Postgap is just one of things to consider account change hands. There are some things to consider when investigate potential account ownership changes. Just talking about postgap, they maybe come from users themselves when they delete their past bad posts, then postgap spear after cleanup process. In short, postgap is not enough to judge changes of ownership. Poststyle, IP address, email & password changes are other things.
422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SEMUX: Discussion on: May 03, 2019, 05:27:11 AM
One of reasons that potential investors decide don't invest into SEMUX is its strange terms: delegates, and validators. Those terms presented here: https://github.com/semuxproject/semux-core/blob/master/docs/Delegates-and-Validators.md
To be honest, at the first time I read those terms, I did not understand what it means. I had to read it ten times over days to understand delegates and validators, as well as their roles on SEMUX network.
People should buy SEM on exchanges, then become validators to get  more passive SEMs (guide is here: https://www.semux.org/)

423  Other / Meta / Re: Ideas for improving local boards? on: May 03, 2019, 04:31:04 AM
There are some reasons to keep users using local boards:
- Due to their limited English, so they feel unpretentious with their English, and don't have intention to improve, they will stick with local boards.
- Due to their dedication to help locals in local boards. They can help proficient English but they have interests to stick with local boards to help others with their knowledge and skills. However, those users actually join other boards, maybe to read only or even discuss.

There are some reasons from which users don't have interests to use their local boards:
- Spam: they feel tired of spam and shitposts, so they left their boards.
- Boring/inactive boards: They don't have interests to join boards that looks very inactive, then they left.

Consequently, to improve local boards, there are so many things to do, and that can not be reached with only innitiatives from staffs, mods, merit sources or limited outstanding users. It depends on all members in local boards. When users stop spamming, and change their attitude of posting habits in their boards, to contribute more with their posts, their local boards will become more active, more interesting. It is the same what happened with bitcointalk.org, before merit system started, many users left due to terrible spamming, now they likely joined back or new users feel more interesting to join the forum (spamming almost elimimated).
424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SEMUX: Discussion on: May 03, 2019, 03:57:47 AM
I would like to note that the coin is being traded not only on STEX and Tokok but also on Citex (South Korea-based exchange):
https://www.citex.co.kr/#/trade/2/77

It is also currently voting for adding SEMUX to BitMesh exchange:
https://bitmesh.com/?b1f8tkogm#/scheme/vote
You can vote every day.
Great findings. I updated OP with link to Citex. And, someone who have interests in SEMUX, and want to support it, please feel free to support through your vote everyday on Bitmesh (link to join the vote posted above). Today, SEMUX traded from 45xx to 47xx satoshis on Citex and STEX, whilst it has traded around 57xx satoshis on Totok (but buy orders above 5xxx satoshis are not too high). I traded SEMUX on STEX for months, since early months of 2018, and still sticked with that exchange so far.
425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DASH : News, Information and Discussion on: May 03, 2019, 02:24:21 AM

Source: https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/dash-hashrate.html

DASH, has actually hit its new all time high with total hashrate stood at 3.5372P at the moment. It means total hashrate on DASH network has increased around 9.27 percent from its previous all time high at 3.237P. It is significant rise within only one week. With the rise of DASH on market, I believe that total hashrate will rise higher in short-term, due to more transactions will be made on the network from people whom want to take profits, and from people whom want to buy more DASH for their portfolios.
Current ATH of 3.237P is from 3 nov 2018.

