oh 21? I thought it was like 5 rows of 7 or 8 devices.

according to bitshopper...

"The power consumption in max. efficiency mode (~4,5 MH/s) will be around 5 W. Clock rate (500 MHz up to ~ 1 GHz) und Core Voltage can be adjusted."

that will be near 100W which is what 1 GPU uses?

so that's profit on the electrical side of this mining story which is good Smiley

No, just 3 rows of 7. I tried to fit 4 rows of 7, but the hub couldn't provide enough power to all of them.

What temp should the fans come on? So far I havent seen it spin up yet.

Yes fan should start as soon as you plug in. DONT run these if the fan is not running. Make sure you plugged in cable correct and it’s plugged in all the way into the port.

I found that some of the fans were screwed on too tight. If your fans don't start, try to loosen the screws just a tiny bit.
443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FutureBit Moonlander 2: The Most Powerful and Efficient USB Stick Miner! on: November 26, 2017, 03:42:59 PM
is that near 150MH that you get with that?

is that much compared to overpriced and power sucking GPUs?

Each of these runs about 3.3 Mh/s at stock, so for the 21, I'm getting around 70 Mh/s. Each stick runs about

A 1080ti would get 890/khs for scrypt, so it equal to a rig of 78 Tis.

Note that I also have some L3+ running which are about the same efficiency.

I haven't measured the power consumption on these. My 21 port hub is powered by an 800 watt corsair PSU.

These are working great so far!

Nice! How many do you have on that hub?? Also keep an eye on temps with that many close together.

I have 21 on the eyeboot hub - also have a fan blowing on them for some cooling. Just testing them really, most of my order was for my friends who are just getting into this.

Do you know how to set up minera wirelessly? I couldn't find very detailed instructions online anywhere. Thanks!

Minera's support thread  has directions to do it.

448  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Ebit e9 miner with 6.8Th/s from Ebang company a new rival for existing producers on: November 25, 2017, 05:02:21 PM

I constructed a remote way to change the root password for the E9 +, No Cables, besides a power cable and network cable just plug it in to the network. Once executed just type passwd and change the root login passwd. Attached are my mods to secure your miners and get 12-13 th/s on them.  If you want the tool chain to cross compile your own cgminer use http://www.wiki.xilinx.com/Install+Xilinx+Tools
/opt/Xilinx/SDK/2017.3/gnu/armr5/lin/gcc-arm-none-eabi/bin/
For compiling your own stuff.
www.zedboard.org
Has dev boards that are the same as the controller in the miners.

Did you change the controller on yours, or did you just use something like a bootloader to bypass theirs? I looked at Zedboard and none of their boards have the same pin layout as the eBit I have.

For example, none have a fan port.
449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: FutureBit Moonlander 2 USB Hubs Thread on: November 24, 2017, 05:36:53 PM

This makes my brain hurt.

$60 USB stick that makes $3/month.

$165 hub to run them.

20 Sticks = $1200

USB hub = $165

Monthly Profit $60

You are looking at a 2 year ROI if LTC price keeps rising a bunch.

Or For a similar investment you can buy an L3+ and ROI in 4 months

Why would anyone buy this junk?

I have some friends who have ordered a bunch who want to mine, but don't have a space where they can run a full sized industrial miner.
450  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25+PH] KanoPool kano.is NO FEE TIL 2018 PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,NL,NYA 🐈 on: November 24, 2017, 03:27:49 PM

I have a question for anyone willing to share.  According to the US Tax Authorities, blocks should be reported as income when they are earned or when they are paid (your choice as long as it is consistent).  Although this obviously is hard for anyone to track, but I am going to report this to reduce the chance of issues with my other crypto investments that is harder to report (little piggy is cute / big piggies get slaughtered).

As part of that, I am building in historical prices so any of us can import rewards and the system will give you the US dollar (tether) value based on the average price for the day it was found.  Going forward, it will have up to the minute BTC prices.  I am going to build in international currency tables as well and would like to know which currencies people have interest in and how far back I should go.  I have a data source that will give daily values for 166 currencies going forward.  I have another with history for 2017 for these currencies: AUD, BRL, CAD, CNY, EUR, HKD, INR, IDR, JPY, MYR, MXN, NZD, NOK, PEN, RUB, SAR, SGD, ZAR, KRW, SEK, CHF, TWD, THB, TRY, GBP, USD, VND.

