443  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: January 29, 2014, 03:16:28 PM
FAN HELP...thanks

I am having issues on 3 of 6 ANTMINERS received in this last order with what seems like bad/dead fans....

so on one unit the Antminer was running perfect, other than this unit had a particularly louder than usual fan for one of these rigs, the it stop running and of course the unit stopped mining and started beeping (awesome safety feature). So I thought bad fan, wrong, run good when testing it on the 2nd FAN PWN connection on a running unit...
so then I though bad power supply, wrong....

test a known good antminer, and it power up and mined perfectly....
then I started test the unit and found out by accident that just as I disconnected the fan it moved...I saw that and started messing with the plug and got the fan to work....Somehow if I shove the fan connect all the way down it won't work....I thought it was a bad/bent pin, wrong, then I thought a bad pin in the fan connector, wrong again...If I dangle the fan connector just right, it will run and the rig will mine, but if falls or is not a good connection or I shove it all the way down, no fan = no mining

same for the next 2 units. EXCEPT 1 unit did run with the fan connector all the way down and I could see the FAN RPM's in the web browser, but now I cannot. While it did run, unit 1 did have a weird burning smell....so I am concluding that these are not the same fans that came in earlier batches....and that maybe the speed sensor/control on the fan has burned out...and that was the burning smell....
and the fan works when I dangle/connect it just slightly to give power but not to the sensor???

thoughts, suggestions fixes ideas are welcome. I am ordering some new fans which are not as easy to find as some say, I did order one before and it was the right dimension, slightly wrong connector and pinned out wrong ( i had to swap the pins around in the fan).

thanks,
sbfree

ps. these 3 units are currently running, but I can't see fan RPM's nor can I shove the connectors all the way down or fan stops as soon as  I try to do that.

is 500 U1s a good deal at 22btc?

what are these sold for individually?

seems only 1 coupon per order..

also wrt xxxxxxx's - both rigs are between 175 & 185.  i found adding a fan on the back blowing in adds about 5-10 Gh (not OC'd)

thx all
I thought the rear fan was supposed to be an exhaust....hmmm but hey if it works and make more power sweet....

btw, speaking of fans...I am having issues on 3 of 6 ANTMINERS received in this last order with what seems like bad/dead fans....

i read recently that asics showing as
xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx

didnt make any difference, i have one showing this and mining very similarly to its sister with all o's

nothing to worry about??

edgar, my 2 cents, and I have and have had a few, and some run perfectly but show all x's...if thats the case it's probably software glitch...I usually don't anymore, but a reboot def. makes it go away ( for a while). maybe a firmware update, but I am not risking it.

I haven't had a bad unit with bad chips, but if it nowhere near 180GH/s, then that is a prob. for sure....

and is anyone dedicating their miners to work on alt coins,  then converting to bitcoins
considering difficulty of bitcoin, i thought that might be the best thing but no one here seems to be doing that.  Would appreciate the advise
that what i am dong
and i have been doing for the last 2 weeks

Hi pjcltd and thanks again for helping me out when I was setting up my miner Smiley

I also have this question as to if its better to mine altcoins rather than bitcoins directly.

I have tried mining UNO but had better results in 24 hours by mining btc directly.

I am currently mining btc but I would love to know if I could increase my daily earnings a bit Smiley

Care to share some thoughts?

Thanks Wink

just to throw my 2cents....and i haven't done hard cold figures...but am mining btc and peercoin and litecoin. obviously you are interested in a btc alternative...and a more profitable one at that....not sure if there is one...but peercoin seems like a logical bet only because in my non educated opinion it seems harder to go from $1000/btc to $3000/btc or 3 times the money than for peercoin to go from $6 do $18....and peercoin has the benefit of being the no. 2 sha256 coin so when all the ASICs that can't keep up with bitcoin will have to go somewhere, and I don't think it will be the trash....so they'll go mine another sha256 coin....I think it will be PEERCOIN.

so ive gone through the setup process, seems everything was successful.

in miner setup, I entered a p2pool address for pool1, and used my bitcoin address as the worke1 name, with some password.

how does do I actually initiate the mining process?

When you hit the SAVE&APPLY.  It will update your settings and restart the miner and start mining away.  If it does not, recheck your pool configuration.

