Anyone get any further info from Canaan re shipment of this batch?
I got the replacement fan today - without any notice from Canaan saying it had actually shipped/tracking number. Like the miner I'm waiting for was just notified that it was in-progress and I'd be told when it shipped.
Anywho, got it, about 5min later to replace the fan/shroud and the 721 is happy again. Now wondering if the miners are also in-transit for us...
Still shows "Processing..." as my status. FedEx or UPS delivery manager usually pings me when a new shipment is coming, but not sure if they used them or another shipper.

Hi to all! First I have to say that I'm totally new to all regarding bitcoin mining. I bought Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, and GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 and USB hub with self power (900mA) I try all different ways to start mining, but non of them works for me (I'm doing something wrong for sure ) Few days ago I found Minera and I was hopping that I will get mining started finally but I was wrong I did all the steps and when I insert SD card into RPi in booting section I get this error "[FAILED] Failed to start /etc/rc.local Compatibility. See 'systemctml status rc-local.service' for details."And when its all done I see a line What I did to fix this was: 1) Login with the minera user (default password is minera) 2) Use nano to edit the rc.local > sudo nano /etc/rc.local Added a # comment to the lines that get the IP and echo it: # Print the IP address _IP=$(hostname -I | tr -d ' ') || true printf "Connect to http://%s/minera to manage Minera\n" "$_IP" printf "Happy mining!\n" becomes # Print the IP address #_IP=$(hostname -I | tr -d ' ') || true #printf "Connect to http://%s/minera to manage Minera\n" "$_IP" #printf "Happy mining!\n" I only got this problem when I was on wi-fi, but commenting those lines above fixed the rc.local not loading. Additionally, you could add a sleep there.

Decentralized stores work really well when there are no trustable authorities. With colleges, you have multiple accrediting bodies which certify the trustworthiness of an institution. How does a blockchain help with this? You still have: - Need to trust the institution writing to the chain
- Need to verify that the owner of the diploma token is who they say they are
How do you plan to address these problems? For example, a school has a registrar's office. That office handles transcripts and validations, but multiple people work there. Would they publish all their degrees to the chain? Would they issue a keypair to every student? How would you ensure students don't lose their keypair? If they did, wouldn't you need a way to regenerate them, meaning you'd need a mutable blockchain entry, or you'd need to give a school to ability to move a "degree" from one address to another. Doesn't the ability to do that break the trust that a degree is associated with the correct individual?

Hello Everyone, anyone working Avalon, on 1200W PSU? can you tell me can it handle?
Its risky - the specs want it to run at 1150W with up to a 15% variance, which would put you at 1322. Use a 1500 to be safe. No, 1150 W is the power consumption measured at wall. HP 1200W server power supply is sufficient when your mains voltage is from 200V to 240V area. End of story. With the 93% PSU power efficiency in the Avalon specs the consumption in the 12VDC rail is about 1070W. Ah ok - I was running mine at 120V, so that was the issue. Time to for a 220 circuit or two put in

So far it hasn't shown to be in stock. I think they're clearing out the back orders until they list more.
My order from 8/8 got updated to Processing like most of the other replies who were waiting for things like a BTC address.

If your cgminer built, you likely have those libraries. However, that is the first part of the build - you need those before you can do the subsequent steps.
What's your minera log say when you use the custom cgminer? What are the parameters you're passing it? Does the cgminer you built work without minera?
|
|
|
From your minera, did you select the Custom Miner option?
|
|
|
No they draw under 1200w for the 6.3th version
So probably around 1600w for the 9 th version then? Antminer S9 gives you 13th for 1600w Should be between 1250 - 1500w based on their website.

Sorry - maybe I'm rusty on my linux.
I was trying to create a subfolder for the user to add the cgminer they build into. I can edit out my change. (I see that I should've also made it so the checkout goes to the 2pac folder, but looking at my minera, its not an issue.)

