Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Bitcoin farm in PC case? Anyone done it yet?

Okay, I'm getting the impression that no one has made a USB mining farm inside of a PC case so it's hidden from unknowing eyes with optimal air flow.. and since we're off topic today, what's the deal with video cards? Why does everyone use these ATI 5830 or 5870 video cards? These things are hundreds of dollars and don't perform nearly as fast as one of the Bitmain U2 AntMiners, Any reason there are so many builds like this and none that I've been able to find like what I'm thinking of?
Those were the cards people used a few years ago. R9 cards are what people use now and they are more profitable than USB miners because they mine scrypt coins which produce a steady consistent stream of income unlike bitcoin mining.

My farm of GPUs has been converted to an X11 only setup. Clocks, voltages, and even number of cards per breaker have been changed to maximize X11 mining potential, that said I can no longer mine regular scrypt coins because of such. My point of this post is to encourage coin developers to start making more X11 coins and hey even change your current algos if you wish. I am sure there are many out there like myself and many more to come. That said I am still a supporter of scrypt coins, just not until Titan comes out. And my GPUs will only ever see X11. It's been a little while now so I know all of you regulars are aware, but for the other people who aren't yet aware X11 is a new mining algorithm that uses about 50% less power draw. Which equates to significantly lower temperatures, much lower fan speeds, less noise, less heat, longer card life, and more cards per breaker and or less power bill. FanFuckingTastic. Here is the thread for more info. Much love and respect for all those involved in creating this aglo. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=475795.0All those in favor of whatever, speak your words to keep this thread alive so more and more developers get the chance to see it. Cheers *************** It is only self moderated to delete troll posts of negativity as I have no patience for that crap. Productive posts need only apply.

With the current drop in BTC price are these miners even profitable right now? I think there would have to be a big price drop to help reduce the ROI. There was one supplier that was selling for $175 US currently but think it would have to come down much more and hash power will have to increase. Still holding off on amy purchase until new higher power miners come out.
Agreed. I would consider buying at $85 each or 3k per 40. Maybe $2500 per 40 and they've got themselves a deal. You guys have made good product and good cash is worth your efforts, unfortunately the markets just suck right now and the long ROI period just isn't worth it from a buying stand point. At this point, nobody should be buying these little 300KH/s gridseeds, anymore...they will never see a ROI. The window of time before the large-scale ASIC mining hardware rolls out is not long enough and the market price of coins is too low. Basically, if you weren't in a month or two ago, you shouldn't get into anything but a pre-order on the larger hardware. The same thing is poised to happen here that happened in Bitcoin. History is going to repeat. Also if someone could actually stop the release of new Alt coins on a almost daily basis the value of the current ones would actually start to rise. I do not know who originally had the code or how people come up with the coin and the algo to do this but with the almost weekly releases I do not expect the market to go anywhere but down due to the flood of new coins. Please someone stop the madness as the new mining rigs will not be viable and the ROI will be a very long time line! New alt coins will always be coming out, there is no stopping it. Even if they are banned from the forum, there are already other forums dedicated to alts that are on the rise. That being said, I am a supporter of new coins as fresh coins with the lowest difficulty offer the most profit potential.

Agreed, my money is going to knc for titan Though for a low enough price with say an ROI of a month or so I would buy in just to increase daily/weekly/monthly revenue stream until Titans come out.

Thank god for Dogecoin. I took the loss and managed to get everything out in time. And now they are down. Had previously tried LTC, but I guess they shut that down too as it wasn't working. Dogecoin is a good investment anyway, I just would have preferred to do more trading in the meantime with those coins before buying in and at the lower price of course. But it's all good. I would have loved to do more of the batcoins but 1 sat orders weren't getting filled and 2 sat is a big gamble atm.

Please look at this transaction and fix. I sent coins yesterday and they are still 0 confirms
Status: 0/unconfirmed Date: 3/30/2014 20:10 To: mintpal HMmEP9kdYXikNWCxMKiPbGhEgkFtMmSVUp Debit: -1200.00 HIC Transaction fee: -0.01 HIC Net amount: -1200.01 HIC Transaction ID: dbc65e9bc3aab600c1b7b9727def21986bc4172751d0dc4c504b515c8f726146
I've since raised my transaction fee, regardless these coins are stuck and need to be fixed.
I'm guessing that you have closed and reopen the client a few times? If all else fails you can import the private key for the sending address into a new wallet.dat file. It should import without the transaction and allow you to send the funds again. PM me and I can step you through the process. Thanks for the tip and fixing. All 6 confirms came through. Yes I opened and closed it a few times, I didn't know that would have a negative effect.
