4861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unconfirmed Transactions Problem on: October 28, 2016, 07:19:32 PM
Transaction time 1-2 days -> you can use bank tx..

High fees. -> you can use bank tx...

Block size usage to hard limit  ratio = 1 ->. There will be always cheap spam attacks possible ( why not launched by bank supporters?) so bank txs are not spammable.  -> you can use bank tx...

Of course we can use banks for various reasons.  We weigh our options and we choose which to use based on a variety of factors.

Bitcoin provides some things that banks don't provide, correct?

We have expectations regarding bitcoin in the present, as compared with banks and future expectations, too.  So we may take a position in bitcoin and watch its development based on our investment and the direction that we think either is going in respect to the other, no?

Wake up guys and fix it and reinstall some of the most important bitcoin features.

Wake up who?

Who to fix what?  What are they to fix?  What is broken?

What are "the most important features" in bitcoin and had those "most important features" been 'uninstalled?"  Who did it?  Did they do it in the dead of the night or based on consensus?

I m  happy for today and want to thank you a lot since I have some faint idea now about spam...
I very hope SW comes along with BU features and we can be happy for next years!

Current bitcoin holders turning into the new wealthy elite?

Yep. And if half of the Swissies (5Mio) buy some bitcoin instead or in addition to their train ticket by accident, they will stay richest on earth by accident and might say thank you SBB!
4864  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is being invaded by Leftists on: October 28, 2016, 01:21:11 PM
love the numbers. but i also love how those numbers keep adding up without the context.

smart people have done actual counts, so in context
out of 4427 core node:
only 1615 desire segwit (0.13 flag)
the other 2812 break down as
only 1737 that agreed to the consensus round tables segwit then baseblock pledge(0.12 flag)
and 1075 have not decided anything in the last year.

out of 5276 network node:
only 1615 desire segwit (0.13 flag)

saying 1615 adamant about segwit, beats 2812 other nodes in the same camp.. is wrong on so many levels.
saying 1615 adamant about segwit, beats 3661 other nodes in the network.. is wrong on so many levels.

even funnier, even amungst those numbers desiring segwit some are hoping that core sticks to the pledge of eventually raising the base blocksize.
so if it was a segwit debate with no hope of base blocksize growth, its less than 1615 out of 5276 nodes.

but have a nice day with your brushed over numbers that does not explain reality.
much like saying someone is going to vote for hilary clinton because they have bumper sticker has been there since bill clintons era.

You know what smart people are doing? they are coding and inventing things like segwit, condifential transactions, lightning network and so on, instead of posting on forums all day.
The smart people are working on the software.

What kind of 'work' is needed to change or remove a single line of code concerning the max block size?
You cannot earn any merrits with that. Yes SW is cool, but done brutally complex i.o. to skip the HF (politically?).
4865  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 28, 2016, 01:05:42 PM
you guys want bullish news? how about this. no joke.

this company:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss_Federal_Railways

a state owned company with 33k employees and around $8 billion turnover p.a. starts selling bitcoin in all of switzerland.

https://www.sbb.ch/en/station-services/services/further-services/bitcoin.html

here you have - out of the blue - the biggest seller of bitcoin worldwide. a federal railway company. 19th century tech my ass... Cheesy
Blimey!

Any idea who was behind, making this happen?

sweepay.ch

worth noting that there are currently around 800 btc atm worldwide. with this stunt the sbb adds another 1000 vending machines, that spit out btc.

Nice, but also sad that this happens first in rich Switzerland, where CHF is kind of stable and no real need for, except TAX reasons,  but not in cuntries like Zimbabwe, Venezuala, Argentinia,... where there is a real need for.

4872  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unconfirmed Transactions Problem on: October 27, 2016, 07:40:43 PM
To be honest , it is starting to become annoying. each day fees change and it becomes more competitive to get a high priority so you have to pay more fees and yet there are still a huge number of unconfirmed transactions waiting to be confirmed!

Thas just the predicted fee squeeze to kick out low budget usr as spammers and yes we ve been warned about a year ago....
4873  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Blocksize needs to be increased now. on: October 27, 2016, 04:41:21 AM
The node of Bitcoin may become less and less. So it is becoming Sth called centralized

To run a node now you need 100G in disk

The node count will drop anyway when adoption stops or altcoins hype.
4874  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unconfirmed Transactions Problem on: October 26, 2016, 08:48:39 PM
It's not an attack, again, it's just the result of saturation on the blockchain.

The recent price increase has resulted in a high amount of transactions, much higher than the regular volume. As a result, you are now seeing over 60k transactions that have built up on the queue:

https://www.bitcoinqueue.com/details/4d.html

Are there fees in those txs?
I guess there are. So it will be a game theo task to the miners to switch to BU and earn that extra honey first and we will see a run....
4875  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 26, 2016, 07:35:08 PM
We have only seen higher prices than today's for something like 10 weeks in bitcoins' entire history.

In what currency?

In GBP, JPY or CNY it close to ATH...
4876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum is the future of crypto, bitcoin is not. on: October 26, 2016, 07:29:19 PM
maybe there is still some hope for you: Andreas Anatonopoulos and Gavin Wood will write a book Mastering ETH Classic

4878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH GETTING DUMPED HARD!!!! on: October 26, 2016, 12:25:29 PM
etherum ETH never hard dumped
this dump or price is down still control and slow down not fast dump and hard dump
this now price ETH is still stable price

It could drop in price in the next few months when most investors will divert their attention to ZCash.

The Business models for ETH and ZCash are quite orthogonal - I don't expect anything here - but plumming agains bitcoin....
4879  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Blocksize needs to be increased now. on: October 26, 2016, 11:22:29 AM

No, not really. How about you prove that they aren't spam? 30k unconfirmed transactions in the 1-10 satoshis/byte range says a lot.

Sorry I can't. I have no clear definition / qualifier to detect spam and separate from good txs.

All I know is that this type of definition / qualifier is constant over time.

Why do we have so much spam shouting just starting last few months ?

If we can identify a 'someone' or a group started this would really help here.
4880  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Blocksize needs to be increased now. on: October 26, 2016, 09:26:21 AM
Sorry - why do you say 'spam' - how do you know ?
You can analyze the types of transactions, included fees and whatnot yourself.

Why do you say 'someone' -  how do you know?
That's not your concern.

From you as a mod I'd expect a bit more quality here ...
That is irrelevant and a fallacy.

Thanks for answering on that.

You say 'spam' - > you or others (link?)  need to prove not me .

Same on 'someone' - have you indacation of a single one or a single Group spamming on purpose (that would imply your posting) ? - Clear that you do not Need to say a Name.