DASH accumulated and warmed up enough. Finally, DASH broke the 0.022 point hours ago, it's early signal that the winter of DASH has gone. For now, the key factor for more growth of DASH, beyond developments by DASH team, is volume. Total volume of DASH has still been very low, and the coin actually need more demands, that will create good momentum to bring DASH moving higher. There are nearly 51 BTC traded last day, and historical data presents DASH volume fluctuated in narrow range from $250 mi. to $300 mil. By the way, it is interesting to see qwizzie is a big fan of Poloniex.  Tongue
428  Other / Meta / Re: Cabalism13's Merit Source Application on: May 02, 2019, 03:13:58 AM
More merit sources do no create issues, but rather open the possibility to a more diverse merit awarding criteria and extent. Although naturally supervising local board merit assignment is language limited, the whole Merit System has an inherent amount of assigned trust given to the Merit Sources. If any of them go rouge, eventually they will be spotted, even if on a local board level (and sMerit TXs can be reverted by admin if need be).
I don't say more merit sources will always create positive net-effects. It depends on quality of merit sources and their works after becoming merit sources, besides situation in their local boards (abusement levels). If in their local boards, there are extreme abusements, merit sources in such boards have more works to do in order to fullfil their tasks as merit sources: Help good users to rank up, whilst prevent bad users to abuse and rank up.
I have known that the admin can revert abused merits from sources or from several users (one or two times, as I remembered). However, such cases are unexpected ones, both for admin and for the forum.
Let's return to the local board merit sources:
- Think widely a little bit: How many merit sources in total we have now?
There are 123 merit sources with a total merit generation of up to 20855 sMerit per 30 days
- How many local boards the forum have?
1. Arabic (yes), 1 mod
2. Bahasa Indonesia (yes) 2 mods
3. Español (Spanish) (yes) 1 mod
4. Chinese (yes) 1 mod
5. Hrvatski (Croatian) (No)
6. Deutsch (German) (No)
7. Ελληνικά (Greek) (yes) 1 mod
8. עברית (Hebrew)  (yes) 1 mod
9. Français (yes) 1 mod
10. India (No)
11. Italiano (Italian) (yes) 1 mod
12. 日本語 (Japanese) (yes) 1 mod
13. Nederlands (Dutch) (No)
14. 한국어 (Korean) (No)
15. (Pilipinas) (yes) 1 mods
16. Polski (yes) 1 mod
17. Português (Portuguese) (yes) 1 mod
18. Русский (Russian) (yes) 2 mods
19. Română (Romanian) (yes) 1 mod
20. Skandinavisk (No)
21. (yes) 1 mod
22. Other languages / locations (yes) 1 mod.

- How many merit sources in total in the Pilipinas board?
2 merit sources, at least, because the board has 2 mods.

If there is need to add new merit sources, it should be added for local boards that have not had a single merit source, by now.

Filipino are a bit lazy when it comes to understanding other languages.
It is obviously their faults, due to their laziness. It is always easier to stick with the first languages, learning and using second languages are harder, but it worths our time, especially with the International language like English. How locals can read news as in real-time as possible without English? I meant, they can wait for hours or even days later to see original news translated into their first languages by someone in their local community or in their nations. It's too late in crypto, if they are news-hunters, so they have to know English, enough to read.

429  Other / Meta / Re: Cabalism13's Merit Source Application on: May 01, 2019, 08:26:48 AM
How about people who come from locked boards? This is disadvantage for them, and reasons caused locked boards maybe not come from them. It's not fair for them, but they have to accept it. Personally, I think that more merit sources only create issues, not solve issues. All mods can check everything written in English (because English is international language), but with local languages, things become more shady.
People should simply contribute, enjoy their contributions, then they  will naturally get their merits, for their good posts. It does not matter that there are 0, 1 or 10 merit sources in their local boards. Nowadays, modern people should know English, at least enough to read and write. So, it's enough to join global discussions in the forum. Global means, beyond their local boards.

Having local boards in the forum already a advantage for those guys. They can do something more easily than others. When they see excellent topics, they translated them into their local languages, posted translated topics in their local boards. I don't say their works are unconstructive, but their works (translation) actually much more easily than original authors of those topics they choose to translate. Merits are not scarce (for good posts), even in local boards there are so many people hold their smerits. If someone make good posts, they will certainly have chance to receive merits in their local boards, from their locals.