First off, is anyone interested in this at all?  Secondly, would you like a currency other than these?  Third, does anyone need this data before 2017?

I’d love something like that for BTC and LTC
451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / FutureBit Moonlander 2 USB Hubs Thread on: November 24, 2017, 03:14:18 PM
Figured I'd start a thread for these.

First, the best resource possible is Sidehack's USB hub thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1779423.0

Things to look for on the hub:
  • Provides at least 1amp per port
  • Has a way to hook up to your Pi/PC (this is sometimes described as  "Sync" not just charging)

Here's my learnings from playing with those that also apply to the Moonlander.

Budget Hub for 3 or fewer Moonlanders

Pluggable USB hub - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L2LK164

These have 3 voltage regulators that are shared by the ports next to each other, so you can only run at max 3 of the Moonlanders. Put one on port 1, port 4, and port 7.

Hub for 3-10 Moonlanders

Sipolar 20 Port - https://www.amazon.com/Sipolar-Industrial-Charger-Refurbish-Cellphone/dp/B01KPOEX9O

This hub can power up to 12 moonlanders, due to the size of the fan. It has two USB 3 ports to connect to your PC or Pi, so be sure you plan that. Some people reported having trouble getting the Pi to recognize it, but if you have this issue, plugging the USB3 from this into a cheap USB hub (like an Amazon basics 4 port USB2 hub) and then that into the Pi works.

Other hub:
Eyeboot 19 Port 40amp - https://www.eyeboot.com/19-port-40a-usb3-hub.html

Hub for 10+ Moonlanders

Eyeboot 49 Port - https://www.amazon.com/Eyeboot-Port-USB-110v-220v/dp/B00JCA4ARS or https://www.eyeboot.com/49-port-usb-hub-60a-power-supply.html

This bad boy can give 1amp to 21 Moonlanders. It is expensive but high quality, and will run a ton of Moonlanders. Note that you need an external ATX power supply for this.

Anyone in the US, any hints on what hubs can be found for under $100 to work with a few of these?  Cool

I made a thread here for hubs: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2455609.new#new

From where do you suggest i should order? Is eastshore a safe shop?

Order straight from Ebit. I've bought miners from Eastshore and they've arrived, but it's always better to order straight from the company who makes miners
454  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Ebit e9 miner with 6.8Th/s from Ebang company a new rival for existing producers on: November 23, 2017, 08:20:33 PM
So based on everyone experience untill now...is this miner worth the money or not? I dont know if i should order it or not.

It does what its advertised to do, but if something breaks, you're going to have a tough time. I'd get an Avalon over this one. Even Bitmain has better post-sales support.
455  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: November 22, 2017, 05:40:57 PM
Some are telling me on Reddit they are just getting their Nov. 21-30 batch orders. Means they shipped out earlier without me. Sad. I wonder how you get priority or do they randomize. I ordered pretty quickly.

Still shows unshipped for my 11/21-11/30 S9s - some people might get lucky, I guess.

But i am not sure how they can change the speed in the dashboard that shows 16TH/S...

They can easily have a screen shot of slushpool or a copy of the site. You notice that the slush screen never refreshes?
458  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: November 22, 2017, 02:11:13 PM
Often when a stick goes Zombie, I've needed to pull it out of the USB hub and press it back in. A restart doesn't fix it for me.

This devices turns off the USB HUB and makes the ASIC power off. Why wouldn't what I say work? It is like unplugging and plugging back in.

If you read back a few pages, Sidehack says the sticks have a regulator on them. If that is tripped, the only thing you can do is unplug it to reset it. Now turning off the USB hub might also do that (try it), but if you just restart the controller (the Pi), it definitely won't reset them.

You only get paid on any pool when it hits a block. Kano has only hit one this week, so far.

If you want more frequent blocks, you goto a bigger pool, but your reward will be lower.

If you are running into ZOMBIE 2pac, try a power timer on/off switch. I'm going to try it and have it power the hub on & off every hour. The laptop stays on, but this means at most ZOMBIE will at most one hour unless my MacBook Pro has a cgminer segmentation fault which does happen.
