462  Economy / Reputation / Re: Warning: I don't use telegram! The Pharmacist impersonator is active there on: December 29, 2020, 04:37:53 AM
It should be the default assumption that doing business outside of the forum with someone claiming (but not proving) to be a reputable Bitcointalk member is about as stupid as claiming a win in a lottery you never bought a ticket for.
Unfortunately, what should be the case and what is the case are often two very different things.

I have decreasingly little sympathy for people still falling for that shit and can't help but think this is best left for Darwin to sort out.
That might be the case if the victims didn't try to blame the innocent users who were impersonated. Certainly I don't want to ever have to deal with that, hence the warning in my signature.
463  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: The Pharmacist scammed me on: December 27, 2020, 06:49:40 AM
Sigh. Again with the Telegram imposters. OP, I'm sorry you had to learn this the hard way, but anyone on Telegram can claim to be anyone else and delete all evidence of wrongdoing after the fact. I'd mention that I'm paying The Pharmacist a fair amount to display my avatar, and that he therefore has no reason to scam anyone out of such a (relatively) small sum as €30, but such character references technically don't disprove anything. Instead I'll just ask you to read the warning in my signature, and head it from now on when dealing with anyone claiming to be a high-profile member.
464  Other / Off-topic / Re: USB External Harddisk warning related to water on table ! on: December 24, 2020, 04:05:28 AM
Anybody know what happens if water reaches the usb connector ?
Only the connector? Not much happens in that case. Electricity follows the path of least resistance (to grossly oversimplify) resulting in it flowing through the water instead of your hard drive's power supply, causing at worst a temporary loss of power to the drive and possibly the whole USB bus (knocking out all connected USB devices). In that case, just turn off your computer and dry everything out before restarting and everything should be good as new. It's unlikely you'll cause permanent damage that way.

But before you go using your hard drive as a coaster, note that if any water enters the hard drive itself, it's a whole 'nother story, assuming it's an actual hard drive and not an SSD*. In that case, the internal mechanical components can be seriously damaged, and the disk surface itself can be corroded, rendering your data irrecoverable.

*SSDs, including flash drives and memory cards, are pretty much indestructible, and on more than one occasion I've accidentally left one in my pocket while doing laundry with no ill effect (in my defence, they're getting smaller all the time).

Still what's the role for the girl in blue ?
You mean you've never heard of Australian kissing? It's like French kissing, but down under. Wink

I don't think this is something being done for fun as the black hat person is lighting up fire to give a death torture to a girl. obviously, you can make any sort of story from your imagination.
Don't be absurd. He's just helpfully lighting the fish man's cigar with the burning money. (You should never light a good cigar with a lighter; lighter fluid imparts a foul flavour to the cigar. Always use a wooden match, butane torch, or if neither are available, money.)
468  Economy / Services / Re: LoyceV's Avatar for Rent [first 🦊YEAR🦊 (91 weeks) rented out] on: December 18, 2020, 07:47:15 AM
Since I don't (yet) have any 30 year old whisky lying around, to celebrate AU$30K I am drinking two Glenfiddich 15YO Solera Reserves*: one old (left), one new (right):

To be honest, I'm not a fan of the new bottle design, especially the label. It's just too modern. As for the contents of the bottles, which is all that really matters, they are both quite similar, with the light fruitiness and spice that Glenfiddich is known for, though the new bottling is slightly more fruity and less spicy, and a bit smoother overall (no doubt more ex-sherry casks and less virgin casks). Almost disappointingly so; I much prefer the extra spice and intensity of the old bottling, which is vaguely reminiscent of a good American rye whiskey. Or maybe it's just a case of They Changed It, Now It Sucks (warning: TV Tropes link). The new version is still good (especially for the price), just maybe not as good as the old version.

*Yes, the solera aging process means a miniscule fraction of the whisky in this blend is indeed over 30 years old (37 in the case of the new bottling), so I could have just drunk one on a technicality, but that just wouldn't be right. Smiley

It's just another shameless display of casual racism. That Indian fellow should be snorting a line of coke off one of the girls' buttcracks or something, not sitting in the corner looking sad for not being included. Seriously, why are only the white people having fun? It's disgraceful! Angry

At the risk of ruining the joke if you're actually trolling and not merely stupid (it's getting harder to tell these days), I'd like you to check whether the word "satire" appears in the latest edition of the OED.
473  Other / Off-topic / Re: Need to archive my mails on: December 08, 2020, 07:48:06 AM
You can download a complete archive of all your email messages (in zipped mbox format) for import into other email clients at Google Takeout (which also provides data for all other Google services; just deselect everything except Mail (and Contacts if you need to transfer those as well)).
474  Economy / Reputation / Re: Imagine if you wouldn't have a block button ? on: December 07, 2020, 05:43:09 AM
What would you do meeting me in person and trying to silence me ?
Call the cops and tell them there's a deranged lunatic on the loose. They get paid to deal with you people; I don't.

Or what would be the outcome ?
You'd probably just get probation if it's a first offence and a psychiatric evaluation determines you're not dangerous, but the point is that your behaviour would never be tolerated in the real world.