In a summary, I think they should not complain too much about lack of merit sources in local boards. Keep contributing, then they will all fine, with or without merit sources in their local boards.
430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DASH : News, Information and Discussion on: May 01, 2019, 06:24:15 AM
DASH has grown solidly recent months, hence it made me surprised with congestion around 0.02 to 0.021 BTC for one DASH coin during last two or three weeks. The recovery of DASH last two months in the USD pair is good, I can not deny it. However, I expect more rallies of DASH in the BTC pair. With the top-notch technology (highly focused on privacy) that DASH can bring to its users and crypto world in general, I believe DASH is worthy at least 0.03 BTC per coin.

Today, I read the topic, in Meta: account lock again part 2. Theymos see pls here!!!! Need help. You can read the whole topic because by now it has lasted only two pages.
The story of the 'hacked' (assume it was really hacked) account is strange. This is my first time I see such ban appeal.

In case that the hack account story is a real one, what members can learn from that and secure their accounts better?

[1] Don't disclosing your IP publicly (in the forum, or somewhere else)
[2] Logging and checking your account activities regularly

[1] Don't disclosing your IP publicly (in the forum, or somewhere else)
This guy disclosed his IP address as a hope to see account unbanned, but it is a bad idea. He only changed his post to xx.xx.xx.xx after warned by @iasenko.
My ip address always xx.xx.xx.xx and not change last 3 year

You can give your IP address to admin or staffs only if they require you to do this. If they don't require, and you want to say that you have one more proof that your account hacked some period in the past by giving the information that your IP address to log in is only one. That's all you should do, raising the kind of proof, and waiting for official requirements from admin or staffs.
Please remember that you should not disclose your IP address to anyone at any place!
Place to update with topic on weaknesses of most router that usually have common password like '12345'. I just read it yesterday, but don't remember where it is. (I still search to find it)
[Guide] Bitcointalk account security

  • 1- Using multiple web-browsers on the same machine for different purposes (chrome, waterfox, opera, safari, brave, etc.) For example: one for social media purposes, another for banking / crypto, another one for surfing / researching, other for entertainment and so on. Also make sure to configure them properly installing useful add-ons. Like the following:
  • 1.1- Password manager Add-ons like LastPass or KeePass are essential both for storing + generating random combinations of characters, just make sure to setup 2FA as well as never losing access to the associated email.
  • 1.2- Ad-blockers will censor most of the annoying ads including scams / phishing pop-ups. uBlock Origin is the best.
  • 1.3- Disconnect add-on is great for saving time + bandwidth by blocking 3rd party scripts used for social media metrics, advertising, analytics, etc. Also enhances privacy.
  • 1.4- Privacy Badger add-on blocks all those undesirable trackers that let others monitor your activity.
  • 1.5- EtherAddressLookup is a must for crypto enthusiasts, it performs an automated address lookup as well as warns you against blacklisted domains. it prevents you against phishing / loosing money.
  • 1.6- Running proxy scripts on your browsers is highly recommended because hides your real IP from websites by sending fake headers with anonymous IP addresses. it is easy to setup and gives you peace of mind.
  • 1.7- Finally replace your default search engine Google with a more reliable one like Duckduckgo.com. it is private & simplified without Ads fighting to be on top of the results. You will less likely fall into fake sites, with a plus of a more personalized experience. Highly recommended doing this switch.
  • 2- Using a VPN (paid or free) in order to prevent man-in-the-middle attacks, specially if your connection is wifi and you carry a laptop, also to prevent / bypass government censorship. There are a lot of services worth trying, just pick one that doesn't keep user logs + accept crypto as payment. Also keep in mind that the free ones are great but much slower: ultrasurf.us & riseup.net
  • 3- Incorporate the habit of changing your passwords more often, let say 6 months minimum to 1-2 years max.
  • 4- Make backups more often, or make it automated. Be prepared to deal with data-loss and ransomware. Also always keep your sensitive data offline to prevent identity theft.
I'm probably the same. I use a variety of devices, a variety of locations, a variety of connection methods, a variety of VPN servers, and a variety of browsers. I would take a guess at having ~20 different IPs logged against my username.

