If someone can get clips4sale.com to accept BTC, it could be HUGE (no pun intended).

post an address and I'll send you 0.05 btc. Not for prayers though, but because your zoetrope made me nearly piss myself.

Your generosity is appreciated!

I thought it makes me look especially trustworthy.

That would depend on what it was I was trusting you to do. Not pray, thats for sure. Prey, maybe.  Grin

Not sure what you're talking about, bro.  This is so, so so, so...so so so ....SO...so legit.  So what'll it be?  5 for a buck?  2 for 10?  You look like a clever fellow who knows what he wants...

By jove, man...this is brilliant!

Concept model.

Nice! People don't smile when they pray though. Not that kind of grin, anyway.

I thought it makes me look especially trustworthy.
4505  Economy / Marketplace / Re: New service: turn Your gold to Bitcoins on: July 29, 2011, 07:57:22 AM

We offer very good price -- 93% of gold world market value.

Current gold price - ~ 1600 USD (actually, it's a little higher than this, but to make things easy...)
1 oz ~ 28.3g
1600/28.3 ~56.5
56.5 * .93 ~ 52.54
Current market value of Bitcoin = 13.5 at time of this post (Mt. Gox price)
52.54/13.5 ~3.88 BTC per gram of gold
Currently the calculator on your site offers 3.57 BTC.

Why the difference between 3.88 BTC and 3.57 BTC?  This doesn't look like 93% to me.

However, I think your business plan is brilliant.  At this time, I would absolutely love to have a gold-to-bitcoin business.

Precious metals are measured in Troy Ounces, which equal about 31.1 grams.  Using that with the same math, I get 3.54, which is close considering price fluctuations.

Duly noted.

Excuse my ignorance for not reading through this thread.  I just happened to see that someone had written that "education is hard work."  I had to snicker at that.  I'll allow a caveat for the 'hard' sciences (i.e. those requiring extreme mathematical precision).

Meh, reading one or two EXTREMELY dull and boring 27 page business cases every day, because you have to if you want an understanding of the subject and a nice degree to go with it, is hard work too. Though most of the work performed is for staying awake and not zoning out.

Fair enough.  I guess I was using a different nomological definition of "hard."

4510  Economy / Services / Personal Training for BTC (learn from the best!) - Diet/Exercise Regimen on: July 28, 2011, 10:32:44 AM
Hi, I recently saw a similar thread regarding personal training and would like to make a competing offer.

While I am not a licensed personal trainer, I would bet good money I know more about athletic training than 99% of personal trainers out there.  I trained personally under former Mr. Universe Jeff Primm for 4 years.  Jeff's website can be found at www.primmandproper.com and he is also a former trainer for the Detroit Lions minor league football team and someone who has trained with bodybuilders like Lou Ferrigno.  I know how to add muscle for skinny-types who want to pack on some hard muscle, and I know how to slim down if you're the type that has the bulk but wants to lose the fat.  Why?  I've been in both positions.  Standing 5'11, I've weighed 122 lbs. at 10% bodyfat (skinny) and as much as 208 lbs at 24% bodyfat (chubby).  I offer to you my knowledge that I have learned from the best of the best.

This offer first includes a full consultation, evaluation and analysis.  I will ask you a series of specific questions that will help me to confidently assess your current fitness level.  These questions will help me to take into account things such as current diet, current fitness level, past athletic experience, age, gender, personal interests, and other health/fitness factors so that I can create a personal diet and exercise plan specifically customized for you.  You would be absolutely amazed at how fast your body can change with the proper discipline and attitude.

*Note:  If you have a serious health condition, please use caution when seeking my advice.  I do not have past experience working with people that have significant health issues, physical disabilities, or who are elderly.  If you fall into this category and have specific health related questions, I can offer you another service.  This service will be called "Ask the Mr. Universe."  I have Jeff Primm's number in my phone and have his ongoing permission to ask him any health/fitness related questions.  I can provide this service for a very small negotiable fee (not to exceed .1 BTC per question).  This fee must be sent prior to me deferring your question to the Mr. Universe so that I do not needlessly occupy too much of his time.

The "Ask the Mr. Universe" service also applies to anyone who decides to pursue the evaluation and diet/exercise regimen process.  However, those who pursue the full process will have the "Ask the Mr. Universe" service incorporated free of charge.  This means that for any question that you have that applies to your fitness endeavors that I am not able to answer, I will defer your question to the Mr. Universe.  Rates for the evaluation and the creation of the diet/exercise regimen process will be negotiated privately through pm.  This fee will be 1-time only and will be requested after the consultation/evaluation but prior to the creation of the diet/exercise regimen.  This means, in essence, the consultation/evaluation is free but the diet/exercise regimen is not.  Unlimited additional fitness questions after the creation of the diet/exercise regimen will be answered free of charge.

