It is interesting.
I agree that most of the users do not pay much attention to the specification of the coin and its technical characteristics.
But these users are well aware of the financial benefits which for they offer this or that crypto currency.
For example, there are coins that pay users annual interest rates (POS) or reward to large owners (Masternode holders).
What can you say about this?
Does the Goldcoin team have plans to use such technologies, encouraging large investors for your system?

Thank you for your comments. While we continue to explore ways of making Proof of Work more energy efficient, we do not plan on adding PoS or Masternodes due primarily to the fact these systems have a downside risk of centralization.

Hi.
Is Goldcoin planning any technological changes?
The market for many script coins is going through a crisis today, but GLD is holding pretty well, but do not you think that just just one POW technology today is already scarce for building a successful business model?

Over the years, Goldcoin has made several technological improvements and continues to evolve. Our marketcap is growing steadily at a rate of 10% month-over-month.

Amir has upgraded the currency’s blocksize to an optimal 2 MB, improved the protocol’s difficulty adjustment algorithm, and added an innovative strip-mining defense system. Our network currently has 10X the network capacity of the leading coin w/ 5X faster transactions. A major rebase is scheduled for the Fall which will be followed by a thin client for Windows.

It's important also to consider the consumer, who will ultimately be the true test, wants a currency that's familiar, secure, sovereign, easy to use, and fast. They generally have zero concern about which mining scheme is being utilized.

Block rewards in order:
Blocks 1 – 200 = 10,000 GLD
Blocks 201 – 2,200 = 1,000 GLD
Blocks 2,201 – 44,999 = 500 GLD
Block 45,000 reward drops to 45 GLD
Block xxx,xxx reward drops to 32 GLD
Block 372,000 reward drops to 4 GLD
Reward is then reduced each year using the following formula:
50 divided by (1.1 + 0.49*every year thereafter)
Block replies seem pretty good. Not sure how long Goldcoin will last though

Total number of coins to be mined is 72,245,700 over an 85 year mining period.

Sunday Meeting August 20th Highlights

Please find below highlights from Sunday's Skype meeting.

Note: The information below consists largely of my pre-meeting notes. There were several topics discussed during the Q&A portion of the meeting not included below. If you want to be sure to catch everything, be sure to catch the next meeting.

Opening: "GoldCoin (GLD) is the world's first Hard Money. A super secure value store and cash payment system for the New Digital World."

1.  Nova Exchange volume has been increasing lately and accounted for the second highest Goldcoin volume over the past 24 hours behind Bittrex. This is a positive sign indicating greater trading distribution.

2.  Mike Hearn has just released never-before-seen letters between himself and Satoshi Nakamoto. These letters provide the last remaining pieces of the puzzle. We now have the the entire blueprint for completing the vision of a trustless, permissionless currency (aka digital gold), and delivering it via the Goldcoin brand.

Source: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2080206.0

3.  Today's meeting was recorded via screen capture and will be archived for possible publishing at a late date.

4.  As predicted at our last Sunday meeting, Goldcoin has broken through its 10 cents resistance level of 4 years. It appears that 10 cents is now a strong level of support. The Goldcoin price continues to demonstrate remarkable stability, considering the recent turbulence in Bitcoin, and continues its steady upward trajectory month over month.

5.  To ensure success we must remove all potential points of failure. As long as we are dependent on any device, exchange, provider, or individual, we are exposed and at risk. The internet is a prime example of proper decentralized scale. Goldcoin aims to be the internet of money. There is no other way to achieve unlimited scale.

"Distributed, decentralized systems have an inherent power that literally obsoletes centralized systems. This is obvious even to the most casual observer. We have known this for decades. It was not until the arrival of the blockchain, however, that we had a tool capable of melding "decentralized" and "distributed" into a single unit within which no central authority whatsoever was necessary." ~ John McAfee

As Bitcoin devolves into a complex mess of overlapping systems, GoldCoin shall remain a shining example of trustless simplicity.
Rather off-topic: I'm new to Bitcointalk and Goldcoin. Saw the latter at WorldCoinIndex, had a quick look at the website, kind of like what I saw, and bought some GLD at Bittrex.

When I came here, was pleasantly surprised to see the first post - it's from late 2013...almost 4 years ago! This project may not be well-known but with this kind of mileage, it's evidence that GLD isn't some opportunistic altcoin meant only to enrich the creators.

I'm taking this a lot more seriously now. Will download and install the client on my desktop and Android phone. Plus continue to learn more. Not to mention buying more GLD from time to time.

Thanks for posting your thoughts. Please let us know if you have any comments or questions. Welcome to Goldcoin!

This ....

"Bitcoin can already scale much larger than (Visa) with existing hardware for a fraction of the cost.  It never really hits a scale ceiling." ~ Satoshi

Yeah, that is interesting. My guess would be that he's saying a single node could operate at that scale for less than the total operations of Visa. That could be true.

As for the "scale ceiling", I think he's arguing that there isn't a quadratic (or higher) growth in cost. Which I think is also probably true in general. I haven't seen a convincing argument against it at least. I'm aware of the quadratic cost in signatures, but that's as the size of a transaction grows rather than as the number of transactions go.