As others have said, if you are concerned about your IP being logged, either use Tor or a reputable VPN. See https://thatoneprivacysite.net/vpn-section/ if you don't know where to start. Also be aware that if you use Microsoft, Apple, Google, Chrome, Facebook, etc., then a hell of a lot more than just your IP address is being logged.

[2] Logging and checking your account activities regularly
Even you don't post or create topics too often, whenever you log in, you should open your post history or your last topic page to check your account activities.
With the strange situation when hackers hack your accounts, but don't change password, and only use your accounts to write posts or create topics to scam, or spreading malwares, viruses. The second step is helpful for you to discover strange activities of your accounts, that mostly come from hackers.

Lastly, you should secure your account better with Bitcoin signed message.
Stake your bitcoin address here
How to sign a message?!
Someone signed their Ethereum address but you should only sign bitcoin message as proof of your account ownership. Because it is the bitcoin forum, not Ethereum forum, and admin or staffs only (or mostly) accept Bitcoin signed message. You will easier recover your account with bitcoin signed message.

Hi Lucius,
You got me. I have known that but forgot to write it down when composing the OP. With your help, I already the OP. I thank you so much for your valuable reply
[3] Reading previous flow of discussions
After reading the first two (Topic title, and OP), you should spend your time to find out which things have been discussed till the day you find that topic. Which flow of dicussions and ideas raised and answered in previous posts. This step is only unnecessary when you are the first people find and read topic, and there is no or less replies after OP before you read it.
You can read OP, or someone do a little better by readind the OP, and last post, or OP + first previous posts after OP + last posts, then typing your reply with intention to help authors or to discuss, but it will become non-sense and off-context reply if topic's authors actually find what they asked for with replies for others, before yours.
Tips:
- Reading the OP;
- Scanning to find merited posts, and read some posts around merited posts;
- Reading last few posts.

435  Other / Beginners & Help / Posters - Read before composing and publishing your posts on: April 30, 2019, 06:20:48 AM

Reading is one of the most essential things in human culture. People read many types of things, from online sources (news, social media groups, message platforms), from paper things (textbooks, newspaper), and more. Today, I would like to raise to discussion, that is also a Warning for posters, especially newbies.

What we should do first in the forum? Reading, Writing, or Discussing?
No matter what your opnion is, the answer for all of us is available there:
Newbies - Read before posting (by Lauda)

Besides things presented in the Lauda's topic,I want to ask you: What we should read?
[1] Reading the OP's title;
[2] Reading the OP's contents;
[3] Reading previous flow of discussions;
[4] Reading the day of last post.

Let's look deeper in to each of these three Reading steps.
[1] Reading the OP's title
Topic title is the one that help readers to fastly have first impression and main ideas of one topic. It is only true with topics that have good title. Theymos has a guide on how to make good topic titles here:
Topic title style guide
You should read the topic titles first, before moving to OP contents and read  more. If the topic tiltes are boring, you can skip those topics. However, I don't generalize that boring topic titles are always equal to boring topics. Maybe, sometimes writers don't have good skills to choose good titles for their topics. So, if you actually have time to read, you should move to read OP's contents, even with boring topic titles.

[2] Reading the OP's contents
The topic titles give your first impressions, but the most important thing of topics are OP's contents. Good topics mostly have well-organized contents. They usually writen down with main points, from which details, minor points will be spred out to express what authors want to talk about. Therefore, you have to read the OP's contents before start to think of writing down your posts and join discussions.

Tips:
- Reading the OP;
- Scanning to find merited posts, and read some posts around merited posts;
- Reading last few posts.

[4] Reading the day of last post
It does not always true but creating new post to reply to such topics most likely spamming, then your posts most likely will be reported or deleted by mods.
It is spam (usually account farmers). If they miss the posting date, they shouldn't miss the red warning while trying to post:

Other stuffs for Writing
If you don't have the intent to pass off someone else's work as your own in order to pad your post count/size, then you don't deserve a ban, at least.

