Of course the update could have been rolled out better. It wasn't though, so? So nothing, exactly. Either you are part of the solution or you are part of the problem ;P I don't think anyone in the community is so pig headed to think that this was a smashing success. All things considered it really wasn't that bad either. Things are being worked on. For a coin without a foster dev it could be much worse.

I agree the rollout could have gone better. However, this experience highlights the strength and resilience of this community. All who could chipped in for solutions.  Also, throughout this exercise, I've been waiting for the $UNO price to crash (which, by the by, would have happened in 99.999% of other cryptos) so that I could load up on some more cheap $UNO. Alas, I've been disappointed that I haven't been able to pick up cheap $UNO. However, I've been delighted in the community performance and stability!

Does that mean there's an official Windows wallet?
463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Miners Update to 0.10 on: May 15, 2015, 03:18:20 AM
Please calm down, you haven't lost anything. Just download the  . 1 wallet and let it update. Your coins are on the rockchain.

What version of the wallet are you using?

Good for you!

Now, about the code. Does anyone know if there a reason why BW won't implement the fix in git? If not, I think forking it & applying the fix is the best option, as PatMan suggested, as it has been too long a delay already & is only putting people off the coin.
I can do this shortly. I'll post a link to the git repository when done.

Let me thank you in advance. I have been up to my eyeballs in work today, updating slush's mining proxy for a few clients and busting a filthy bitcoin theif in another thread.
How many did the thief get?

LOL, we used to have a nice number of conspiratorial conversations in here.

You a HODLer of $UNO?

Uh no this is the first time I have heard of it.
Well, welcome.

If you are looking for a store of value in the cryptoverse with a great and very active community, check it out.

Here's the link to the main page:

Only 250K, no inflation, no premine, no scams, no BS. What crypto should be.

We just added merge mining with BTC and a bunch of other SHA-256s, so the hash is through the roof.

We'd be glad to have you on board. Let me know if you have any questions or join the conversation in the main thread.

@Gekko, what was the name of the site that you found the translator on?  Does that site offer software services too? Perhaps a MAC programmer on there could be contracted if we could verify reputation?

What about the guys building the Android wallet? Do they build Apple apps too?

It was called upwork.com.  Was actually merged with the site I was recommended to check here.   It is like a remote labor pool kind of thing.  They have reputation stars.  Have any kind of remote labor.  Shows examples of previous work.  So you could possibly get an idea if you know what you are looking for I guess.

Yes, the site I recommended was elance.com

Does anyone have the skills to vet a developer of MAC software?

Hey, guys. Watch the tone please.  No need to make it personal.

I get what Patman's saying. He'll have to do better than that to offend me, but I don't even think he was trying.   He just needs to get his equipment running, and is voicing what many of you are feeling.. I get it.

I'm passing comments on to BW, so if he's not reading them here he's getting them by email.  I know there's concern that official wallets have not been released yet. I'm not thrilled about it either, and I don't have all the answers. Thanks to 8bitcoder for the stopgap Windows wallet. That helped the network a lot, but we're not done.

I'm looking for someone to compile the Mac wallets. If you know someone trustworthy, please pm me and I'll reach out. I'd offer a modest bounty to the right person.

Yes, the time of all this could have been done better.  I'm doing what I can with what I have, and like you all I'm trying to help when I think I have the answers.

I believe Uno is headed in the right direction, and am working to help clear these rocks off the road. I'm here long term, no matter what, and responding to all PM's.

I regret I do not posess any skills when it comes to building windows/mac wallets. Could probably do the gitian thing but it feels sloppy to me. I never even use precompiled linux binaries, I prefer to build my own.

Hey Gekko,

On another note, did you see my post about helping with $UNO for getting listed on an exchange?

Thanks for spearheading those projects!

The Supreme Leader of Unobtania would love to see a coin review of UNO in his favorite Chinese language crypto website
http://8btc.com/space-uid-1446.html

Better not fall asleep while writing or reading the $UNO review either. Bad things happen...

EDIT:

@Gekko

I've hoovered up a bit of $UNO dust over the past days to devote 3 days of zero gravity to the CNY/UNO exchange project.

Add 5 more from me. Let's get this party started!

I know things are serious around here right now, but in other news...

I've identified POTATO MAN!!!

I'm not a miner, but I don't understand. Our hash is through the roof and new blocks are being found all the time. isn't the merge mining active?
477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Miners Update to 0.10 on: May 13, 2015, 12:45:28 AM

Your points are well taken.

As for number five. I have a friend that uses:

www.elance.com

for a bunch of spreadsheet and web stuff. Most of the work is done in SE Asia for very affordable prices.

I'm sure that there's someone on there that could do what you speak of...

1.  Yes, great idea.  Looks like just translating the web page text would be $15-20.  No sweat, but key would be identifying a translator with knowledge of crypto currency, so that words like "hash" don't end up being translated into a symbol for things that SirSmokesAlot and I may or may not have in common....

I will work on this.

2.  I would suggest a few Chinese additions to the webpage before sending the text off for translation.  Most of these could be done now for free (who takes care of the webpage?)

Exchanges:  add BTC38.com, and Bter.com marked "coming soon"

Quotations:  add current quote for CNY/UNO available at http://coinmill.com/CNY_UNO.html and https://www.coingecko.com/en/price_charts/unobtanium/cny

"Talk Uno":  open an Unobtainium account on Weibo and mirror the UNO Twitter feed.  It would be cool if somebody could get a Chinese girlfriend to handle this.  All of mine are Vietnamese.  Add link to Unobtanium Weibo in the "Talk Uno" section.

3.  Once we have a Chinese webpage that mirrors the English one (same site, just choose Union Jack or Chinese Flag?),

---we see about getting a few articles published (in Chinese) that one of us writes (our standard pitch PLUS the potential for owning something so rare and EXCLUSIVE in China...) pointing people to the page.

---Hire Chinese SEO guy (maybe $100) to get our site high on Baidu (Chinese Google).

Write some short sweet emails to the major exchanges mentioned above pointing to all the publicity we just created and ask them to list UNO.

Sounds to me like about $150 could bootstrap the effort.  That's about 60 UNO.

I could pay all the bills, post them here, and collect contributions after I have paid.

Anyone have more to add to this early morning brainstorm?  (6:25 am Hanoi time)

I'll commit 10 $UNO to this project. I think the CNY/UNO pair would be very beneficial.
478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Miners Update to 0.10 on: May 12, 2015, 10:24:52 PM

5.  I wonder how much it would cost to hire some Chinese kids to translate unobtanium.uno into Chinese, then promote the hell out of it on Weibo (Chinese Twitter) and do some of that SEO stuff?  One Chinese guy with $100k could own UNO like his personal bitch and take us on a magic carpet ride.  It needs to get on BTC38.com or another prominent exchange behind the Great Wall of money there.  We need some good old fashioned Chinese propaganda to catch that yellow whale's eye.

#5 was totally off topic.  Just on my mind since BitCoinNational's post on the little altcoin volume surge in China today.  It will never happen to us if we are not in front of Chinese eyeballs.

Absolutely! Thanks to 8Bitcoder!
