441  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: FPGA Miner Design for Sale to Someone willing to Market It on: September 18, 2011, 10:18:54 PM
Teraminer, just grab your cell phone and shoot some video of the FPGA in action. If you have one running it shouldnt take 10 minutes of your time. That should be good enough proof to assert you are not just trolling. In theory, it could still be a more elaborate hoax, but I kinda fail to see the point in anyone doing that.

I like the heat as it keeps my office in the garage warm but dear god the fans make a racket dont they. Still its free heating so I try not to moan to much as winters in the UK suck.

How do these FPGAs mesure up on the noise/heat front?

444  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: FPGA Miner Design for Sale to Someone willing to Market It on: September 18, 2011, 09:40:13 PM
Am I missing something? He isn't asking for money. The question is: if I was selling these, how many would you buy? You don't pay to answer. Besides, if you are wasting your time posting to call this a scam, you might as well give a real answer.

When he comes asking for money, you can tell him to get lost. Right now, it isn't the case.

Im going to be humble on the internets  Undecided you have a point so..

As a miner if this was actualy for sale in a polished state ready to rock and roll and not an investment scam I would certainly buy the 3000 mhash/s model.

Happy ?

Still bullshit and belive me no one wishs it wasnt the case more than me I would love somthing like this.

445  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's share tax advice related to Bitcoin! on: September 18, 2011, 09:25:35 PM
Hmmm knew I was dumb for sharing  Roll Eyes.

Anyway thats how my accountant is handling it for me.
As for not selling the coins he actualy ment just that, in the wallet and not buying or bartering with them etc.

The police and terror side of things well

446  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: FPGA Miner Design for Sale to Someone willing to Market It on: September 18, 2011, 09:09:55 PM
Untill proof is provided then your wasting everyones time.

I'm interested in FGPA as a miner however  your posting ....

Wish scammers wouldn't toy with us so.

Proof wont be coming but hey I would love to be wrong.

Email extract from my accountant in the UK.

-------------------------------------------------

Thank you for your phone call earlier today.

I did some research about Bitcoins and the way it works. Here are some very important points you should consider:

Legal point of view:
I believe Bitcoins is legal mainly in several states in the USA (not all of them). It is not officially legal in the UK. I would even add and say that it is frown upon in the UK by both HMRC and the police.

The main reason for it being frown upon is because (as you mentioned earlier) any individual can hide behind a reference number with no name, address etc… the British authorities are very concerned about this relatively new online system and here you are digging into complex rules under the crime act, money laundering and terrorism funding.

You might get a knock on your door in future from the police or other body asking you to prove that you are not funding any terrorism or crime activity. This is how serious it is.

Although there is a big potential within this concept, looking at the above points, it is my job to warn you of the complications with the law you might have.
I strongly believe that it is only a matter of time until the UK government will come up with a law against it but as you probably know these things take time.

Terribly sorry if this is not the answer you were hoping for.

Tax point of view:
As Bitcoins are not officially illegal and I can’t stop you from trading, this is how we should treat the income:

•   This is a matter of capital gains rather than normal profit and loss as you are selling items of value (investment through coins).
•   There is an annual exemption of £10,100 for an individual – this will be deducted from your profit before calculating your tax due.
•   Capital tax is calculated at 18% from the net gain (sale proceeds less costs of sales).
•   I believe that under costs of sales we will also be able to claim the electricity your computers use
•   As long as you did not sell the coins into actual cash there will be no tax implications needed.
•   You should keep records of your income as well as the costs you have incurred during the procedure of mining the coins you sold.

I think this covers pretty much everything.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Kind Regards,
448  Economy / Speculation / Re: What caused the $12.50 spike today? on: September 11, 2011, 10:42:31 PM
Back OT, the 12 spike is explained with this:

Taurus got Cancer, while Sagitarius did Virgo (who isn't any longer), a Scorpio bit Leo and Piscies are now in the Aquarius...

(or in english: The bull got crabs, while centaur did virgin (who isn't any longer), a scorpion bit the lion and the fishes are now in the fishbowl)

Do you have news letters so i can keep uptodate ?

