whats the distance between the USB ports on the 8 port? they would need to be atleast 13mm apart i guess?
442  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Now on Bitmit: Molex powered USB hub on: June 27, 2013, 08:31:05 PM
just measured mine and they are 25mm across.
443  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Now on Bitmit: Molex powered USB hub on: June 27, 2013, 02:36:18 PM
any news on this? i havent been anywhere near mine to measure them...
444  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / benefits for running a client? on: June 27, 2013, 02:14:43 PM
I'm running BitCoin, LiteCoin and FeatherCoin clients on my PC (not the mining software) - i'm not using the wallet features anymore on this machine - is there any point running them? does it help the network with having them running?

what kind of overhead on my machine would it cause having them all running?

I'm loosing about 600MB of RAM to the 3 clients but what about CPU/HDD and network...
445  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PiMiner - DIY mining controller/monitor with Raspberry Pi on: June 27, 2013, 12:33:04 PM
apparently you 'can' overclock the CPU - i dont know how or to what value - i'd definately investigate cooling - as i've seen people say they've over clocked to 800mhz

just googled and found this:

http://www.jeremymorgan.com/tutorials/raspberry-pi/how-to-overclock-raspberry-pi/

1000Mhz and much improved RAM speed? I think thats a win BUT i'd definiatly want a cooler on the chip Wink
446  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PiMiner - DIY mining controller/monitor with Raspberry Pi on: June 27, 2013, 12:05:33 PM
how many usb block erupters can the rasberry pi handle?
it has two usb connections, so can I hook up 2 x 10 port hubs to it?

i would assume that the hard limit would be 127 *2 USB devices? depending on whether the the two USB ports are separate controllers...

the 2 ports are from a single bus...

so its a maximum of 127 devices then...

But Augusto can make GB and buy items from yxt. Cheaper if buy more.

<..>
1 unit 1,19
>=10 units 1,09
>=50 units 0.99
excluding shipping
DHL parcel within EU: ~15€
registered priority mail, worldwide: ~6€
<..>

precisely the thing we need to do Smiley

that .19 makes a massive difference if looking at ROI Wink

plus buying some of these cheaper WILL overall reduce the cost of the original purchases - my two have returned 0.4 BTC since recieving them and setting them off to mine so i still have a long way to go to recover my 4.2BTC originally spent Wink but if i buy two more @ 1BTC each the overal cost for USB miners will be 6.2 BTC and i will have doubled my hashrate... not that the ROI will be much shorter!

As I am in the UK and as the import/customs taxes are a stupid amount im more interested in anyone with experience shipping to the UK or already in the UK.

i have had a few people offer me cards at prices where i can buy them brand new cheaper due to the shipping costs or where they are damaged - please only offer cards that are a reasonable price or in fully working (game stable) condition - im not expecting people to give them away either (although am happy to accept it Wink)

can't quite tell but have you put a heatsink on the CPU?

A quick google came up with this:

http://www.amazon.com/ASICMiner-Block-Erupter-300MH-Sapphire/dp/B00CUJT7TO

Product Dimensions: 3 x 1.4 x 0.5 inches

I'll measure mine when i get home otherwise Wink

3 x 1.4 x 0.5 inches can't be right. Maybe it's the dimensions of the case? 1.4 inches is 35.56 mm. A USB type A plug is 12mm wide, and I estimate from looking at pictures that the whole USB Block Erupter is ~25mm wide.

i agree Smiley the dimensions seemed a little generous - i'll get better ones this evening Smiley

alos any ideas what the max rated power draw on the 4 or 8 port is? the USB Block Erupters need 500ma each? so for 8 thats around 4A right?

All right!

I will contact Friedcat to know if my group buy could order the Block Erupter USB for at least 0.99 BTC each.

Once I get more information I will able to decide if I will work with a new group buy to deliver more Block Erupter USBs to interested buyers.

Keep tuned in.

fingers crossed - you can mark me up for 3 if they are doing a 1BTC refund per chip Wink

interesting project... all in one.

Another pi miner, my mini rig

is this not a bit expensive now as the FPGA board does around 5-6Mhash for 70 and the USB Asic does 333 for around the same? (based on 0.99 BTC) (GBP prices)

where are you located?
457  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [CLOSED] Block Erupter USB @ 2.10 BTC + parcel -> Shipping to anywhere! on: June 24, 2013, 04:21:30 PM
There is exclusive deal in China and EU.  No more direct group buys.

I'm guessing that getting a group buy in the UK is out then :S

Maybe we can order more to help Augusto to pass the 1000 items sold to get the discounted price of 0.89 and also get back the extra money payed for all items that he ordered (I assume that include the old one sold at 1.99).

This way we can reduce out cost for both Augusto and buyers ... If I understood correctly friedcat message https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=217104.msg2559360#msg2559360.

my understanding of this is that IF AC gets over 1000 orders we'll all get a refund for the original purchases - so if i order 4 miners (prevously ordered 2) i should only have to pay around 2 BTC? if so i'll order 5 new ones Cheesy

Brilliant project! If only ASICMiner drops the price for their USB hardware ...

havent they just dropped them?

I dont even know what a  USB Block Exploder is. Just Googled it and got this thread and some irrelevant youtube videos

should be USB block Erupter - not exploder typo in the OP - will correct it Smiley