I have noticed that even though everything is correct, you sometimes have to hit save and apply twice before it will actually start mining....not sure if it a particular firmware...but have noticed it on more than one unit....
450  Economy / Marketplace / Re: FREE 240 Gh Hashing when ordering a KnC Neptune on: January 28, 2014, 11:24:33 AM
I am certain this was a scam from the beginning.
The link where you can track each reseller sales also does not work anymore: http://reseller.kncminer.com/orders
And I just got a reply from KNC that: We do not change reseller IDs connected to the orders any longer.
How convenient.

We should all press KNC to remove his reseller status and his awards. I will organize this later on as we have plenty of time until Neptunes start shipping anyway.
well hope wesly wasn't out to game us, but it is certainly starting to look that way. And what proof do we have that he is or isn't legit...none....I fell for his ebay claim but now that I look at it he isn't even selling anything...bet he sells some neptunes pretty soon.

wesly, your last chance to rectify this.....otherwise I am all for letting knc know we want out of this deal.....to knc's benefit anyway since they won't have to give away some free miners, and I know most if not all here would be interested in another unit....so
wesly time is running out.....

LOL Can someone please TL;DR for the rest of us

CTS offered 5 T miners.

They said they fabbed 20nm chips in house

everyone laughed

phoenix and maui said they had checked them out and believed them to be legit

phoenix and maui posted lots of reasons why they were legit

everyone continued to laugh about 20nm chips being fabbed in house

phoenix and maui said they were so sure they were legit they lay down around 60BTC between them on machines

everyone said, to be so gullible you must be in on the scam, why were you so keen to prove they were legit

phoenix and maui said oh fuck we've been robbed

some people said no you haven't you are the robbers

some people said. I know phoenix and maui and they ain't no robbers homeboy

some people said yes they are, look at the shifty behaviour on this thread

people got upset, people called each other names.

The only thing 100% here is that CTS were a blatant scam from the start, phoenix and maui definitely moved some BTC to the address on the site

some of the funds sent to the address on the site were spent on Ant S1 from Sushi.

Everything else is supposition.
has anyone contacted sushi then, MAYBE he can help save the phoenix some feathers

beastlymac, I am in for 20 of these....thanks.

BTW, when do you plan to have these in hand and ship out to us? do you paypal? bitcoin? litecoin?
aw man, i didn't see that....kind of confusing I think....shouldn't it have been

10-20: $89                         10-20: $89
21+ $85                   vs.      20+ $85

I guess I saw only what i wanted to see, add one more for me if that is the case beastlymac, otherwise 20 will suffice for now, thanks.
beastlymac, think I am going to have to retract my reservation for these 20/21 units...I am in the USA and it doesn't make sense for me to place an order for these. my apologies.

457  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 open for sale again] The last round before the Chinese New Year on: January 28, 2014, 12:57:35 AM
Interesting thing - the latest 1.9BTC miner I received has 29080 kB RAM , the earlier units report 61568 kB
is it hashing normally...will have to check them if and when I get mine.

Guys, what do you think is a realistic price on the master controller board with the beaglebone?
A friend of mine bought a miner from phoenix some time ago and Phoenix gave a 2nd controller board for free, which my friend lend out to me to use with my 4 upgrade modules I bought from KNC.

Now he wants to sell it and is offering me to buy it, but because I plan on selling the miner soon I wonder:
should I buy the board from him to keep the miner complete and sell it as it is?
or give it back to him and sell it as Upgrade modules only?

I wonder what a fair price is? It's a very hard to find component, yet is it unknown if anyone actually needs it at the moment.
Is $1000 a realistic price?

I bought a Saturn with no ASICs for $600 on eBay. He had 2 Saturns, and combined them to a Jupiter, so I got the case, controller board and BBB.

Can you link me the auction please. Thank you.
cyper, he already won the auction, UNLESS of course you don't believe him.

I have thought about the same, but looks like last merc. sold for too much, so still looking.

I got the same tracking # for 2 separate orders, made on 2014-01-21 and 2014-01-22.
All arrived today, as 2 separate shipments, under 2 separate trackings.
As I suspected, they mistakenly provided same tracking for my 2nd order, which has happened to me before.

Bottom line is, Bitmain may not be always accurate with tracking numbers, but they always ship on time !

Great service, Bitmain !
you are right about that, and it has happened before too, where they send same tracking info. for 2 different orders, and yet both orders are correctly filled. So BITMAIN, if you are listening, good job. I am just a little impatient is all.
460  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 open for sale again] The last round before the Chinese New Year on: January 27, 2014, 08:13:40 PM
All units shipped out today. Wish everyone a Happy New Year  Grin

bitmain, any chance you guys figure out my correct tracking info....thanks.