Thx grantbdev  will add them to my list when we get a few more.

Finished 1984 and now feeling numb. The most unsettling book I have ever picked up.

Brave new world is next but I'm not sure I can handle another totalitarian setting just yet.

Suggestions ?

Which worked fine yesterday  Huh

Checked with open ID and Its only been my IP but changed my pass again anyway.

After some googlin it seems it stands for "Cross-site request forgery"

Can anyone shed some light on this?

456  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any solar powered rigs out there? I have an idea for one, check it out! on: September 01, 2011, 04:55:17 PM
Trackers are defo the way forward if you have the space.
Over here tho you have to face Planning permission for them. We're are all living ontop of each other, its really crowded so its always going on the roof  Sad
Some really cool methods of tracking out there and one day I hope to have my own farm of them (if i can find some space/money).

To keep the cost down you could always check out some of the new pannels coming outa China ( I wouldnt but then I take the long term view in these things). Perhaps make your own roof hooks or even the tracker if you have a workshop/will etc.

EDIT:

m3 wise yep its Mono>Poly>Thin film/amorphous but check out the newish shiny HIT pannels that  are a Hybrid of sorts cos their are winning hands down atm.
Some liquid cooled ones about too that also act as solar thermal for your hotwater while bringing down the pannel temp which is win win when you look at the temp co efficancys on the pannel datasheets for mono and poly cells.

Soz bout spelling etc im dyslexic and too much effort to..

Hate to say it but the paperwork is shocking. I cant see how you could do it yourself and get the feed in tariffs but if you find a way please let us know. You must use MCS approved moduals and inverters and also be MCS acredited <--- this is epic good luck Wink  or have a MCS acredited dude commision it and take responsiblity for it.

The Green energy certs are a nice little bonus but thats on top of the feed in tariffs we get in the UK. They are not the same thing they are additional and not easy to sell IMO in small quantitys to heavy industry.

Edit : er solarsilver whats stopping me buying up these certs here in the UK and selling them to you? since your subs are prob way better than here in the UK. Maybe the UK ones are not the same because we are not fully Euro ?  Not looked into this tbh.

@ BombaUcigasa  yep 150% sounds a little much. I will be aiming for around £4k per KWp thats around 100% mark up but also what MCS suggests is a fair price. I think you might be fogetting the overheads involved not to mention the labor involved (putting roof hooks in is a right bugger somtimes and involves some meaty powertools while working up on a roof. Which means horribad insurance costs also.
To be honest those roof hooks are the biggest pain in the ass. What we need is a company that makes a wide selection of solar tiles then its a simple refit...ow man how easy would that make my life...hhmmmm
458  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any solar powered rigs out there? I have an idea for one, check it out! on: August 31, 2011, 11:26:51 AM
I'm getting paid £0.44 per KWh just for producing the juice even tho I'm using every watt mining i still get paid.
What what whaaaat?!

Yep in the UK its called a feed in traiff but it really should be called  a generation tariff. Ace hey!

So any brits here want one ?

30 x Schott ASI 103
http://www.schott.com/australia/english/download/schott_asi_data_sheet_95-103_en.pdf

2 x SB 1200/1700
http://www.ausenergy.com.au/pdf/SMA_SB1200_1700_data_sheet.pdf

One string of 15 modules for each inverter.
Inverters mounted outside to make my life a little harder than it needed to be.

West south west facing sadly and with some shading issuses hence the the Thin film ASI pannels as they are great under low/poor light conditions.

Dude to shading and orientation I doubt this would be financially viable unless you can do it at cost.....Which I haz

Had to reinforce the roof a little too and dig  a dirty great hole to get that cable to the DB thats in the garage (no idea why its in the garage i didnt build the house).

Systems in the Uk taking advantage of feed in tarrifs meaning I'm getting paid £0.44 per KWh just for producing the juice even tho I'm using every watt mining i still get paid.

No working data yet but I have a SMA web box that cost a fortune that I will get sorted at some point.
