6 month ROI is not good.  You guys and all suppliers need to lower prices by at least 50%

If difficulty stands still at todays exchange rates ROI is around 8 months. With the obvious increase in difficulty coming from these miners (look at it since January) realistic ROI is up to a year. At which point the market should be flooded with ASICs in the 100 to 250 MH/s range.

For this to pay off at current prices we will need LTC value to substantially increase. Like 2 or 3x from where it is.

Good notes and graph Smiley

looks like the way to go is save for the Titan

How does this pool compare to trademybit?
448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MULTI][VARDIFF] Pool|TradeMyBit - 0.5% Prop/Profit Swap/Auto-Exch on: March 28, 2014, 01:40:02 PM
I tried it for a week, it does pay out higher than the average of the top coins on coinwarz, not by much, but a little.  You have to figure too that if mining a single coin it won't always be on top.  So actually benefit of using this pool is pretty decent.  This is a very good multipool.  I used auto exchange which is a fantastic feature, no fuss, and pays you in BTC every night.  You have to give your miners a good 3 days 24/7 to finally get a good idea of the estimated BTC you will be making.  Because the estimate it gives you keeps going up and up during that time.  I was mining regular scrypt.

When first starting you might not get paid the first day or two, but when you do get paid you'll of course get paid for all that time, and then you'll get paid every 24 hours +/-.

I have since switched to only mining X11 coins since the power draw is half, which means significantly lower temps, less heat, lower fan speed, much lower noise, more cards per breaker, longer card life, etc.  Much better than even scrypt jane or adaptive n.  If I wasn't doing X11 I'd be mining at this pool.  It's nice to just leave it mining and know it's doing good without having the headache of constantly watching coin profitability orders.  Other than mining brand new coins that aren't yet exchanged, this is a good way to go guys for daily profit without waiting.

If they implement X11 coins then I will come back.

Just seen people dumped to 0.00000012 overnight!?..

If anyone is considering selling this low please let me know!

It even hit 6 satoshi on Cryptsy.  I was pissed my BTC didn't transfer in time to grab a bunch at those prices.

It's a great deal to buy even right now, but 6-15 is like Christmas Cheesy
450  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why I say X11 and SHA3 are not ASIC resistent ? on: March 28, 2014, 12:44:21 PM
It's possible to create an ASIC for every algo but for now 1 thing is sure: there are ASIC's coming for scrypt and they will move the GPU miners away from scryptcoins into new algo's.
The same happened to SHA256D coins, like Bitcoin.

I don't expect an X11 ASIC very soon so it will be the profit algo of 2014. And that's what miners care about: profit.

I'm on board.  My GPUs will only use X11 for a while now.  Half power, way cooler temps, less noise. awesome this is great Cheesy

Does anyone know what time it will be listed on cryptsy GMT time would be great!
Thanks

hard to say, I've seen them list at 8am and other times at midnight.  best is to set a twitter alert from bigvern on your phone. @cryptsy & @cryptsyken

454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Future of Scrypt? on: March 27, 2014, 10:18:34 PM
The only reason miners profit on new garbage coins is by scamming idiots into paying good money for them.

Thus the mining becomes a scam.

The original poster makes it clear it is all about scamming money out of people, not about providing a secure blockchain.

So this thread is basically about how best to scam people, not about making a secure currency at all.

Miners are an evil best avoided entirely. For proof of work blockchains they are unfortunately necessary.

Mining is intended by design to tend toward no profit.

Only the most efficient generators of electricity should be able to afford to mine, if others can then the market is screwed up, it has not reached efficiency.

This thread basically proposes deliberate creation of deliberately inefficient markets so as to scam money from consumers by profiting from the deliberate inefficiency of the proposed markets.

Basically the plan is efficient markets advantage consumers so lets say screw market efficiency and create yet another new market deliberately designed to at least temporarily be inefficient so we can at least temporarily screw the consumers, scamming them into paying for the deliberate inefficiency of the markets we create...

-MarkM-

It figures only a pure jackass would reply to this thread.

It has nothing to do scamming you incompetent asshole.

Fucking dicks.

This thread is about mining algorithms and the future of them.  Where do you see scamming?

forget it.  I already know what I need to know.  Just thought this would be an interesting discussion.
455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / The Future of Scrypt? on: March 27, 2014, 05:03:12 PM
Now that we have X11 it seems pointless to GPU mine scrypt coins when X11 uses half the power draw, has a faster hashrate, and significantly lower temps.  It's amazing I've been able to turn my GPU fans down to 45% from 100%, it's so much quieter and we can also run twice as many GPUs per breaker and per PSU.

The only benefit to scrypt coins are the Scrypt ASICs.  Small scrypt ASICs are here and large ones are around the corner.

So with those things being said what are your guy's predictions of altcoin futures down the road.  Less and less scrypt coins being made?  More X11 seems like a given.  Will ASICs even be worth it if scrypt coins are going to be squeezed out?  Sure scrypt will still be made for this reason.  But will it be like SHA-256 is today, where every SHA-256 coin's profitability constantly hovers around Bitcoin which is forever decreasing less and less.  Will all scrypts then hover around Litecoin with a constant downward trend?

Thoughts, ideas, words of wisdom, etc.  Post them here

Why do I get these errors

./sgminer: --gpu-engine: unrecognized option
./sgminer: --gpu-memclock: unrecognized option

also if i remove those commands it works, but fan speed and temps are blank

I'm using a config file instead and everything loads, but I don't think it's controlling gpu-engine and memclock, those settings also don't show up when I press G and why are FAN speed and temps completely blanked out?
because you didn't add the adl files before you built it
open the ADL_SDK folder and read the readme.txt

ahhh you're right on!  thanks man Cheesy everything works perfect now
