1. Dev makes a 1:1 copy of Zerocoin libs from other coins.
2. Dev claims that hes able to implement Zerocoin fully.
3. Lies exposed, believers get screwed again.

most noobs dont know the difference between X11 and scrypt so i dont think that DIG being scrypt will have
a negative impact for newcomers.
What worries me (and makes me loose interest in this coin at this point tbh) is this passive waiting on the natural value increase of this coin
before launching any sort of major active promotion campaign. Right now you dont have any products or services you can buy with DIG as
there is no active promotion going on to attract merchants and services .. something that wont likely change in the nearby future with current strategy.
Personally i stopped mining, i just dont see the point in it anymore. I just thought there would be a lot more active promotion going on by now.

What would you propose? They said that theres pretty much nothing they can do at this point, because not enough people havent followed the path. And i agree. There is no point to make another giveaway if even the reddit giveaway is still open because theres not many who want coins for free. They also can not make other bounties because Digit is not in any good exchange yet. No one will care to help until Digit has some value which can be turned in to profit. The only way i see is to wait or change something which is holding crowd from mining and promoting this coin. And those points are clearly the facts that its scypt, its premined and its mining period is huge 3 years. Its simply not appealing at the moment. Despite the beautiful technical and fundamental idea and artwork. People simply dont care if theres no quick profit involved. I know how markets work, because i trade for living for more than 8 years already. |

do you evan read the thread? we are talking about implementing ring signatures and drk send and we have a 20btc bounty and 15k drm bounty so far for a coder who can do it, i don't think we will be doing zerocoin anymore to much of a pain in the ass and drksend with signatures is just as good

Is there any proof at all that dev is able to implement zerocoin or darksend? Anything at all? All i see from souce code and github pulls is simple copy paste from other coins. I would like to see more than simple forum posts claiming to be "pro coder". Could anyone point me to some proof?  Some original work done by this dev. |

Oh btw. Theres tons of results if you google for "bump bitcointalk" thread. Because of this subforum has gotten very active and messy, a lot of coins are artificially pumped by its backers.
Look at the popular topics. They are held on top only by 10-15 people posting over and over and over again.
Is this lame? Yes! Is this effective? Also- Yes!
Unfortunately there is no cure for that. Another reason why Digit topic has less views. Its not pumped in every few minutes.

I really like the idea of this coin. But its character is holding it from hype and quick success. 99% of bitcointalk users only care about quick money and Digit´s difficulty adjusting block reward and long mining period is not motivating them to jump in. Besides, X11 is now a lot more popular than scrypt. What you guys think?

If you will try to restrict by IP, then this is easy to overcome too. Could you elaborate on this - richlists are becoming a very valuable tool to monitor what devs/big-fish are doing with a coin. Are you saying this is going to become a less usable measure going forward because of masternodes? Richlist has never been and will never be a "valuable tool". Its made up to fool the ingorants. All you see is a single account balance. Any user can have several accounts and wallets running on a single machine. Anyone with a basic knowledge of how wallets work, know how to do this. Most whales do this because they dont want to show that they have huge amount of coins, which can be used to manipulate the price when they want to. |

DRK for sure. It is very hard to make good prognoses, especially for such a long time. Also there still might be the new greatest coin launched right about now  +1 We will probably see a x5 rise in the next weeks. ...Or not... Dark is going back down after pump right now (hope you sold yours already )... many coins are releasing similar anonymous send feature and much more advanced features, what else Dark has to compete in the a longer run  Zerocoin has been abandoned. Zerocash is centralized What other anonymous coins? Currently, Darkcoin is the best and practically only anonymous coin out there... Waiting with interest when darkcoin fans finally realize that devs have been manipulation with you all that time. |

If you will try to restrict by IP, then this is easy to overcome too. Why do you think piracy in torrents is so popular? No one can control it. Thats why. Its exactly the same story with cryptocoins. You could set some restrictions for dumb people, but the smarter ones will always get around it and because of your restrictions, smarter people will get even richer. The only somewhat effective way would be to integrate licence keys and force a node to connect centralized server before starting with mining. This centralized server could restrict hash rate and reject all invalid nodes with false keys. This of course would wipe out all anonymity and decentralization and would probably never get popular. Centralized server(s) would literally have power over entire network.

Definately. But it needs our help. If every single one of you only mines and does nothing to advertise the coin, then it will not grow big and have no value. We need to show initiative and do all we can to make this nice coin get bigger.  Currently i see only 9 upvotes and 6 comments on Coinedup vote. There are surely more of us here? |

Keeping premine and its use a secret is definately not a good thing. You have valid points there.
Im not against premine if the use of premine is transparent. Unlike Federal Reserve Bank, cryptocoins do not have money printing machines to put for good(or bad) use.

I have removed all my dropbox links regarding Mintcoin, since they are outdated anyway.
Avoids confusion of someone downloading the old client.
However, im not too sure if anyone has compiled new 1.9.1 mac version yet. OP is not updated and still links to my old 1.8.

Majority of people are naive or do not care about Dark instamine because price goes up and hype is crazy high.
Same situation with Dreamcoin. All hail about its zerocoin implementation possibility and price skyrockets. I have reason to believe that zerocoin will not be fully implemented in that coin any time soon. So im watching that topic with great interest. Soon those teenages will start to turn against eachother and, dev probalby abandons the coin like he did with hes previous coins and all will end up worse than blackcoin did.
Serious and more compicated coins which have great devs, suffer under lack of interest.
HBN, NOVA, WDC and couple of others. All have devs or dev team, who are extremely capable. MYR as well, but luckily MYR gets at least some attention.
My hope is that those coins which have capable devs will not abandon their work and all those X11 and some Scrypt junk coins will soon be forgotten.
