461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: April 08, 2018, 08:17:12 PM
Anyone else think it's funny that Bcash is in the 'Altcoins' category on here?

nope.

ideally it should be in the trash section. it's incredible it's still in the position it is. just goes to show what some aggressive backing can pull off. i certainly wouldn't be expecting any long term epicness from this one.
462  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Amazon GC no longer available through Gyft - Alternatives? on: April 08, 2018, 07:25:01 PM
This is the Copay wallet? I'll check that out. Although now that I know US/Canada is cut off from gift card resellers but the rest of the world isn't, I hope they don't send me codes that can't be used in the US.

yep.

they're pretty quick to shut things down, their cards were gone and everyone was told ASAP, so i'd be surprised if they'd leave it in there. i'd certainly email them before buying anything though.
463  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Amazon GC no longer available through Gyft - Alternatives? on: April 07, 2018, 11:01:41 PM
Any reason provided for why they shut down? Was it really because of Amazon's ban on third party sellers? I used Gyft I think around a year ago and the process was probably the smoothest I've used for a gift card purchase using bitcoin. Sad to see them let go of AGC purchases, though.

i can't find a reason myself. and it only applies to amazon america and canada. you can buy gift cards for other branches of amazon just fine.

the amazon US gift card option is still in the copay wallet and there's no message about it being stopped.
464  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: End of road for Cryptocurrencies in INDIA? on: April 07, 2018, 12:08:23 PM
They may have a small contribution for now but u cant deny that ,with such a huge mass they have a great potential to b a big contributer in future.
and if they are banned from using it ,it will certainly send a bad message in other countries for sure

that potential is now gone. there won't be any contributions. there's no point imagining what might have been.

anyone surprised by this is crazy. india prohibits gold importation and was happy to destroy the wealth of a huge percentage of their population to force them out of cash. i'm surprised it took them this long.

if i were any type of crypto investor i would never have gone anywhere near india because a move like this was so obviously going to happen.
465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: End of road for Cryptocurrencies in INDIA? on: April 07, 2018, 12:00:42 PM
We could expect another fall of bitcoin's price in the coming week whether we like it or not because India had a lot of people who are engage in crypto and also own cryptocurrency. I guess they are now on a silent mode and monitoring the news and waiting what would happen in the coming days.

outside india no one cares. india counts for nothing in this market. volumes are negligible. there are no significant indian services. no development comes out of there. no one there is mining.

we may miss it in the future, but then again you can't miss what you never had.
466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Impact of George Soros trading Crypto on: April 07, 2018, 11:54:22 AM
it's a sign that things are maturing. with that maturing comes all the professional vultures looking to maximise gains no matter what they have to do to get them.

it may suck big time for coin holders but this is what happens when the real world comes calling. as a guess the impact will make the rest of us sad.
467  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Amazon GC no longer available through Gyft - Alternatives? on: April 07, 2018, 10:34:44 AM
however, it seems like eGifter left a loophole (in the US only). they say you can still buy amazon gift cards using "an 'eGifter swap' performed by a gift recipient." here's how that works:

Quote
When you receive a gift card on eGifter as a gift from someone else, you can exchange the gift card brand they sent you for another gift card brand, including Amazon.com. To do this, click the “Exchange Gift” button on the gift before you claim it. Upon verifying that you want to exchange the brand you received, you will have an eGifter Swap Card that you can use for any gift card of the same value available on eGifter.

The only current limitation for using an eGifter Swap Card is if you select Amazon.com.  In this case, the Amazon.com card cannot exceed the value of the eGifter Swap card. Additionally, if you combine other brand gift cards with Amazon.com in your eGifter shopping cart, you will only be able to use the following payment methods at checkout:

i haven't tried it, but it looks like you can still buy most gift cards with bitcoin, then "gift it to yourself" (different account) and then swap it. my friend swears by eGifter and has put thousands through it, so i might try this out next time i need one.

looks like a pretty convoluted hack but i guess it doesn't matter if they piss amazon off any more.

i can't quite figure the ins and outs of that though. are you buying a gift card through them bought by someone from outside the site? that's a no for me.
468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: End of road for Cryptocurrencies in INDIA? on: April 07, 2018, 10:30:36 AM
it's never good to lose a market, that's if any of this is true. so many people here are too stupid to interpret things correctly.

at least it's a market that has little to no bearing on bitcoin as a whole. right now in all of india there are 27 full nodes and i've never heard anyone talk about its market having any importance.
469  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Amazon GC no longer available through Gyft - Alternatives? on: April 06, 2018, 11:36:02 PM
this has nothing to do with bitcoin or any individual company, a short while back amazon US and canada completely stopped third party companies selling gift cards. doesn't matter if it's for dollars or bitcoin. for americans they have to buy from private sellers or amazon.

amazon elsewhere for some reason still allows third party sales.

