Hi, my name is Steve. I learned about bitcoins a few days ago when I read someone's signature on a different forum. it said he was working for BTC. "what's BTC?" I asked myself, "and why don't I know about it if someone's using an initial to refer to it? what could this place be? think of something it may have done for that industry."
Hi Steve. Nice intro. I'm Dave. Can you tell me what was the other forum?

Way to go. I'll try it.
I'd like to know if we can schedule a poker game, or is there one already set? I'd like lower stakes, too.. especially for my first time testing out your site. I'd like to know what the pay out percentages are if there are X number of seats filled. Also, do you take a rake?

I don't think anyone sells things with more precision than a Bitcent so far, anyway, so w/e. Meh, I don't think that's the point. I should be able to "close" an account at any given time, and get what's mine. (fully funded balance, not "estimated" ones)

Team thekoolio has won !
I allready transferred the money to his bitcoin address, but it is completely up to him to stay or not.
Did I say before, that . . . . you totally rock! ??

is there another program that I can add to use my CPUs process power? Yikes! CPU mining has become obsolete. Oh, and bitcoinplus is a rip off. There is a .01 btc fee, and only multiples of .01 can be used.. any amount after the 2 decimal places aren't considered.

AND NOW... a word form Proffersor Hans.. I'm sure you meant form lol.

Meaning that, when running Ufasoft CPU Miner, it uses all of the remaining CPU's processing power. Is it possible to limit that amount, to, for example, 75%, so that the mining never takes up more that 75% of the usage. And the same for the GPU. CPU mining is obsolete. But if you have a multi-core system, you can dedicate your CPU miner to have an "affinity" specific cores. In my case, I have 4 cores, so I could allow any program to stick to cores 0,1, and 2, and leave 3 alone. etc. How? (I do it in Windows 7) Bring up your task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and click on the processes tab. Then find your software name on the list. (must be running) Then right-click it and select "Affinity" and then check only the cores you wish this software to use. You're done. Close Task Manager.

That's a pretty good write up. You forgot to mention the heat and the noise of a mining rig (for small time miners (under 1 gh))

When making your backups of bitcoin, the wallet.dat file is located in the user file, (actual users name), AppData, Roaming, Bitcoin folder.
Yeah. Imagine upgrading your client and it erasing your wallet? That doesn't happen, but kinda scary thought. Get your encrypted wallet data file in the cloud, (I love how that's so mainstream now. To the cloud!) Or at least OFF your computer in some form or fashion. Also, have TWO "wallets," one for every day use, and one for savings. I do it. And I use boot-from-usb key to do it. And also saved encrypted wallet off the usb key. I put a copy on my web server, on my 8MB SanDisk SD card, lol, and I printed it out in hex. (geek)

I don't have any yet but i intend to buy half a dozen or so just in case they go crazy and are worth several thousand or millon each in future years. i'll just sit on them. if they crash i dont really care as its a speculative game.
also, with only 21 million of them available, not everybody in the world will be able to have one. Hell not eveyone in Australia will be able to have one! they will be very very scarce.
Yes, the future if bitcoin is speculative. I only wish I had sent a ten-dollar bill to that one guy who wanted to sell me 9.9 BTC back in March. I thought it was risky sending cash through the mail. I forgot about bitcoins until early June, when I read about them again online. Now I'm a little miner at 500mhps and I have purchased 8 coins at $16, and have mined 2 coins so far in 10 days. Back on topic, I think the market will determine the value. I hope that all exchanges will have "dark pools" as to not drive the market when moving thousands of coins on it.

Wow. I just read this thread (because of your siggy).
Nice discussion. Wow, you sure "talk" a lot with your friend there. How fast do you type that your friend doesn't have time to respond to each "send" ? lol

Which pool is more profitable to mine at and why? 1) a pool with more people and thus higher cumulative hash power OR 2) a pool with less people and thus less cumulative hash power?
To answer your question: 2. But that's not the full answer. When you're first starting out, find a pool that's just started, and see if they have any perks for mining with them because they are so new. I tried TripleMining 2 days ago because I was looking for just a pool like that. And guess what, I got the itty bitty jackpot of ½ BTC on the 2nd day. (Yesterday) But, I am staying because i love the front end, and the owner MrSam, is making changes daily to our benefit. I also tried Bloodys' pool. It's way too low (~2.5 GH/s) and thus harder to crack a block, but after only mining there 3 days, I have ~3 BTC in my "estimated" area. That is, once they solve their first block. So it's up to you. Shop around.

The same thing happened to me when I first started with them early this month. I traded emails with Donny, too. And he was like "yeah, I guess it does seem scammy" and "I'll have to put it on there" but never did. He has 0.0100413 of MY bitcoins. But I say Karma's a bitch. So I let him keep it. (Started on June 9th, and generated 143 baby payouts)

** Poll: Who is really doing so? **
Be honest. How many of us really use two wallets? One for daily buying and selling. One for saving.
I am. I tried out with small amounts first, and making sure my boot-from-ubuntu-usbkey worked multiple times before sending my "savings" to it.

Again, I think that not only is this method not working to reduce "trolls", but it has the effect of turning away enthusiastic new supporters of bitcoin. All of the bitcoin community suffers from this, and I don't think this has been very well thought out by the administrators of this forum.
Hey there lettucebee, I love your username! I say 'lettuce' all the time instead of 'let us' Also, I agree 100%.

dum dum dum, another block bites the dust... another block down, another block down... another block bites the dust!
That's awesome. Remember when we were at 40GH?

i dont mind staying at the pool i just want my initial reward as promised
I'd feel the same way! You go some mighty hashing going on. Help us find the 1st block!
