4521  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Most Exciting Bitcoin Projects! on: May 13, 2016, 08:33:56 AM
The only one I'm excited about is the block halving it means that we will probably see a dump because people are expecting the price to rise. But after a few months it will start rising steadily but that only a theory. Tongue I will probably wait and watch on that day the bitcoin price to see if my prediction is true

Of course holders are going to dump when price reach just enough for them. Its always been the cycle they buy low sell high.
When it reach just about $600 they might just even sell to buy low again if it goes down. if not then that's just going to make them regret.

no need for buy wall;
dumpers gonna dump anyway, the sooner the better for waves

use the ''buy wall'' funds for development

Damn right! Let them dump if they want to dump their waves, its not like wave holder will suspect the devs will dump theirs before them. The better for us holder who hold the waves tight because these dumpers will still have to buy later after regretting why they sold theirs.
4523  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is Becoming a Global Currency on: May 13, 2016, 07:17:56 AM
For the first time, when I look at the offers on LocalBitcoins.com, there are a half-dozen currencies ahead of the US dollar, offering a higher price for Bitcoin than US dollar users.

Euros, South African Rands, New Zealand Dollars, Hong Kong Dollars, Polish Zloty, Malaysian Ringgits.

It is no longer just the US, EU or even China driving adoption.  There is a market for Bitcoins in major countries all over the world.

More countries will follow and with their help of  the users here, its possible that paypal will soon change their policy just to compete with bitcoin.
All that bitcoin needs is the exposure to these individuals and allowing the them to earn thru bitcoin, they will certainly be using bitcoin.

has someone ever told you that usb stick are going to malfunction if not used for maybe around 2 months or so? its like appliances in your house. if not used for month, there are tendencies that it won't work at all. its better to just print a paperwallet instead.
4525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Daohub to become one of the largest crowdfunds ever. on: May 13, 2016, 06:42:25 AM

Excited about DAO as well. I don't have much to invest but yeah. I can see the project may go on as what is expected.
I only hope it won't take a year before the price of DAO burst.

don't know why lots of getting too much excited about DAO tokens as personally i don't have much hope with this project. Project's idea is cool but we have already seen cool projects will take more than year or half to get live. What is happening with lisk lauch is one example. After the ICO developers like to enjoy with the funds they have collected and forget the development thats why i don't like ICO coins or tokens, but DAO may pop up differently.

I am rather enjoying ride on ethereum pump with this DAO thing.

Lisk team doesn't have access to the fund yet... Roll Eyes

Really? why is it on the exchange if its not to them yet?
4526  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Google Is Illegally Spying On People On The Internet on: May 13, 2016, 04:35:06 AM
google has always been spying us every since. take a look at the ads displayed on the websites you visit and you'll its almost targeted to you. search something like "car models" and you'd be prompt with ads about cars. how do they know  which ads to display? its because they've spy us thru the browser cookies.
4527  Economy / Economics / Re: WILL BITCOIN BE USED BY ALMOST EVERYONE IN 2022? on: May 13, 2016, 04:20:23 AM
Changing times and fast paced technologies are slowly influencing the ways we do our day to day transactions. Even third world countries are being introduced to BTC, though at a slower pace. It might take more than 6 years before something like mass adoption in far away places take place. People living in remote areas would find it challenging to adapt to changes because of logistical problems and infrastracture limitations.

I am from a third world country and yes, there have been websites in our country accepting bitcoin and services allowing users to cash out bitcoin to our banks, this proves bitcoin is now being used by almost all countries. One of the government official mentioned to have our own coin in the senate too. although i doubt it will be implemented.
4528  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Lack of Plan for ISIS Detainees Raises Human Rights Concerns on: May 13, 2016, 02:57:42 AM
The Islamic State calls them “inghimasi” — zealous foot soldiers who intend to fight to their deaths. And as the American-backed coalition has reclaimed territory from the group in Iraq and Syria, that fervor has kept prisoners from being much of a problem: The shooting only stops when almost every Islamic State fighter has been killed.