I will accept payment in BTC only.

**Note:  This service is primarily intended for otherwise healthy individuals who are capable of engaging in various physical fitness exercises.  If you are unsure if you have any physical health abnormalities, consult a doctor first.

Here is an attached picture of me, currently standing at 5'11, 180 lbs. at 5.5% bodyfat.  This is the proof of my work.

I would love to host this video for educational purposes. And to who ever thinks that someone could get away with recording a one minute loop then sell it as praying for 10 hours must be chuck noris becuase i know praying or even meditating for even 3 hours straight gets very tiresome every minute passing so there would obviously be some authentic-ness too this looping video in order to work

Lol

I can also print love/death wishes on paper repeatedly to exponentially increase the total amount of love/death in existence.  I can then put them up like Tibetan prayer flags and take a picture.
4512  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Your child brings this letter home from school... on: July 21, 2011, 06:54:17 PM
The child should be commended for thinking for himself.  I am in a graduate-level social work program, and I often find myself taking the role of both child and parent in the classroom on a regular basis.  I have probably challenged every professor at least a dozen times for misinformation, hypocrisy, blatant contradictions, etc.  I have found that there are upsides and downsides to this.  Perhaps the greatest downside is that you can become marginalized -- it seems the vast majority of people do not challenge anything and they will often see you as a troublemaker with a chip on the shoulder.  At the beginning of the 2nd semester last year, I had a professor tell me that I was already well-known by all the professors at the college (and not in a good way) because I would consistently challenge/question anything that I couldn't accept based upon prima facie evidence.  On the other hand, by continuously challenging the material, I felt as though I had a much deeper understanding of it than my fellow classmates did.  I used to simply accept things that authority figures told me, and, even though I had always gotten good grades, I had to work much harder.  Now, because I have habituated myself to question everything, I maintain a 4.0 without breaking a sweat -- learning has become fun, and not work.  In fact, if I were to suddenly receive anything less than a 4.0, I'd feel that I devolved to a monkey or something.  School is ridiculously easy if you can get outside the cognitive box they try to force you into.  On that note, not every authority is to be respected.  Competent authority is to be respected.  Teaching can be a noble profession, but teaching misinformation is not noble.  Give the kid a lollipop.

...so how the hell is democracy going to work if they aren't rational enough to choose good leaders?

Gotta love the bell curve.  You will find 'average' decisions being made most frequently.

.01 btc/minute = $7.8/hour. If I pay you for 10 hours, will you videotape yourself praying out loud for 10 hours straight and post it to YouTube?

Yes.  Yes I will.  Though you're really gonna make me use my TB harddrive aren't you.  Wouldn't that take like 10 hours to upload to YouTube?

Luckily, uploading is a passive task Smiley Maybe you could SCP it to me to minimize the effort and I can split and YouTube it Wink

Haha, are you for real?

4519  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bet now - When will aliens visit earth? on: July 14, 2011, 09:49:30 PM
Given the assumed amount of time that has passed and that will pass, given the hierarchy of life which cannot be expected to end at the boundaries of earth, given the implausibility of human evolution according to modern evolutionary models, given the unexplainable boom in digital technology, and given Kevin Spacey, it is safe to say aliens have already come and gone, or are currently influencing the planet.  If you think they have not, consider your extremely limited scope of observation and the fact that modern scientific discoveries (particularly those of quantum mechanics and metaphysical fields) seem more implausible than anything I've ever seen/read/heard in the realm of fiction.

Edit:  I bet all BTC.
4520  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Can you Jerry-Rig your Rig? on: July 13, 2011, 11:34:25 PM
There's a fundamental problem when you try to reverse hashing functions:
Due to the bit-shifting you lose information. Information you need to guess when you want to reverse it, creating loads of possibilities.

Bit-shifting work like this: You got the initial bits, e.g.
01010101
now you shift to the right by, lets say 4 bits it fill it with 0s:
00000101
You just lost 4 bits of information. You now have to guess the lost 4 bits to reverse the operation: 2^4=16 possible variations.

It could be one of these:
01011111
01011110
01011101
01011100
01011000
01011001
01011010
01011011
01010000
01010001
01010010
01010011
01010111
01010110
01010101
01010100

But a hashing function doesn't consist of one bit-shifting operation but multiple iterations, based on each other. And of course it's based on more than 8 bits.
In between these shift operations the hashing functions performs some other operations, like multiplications, to get rid of the 0s we just added.

So basically at each operation you want to reverse you have another operation that it's based on which also leads to more guessing and so on.
Work, that you can only verify to be correct after you've checked each guessed version until you hit the right one. So basically you are better off just guessing inputs until you hit the right one.

Disclaimer: I'm basing this on my knowledge of the MD5 hashing algorithm, but SHA-2 uses shift operations, too.

Also helpful.  Thank you!
