Finally got shipping notice for my miners from the Nov 20- 30 batch

Can these mine on prohashing? I cant seem to connect it properly

Prohashing uses vardiff by default. Try setting the difficulty to 512 with a password argument and see how fast they accept shares.

Awesome, thanks wavelengthsf! I'll only be running 2, think it will be fine running them both at 796mhz?

Yes, just run them on ports 1 and 7 (for example)
424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: solo mining November 2017 on: November 28, 2017, 07:18:36 PM
The best way to do this is to watch the Altcoin Announcements section. As soon as they release a wallet in the thread, download it and mine to it (after scanning it with viruses, etc.)

By the time something is wide enough to be posted here, the early birds have gotten the low difficulty worms.

(note: Most altcoin announcements these days are crappy ICO scams. Don't fall for those - look for non-premined coins with fair launches.)

Man, thanks Kano for the ramp up/ramp down time. PG&E (the power company here in CA) had an outage where my mine is, and I was offline for almost a day. Luckily I still got almost a full reward for the block this morning.

To add to what rifleman says - if you're using AC, you're already making a mistake and destroying your profitability.

You should look into hot aisle/cold aisle design.

You have an intake where cooler air (from outside, not AC'd) comes in and feeds the intake of the S9s. You have another aisle on the other side which sucks out the hot air coming from them, likely some kind of high CFM fan setup,

This way you're bringing in cooler air on one side, and getting rid of the hot air coming out of them.

Thank you. I see.

Do you think 40ºC circulating air in and out of them is enough to keep them cool?

As long as they're running lower than 100C, you should be fine.

Is anyone using the Plugable hub (http://a.co/gqAEvug) that can comment on how it works with these sticks?

I tested it with 3 sticks for another user. They ran great at the stock setting of 600.

429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Moonlander 2 Driver and Support Thread on: November 28, 2017, 02:53:36 PM
Up and running! Going to tweak the settings a bit more tonight, but out of the box the only thing I needed to change was the clock frequency. Mine wouldn't start at the default 600. I tried 756 as someone else suggest it, that didn't work, so I changed it to 540 and it's been running since last night.

What hub are you using? Seems to be the biggest factor in what clock settings work.

I still can't understand how the hell December batch is delivered before November batch?  Huh

What the fuck?

Yeah, scratching my head too. Seems like the BCH batch that came on the site for Nov after the dec batch is lower priority to them

Looks like these might be sold, will update if they are.
432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: FutureBit Moonlander 2 USB Hubs Thread on: November 27, 2017, 11:25:20 PM
Awesome, I wonder though if 4x usb extension cables could be used on the unused ports?

That one I can't help much with - don't have an extra extension cables to try.
433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: FutureBit Moonlander 2 USB Hubs Thread on: November 27, 2017, 11:19:07 PM

Anyone able to try 7x moonlander 2 on one of these hubs ?

Just to help out, I did a test for you.

You can't fit 7 in one anyway, since the fans stick out.
434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Moonlander 2 Driver and Support Thread on: November 27, 2017, 09:35:56 PM
so i was having some problems keeping these things running.. they shut off one by one until no more are active.

i decided to up the speed to 756 which is the recommended speed in the main thread.. and since then mine have been running non stop for 1 day and 14 hours. with no issues..

maybe speed 600 is too slow? or the current draw wasnt enough to keep the usb hub happy.. i dont know.. but it seems to be a lot better at 756.

Definitely sounds like a power issue. Running at 756 for me works ok, but the miners are more stable at 600 in my testing with 21 on one hub.
435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Moonlander 2 Driver and Support Thread on: November 27, 2017, 07:35:55 PM
Total noob question here.
How do we set these up to mine for us? I'm coming from the world of GPU miners where I choose a pool, software, and just edit a config file w my wallet or login info.
What do I need to do on these to set them up? Got 10 and plan on giving them away at Xmas.
Plugged on in on my Mac and looks like it's working. But don't know what to edit...
Thank you!!!

Its the same as GPU mining.

You download the special build of BFGMiner from the link in the first post. There's a batch file/shell file (if you're on *Nix) that has the command line to run.

You change the command line to your pool and username (and password) and run it - from then on, you're mining.
436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: FutureBit Moonlander 2 USB Hubs Thread on: November 27, 2017, 06:57:33 PM
ok - thats a shame and a bit naughty if it does (not saying you're wrong) but their web site (for both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0) hubs says:

Quote
Q: Can the hub support 7 devices which charge at the full BC 1.2 CDP 1.5A rate?
A: Yes, the supplied power adapter delivers 12A of available current across all USB ports which leaves us 1.5A left over (7 * 1.5A = 10.5A). Non BC 1.2 devices max out at only 500mA per the USB 2.0 specification leaving ample power for every port to be used at the same time.

Sad

Each set of ports can get up 1.5amp, I believe.

Port 1,2
Port 3 ,4
Port 5,6,7

Its been a while since I read the Sidehack USB thread linked in the first post, where they did this testing

(Edit: comment is here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1779423.msg17921042#msg17921042 )
437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: FutureBit Moonlander 2 USB Hubs Thread on: November 27, 2017, 06:48:41 PM
So been thinking about these "pluggable" ones and noticed this comment:

.......
Budget Hub for 3 or fewer Moonlanders
Pluggable USB hub - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L2LK164
These have 3 voltage regulators that are shared by the ports next to each other, so you can only run at max 3 of the Moonlanders. Put one on port 1, port 4, and port 7.
.......

So - Has anyone tried to connect 7 moonlander to either of these hubs?  I know they might have space issues but i'm sure a mini USB extension cable like this one could fix that:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-3-0-Angle-90-Degree-Extension-Cable-Male-to-Female-Adapter-Cord-length-20cm/372061915159?hash=item56a09e4817:m:mthDKeekyOy4PZktBWEZgtA

Plus do these Moonlander 2 devices "fool" the hub into thinking that they are a BC 1.2 device:
https://www.maximintegrated.com/en/app-notes/index.mvp/id/5801
if they do - just need to look for a BC 1.2 compatible hub, yes ?

You can only connect 3 moonlanders to the pluggables. They have 3 voltage regulators that limit the amperage to the ports driven by each one. 7 won't work.
438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: FutureBit Moonlander 2 USB Hubs Thread on: November 27, 2017, 05:49:26 PM
I have a few hubs that I'm going to try using (don't have any miners yet), any ideas if these will work:

Belkin F4U041
http://www.belkin.com/uk/p/P-F4U041/
PSU: 5v 4A

Sipolar A200 20 Port USB hub
http://www.sipolar.com/page172.html?product_id=14
PSU: 20v 4.5A

Anker® USB 3.0 9-Port Hub
https://www.anker.com/products/variant/USB-3.0-SuperSpeed-10-Port-Hub-/68ANHUB-B10A
PSU: 12v 4A

I'm not sure if any of these will be any good, think the ports are limited to around 1amp Sad

Anyone comment with any success stories with any of these & Moonlander?

The Sipolar A223 will definitely work. I have 12 moonlanders running on that. Not sure about the A200.

The A223 has 5V 40A, so 2amp per port. Don't think any of these will reliably run more than 2 miners.

439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: FutureBit Moonlander 2 USB Hubs Thread on: November 27, 2017, 04:06:34 PM
any idea will anker 7 hold 3 of these sticks?

Can you link it and we can see?
