I always get this when I try compiling. Any tips?
URCE=2 -MMD -MF obj/init.d -o obj/init.o init.cpp g++: internal compiler error: Killed (program cc1plus) Please submit a full bug report, with preprocessed source if appropriate. See <file:///usr/share/doc/gcc-4.7/README.Bugs> for instructions. make: *** [obj/init.o] Error 4
Addressed earlier: need to build on a larger instance or remove the -O2 flag in makefile.unix. I deleted -O2, but run into the same error still. Anyone want to put up a dropbox link to a primecoind? The direct link to a precompiled binary in a previous post is no longer working. It is not dropbox, but https://app.box.com/s/nz9wwv5sgizrnosnu7nx

I think there's something funny with the quoting script because now it looks like someone else said what I just posted--the bit about being always right and not understanding how a pump works.
As you said you got misattributed in what you say now misattributed again, I would bet that nothing funny is going on with the quote function, but that what is being quoted has unbalanced quote tags from someone's edit.

The new version fixes the thrashing problem completely for me. However, I have yet to be able to get a good block download with it, it usually stalls in the low 100,000s and then I wind up having to kill the process in task manager, and the db is corrupt. I am wondering if by providing the premade block chain download this code is not getting tested as much as it should in the field?

Can we get the windows Mac-Qt build?
Fixed that for you You mean in general? Or with this patch? Which just seem to add the overhead of checking a timer for each loop, and abort earlier.. maybe a better approach would be to have a limit n, check the time it takes for n at the end and raise or lower n for the next time? Oh, and a mac build of the original code if you meant that. http://dls.21stcenturymoneytalk.org/dls/primecoin/Primecoin-Qt-osx.zip

Well, each time i encrypt my devcoin wallet i am unable to open the client on my mac... Already deleted all files and backed up my wallet from my cold storage, it just not working sigh*
I dont know where the problem comes from, it launches but at a point it stops working, like if it cannot open the wallet
Imagine users get that problem and dont have a backup for their wallet file... Happily i do.
I get this error : EXCEPTION: NSt8ios_base7failureE CDataStream::read() : end of data bitcoin in AppInit()
I can't duplicate this. Can you put at least the last 20 or so lines of debug.log at a pastbin site or something, and send me a pm with the link. Also exactly what version of the OS you are running and anything else like settings you have changes from the defaults that may help reproduce it.

is there a way to optimize anything through windows?
I did a win64 build, did not make much of a difference on my older laptop cpu. I could post it up if there is demand for it.

I'll put up one Bitcoin in bounty for a CPU-miner (standalone) that will run on both windows and linux and outperform the built-in miner.
Recompile the existing one with some more optimization flags or with the ICC compiler. Anyone compiled a win64 optimized binary yet? Yeah, at least going by primespersec figures, it did not give the boost that it did for scrypt.

btc to fiat only? BTC to fiat transactions are and always will be the most important in the ecosystem. The primary value of any exchange is how well it can facilitate these transactions and manage the legal, regulatory, technological and social aspects of fiat exchange. It's simply a monstrously difficult task, which is why so many exchanges have failed or haven't meet community expectations. If enough places accept digital currencies directly this statement will be false. It is a pretty bold statement. and probably myopic to speak of 'always' as an absolute. The primary value of a fiat to digital currency exchange is as you say. You are of course by definition wrong for other types or other focused exchanges. In fact, it is partially due to this being a monstrous task that other types of exchanges are desirable when the overhead of those tasks is not desired. Especially the absurd kyc requirements that have every tom dick and harry business keeping copies of IDs, and asking the same stupid verification questions. So a break in to any of these leaks enough information to use your identfy elsewhere. Think it is a coincidence we have a rise in identity theft with the rise in kyc laws? Also the other challenge is the nature of all the required partnerships a successful exchange must have. These include banks, law firms, regulatory agencies, other exchanges and businesses requiring liquidity in their business models. If a partner fails, it can cascade to the customers of an exchange causing delays or loss of funds. Then there is the issue of bad actors who use DDOS attacks alongside other tools to manipulate the markets to their own ends.
You are making my points for me. The high overhead and additional risks create a demand for other types of exchanges when you do not need to take on these risks. In short, entering this business isn't easy and it requires a thick skin as well as a tolerance for failure. Vircurex hasn't developed as nor is prepared to be a legitimate player in the crypto-currency to fiat market.
I actually hope it stays that way. I would prefer to see more exchanges that do not offer fiat as an option.

Yeah, it is just using http or https as the transport, so curl works just fine for it. Alternatively, I have https://github.com/mikegogulski/bitcoin-php bookmarked to try if I ever wind up needing to do what you want to do, to save me some time rolling my own. Do you know where I could find an example of an http transport? or a curl example? I don't get how I can transport anything over curl or http when it is on the same server... that would be talking to itself. What address? 127.1.1.1? What port? How is Bitcoin even already active listening on that port? I believe I am lost. yes, http://localhost:xxxx or http://127.0.0.1:xxxx, bitcoin is listening if you run it with -server and/or -daemon. I dont recall the default port number of hand, but it is in the wiki or source code. You can also set it in bitcoin.conf with rpcport=1234

Get jsonrpcclient. Connect to bitcoind RPC. The data is automatically decoded.
I recommend against this for three reasons. Firstly, unpatched, it can display your login information on errors. Secondly, it does not work with php 5.4 Thirdly, it is GPLed so anything you make using it has to be GPLed as well.

Irrelevant to them being public trade already though. In addition vircurex mostly specializing in coin2coin trades, what is being measured in the link you posted? btc to fiat only?

So what do we want him to do? Connect to more nodes?

I have a question: where can I download old versions of the bitcoin-qt client? Is there some website with the entire history of the clients so I can pick the version I want? (more specifically I am looking for 0.3.25.1-beta)
Thanks
There was no qt version 0.3.25.1-beta

What does that mean? I do not know how to use JSON. I don't know what it is. Your link is in french, I changed it to English, but that is just another bit of helpfulness. In English, it still does not tell me anything about how to use JSON for a webserver of Bitcoin transactions. JSON is simply a string of data. The JSON encoding is just a way to share this data easily. You can make the test yourself. Create a PHP array, put some data in it. Use something like: $string = json_encode($array); var_dump($string); and you'll see your $array encoded in JSON. To get it back in an array format, you do: $array = json_decode($string, true); and you will have your array back. With JSON, servers can simply broadcast data in a format that any language can read and decode easily. Sorry for the french link BTW, I sometimes mix up languages. Thanks. I figured that out reading into it. Now my problem is, how do I send any data requests to my wallet to get real time data, and make transactions? curl in php? Yeah, it is just using http or https as the transport, so curl works just fine for it. Alternatively, I have https://github.com/mikegogulski/bitcoin-php bookmarked to try if I ever wind up needing to do what you want to do, to save me some time rolling my own.
