyes

Unsure if this belongs in altcoins, or maybe (with both eyes closed) in Meta. But definetly not here.

Someone who is as long here as you should know this.

Anytime you need to check whether a pic is original, Google Images is your friend.

Way better: http://tineye.com/
407  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin, altcoins and startups on: January 16, 2014, 11:54:29 AM
There have been many fiat currencies that have collapsed, yet other fiat currencies survive. Why wouldn't other cryptocurrencies survive bitcoin's fall?

If something happens, maybe due to Gouverments outlawing Bitcoin, that would have the same Effect on Alts as well.

If Bitcoin breaks due to a technical issue, all alts are done for, too. Because they all base on Bitcoins code. Simple as that.
408  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Welcome Armory users! on: January 16, 2014, 08:44:23 AM
I wouldn't use Armory because it constantly CRASH! Fuck this shit, find another service.

OMG, your are constantly complaynin about a free software where you paid nothing for and which developers work in their free time. Just don't use it and shut up.

If you want a better software, how about you pay the developers something?

410  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are the burgers in McDonald getting smaller globally? on: January 15, 2014, 10:55:51 PM

I don't have McDonalds in my town but when I went to Osijek a couple months ago I saw them being so small that I thought hell, I'll need to eat 10 of these Cheesy
I think they were bigger some time ago  Undecided

I know, I remembered Big Mac used to be a challenge to see if you can finis one of them. Now you need to eat 3. They need to change it's name to Baby Mac.  Smiley

such a high price for such a small meal..

High Price? Mac (basically all FastFood) is so cheap that I wonder what they put in there.
411  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Frustration durch die bekannte Geldmenge bei Bitcoin? on: January 15, 2014, 08:24:38 PM
...

Also eher 0 Porsche obwohl es Millionen davon gibt.

OK, mein Fehler. Hatte es jetzt so verstanden, dass das Projekt beendet wird. Sorry.
413  Other / Meta / Re: Can an adult mod please move thread? on: January 15, 2014, 04:17:59 PM
Are there non adult mods here?

And if so, what do you have against them moving your threads?
414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why can't all hash power contributed to mining a coin be one huge pool? And on: January 15, 2014, 02:52:16 PM
Incentivising Hashers to use P2Pool is imo the most important thing Bitcoin should be doing right now.

Glad to see, that more and more people seem to get it.

Now I only would like to see some groth at P2Pool. Or more development of small pool that mine against P2Pool to make it easier.

Interestet, but don't want to setup a Node look here: http://p2pool-nodes.info/
415  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin. Any help would be appreciated on: January 15, 2014, 02:33:15 PM
My budget allows me to buy 2xUSB-fury 5GHS and ASIC AVALON 70GHS. Will it be profitable to buy this stuff and will it help to reach my goal?

Probably not. Better start out small and only buy 1USB for the start and gather some experience if it's worth it.

Just make an investement and buy some BTC's for 2000 USD?

Probably better, but remember: There are no grantees in Bitcoin. Only invest what you can afford to loose. (Your post sounded like you can't afford to loose 2000 $.)
416  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin redistribution on: January 15, 2014, 02:01:08 PM
With my economic knowledge being limited, can someone explain what are the main disadvantages of such a distribution we've got in Bitcoin?

It's that many are envy of people getting rich and automatically thinks it's unfair. Even if they never had made and will make the same decisions /take the same risks as the people which accomplish it.
417  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin redistribution on: January 15, 2014, 01:54:02 PM
Obama:  All Americans deserve opportunities.  That is the kind of country I believe in, and that is the kind of country that you elected me to lead.
(applause... fade to black...)

If that happens, I'm curious on how they identify the American Bitcoins, to redistribute them between Americans. Or are you saying they will attempt to steal the money of everyone worldwide to distribute it between Americans?
418  Other / Off-topic / Re: Nudists are into Bitcoin !!! [NSFW] on: January 15, 2014, 01:27:41 PM
I can see a new fetish being developed now: Bitcoin porn.

Girls posing for Bitcoin tips... Much sexy, much wow!

Well...http://www.reddit.com/r/GirlsGoneBitcoin/over18?dest=http://www.reddit.com/r/girlsgonebitcoin
419  Other / Off-topic / Re: Nudists are into Bitcoin !!! on: January 15, 2014, 12:48:15 PM
If you hade postet a picture of a fat 50 year old guy. That's how the average nudist looks like.

Also, if you are actually posting nude pictures, mar the thread title with NSFW (Not Save for Work)!
420  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Opinion about coins on: January 15, 2014, 12:32:30 PM
I heard that the transfert speed of bitcoin is very slow so we can't use it in real life to buy coffe, is it true ?

No, thats not true. The transacion speed of all Coins is the same. In the order of seconds.

What many are talking about are confirmations. But confirmations are a measurement of security. Simple speaking, when you have 1 confirmation in Bitcoin it means the mining power of 10 minutes says your transaction is confirmed. If you have a coin with 1 minute Blocktime 1 confirmations means the mining power of 1 minute says your transaction is confirmed

That means if you wait for 6 confirmations in a Bitcoin transaction, you should actually wait for 60 confirmations in the other coin and that only if the same amount of Hash Power would back it.

The only (very small advantage) is the 1. confirmation where it would already have the security of 1/10 of a Bitcoin confirmation.

But faster confirms also have disadvantages like more orphants which increase the cost of securing this network.

That's easy to misunderstand if you are new to crypto and altcoiners usually have no interest in clarifying this (most of the time they do not understand them self or do not want to).
