3363  Economy / Speculation / Re: Next chapter in the life of Bitcoin? on: August 11, 2011, 01:04:37 PM
Ok the poll's closed and it looks like the mood is still slightly bearish.

The general consensus is that a pump will be the next chapter in the life of Bitcoin with a good proportion of voters expecting a dump shortly after. However a good proportion of voters are leaning towards a possible dump without the pump also, so I guess we can safely conclude that the next chapter of Bitcoin will include a dump in one form or another.

Let the games begin!  Grin

'Rome wasn't built in a day' and Im sure a few workers had bricks fall on their heads during its construction.

All I will say is in life a lot of things work out for the better if you think they will. If you think they won't then they won't (at least not for you).

My suggestion is rather than dwelling on the negative aspects of Bitcoin spend a bit of time in some of the other forums looking at what is in development. Nothing in life is perfect.

Yea I watched a 10 min 'leaked' alpha video on the net (not that I agree it should have been leaked) and was just blown away with it. The more I see of this game the more I bone up. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing some more jet footage (I've only seen the 2 seconds of footage released by DICE so far).
3366  Economy / Speculation / Re: Looks like the market manipulator is back. But for how long? on: August 11, 2011, 03:21:18 AM

A price drop will not bring consolidation, quite the opposite. When the price becomes attractive enough, one big player will typically drop enough money to buy several thousand BTC at once.

Of course. IMO at some stage the price will turn around but that won't be before it drops low enough to guarantee a return.

Not true. They may just recognize how shallow this market is, and how easy it would be to push it in one direction or the other, given a modest amount (in USD) of Bitcoins, by market standards.

+1

Not sure why this 'play' is invisible to so many people...

Vault 101... just so I could get a Pip-Boy  Grin

Do you think you could mine with that?
3368  Economy / Speculation / Re: Entertainment on: August 11, 2011, 02:24:05 AM
I have to wonder what the large buyer's intentions were.  Create a buying wave of higher prices to later sell into?

I think he essentially took a gamble that there were a lot of other buyers waiting for a rally and he simply didnt get the support he expected.

Back to the long slow slide it seems...

Check hibernations not enabled and check your 'wake on' settings in the BIOS

Be gone thy wothless sod - thou are not worthy of thy pumping

Time for a dump
3373  Economy / Speculation / Re: What effect on the price will have the bitcoin conference next week? on: August 10, 2011, 10:29:56 PM
Looks like old miner wants to pick up some extra coins before the run up.

3374  Economy / Speculation / Re: What effect on the price will have the bitcoin conference next week? on: August 10, 2011, 08:28:46 PM
I think the conference will be beneficial for Bitcoin but no investor in his right mind is going to invest in Bitcoin when he sees its value is falling and has been falling steadily for several months. That's not to say they wont invest once the value starts to rise again. To say we're going to have this conference and suddenly millions of $$ are going to be dropped into Bitcoin is just pure fantasy and wishful thinking. Its all about momentum and no-one's going to bother getting on a merry go round thats coming to a stop.
3375  Economy / Speculation / Re: Looks like the market manipulator is back. But for how long? on: August 10, 2011, 07:58:38 PM
The weekend is coming and so is another price drop. I said before I suspect we will hit several plateaus on the way down to a new low. This time I think we will go below $6.

I also agree Bitcoin is currently overvalued. It needs to consolidate in the low single digits, the wealth needs to be redistributed so everyone currently holding Bitcoins is able to hold a sizeable portion of them, as the Bitcoin community infrastructure continues to develop and expand. Only then will Bitcoin's value be realised and we will see rallies unlike anything we have seen so far as we hit all new all-time highs.

3378  Economy / Speculation / Next chapter in the life of Bitcoin? on: August 10, 2011, 10:48:41 AM
Ok seems we're at a bit of a crossroad in history with Bitcoin right atm with a fairly recent high of $32, a recent low of $6, and a current value of $10. BTC price was in freefall only a few days ago but it seems to have had a reprieve..but where to from here?

Though I believe in the longer term Bitcoin has a positive future, the question remains as to whether it has yet reached its record low since its high of $32? Are we at a plateau before another drop down or another step up? The next chapter in the life of Bitcoin is due to open shortly, but the question on everyone's lips is : -

Whats it gonna be next for Bitcoin? Which way will the worm turn?

A Dump?

A Pump?

Or a Pump 'n Dump double whammy?

Lets have a poll and see what the general consensus is around here.

3379  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Golden Age of Mining on: August 10, 2011, 06:21:56 AM
but those periods, while you could mine hundreds of Bitcoins per day on a Core2Duo, weren't nearly as profitable as they are today even with the recent diminished exchange rate.

They were if you hoarded your coins IMO
3380  Economy / Speculation / Re: Alternative Indications of Price Trends on: August 10, 2011, 06:19:50 AM
Yea a bit contradictory of late I must say...