Can you use Minera on RPi 2? I'm trying to get WiFi to work on my RPi 2.
When I have cable and WiFi connected, I can see that both cable and WiFi gets an IP, but when I take of the cable the WiFi is disappearing. I can't get in contact with the system.
I have been followed the link you wrote earliere.
Do I have to do something else for me only to get access by WiFi?
You need to setup Wifi on your pi like this: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/wireless/wireless-cli.md

Hello guys, I need some help as i just got started into bitcoin mining as a hobby (with a GekkoScience 2 Pac miner). I had setup a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, running the latest version of Minera based on the youtube guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQndxAfk-hM . The initial setup of Minera is fine, however Minera is unable to detect the miner and the hashing speed is 0. The miner is a steady bright white colour, and Minera log is as follows: Appreciate if someone could help, thanks! You need to install the vh version of cgminer as a custom miner into Minera. SSH into your Minera Pi, and follow the steps for "Raspbian - Kernel version: 4.4 (Raspberry Pi)". (edit: removed my extra steps based on feedback below.) Once those are done, you should have a folder called cgminer. In that folder, copy the cgminer binary to /var/www/minera/minera-bin/custom/ It'll then show up in Minera as a custom miner. (Full instructions here for Adding custom miners: https://github.com/michelem09/minera/wiki/Local-miners)

they could send :
the fans cables dongles daughter boards rasp pi 3
to people like me In a few spots around the world thus repair parts would be quick and easy to get.
no hash board or case but the rest good be sent.
would help miners get gear working again.
If I had a case of fans a 20 pack of dongles a 20 pack of four pin wires a dozen daughter boards some rasp pi 3's
it would ease the main office
if a guy had them in europe
if a guy had them in australia
a list for spare parts on the website. this would have to help.
I built 2 spare rasp pi's
I have an extra dongle
Open up authorized repair centers and have a certification you need to get to maintain the warranty. Seems like the next level of growth, similar to what PC makers used to do. Keep in mind though that managing that network is another full time job, and it seems like they're short on staff as it is.

Yes, it was a very odd process. I got my miner and it is running to spec, but they're not setup for scale at all. Seems like a flood of orders would quickly overwhelm them.
|
|
|
Once you get it setup, there's not much to do.
It just sits there working and pulling power. You need to make sure it doesn't run too hot.

Yep, also got my address and sent in the BTC. Let's see how close to the 23rd the units arrive.

Also got my address as well, new toys for the mine.

My eBit e9 miner showed up early, and I got a chance to play around with it. Here's the basic stats: - Pulls 1077 watts ( I used an EVGA 1500w power supply to test at home)
- About 68 dB
- Runs around 56C
- The UI was in English
Some setup gotchas: The sticker on the miner says it was supposed to be a static IP of 192.168.80.140. I couldn't get it connect at this IP, and ran wireshark to see what what happening. Turns out the sticker was wrong and it was running at 192.168.4.3. If you can't connect to the IP on the sticker, and the address that worked for me doesn't work, you can try to use Wireshark and look for the ARP requests from "Zhejiang..." (appended with whatever the MAC address is.) Here's an Imgur gallery of the UI and some of the setup options: https://imgur.com/a/H4RSN

Beyond that - don't mix the A721 and A741 on same controller. They run fine but -- when upgrading the miner Firmware it is applied to all miners on the controller.
There are specific versions for the 721 and 741 and neither likes being flashed with the wrong version... Been there, done that....
Thanks for the heads up! I guess luckily they sold out of the 741s before they could get me a BTC address, so I didn't run into this. I hope they get you your fan, though! (Also following the A7 thread.)

While it would be great to have some competition in the marketplace against Bitmain, I'm not sure I trust this company Ebit fully to actually order from them. It seems weird to have the price and power consumption listed on a per TH basis instead of just flat out saying it, this raises some red flags at least for me.
While it is not a clean ordering experience at all, being able to file a chargeback (since they take paypal) goes a lot way to holding them accountable. My miner that I ordered last week from them arrives on Monday, so i'll happily review it then.