But that could change as the coalition moves toward the Islamic State’s largest urban strongholds — Mosul, Iraq, and Raqqa, Syria — raising a potential problem for the United States. If the coalition is successful and thousands of ordinary members of a collapsing Islamic State have nowhere left to retreat, will they start to surrender in greater numbers? And if so, who will be responsible for imprisoning them?

After the experiences of the past decade in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the Obama administration is determined not to revive large-scale detention operations. But it is far from clear whether allies on the ground — especially rebels in Syria — are prepared to hold large numbers of prisoners, raising the prospect of an ugly aftermath to any victory.

“If they’re not killed but detained, we are concerned about the standards of care, who would do it and how it would be done,” Peter Maurer, the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, said in an interview.

William K. Lietzau, who oversaw detention policy at the Pentagon from 2010 until 2013, said there was “widespread” opposition in the upper levels of the Obama administration to conducting wartime detention. But the alternative, he said, could lead to war crimes if American-backed local fighters encounter more potential prisoners than they can handle.

“If the numbers start climbing, they’re going to shoot them and you’ll never hear about it,” Mr. Lietzau said.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/12/world/middleeast/lack-of-plan-for-isis-detainees-raises-human-rights-concerns.html

US and Russia should execute all ISIS fighters.  Never take any prisoners.  That is what ISIS did to Iraqi army.  To win with these guys you have apply the same ISIS rules, not some Geneva convention mumbo jumbo.

Bump up production of ammunition and send them to Allah the Merciful.

There is nothing can change the minds of these people no matter how we educate them. If they've been a member if ISIS, then they're up to it forever. might as well give them to the Russians so its up to them. They can do whatever they want to them, if Putin push them down the stairs and say its an accident, so be it.
4529  Other / Off-topic / Re: Any way to do something like this? on: May 13, 2016, 02:33:21 AM
I'm looking for a way to make a CD or DVD self-destruct after its first use or after a set period of time. Or, at least, make a PDF file contained in it self-destruct.

I knew there were DVD by Flexplay which were able to self-destruct, but this company is no longer on the market: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flexplay

Do you know any other way to achieve such a goal? The self-destruction can be both physical (like the Flexplay method was) and internal.

Sounds like a technology for James Bond movie, i like to know if there is something like that as we can easily use as well. but what are you up to? lol Extort someone and wanted the evidence to be destroyed before your victim can make a copy?
4530  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Cointelegraph`s referral program on: May 13, 2016, 02:18:22 AM
i just got the message to after i loggedin.. do you think they'd lower their pay per hits when resume?
The referral programm is suspended. Will come soon.

All new readers brought by you will not be counted and paid during this week. But you are still able to withdraw those funds which were earned earlier.

I'm guessing the program was massively abused, or maybe the cost just didn't convert to expected income. Hope to see it back soon.
Might just be the reason, if bitcoin advertising network allows referral link to be advertised, it might just well be profitable. I don't think t his is an abuse though.
4531  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin replaces the money? Could happen? on: May 13, 2016, 01:57:53 AM
Bitcoin may not replace the fiat money but might just compete well with paypal and the rest of the payment method that connects the banks to online transactions. I'm beginning not to use my paypal account due to bitcoin. And i think the rest of us too.
4532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: May 12, 2016, 04:28:23 AM

I've been following this as well. Unfortunately, they are not updating it real time like they are with the Dao project. It still shows Waves at #43 though given what has been raised to this point Waves should now be at #31.

Again, this is an impressive metric as it reflects ALL crowdfunding projects from all time, not just crypto related ones. I hope the list gets updated by the end of the ico to reflect Waves' true standing. We will undoubtedly crack the top 30 with no problem.

Here's one with active, upcoming & successful crypto-related crowdsales

https://cyber.fund/radar

Based on BTC raised, WAVES is at #7
1. TheDAO : 97,182.2 Ƀ and counting
2. Ethereum : 31,531 Ƀ
3. Augur : 22,036 Ƀ
4. Lisk : 15,128 Ƀ
5. DigixDAO : 13,290 Ƀ
6. Safe Network : 12,200 Ƀ
7. Waves : 8272 Ƀ and counting

The DAO funds raised is misleading.

