421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 291.2409 BTC for a 0.0001 BTC transaction . on: April 27, 2016, 01:54:02 PM
Yeah I don't know how such a transaction was allowed to go through. I have used a lot of online Bitcoin wallets and every time there would be options to select low medium or high fees depending on how fast one would want their transaction to get confirmations. Why would anyone want to input custom fees for such a huge amount is beyond me. The sender should have just used the highest fee by default and proceed with it.
422  Economy / Speculation / Re: If bitcoin dropped to $1, what you do? on: April 27, 2016, 01:39:01 PM
If, hypothetically, the price of Bitcoin drops to $1 do you think the value of the alt coins will increase? Because all the traders will have lost their investments in the Bitcoin market and they will be buying alt coins instead to try to make up for their negative profit. Do you think my idea is crazy?
423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can we see bitcoin money transfer store in near future? on: April 27, 2016, 01:33:29 PM
I have read about a company that wants to launch offices in France first where people will be able to buy prepaid Bitcoin wallets for cash and if the sum is under $50 there will be no personal identification required. I think it is a great idea and hope to see it soon in more countries around Europe. This will make Bitcoin more mainstream because these offices can be opened in big shopping malls and supermarkets thus promoting the use of Bitcoin.
424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any? on: April 27, 2016, 01:20:19 PM
I don't know if Google is going to integrate Bitcoin in their Google Playstore but people can now buy gift cards for it on 3rd party websites with Bitcoin for a little premium. Microsoft accepts Bitcoin so I guess Google will follow suit soon.
425  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 291.2409 BTC for a 0.0001 BTC transaction . on: April 27, 2016, 11:08:55 AM
Did Bitclub network get the entire amount of 291 Bitcoins in miner's fees or they got only a portion of it? If they return everything to the legitimate sender that would be amazing and a great example for the integrity of the Bitcoin community. Can anyone update us if there is something new as I can't check Twitter right now.
426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's TOYS, do you like it??? on: April 27, 2016, 07:23:05 AM
I don't think the kids will understand what Bitcoin is if they get such a toy. I mean manufacturers could put the Bitcoin logo on cars, trucks etc. but how will the parents explain to their kids what Bitcoin is and what their kids can do with a digital currency like Bitcoin?
427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: AML & KYC on Bitcoin on: April 27, 2016, 07:15:14 AM
Personally I have no problems providing my ID for the KYC procedure to the exchanges if they require so, I am accustomed to this process already anyways so it's not a big deal to me. I know some people will feel uncomfortable giving out private details but we the Bitcoin users aren't doing anything illegal using the crypto coin so we don't have to worry about this. This regulation is against what Bitcoin stands for but we have to submit to it I guess.
428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First transaction ever in Steam (video) on: April 27, 2016, 05:16:30 AM
Yay it looks so easy and fast to deposit Bitcoins to my Steam account. Now I have the excuse to stop using PayPal for buying games on Steam and I don't need to go to 3rd party Steam games resellers any more who are overcharging for their stuff sold for Bitcoins anyways so good riddance  Cheesy
Now I need to restrict myself not to spend my entire Bitcoin wallet on games  Grin
429  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does sending Bitcoins feel good? on: April 25, 2016, 04:50:59 PM
Guys do you remember your first transaction? I remember being very nervous because I was afraid I was going to mess up something and the coins would be sent to the wrong address  Grin I feel kinda nostalgic of the good old times when I was just starting with Bitcoin and everything looked so difficult and magical at the same time.
430  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What wallets do you use and why? on: April 25, 2016, 04:14:20 PM
I have started using Green Address Bitcoin wallet as my hot wallet and I am loving it. The PIN Log In feature is very convenient when you want to login from anywhere because you don't have to remember difficult passwords and just use a favorite combination of numbers. This simple feature makes my life so much easier when I am in a hurry to buy something with Bitcoin. All in all Green Address is very lightweight and efficient and I highly recommend it to everyone.
431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which country does NOT use Bitcoin? on: April 25, 2016, 04:02:42 PM
I think only the Supreme Leader of North Korea Mr. Kim Jong-un has a Bitcoin paper wallet stashed under his pillow in his palace  Grin The ordinary people in North Korea have nothing to eat let alone use a computer in working order which is very rare. I have seen some photos from a guy who has been there and the scenes were really shocking. I doubt the common people would know what Bitcoin is at all.
