Notice, if you use a different hub, the default GUI client will pull the witness list from the hub, so the byteball.fr hub will push its witness. Just a friendly reminder. Actually, when you change the hub, "auto-update witness list from the hub" switches off. At least, it did for me. I switched it back on, and it updated witness list as expected. You don't have to be distrustful of our witness anyway. It is just running Tonych original code. It does serial posting to itself as the 13 other ones (there are 14 Witnesses alive on the network at the moment, see the stats https://byteball.fr/stats.html). To the contrary : witness diversity is a good step toward maturity. Some have already "adopted" our witness to encourage initiative. I know (from him) that SatoNatomato has adopted our witness too (thanks for you support Sato). The only thing everyone should be afraid of is that 6 or more witnesses collude together. Take a minute to think about the following: The maturity of the project will be acheived with witnesses diversity (from captain of industries witnesses and/or community member witnesses). |

Can anybody help me pls?  First everything worked well, but the syncing needed 15+ hours so meanwhile i tried to install a second time to start the lightwallet. After that, suddenly nothing worked anymore. I tried to install and uninstall several times, but suddenly i always get this error after a few seconds: Uncaught exception: Error: known bad

If the hub to which my wallet is pointed to is not reachable for any reason does the wallet automatically switch by itself to another hub?

Does anyone know if one can find some byteball PHP source code ? and if not, does it means that it would be just impossible to do so with php language or is it just a question of time before these php codes could be available ?

Is it safe to change the hub to byteball.fr?? I would like to see how tonych feels about this just curious and I am all for decentralization of witnesses but how does the community decides if a witness is trustworthy?
My opinion, we have to give some support to guys who run witness nodes right now, because they are bleeding their own bytes, and it is so important to decentralize the network. Can you explain how they are bleeding their own bytes? Is this in the case of the hub or witness? Sorry Im new to all this Witnesses spent bytes by unconditional serial posting to themselves (and need to pay for that). Hubs don't. |

I get this on the mail set in the settings of conf.json
Throw some money into KEKYWT35NDA7LA7M23JTXTEZW2U7242I. Witnesses are doing continuous serial posts so they need funds to pay for that (501 bytes per post). |

The initial_witnesses array is used only when your hub starts for the first time.
It seems complicated to have witnesses diversity to emerge unless some major industry player claims he is running a witness and asks for adoption. Although the project adoption looks going well it may take some time for this to come. In the meantime, I beleive we should start to show that the network relies on community independant operated witnesses for at least a portion of the 12 default list (my personnal opinion is 6 over 12). On the project side: I think it is really important for the mass adoption that independant witnesses now show up (would later be spontaneously replaced by thoses of notorious captain of industry when they come in) to guarantee witnessing diversity. On the candidate witness side: unless validating, candidate witnesses are just bleeding byte. It comes, soon or later, quite frustrating and leads to discouraging skilled volunteers. As you know, together with a hub service to the community, I am operating a witness at MEJGDND55XNON7UU3ZKERJIZMMXJTVCV Would you agree on setting up this witness as a default in byteball.org/bb and in the conf.js files on Github as a first step to diversity? (I personnaly choosed to replace the 12th one starting by UENJ) Please take a couple of minutes to think about it. |
