4361  Economy / Economics / Trading or mining? That is the question.. on: June 16, 2011, 08:40:57 PM
Just wondering with the recent increase in mining difficulty and another increase coming soon, how many of you are considering giving up mining and buying BTC's with the proceeds, and trading them for profit instead?
4362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Media EchoChamber: The guy who lost $500,000 of BTC on: June 16, 2011, 08:19:35 PM

4363  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Very high rejection rate to bitcoins.lc on: June 16, 2011, 07:46:49 PM
I'm getting about a 5% rejection rate

Going to add flag -a2 back in cos I think I was getting lower rejection rate with that before OS reinstall

I though so to, but there is always some kind of drift in a range, In my years (looking at 10's thousands of charts) Ive never seen a flat lining effect like this after such a huge range of trade.

The question stands, does 11.6 fix this?

I can confirm this issue has been fixed Smiley
4368  Other / Beginners & Help / Dark theme available for this site on: June 16, 2011, 11:18:11 AM
Hi noobs

if after hours of taking in all the great info on this site you find the bright white theme of this board too much for the eyes (like I did), you can change it to a nice dark one.

Go to your profile and look for theme -> change  Cool

edit: oh and the board seems faster too with this theme Wink

What fixes this problem: right click inside any flash application, choose settings, and disabling hardware acceleration.

No I tried that and it didnt work.

4373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Namecoin miners, stand up and be counted! on: June 15, 2011, 11:58:25 PM
Still got an issue here whether I mine using namecoind.exe or guiminer (with phoenix), in that as soon as it starts hashing (using the CPU) my GPU hashing drops markedly. Think I'll stick with bitcoin mining for now Smiley

I've actually noticed 'problems communicating with rpc server' quite often in the console while mining but the hash rate often seems to be unaffected?
4375  Other / Off-topic / Re: And Jack and his mother were very poor.. on: June 15, 2011, 10:38:35 PM
really good story.

ty

So Jack took the coins and returned home to his mother. When she saw him she asked "ok so where's my fiat coins Jack?" To which Jack replied, "I don't have fiat money mum but I do have these magical Bitcoins!" But Jack's mum was very angry. She took the coins and threw them on MtGox. Later that day many other people heard of these magical Bitcoins and interest grew. "What did these Bitcoins do they asked?"

Meanwhile..the bitcoins began to multiply as if by magic!

4377  Other / Off-topic / And Jack and his mother were very poor.. on: June 15, 2011, 09:06:22 PM
So one day Jack's mum said to Jack "take the cow to market and see what you can sell her for so we can eat"..so off Jack went...

And along the way an old man named Satoshi popped out from behind a tree. He smiled at Jack and said 'thats a fine looking cow you have there, how about I give you some Bitcoins for her?" But Jack said "oh no I cant sell you the cow for some measly old Bitcoins..my mum told me to sell her for fiat currency". Then the old man said "Ah but these aren't ordinary currency Jack - their magic coins!"

Hey Jine,

Will we have the option at some stage to be able to transfer coins into our Bitcoin.lc accounts for buy/sell purposes?
