What's next? Do we deal with the hard fork in November or is that pretty much unlikely at this point? Sorry if this seems like a silly question, I am still very new to cryptocurrency.

The 2 MB hard fork in SegWit2X is contingent on a majority of miners running the btc1 client. Right now there are only about a hundred btc1 nodes.

.... Non mining?  Mining?
4064  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Barry Silbert segwit2x agreement with >80% miner support. on: July 21, 2017, 12:56:24 AM
Once the activation of BIP91 followed by BIP141 is over and segwit is active and the world didn't end as all the BU doomsayers predicted, I'll be able to unignore a substantial number of posters... until their next FUD campaign.

Maybe we can all have a party with Mr. Ver, Mr. Wright and Mr. Wu, and their various buddies?  Have a few drinks and talk about the weather.

Yaeeaaahooo!
4065  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it too early to say little thx to Jeff, Sergio and all the little helpers? on: July 20, 2017, 09:56:55 PM
It might be a bit early to start sucking each others dicks so to speak, however, yes we all owe a great thanks to everyones hard work no matter how large or small the contribution.

Oh thx. You hold it up here...

What...

Ah the niveau.
4066  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin needs altcoins because ... on: July 20, 2017, 09:30:58 PM
Bitcoin needs altcoins because bitcoin has become a fiat currency for altcoin traders and bitcoin is a must for traders to convert their money after transactions.

Hahaha, no not at all.

It is rather a denominator or a safe haven. But not fiat by any means.
4067  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Barry Silbert segwit2x agreement with >80% miner support. on: July 20, 2017, 09:21:23 PM
Empty block and everybody watching. Shame on Ant!

Shit and part of 4 block bundle after a 20min gap??
4068  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Barry Silbert segwit2x agreement with >80% miner support. on: July 20, 2017, 09:11:29 PM
Yes very interesting.

So I guess we all can learn now how a HF could work very nicely.

... And show to the outer world that bitcoin can move.
Who said anything about hard fork? That's the next hurdle since BIP91 activates BIP141 which is a soft fork so no users need to adjust their nodes. If 2x goes ahead in 3 months' time and most users remain on core nodes, we have a split where the vast majority of users will be using a client running off a minority hashrate chain.

Sure , I was just a bit further in time and milestones...
I hope we can get there seeing miners showing their strong commitment these days.

91%.

OK OK
Signalisierung ist das eine. Ob sie es denn auch wirklich alle umstellen bis ?29.07.2017? Ist was anderes.

Things in IT have just to work and bugs are there to blame the devs...

Who knows how that feels as well?

So maybe its too early but I want to say thx Jeff for picking up that 'biggest shit task' in bitcoins history and did it quite well for the time beeing!

I also think miners have shown these days that they are able to play to the rules and do not really like chain splits (...) and should further be reminded to proceed so.

Not to forget the helpful core people like GMAX and BlueMatt for pointing to bugs and getting it solved professionally!

Cheers

Lesson seven

Nash Equilibrium
This does always work no matter if you have a hand full of poor players with some Rasp Pis
Or same amount of major industrial players.

If one looks to have a monopoly stage, the entire game implodes.

What about the 2mb fork? Is that going to require another round of voting later on?

Don't worry; If they try to get 2mb blocks, team UASF is still here to give us 0.3mb blocks.   Cool

Sure - take the 0.3millibrain left and do ProofOfShit - fo!

Than use the right bigblock Bitcoin as a proper LN  Smiley

4080  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I don't see why big blocks are a problem, even 10 MB blocks right now aren't. on: July 20, 2017, 10:53:50 AM
Some large companies want to raise the block size by 8 MB to facilitate traffic flow of Blockchain transactions.

They want to generate user flow - good!

This will attract more users

This will attract more companies (running decent nodes since the need to ensure been paid in time)

nice pattern for all users - do not need RASP Pis any more - buy themselves bitcoin !