By university standards, well-known quotes should be in quotation marks, but need not be cited. Sayings don't need quotation marks.
436  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Advantages of engaging in quality contributions on the forum. on: April 30, 2019, 06:10:04 AM
~~~
They post without spending time to fully read what OPs discuss, and the flow of discussions before their post. So, most of time, their posts are off-context, or even off-topic. Off-context, because what they answer actually given by someone else in previous posts in the same topic; off-topic, because they don't read OPs, so they simply write down what they personally think of, their objective opinion, and most of time, their posts are off-topic.
437  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Facts] Advantages of engaging in quality contributions on the forum. on: April 30, 2019, 05:34:14 AM
And obviously, posting, merit & earning attached each other.  For earning good you have to rank up & earn merit, for earning merit you have to make quality post. We can not even eliminate one of these.  All of these helping forum keep emphatic, we can't deny also that.
Today, there is very low odds for shit posters to get acceptance for their applications in high-paying campaigns, that pay for their participants through BTC. The fact is over months, more than one year since January of 2018, when merit system born and actively effective works in the forum, we have seen hundreds of self-promoted users, from Member to even Legendary. Especially, some of them even started from zero (Newbies and zero merit), them moved up to Hero members. That's amazing fact. They have built a new generation of self-promoted users, that spread from low rank (Member) to high rank (Hero and Legendary), and that generation have been more competitive than the old ones include many shitposters.
There are even some guys are totall self-promoted users, like @iasenko, @Coolcryptovator, and more. They could not reach those ranks, if they did not dedicate their time to engage with forum contributions, within continuous months.
438  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Facts] Advantages of engaging in quality contributions on the forum. on: April 29, 2019, 06:11:50 AM
[4]: Reduces your chances of getting banned: Is no longer a news spamming is one of those habits the forum itself and her members frown at and it's also one of quick tickets to getting banned from participating on the forum. Engaging in quality posting definitely reflect on the way you handle your account as a quality poster will consciously obey all forum rules and regulations to avoid getting his/her account ban.
Hello, Mr. Facts,
Maybe, the fourth point is incorrect at somewhat extent. Risks of getting banned (temporary or permanent, whatsoever) is only be reduced if users spend more time to read all forum rules, and really understand them, and know appropriate contexts in which those rules will be applied.
If I was you, I would have written the fourth point as:
[4]: Increases your chances of knowing more about forum rules: When you engaging in good topics, and maintaining your dedication to help forum members, you will have higher chances to occasionally, or intentionally read posts or topics, in which forum rules mentioned and discussed sparsely. Knowing more about forum rules, then having more comprehensive understandings about rules, eventually help to reduce your risks of bans from rules violations.
1. Reading forum rules & Remembering your past posts
Remember that when you get banned, it is obviously that you most likely made something wrong, and violated forum rules. Your ban mostly come from your rule violations, so the first step you should do is finding and reading forum rules!
Please don't do anything else, except this step.
Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ
I could be wrong, but I don't intentionally offend OP for any reason. The OP, actually compose a nice topic, that is helpful, but I don't think the topic is fully satisfies what the OP's ambitiously aims at.
I knew there are a list of GUIDES (by LoyceV), in which you can find nearly almost important and helpful topics
It's there: [GUIDES] on Bitcointalk. Index thread (until there is a dedicated subforum?)
I don't pick off all points in the OP, and I don't think it is necessary to do this. I just pointed out some parts that can be improved better. However, the minus point is if there are actually other topics answer or guide the same issues, I don't think we should have a new topic. So, if OP have something to contribute to available topics, please join those old topics and raise opinion/ contributions.
Of course, it is welcome if OP can really make a better version of all available topics, but I doubt that the OP can do it.
In conclusion, I think it might be better to stick with old topics, and help to improve them via your discussing posts, rather than starting a new one.