470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MailChimp's Ban on Cryptocurrency Marketing Is Causing Collateral Damage on: April 06, 2018, 11:25:47 PM
i can't believe that in this day and age anything relevant and crypto related is delivered by email. i would never open or click on any email with that subject, even if i signed up for the freaking thing.

email is a dead medium for any type of marketing as far as i'm concerned, triply so with crypto.
471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Bitcore- BTX - SEGWIT - hybrid fork 1:0.5 of Bitcoin- 8% Airdrop every week on: April 06, 2018, 11:12:09 PM
I want BitCore BTX on poloniex. Is it possible ?
i want it on Btrex or binance ,better than poloniex

give it some time and i think that desire is gonna be reversed.

at some point binance will either have to get its house fully in order or get its ass kicked. it's treading on some very big toes and maybe malta isn't the magic bullet.

poloniex can only go one way which is - up. circle are not gonna throw away that much money and let it remain a pile of crap. i expect it to be setting the standard in a few months.

If there's one thing I've learned from my time in crypto it is that market analysis does not apply in the same way with crypto as it does with other traditional assets.

you bet. the markets and most of the stuff on them are a worthless heap of shit. for some reason it's taking an awful long time for this to dawn on people. one day they'll have real value. there'll have to be a cleansing fire before they do and it'll be apocalyptic.
473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Bitcore- BTX - SEGWIT - hybrid fork 1:0.5 of Bitcoin- 8% Airdrop every week on: April 04, 2018, 10:47:30 PM
I like BTX and all, probably the BEST Bitcoinfork there is, but the fact that it is capped, it is not good in the long run. Value of coin will always go up because of deflation sure, but people are never incentivised to spend it.

An exact inverse is Crypterium, where there is a fixed supply, and with every transaction, a small amount is burned, and coin supply will always go down. Which will also increase value. At least they have a system in place to incentivise spending.

However that is also not the solution, because theoretically, you will end up someday with a coin supply of 1, and when cosnidering you got 18 decimals, you could go further and use the system, it will get messy in the end. You would have a 1 coin worth billion of dollars. and people only working with small decimals.
That is still not a valid solution long run.

so you have a problem with a capped supply and the disincentive to spend, but you approve of a coin that burns itself with every single spend?

this is possibly an even dumber idea than freicoin with their demurrage. all people will do is sit around waiting for others to spend it and no one will anywhere.

Erm, guys, i don´t get how to get UBTC. Couldn´t a helpfull soul direct me ? Thanks ! I´m always offtopic, i know, but can´t help myself.

you're too late. you had to send them some bitcoin from the address you're claiming and hand over your ID and blood and even then they'd probably deny it to you. their 'offer' closed a month ago.
475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: April 04, 2018, 01:19:37 PM
Can there be an easy way for converting BlackByteballs in to Byteballs? We read about the bot straight in the customer

it doesn't get any easier than that. there have been some OTC trading threads on here in the past and on slack, but the in client trading is the one. as far as i can tell the chances of them ever being on an exchange in the near future are slim.
476  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 04, 2018, 12:01:51 PM
So we are going to sub 5k soon?

or here's the scenario that no one ever wants to mention but almost always happens - not a great deal.

why does everything have to balance on a light switch? why are people not well rounded enough to acknowledge that the least hysterical option is often the correct one?
477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can you still get rich with crypto? on: April 03, 2018, 03:09:59 PM
yes. absolutely.

what's harder than ever though is sifting through all the crap and selecting something that'll do the job for you.

the market needs a cull and reset. there's far too much noise these days. i kind of pity any newcomers to this. i really wouldn't know where to begin with that any more.

what's even harder is controlling your expectations. people who waited years are the ones who made serious bank. those who panicked in a few days will end up with nothing.
478  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: April 02, 2018, 03:13:57 PM
What happened to you?

become the third owner of that account and have a browse through the PMs.
479  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Ten years have passed, and nobody has figured out a way to use blockchain on: April 02, 2018, 02:45:19 PM
When will that be decided ? What makes you think that if banking technologies have not reached people in the 21st century, they are ready to use cryptocurrency ?  Many of them are still sitting bare-assed on palm trees... Sorry for being rude...

have you been outside the borders of your own country?

smartphones are everywhere. cellular coverage is often better in the ass end of africa than it is in many european cities. again, there've never been landlines so they've made the leap straight to cell phones. it'll be the same for crypto.

and it's not a case of banking not reaching places, it's being actively denied in places.
480  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: A Poll on Blockchain.info on What You Use it For. The Rest Earn 2 Merits Each! on: April 02, 2018, 02:05:44 PM
threw my vote in.

i started off using it and walked away a few years ago. i'll never use it again either.

these days i see absolutely no reason to use it when we're overloaded with so many other more foolproof options. i'm sure blockchain.info know their stuff when it comes to security. i don't so i'll shop elsewhere. people seem to forget that it's always their side that's the vulnerable one and there's nothing blockchain.info can do about that.