432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Steam + Bitcoin = Confirmed ! on: April 25, 2016, 02:57:00 PM
Yeah mate I fully agree with you, the most important thing is not the possibility to buy games on Steam with Bitcoin but the massive exposure Bitcoin will gain to the whole gaming community on Steam which encompasses people from every country and continent. Imagine if half of these people become Bitcoin users and the positive effect it would have on the price and general adoption. Getting Bitcoin on Steam is a huge step towards making Bitcoin mainstream.
433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where do Exchanges get BitCoins ? on: April 25, 2016, 02:46:25 PM
Exchanges are peer to peer platforms where users exchange fiat for Bitcoin and vice versa. I don't think the Bitcoin exchanges need a lot of backing up by investors and a big starting capital to operate because everything is being deposited and withdrawn by the users and the exchanges are only profiting from the withdrawal fees.
434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: paper wallet - security concerns - best way to create one. on: April 25, 2016, 02:34:22 PM
I think the Linux live distro cd is the best approach as you won't need to format any HDD on a second computer and reinstall the OS to make a secure environment. Also make sure that you are offline while generating the paper wallet. If you don't have a printer just buy the cheapest one around with no fancy features and print it at home because I don't trust public ones. Also laminating the paper wallet and putting it in a safe deposit box will make it last forever while hardware wallets may break.
435  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal or BTC on: April 25, 2016, 02:18:07 PM
I use both PayPal and Bitcoin. I use PayPal as my checking account when I am purchasing goods online and Bitcoin is my savings account where most of my digital money goes to. I don't keep a lot of money on PayPal as they sometimes play dirty with your funds and can freeze your account out of the blue. I have deposited only amounts just enough for my purchases and nothing more. Any surplus of money every month goes to my bank account and Bitcoin wallet.
436  Economy / Speculation / Re: If bitcoin dropped to $1, what you do? on: April 25, 2016, 02:10:28 PM
Well if we assume the price of Bitcoin dropped to $1 for a moment, how can we be sure the price will increase again? After such a devastating crash people will probably be afraid to invest in Bitcoin ever again and Bitcoin will never recover again. I don't think even the most powerful speculators would be able to orchestrate such a drop. It most likely will be the end for Bitcoin if this happens.
437  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People hate Bitcoins? on: April 25, 2016, 02:01:45 PM
I think people who aren't acquainted with Bitcoin don't outright hate it, they are probably skeptical about it and that's all. It doesn't make sense to hate something innovative that you haven't used yet. Funnily enough I have met people who hate PayPal with a passion because PayPal have caused a lot of grief by freezing legitimate accounts for no apparent reasons. We don't have such issues with Bitcoin as we are our own bank and no one can tell us what to do. So people who hate Bitcoin are just blind fools who are biased towards fiat.
438  Other / Off-topic / Re: How kids can "earn" Bitcoin ? on: April 25, 2016, 01:48:11 PM
I don't have kids yet and I don't know what other parents give their kids as pocket money but I don't think teaching your kids how to earn and trade Bitcoins is a great idea. How can you explain economics and finance to kids who are still learning about math at school? And if you do give them Bitcoins they can't exchange the coins for cash because they are underage. Maybe they could buy some games on Steam now that Valve will include Bitcoin in the payment methods. Are your kids allowed to use your credit cards to order stuff online because Bitcoin is essentially digital money that requires supervision by an adult.
439  Economy / Economics / Re: Can we Manipulate Bitcoin price? on: April 24, 2016, 10:39:21 PM
We would need a lot of resources to manipulate the Bitcoin price like other big whale speculators are doing at the moment and I don't think we here on Bitcointalk have the capital to do so. We would need millions of dollars in Bitcoins to make any changes to the price. Theoretically speaking what amount of Bitcoin could we gather if we pool all our coins into a mutual fund? I don't think we will even begin to scratch the surface with that sum to be honest. Do you know any super rich Bitcointalk forum members by any chance?
440  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Shapeshift: Security by nature insecure "I personally trained their staff." on: April 24, 2016, 09:18:29 PM
ShapeShift should have had a more stringent audit of their new employees before hiring them. I think it's a little harsh saying that the whole system is compromised when in reality there was 1 compromised person with ulterior motives who spoiled the party for everyone. Do you think something like this can happen again if Erik finds other professionals with conscience this time around?
