Funny though...

If I didn't own a TV or have access to the web, 9/11 would never have even existed in my conscious experience.

This is a big reason why I don't let things like 9/11 or wars affect me emotionally.
4002  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] New alternate cryptocurrency - Geist Geld on: September 11, 2011, 10:41:13 PM
Would someone please care to share with me what the hell I'm supposed to do? Smiley

So, I downloaded the windows bundle.  Opened the "read me immediately" file and changed name and password in the bitcoin.conf file.

Right now, my geistgeld daemon is going bananas.  I assume it's downloading the block chain?  Been giving me thousands of lines of text for several minutes now, so I assumed that's what it was doing.

So, how exactly do I start mining with GUIminer?  What should I put in the 'host' text box, and for 'port' ?  I also don't exactly get where my coins would show up.

Sorry for my ignorance, but I've only been running GUIminer with Bitcoin  (and a little bit of SolidCoin) since June and never tried the other miners.

I've shown the video http://www.septemberclues.info to at least a dozen people, in person. Friends of mine and people I know. Every single one of them agreed they were fooled completely by the lies and the media and the government. They ALL concluded the film was very intriguing and accurate as far as they could tell.

Most people who have watched it will agree. But there is always some jackass agent or operative on board to try to discredit the movie.

Watch it for yourself and see.

Did watch it.  Faulty analysis, inconclusive, and I told you why.

We were shown Previously produced CGI video on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001

There were no hijackers, and the eye witnesses to planes were paid actors and SIMS that never existed.

That's the unbelievable truth.

Yep, sure it is.  Cause the video said so, right?

You are one of the most ignorant people in the whole world. Go back to sleep. You have never been awoken and likely never will be.

Haha alright bro.

I told you why that video proves nothing.  If you care to rebut, feel free.

It's freaking hilarious to hear the same arguments over and over from different people on different boards all the time.

If you ask me the WTC wasn't even blown up on the same day as the TV broadcast. But I have no way to prove it and no incentive to even attempt it which is also my point in this discussion.

You people are like arguing soccer fanatics who aren't even fit enough to run for 20minutes.

That's why arguing plausibility/implausibility is much easier than arguing definitively one way or the other.
The thing is I heard every theory you people are discussing now and those you don't 10 years ago on #wtc during the broadcast.

Yep.  Sad isn't it?
4007  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Radeon HD 6950 - weird thing with mhash/s on: September 11, 2011, 09:54:26 PM
This happened to me recently too.  I was getting 390 m/hash consistently with 930 clock and -v -w128 -f60 (wanted to keep it cool at around 63 C.)  Then, about 3 days ago, I noticed it's only getting around 330 m/hash.  Not sure what's up.

Edit shoulda mentioned it was a 6970
4008  Other / Off-topic / Re: I hate that famous Gandhi quote on: September 11, 2011, 09:51:40 PM
Theymos, I think your analysis is an oversimplification.

The quote is grounded in context, and religious context especially plays a large role here.  Keep in mind that the interdependence of all people/events is emphasized far more in the east than in the west.  Karma is also emphasized (karma does not simply mean 'what goes around comes around' but is more directly related to cause-and-effect).  According to this belief, when a person get's angry, they lose because anger is suffering (how can a person be angry/vengeful if they are happy?)  In fact, ANY desire (the desire to attack, the desire to retaliate, etc.) is considered suffering because desire implies a lack of content in the present moment;  if you want something other than what 'is,' are you not dissatisfied?

In line with interdependence, if you do not retaliate against your attacker, you are adding positivity to the cumulative system....so, the attacker = negative contribution and the lack of retaliation = positive contribution.  If you retaliate, then you have attacker = negative contribution and retaliation = negative contribution.  According to this view, retaliation hurts not only your attacker, but you as well.  If  you don't retaliate, you win cumulatively since your individual identity is determined by a larger systemic identity (in Hinduism, this is the relationship between the atman and Brahman where the Atman is the individual manifestation of the universal Brahman).

Then, there's the reincarnation argument which is entirely plausible.  If negative causes have negative effects, and if positive causes have positive effects, then it is possible that your 'positive' decision not to retaliate against an attacker (even if it means your own death now) may be better for you in the long-run.

These are just a few things to think about.  Keep in mind, what I stated is an oversimplification of the quote-in-context as well, and I barely even scratched the surface of the implications of the quote as applied to the context for which it was likely intended.

Inconclusive.  Demonstrates nothing.  Most of everything in there is based upon faulty assumptions or flawed analysis.

You cannot say one single thing that retorts anything in the video. As a typical operative, you will avoid all issues demonstrated in the video. You will never ever bring to the table, the contrasting opinion. You will leave it out completely, by saying things like just said. You are clearly delusional or intentionally misleading. You said absolutely nothing in your post to rebut anything stated in the video. You showed no evidence you even watched it at all.

So far, you fail.

Ok, here's an easy one.
The "multiple axis" argument is bullshit as clearly the cameras are on different axis and at different heights.
How about the one where it's like, "what happened to the backdrop?!"  and "the plane is coming in parallel to the ground here, and it's divebombing here?"  Yeah, no shit, cause one camera is clearly positioned above the tower (you can see the top of the roof) and the other is clearly positioned beneath the top of the tower.  In one case, you will see the sky cause camera is pointed up, in the other case, you will see the ground cause camera is pointed down.  This can also create the impression that in one case the plane is 'divebombing' and in the other it is not.