Really a very different perspective than certain key developers today who emphatically claim that 8MB is scary and dangerous.

Here Satoshi breaks it all down during a discussion of client-only mode. https://pastebin.com/wA9Jn100

It seems he liked to keep things simple, rather than the current trend of increasing complexity.  Wink

And when it will be fixed? I like this coin im mining it since 2016, and at the moment mining is not worth.

The system's behavior is by design.

Mining profitability is not always guaranteed and during periods of market volatility and/or increasing mining interest, calculating returns will be more complex.

Whats happend with gld in hash -to-coins? Im mining with 3 ghs and i recieve 0,5 every 5-10 min and sometimes at 20 min. Is something weird. Is it pool problem or blockchain? Thanks you in advanced.

GoldCoin has a strip-mining defense system that requires new mining power be applied slowly over an extended period.

Sunday Meeting August 6th Highlights

Please find below highlights from Sunday's Skype meeting.

Note: The information below consists largely of my pre-meeting notes. Today's meeting went long and there were several topics discussed during the Q&A portion of the meeting not included below. If you want to be sure to catch everything, simply don't miss a meeting.  Tongue

Opening: "GoldCoin (GLD) is the world's first Hard Money. A super secure value store and cash payment system for the New Digital World."

1.  The protocol is fundamental. The underlying structure of anything will determine its behavior. When you change the protocol, you change everything. Most people don't think structurally, they think situationally.

2.  What the world wants is sovereign money; basically the antithesis of what we've had for the past 100 years. The only way this can be achieved is by means of the protocol. The only way this can be stopped is by means of the protocol. (thought: People that do not understand the protocol are ill equipped to take part in consensus voting.)

3.  Goldcoin is now supported by Trading View. Trading View is one of the largest and most active trading communities on the web, with over 1,000,000 monthly active users from 100+ countries. https://www.tradingview.com/symbols/GLDBTC/

4.  Goldcoin has met an area of market resistance at the 10 cent level. This is primarily due to the fact 10 cents is the all-time high, sans short term spikes. Order book ask depth indicates the strength of this resistance is weakening. Being on parity with the dime is also influencing this rut.

5.  Sabur who attended today's meeting has agreed to screen record the next community meeting. We have not decided whether this will be a live stream or simply recorded video and later published. Either way, we plan to make the August 20th meeting available for viewing on YouTube.

6.  Advertising. Albert Milligan has devised a social media advertising strategy that is now in its second week. This strategy involves capturing social media conversions by promoting our brand, our dedication to on-chain scaling, and strict adherence to the concepts outlined in Satoshi's original whitepaper.

Goldcoin is sovereign money. Its economic incentives shall remain unmolested, its permissionless and trustless character untarnished.

“The human spirit will not invest itself in a compromise.” ~ Robert Fritz

If FIAT Replaced the Gold Standard, Why Can’t Cryptocurrencies Replace FIAT?

History has shown that we have moved from the barter system to the gold standard and then to FIAT.  Is Cyptocuurency the next standard?

Have a look at my post, feedback appreciated, but please don't be too harsh.  I don't claim to be an economist or expert in this area.

https://urbancrypto.com/if-fiat-replaced-the-gold-standard-why-cant-cryptocurrencies-replace-fiat/

Nice article! Yes, cryptocurrencies will obsolete fiat much the same way the automobile obsoleted the horse and buggy. It's simply better money.
455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it over? on: July 19, 2017, 11:27:38 PM
I see all coins including bitcoin going back upwards, so is the dump over now? will we see all coins go to high values now?

In this business you need a steady hand and a long-term perspective. Measure the markets month-by-month not day-by-day.

Predicting daily trends should be left to only those directed by the hand of God.
456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How did you guys ride out the last bitcoin/altcoin "crash"? on: July 19, 2017, 11:24:14 PM
All the buzz about crypto lately has been about how it's going to crash and burn and how it's going to take people like us down with it.  How do you guys deal with the naysayers?

Cryptocurrencies will eventually obsolete other forms of money but still you must correctly pick the winners.

Well, GoldCoin (GLD) is the best performer since June 2013. I see no reason for the trend to end now! Cool

458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sending bitcoin without the miner fees ! on: July 03, 2017, 01:41:01 AM
So i was thinking if i send a bitcoin transaction without the miner fee or a very low fee what will happen ? would i get the coins back eventually ? or they will just stuck there forever ! and if that happened how to do that double spend ?

Bitcoins never go into space. You will either get the transaction returned or it will be included in a block.
459  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [BREAKING NEWS]: Craig Wright <> Satoshi Nakamoto on: July 01, 2017, 03:30:20 PM
Well it does not matter if Satoshi Nakamoto is Craig Wright. Just like other groundbreaking and revolutionary inventions out there, most of its users does not give a d*mn who invented it. As long as the users can use it freely, the inventor will not matter to them.

Is it good to know who invented the thing/s you're using? YES
Is it necessary? NO

You do understand that bitcoin is under threat? So you think sitting back with your head in the sand is the solution?

Anyway, carry on men I must return to my work building the "financial sovereignty mechanism for the world."
