So a CX750M would run two Ants if they weren't OC'd? This is getting really tempting...

I have 15 Ants running on CX750Ms ... and each Ant has its own PSU ... running two on one CX750M would REALLY be pushing it, as I have overclocked to 375.

Each Ant clocks in at 400-420W overclocked, not over clocking averages at 360W = 720W, so a 750W PSU is being pushed.

Better to get a slightly larger PSU at 1000W IMO.

I have ordered both SP10s and later SP30s from the previous GB, but I'm not convinced that this GB price is a winner ... doesn't seem quite like the GB deal you would be looking for, taking ROI calculations etc. into consideration. Yes, SP kit is superior in its built quality, but the bottom line is profit out of mining, so looks and continued reliability can easily be ignored by many when looking at the bottom line. A combined hosting GB sounds an interesting idea as previously mentioned, as would a lower price for the GB SP10.

Any shipping dates for May delivery of SP10's available yet? Will be interesting to play with the settings once they arrive.

If you join my GB the shipping starts on 16th May. (or maybe a bit earlier for the early birds)

Lol, I did .. for the SP30 ... SP10 ... 16th it is hopefully ...

Do you mean control the FANs based on system temperature?

From tests we did, it is very hard to even define wanted behaviour to control the fans based on temperature.
The fan speed effects the hash-rate. It's not binary "too cold/too hot" system. The more you turn on the fans, the colder the ASICs, the less leakage you have, the bigger the hash-rate. Even if we set a desired temperature "threshold", it's really annoying when the system starts changing the fans. It's easier to set "quiet/noisy" based on location of the miner in your apartment and then have no change.

You can write to PWM values once the system is stable (just be careful of course or it will thermal shut-down) - it's in this thread (and in the miner-gate code) how to do that.

Thanks zvisha,

I get the fact that the faster the fans run, the cooler the system runs ... so higher the hash rate, I'm coming at this from a none DC angle, so hosting the units my end. Guess I'm used to running a load of Antminer S1's that run 'loud and fast' and then 'run quiet' as and when they are required to do so. SP10 is a different beast I know.

Any shipping dates for May delivery of SP10's available yet? Will be interesting to play with the settings once they arrive.

Not sure I like what I have been reading over the past few pages in this thread ...

426  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech launches a new line of ASIC miners - Best W/GH/s ratio on: May 07, 2014, 09:15:21 PM
Spondoolies, does the SP10 firmware check fans activity?

I'm about to test my air chamber and i'm ready to remove the fans (PSU fan is still intact)

Let me know if its a problem with the FW.

Thanks

No, we monitor the temperature of ASICs/on board, not the fan activity.
Good luck!

Is this something you might look at in the future? I have read the fans run fulltime 24/7 ... can you update the firmware so they are PWM regulated? I'm sure this was mentioned way back in the thread, sorry if I missed something ... two SP10's arriving soon, so I'm interested if the noise can be 'contained'.

Wow ... the pool speed has dipped hugely from a couple of days ago.

1000 almost within reach Smiley

... It will happen Doc ... to see how the pool has risen over the last 30 days is a test to that.

RoadStress - big thank you from all of us at Spondoolies-Tech
Amazing idea, amazingly organised!

Guy

To Guy and Roadstress, I have been truly impressed with the communications and the order of things in this group buy.

Thank you both.

Roll on August ...

We just hadn't had any orphans out of the last ~400 blocks (until today).

Yeah, I was watching the confirmation status ... took ages ... and I suspected all was not well .. and then it orphaned. It happens.

Is the SP10 May batch shipment still starting next week?

Earlier today Spondoolies said: If you'll order SP10 now, it will be shipped between May 10 and May 15

I also have orders ... so we should be smiling soon.  :-)

I'd be interested to know ... anyone in the UK who received S2 batch 3 ... what customs payment did you have to pay the courier company? Bitmain at times on the S1 declared a low value, are they still doing this?

433  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Special Group Buy - Spondoolies-Tech SP30 pre-order] Specs: 0.69$/GH + 0.46W/GH on: May 01, 2014, 10:04:58 PM
So, I suppose 700 is impossible, right?

 Roll Eyes

At this moment just a Divine Intervention would help Smiley

Err ... TIME IS UP PEOPLE ... no divine intervention unfortunately ... the Bitcoin gods will now prevail ...

434  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 29, 2014, 09:26:10 PM
Well ... I received coupons like many others ... but I won't cash them in.

Loved the S1, but the horror stories on here meant I spent my money elsewhere.

Sorry Bitmain, but even if you get batch 4 right, many of us have been disappointed .. and walked ...

435  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 23, 2014, 08:09:43 PM
Bitmain - we have had a great relationship for the past few months.  Sadly, it looks like it's ending.

Too true, loved the S1, bought loads and they ... well ... just work (as did the price when I bought them).

I was excited when the S2 was announced, but as a rule I don't buy version 1 of anything before seeing some feedback on it. Missed out on batch 2, but my money has now been spent elsewhere on ASICs.

TOO many horror stories I'm afraid, and I don't have the time to baby sit my miners. Price also comes into the equation of course, and right now a lot is happening ... tides are turning ... different offerings are available ...

#1164 for 1 x SP30

... And to follow up with the next order number after Crypto_Cumbrian ... #1165 ... money also sent via Euro Bank Transfer, should reach them tomorrow.

437  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [8500 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+NMC, Stratum, VarDiff, Private Servers on: April 22, 2014, 09:25:05 PM
You should definitely start changing your passwords though, because the wallet changes were confirmed via email, meaning the person has/had access to your email.  The wallet was not locked.

I'm interested to know why BTC Guild doesn't have the option for 2-factor authentication, most other pools do (and yes, my wallet is locked!).

438  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Special Group Buy - Spondoolies-Tech SP30 pre-order] ***EASTER WEEK SALE*** on: April 22, 2014, 08:24:46 PM
!!! Group Buy extension until 30 April for SP10 deal !!!

After negotiating with Spondoolies Tech i managed to get:
- The Group Buy will be prolonged until 30 April 23:55 CEST time;
- When Group Buy will reach 700 units sold ALL participants in the Group Buy will be able to buy SP10 units for $3,400 or $3,000 if they had a previous purchase from other companies under the following terms:
           - Shipping: will be done after 18th May, but some may receive their units faster;
           - Payment: as soon as they showed their interest, 4 days grace maximum. If payment not received in 4 days they lose the shipping queue;
           - Stock: first come first served! The offer is for a limited stock of units and is only valid as long as they have the stock to offer them. They will only charge what they can ship.

No additional reservation fee required.

DAMN !

I ordered and paid for two SP10s over the weekend, only 48 hours ago (with hopeful delivery around 10th May), and also committed to the group buy ... IF we reach x700 SP30 units and the discounted SP10 prices kick in, I could have saved a lot of money!

RoadStress has done a great job in coming up with this in the first place ... and continues to do a great job overseeing things - Thank You! (Also a nod to Guy in fielding lots of questions and being responsive and consistent).

Now ... we all want to see everyone get as good a deal as they can, and 'group force' will enable this. Goal posts move and deals/offers are being introduced fast in this buy, but somehow I feel this might trip people up (like me) ... so please Spondoolies think about existing customers. For me, I'm putting myself on 'pause mode' for a few days ... let's see what happens ... I feel a little irritated right now.

It's under negotiations.

Sounds interesting! ...