Here's another one.  The nose of the plane going through and coming out the other side of the tower?  A skyscraper is like a huge column of air.  If you displace the air in that column quickly, it has to go somewhere.  So, if plane flying 550 mph flies into the tower, compressed air will burst out the opposing side.  By the way, this is why in other conspiracy videos when they argue that you can see "explosions" at the bottom of the WTC immediately preceding its collapse, the explosions are not really explosions at all.  When the tower begins to collapse, all that compressed air gets pushed down and so all the windows get blown out at the bottom before it has even fallen.  It's extremely plausible that the 'nose' you see coming out of the building is debris of a similar shape.

The audio analysis is equally bullshit.  Do you have any idea how different the same sound can seem when it's recorded with different mics in different locations with different wind/environmental noises?  Overwhelmingly loud sounds can also spike the limiter on your mic such that it clips and you won't hear anything at all.  It's quite possible you could be recording with a particular type of mic and not hear any explosion.   Also, if you have a drum kit, that 'reverse cymbal loop' sounds nothing like a cymbal at all.  By the way,  I own a drum kit, a recording program with a professional drum sampler, and various mics.

Just a few.

Kudos on your idea.

Good luck...

Determining what constitutes content of "worth" or "value" is entirely subjective.

I have an entire thread dedicated to banning the use of the word "troll" and in my opinion it is a thread that contains some of the most valuable content on this forum.

You may say it is worthless.  To that I would say, you're worthless.  And round and round we go.
4014  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin blackholes as a solution to unfettered inflation? on: September 08, 2011, 10:18:50 PM
I think Bitcoin is exactly where it should be and needs to be.

Everything that has happened so far can be expected.

Scams, hacks, shady personalities, wildly fluctuating values...this is all normal behavior.  In fact, if Bitcoin were any less unstable I would begin to think something is wrong.

The Bitcoin phenomenon is systemic, and it is new and small.  Small systems are prone to enormous shifts in balance when there is a lot of input/output from and into larger systems outside Bitcoin-land.  It will take a long time for Bitcoin to find its niche among larger systems and to achieve balance between input and output.

Everything that is happening to Bitcoin is good and natural.  Relax; let it run its appropriate course.
4015  Other / Meta / Re: A huge blemish on the forum. on: September 08, 2011, 09:27:16 PM
You didn't seem to have a problem with the first 14 pages/5 months of the topic, when it was talking about exactly the same thing (the Bitcoin show / Bruce)? It's ridiculous and Stalinist to hide a topic because the subject has become embarrassing. If anything the topic belongs in Bitcoin Discussion more now than it did before, because we are discussing the relationship between Bruce and the wider Bitcoin community rather than just plugging the show.

Also there are lots of threads already about Bruce in off-topic. It's clear that the market demands a thread in the main forum about him.

Agreed.

The threads on this forum cumulatively reflect the mindset of the community.  If you don't like the reflection, then it is telling you something about the community.

This whole Bitcoin thing is experimental.  It serves as a pseudo-realistic example of the free market in action.  The whole Bruce thing needs to be out there.  In 10 years, we can look back at all of these threads and see just how much greed (or lack thereof) there was, how community members treated each other, what peoples' intentions and motives were, etc.  Censorship should only be demonstrated in extreme cases where someone's life or reputation is demonstrated to be negatively affected without just cause.  In my opinion, there is more than enough just cause to speculate about Bruce's character.

How large is your circuit breaker? If you are living with 4 others, I'm pretty sure your room mates would hate popping the circuit each time they turn something on.

125 amps max.

your home, or business lease agreement?

are you in an apartment complex, or a smaller residential house?

who will notice if your electricity costs rocket up by $200-$500 in the course of a month's time?

how old are you?
how long do you plan on staying in the area?
what is your current employment?

i may be interested in this...

I am renting out a room in the basement of a house.  There are 4 others living in the house besides me.  One nice thing about being in the basement is that it is consistently 10 degrees colder down here, and in the winter, it's downright chilly 24/7.  You might actually be able to help keep me warm on those cold, winter nights Smiley

The landlord would notice.  He owns several other properties.  My lease agreement is good until June so I'm not sure that he could do much about it.  If this concerns you, we could try a month-to-month thing to see what happens.

I turn 26 next month.  I'm a graduate student at the Jane Addams college of Social Work at UIC and I work in an adult inpatient psychiatric unit at a hospital in Elgin.  I plan on staying here at least until June.  I will complete my MSW this school year after which I may decide to relocate depending on job opportunities.

Lol...

First of all, I'd like to give you credit on retaining a sense of childish imagination.  I really do like that.

Second, I've seen many of the David Icke/Credo Mutwa things.  None of it proves anything.

But it is entertaining lol.

Hi,  I posted a similar thread about this a little while back.

Notice that current BTC price is a little low to mine for some?  Did you buy some nice equipment but aren't making the returns you would like?

Here's the deal.  I get free electricity as part of my lease agreement.  How would you like to get those returns back faster by setting up your rig at my place?

Obviously, I can't screw you over in this deal.  You will know my name, you will know where I live.

I'm located near Chicago.  Post a reply stating your interest.  To secure the deal, I will need a look at your electric bill for 1-month while mining.  I am asking for pay equal to 1/2 your electric bill while mining.  So, if your mining electric bill was $200/mo, then I will save you $100/mo by charging you $100/mo.

Interested?