Because you can pull your ETH out of the smart contract after launch.

So there is virtually no risk of losing the ETH you invested

With the others listed there was no way to pull your BTC out of the fund after you sent it

If the DAO is included in these types of lists at all, then it should have an asterisk at the very least

I've invested few ETH on DAO lately but yeah I wanna clear that up, where did you get the info where we can pull our ETH out of the smart contract after launch?
As far as I know we just vote either yes or no for a project and the ETH will still remain as DAO token as bought.
4533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: RISE WARNING on: May 11, 2016, 04:26:24 AM
This due to the referrals ?

I was wondering lately as well since I tried posting them on my bitcoin channel which i do have bitcoin users that might be interested to invest on ICO but found out no eon ever register under me when few of them replied to my post saying they did register.

Alty left Cloakcoin originally. It's due to this and all sorts of other things listed in that post.

Oh he left, I just read it. I never thought they've actually made it back them, its was very successful though. 11$/ cloak is definitely a good success.
Too bad it just turn out to be scam when they all dump and left. I suspect history may repeat itself again if RISE get to be on the market.

4535  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people use so many Bitcoin wallets? on: May 11, 2016, 03:10:05 AM
its easy to get a new wallet anyway. a simple sign up to an exchange site gives a lot of wallets.
I myself have almost 5 wallets not to count the hard drive wallet, these are from blockhchain, yobit, coinbase, poloniex and from a mixer. i don't use all of them though except yobit and blockchain wallet.
4536  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Available writer/advertiser/reviewing for BTC & seeking advice for sig. campaign on: May 10, 2016, 06:08:45 AM
My advice is learn to gamble because by then you can post on topic insde the gambling section which is much preferred by signature campaign of gambling sites.
Learn to gamble not to the extent that you have to gamble all you earnings though, just learn few maybe poker, blackjack, bacarat or so.
4537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Expedia no longer accepts bitcoins on: May 10, 2016, 04:12:07 AM
I didn't know expedia accepts bitcoin back then. but yeah they probably figured only few people spend their bitcoin on hotel booking.
I myself would rather turn my btc into fiat for the purpose of booking to hotels.
4538  Economy / Economics / Re: WILL BITCOIN BE USED BY ALMOST EVERYONE IN 2022? on: May 08, 2016, 08:39:00 AM

It is said that bitcoin will destroy the fiat system but i believe that if this happens the world will change completly because banks and a lot of things will go out of market.

Not everyone will use bitcoin still. a better coins maybe just be preferred to be used later I'm just not sure which. ETH or Dash maybe.
Cryocurrency as a whole will be used my many particularly for the online transactions so it may surpass paypal due to the issues they have about disputes.
4539  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The government wants your fingerprint to unlock your phone. Should it be allowed on: May 08, 2016, 08:25:54 AM
No big deal.

I am not saying governments are innocent as a baby but unless you are doing illegal shits, you don't need to worry about them having your fingerprints.

it is a big deal. it should be a big deal for you if you really give importance to anonymity and privacy. People can't trust a government to be a baby especially if you are a government official or politician and are using online banking application your iphone.
4540  Economy / Economics / Re: If Bitcoin had a stable price, would it still be as popular? on: May 08, 2016, 08:14:46 AM
Nope. Interest would die off. Most are here for the prospect of price movement. I doubt usage would increase as the cost and inconvenience of obtaining them is always going to be with us.

Exactly, the reason why people are investing in Bitcoin is due to the returns. The use of Bitcoin for malicious reasons is not a huge percentage of the total population.
Most of the rich Bitcoin people are just waiting for it to explode.

Some have interest to bitcoin is also because of its use, we use btc to buy investments here in the community so btc will always be the first choice even when there are new altcoins today that see to be promising. people will always have interest to btc for merchants accepts it... for gamblers, btc will be great to have.