476  Other / Politics & Society / Re: UK has approved Covid Vaccine - Will you take it if you’re in UK? on: December 02, 2020, 10:38:26 AM
If vaccines actually worked, then it wouldn't matter if some people refused them, as the vaxed woud be immune.
Vaccines do not provide 100% immunity, and some people (eg those with immune disorders) cannot be vaccinated at all. Thus many people remain at risk of infection and rely on everyone else being vaccinated to prevent the spread of disease.
477  Other / Politics & Society / Re: UK has approved Covid Vaccine - Will you take it if you’re in UK? on: December 02, 2020, 10:12:58 AM
I would not inject these vaccines, and hence I wanted to know from members who’re from UK will you’ll inject this vaccine into your body?.
I'm not from the UK, but I can say that I definitely won't be injecting this vaccine into my body. The last time I injected myself with a vaccine, I had a Hell of a time convincing my doctor to update my vaccination record, since I had no evidence other than the empty vial to prove I had actually taken it, and he wasn't happy about it at all. From now on, I'll let him inject the vaccines, and save self-injection for drugs that don't require his involvement. Cool

(Anti-vaxxers can all go to Hell, and probably will soon enough; I just wish they wouldn't take so many others with them. Angry)
478  Other / Meta / Re: Are fine artworks in European museums deemed “NSFW” by forum rules? on: November 30, 2020, 04:24:50 AM
For reasons that you have succinctly described from your own viewpoint, I really do not understand the “NSFW” rule.  Rules are supposed to be understandable to the ordinary intelligent person.  I believe that I meet or exceed that description; and yet, I seem unable to use my usual mind-reading powers to guess what a moderator will declare “Not Safe For Work”, vague as the term is.
I don't suppose it ever occurred to you to simply ask what is and isn't appropriate, as I did when attempting to determine whether my contest entry was acceptable.

You are unfair to “Western society”.  It is a Christian issue, and most of all an issue of the persistent influences of certain denominations of Christianity—not a Western cultural issue.
When I said "Western society", you know perfectly well that I meant current Western society, which I'm well aware has been negatively influenced by religious conservatives. You can spare me the art history lesson.

You probably disagree with me about many things; for example, I infer that you would hate this post of mine and its followup(← ⚠ WARNING:  Links contain artistic nudity—i.e., a nude statue of Napoleon’s sister as Venus Victrix—and are likely offensive to Foxpup!)
I'm only offended by your apparent confusion about how drag performance works: Conchita Wurst is not a man in a dress; she is a fictional bearded lady, who is played by a man in a dress (Thomas Neuwirth) - and the dress itself is merely a stage costume. It just makes it really hard to take you seriously when you start conflating actors with the roles they play. Undecided

Verified. The forum proxy is not doing any weird alterations/conversions/optimisations.

  • The image does not depict nudity, not even cartoon nudity.  I had assumed that it did.  Beneath the black bars, I could not see that the genital area and nipples are (barely) covered.
  • The image is what I myself consider to be distasteful.  I already knew that; but I could not say by how much, without seeing the uncensored image.
Thank you. "Distasteful" is exactly what I was going for with that piece. Grin Though if tasteful nudity is more your thing, I've done that too: IsFoxpupStillANSFWVixen.today (even more NSFW) (Graciously hosted on loyce.club, so no Cloudflare nonsense, unless there's something LoyceV's not telling me.) Again, I've never posted that link on this forum without a NSFW tag, which is how I get away with this sort of thing; tastefulness counts for nothing.
480  Other / Meta / Re: Are fine artworks in European museums deemed “NSFW” by forum rules? on: November 29, 2020, 03:17:54 AM
—Let’s not go that way.  I will defend others’ posting of non-pornographic images, whether or not they are to my taste; and I find it regrettable that I even need to ask if forum policy prohibits the following image, which depicts male genitalia, and is hereby hotlinked directly from the Vatican Museums at a .va Internet address.  The whole of Vatican City is the Pope’s workplace, subject to Catholic law; thus, this is “SFW” for the Pope.
In light of recent events, I don't think the Catholic Church should be held up as an example of what kinds of genitalia are appropriate to look at. Undecided

It is not porn.  It would be very foolish to claim that it is porn; this is not even a borderline, arguable question, such as with art-nude photography of a more or less sensual nature.  I reasonably interpreted “NSFW” as a euphemism for porn, or almost-porn, or arguably-porn.  —What does “NSFW” mean?
NSFW is not, and never has been, a euphemism for porn (or anything else). It has the plain meaning of the words: anything that is not safe to look at in at least some workplaces because it could get you fired. That category includes a lot more than just porn (but often does not include text regardless of content, because everyone knows that managers are functionally illiterate too polite to read over their employees' shoulders.)

I tried to look, so as better to understand your objection to forum policy.  Cloudflare threw me a Google CAPTCHA.  I don’t do those anymore, especially not for read-only viewing of a web resource.
Sorry. In my defence, it's becoming increasingly difficult to find image hosting sites that a) allow NSFW art; b) allow hotlinking; c) don't resize/recompress/otherwise mangle the original file; d) don't use Cloudflare or anything worse; and e) don't do anything even more obnoxious that I haven't listed. Here it is via the forum's image proxy: ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fd.facdn.net%2Fart%2Ffoxpup%2F1572178064%2F1572178017.foxpup_btcntlk10yrs.png&t=619&c=82s3t2f-vi7JLA (NSFW)

My objection to forum policy is not so much that it reflects Western society's unhealthy obsession with genitalia and "female-presenting" nipples, but more that it's applied inconsistently and even in cases where it makes no sense, such as in the art contest.
