4601  Other / Meta / Re: Is it possible to have a sticky threads for gambling discussions? on: May 06, 2019, 05:54:01 PM
A good gambler must have checked the reputation of the site they gonna use.
I mean a sticky thread should be a combination of certain common sense must be applied when a newbie enters into gambling. This list don't serve any better for the newbie. Some sorts of awareness to avoid being scammed would be a good idea.

Well regardless of the example used in this thread, we cannot deny the fact that the gambling discussion board should have a 'sticky feature' to highlight essential posts and also to prevent thread spamming. Most of the time, there are threads that are repeatedly being created and share the same vein as the other threads only with different wordings.
Implementing a sticky feature will address multiple problems at the same time while benefitting the board in general.

I died at the 'Ben Affleck' one haha! I mean if you are attempting to create a scam project, make sure you input details that are not OBVIOUS. Using an actor's name only makes the matter worse and funny! Good job for spotting this one, OP!

As of now bitcoin, eth at IOST tokens ang hawak ko. Yung iost kinita ko siya last year sa sig campaign at umabot ng 23k ang weekly na value nya that time, bale 6500 iost tokens kasi ang weekly na sahod. Kaya still waiting sa time na worth it na sya para i sell.

Sa nagdaang mababang value ng btc at altcoins meron ba kayong nabili para i hold? Kung meron anong reason bakit mo ito binili?

So far dalawang coins ang HODL ko, Ripple and Bitcoin. I believe na ang Ripple will soar its price in the near future since I acquired it 2 years ago. Till now, nag hihintay lang ako ng tamang opportunity to sell and convert it to cash.

Sa bitcoin naman, since nababayaran ako sa campaign signature ko weekly, I save and use it for my post-graduate funds and books para matulungan ko na din pamilya ko sa mga gastusin. So far, parang bull run na ata ang bitcoin pero nag lalaro ang presyo niya sa P270-P290,000 kaya maganda din ito for day trading.

4604  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Triggers Gambling Addiction on: May 05, 2019, 11:02:34 PM
"Sometimes winning isnt good at all". This is the phrase i always got in my mind whenever i saw someone or read something that pertains to gambling addiction. I see that people are so greedy and do anything to win. My observation is that, people experience winning ofcourse in gambling so they take many chances and risk bets to win again. Either the win rate is just 2 to 3 times per 15 bets, they are still getting hooked on it. Winning even once triggers addiction because people are greedy in nature. There are just people who can control themselves and there are not.

The primary cause of addiction is the satisfaction you get from repeatedly doing your hobby or an activity. But in gambling, it involves the chance to earn/lose money depending on your luck. Addiction primarily starts in the brain and eventually cascades and evolves into a hobby then to being addicted to such.

I disagree, since also losing triggers addiction. That feeling when you lose in a bet will unexpectedly trigger an adrenaline in hoping to recover your losses which ultimately makes your situation worse. Gambling can never be profitable, let alone beneficial when you view it as a means of earning money.
4605  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will they ever find Satoshi Nakamoto? Make your prediction... on: May 05, 2019, 10:15:34 PM
<snip...>

In all honesty, I doubt that the true identity of Satoshi would be known, due to safety and privacy reasons. If I were the creator of a revolutionized payment method that generated billions of dollars in terms of value, I would never tell anyone or let alone do something that will expose my true identity. In fact, the only persons that are obsess with his identity our bitcoin fanatics, as most do not even care about his existence.

4606  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: May 05, 2019, 04:57:52 PM
All it took for rockets to win was getting Eric Gordon to 30 points and play like a maniac and making curry miss all his shots on the over time. This doesn't really look that good for rockets on paper, they had to really pull the plug on the fourth quarter and they could but they failed, this was a needless overtime for them.

Warriors is still the best team in the league but every single day it shows a bit more clearly that if Durant leaves one day (which I believe he will, it doesn't feel like he will retire here) then warriors dynasty will end, they can't really be that good without Durant, they will be alright of course but not this good and certainly not the guaranteed finals again, I even think rockets will be better than them if Durant leaves. This is going to be a very tough free agency for warriors, they have to do whatever it takes to keep Durant.

That is actually true. Warriors kinda struggled these past few games with Durant carrying the team with his insane shooting combined with his crossover moves. Rockets showed an impressive game tonight with Gordon hitting those 3s and Harden making those step backs. But the unsung hero here is PJ Tucker who gave his defensive momentum on the team.

Overall, I do agree that Warriors would win this season but they need to address the issue of Durant leaving the team anytime soon (maybe he may sign with Lakers?). By the way, the last second free-dunk of Curry was hilarious! The bench's reaction was unparalleled!
4607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you get your daily crypto fix from? on: May 05, 2019, 06:18:56 AM
Guys, what do you watch and listen to learn more about crypto and blockchain?

Please give me your favorite youtube channels and podcasts

If you are interested in reading books, I recommend reading these two (2) fantastic books as they both covered all the information you need about the fundamentals and processes of bitcoin. The language used may be relatively difficult to understand but they provide real-life examples in order to understand the system clearly, as compared to reading articles online.

  • Blockchain Revolution by Don and Alex Topscott; and
  • Mastering Bitcoin by Andreas M. Antonopoulos

If you are more inclined into watching videos about the blockchain, I recommend this video as it fully exampled and illustrated the blockchain in a easier way to understand for beginners:

4608  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to receive your salary in Bitcoin? on: May 04, 2019, 10:34:19 PM
<snip....>

I am not quite sure if YouTube supports cryptocurrency (bitcoin to be specific) as they do not offer any payments related to bitcoin. For best results, you may ask them through an e-mail if it is possible to convert your hard-earned income to bitcoin for your convenience. If not, you can participate in this forum and provide services to receive bitcoin as a compensation pay.

I always want people to pay my salary in Bitcoin and I think this is good to invest for a long -term while earning money for daily needs. Just make sure not to only hold Bitcoin or cash because you might lose your chance to get some profit from Bitcoin invesment.

Having your income fully converted to bitcoin may be relatively risky since the value is highly volatile- which can either make or break your monthly pay. If you want to focus on long-term investments, better diversify your portfolio or ask your employer to at least change 50% of your income to bitcoin. But again, everything is dependent on your employer if he accepts such.
4609  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin goes down, no new rich people anymore on: May 04, 2019, 08:46:43 PM
because bitcoin prices dropped as a result no new rich people arrived suddenly. . . on the contrary, many people go bankrupt because they suffer losses ... haha haahaa

I am pretty sure that most well-off investors diversified their portfolio by investing into different mechanisms and not only on cryptocurrency alone. In fact, the fall on bitcoin's price is also an opportunity to most investors in acquiring bitcoin for either short/long-term goal.

I think they are bankrupt because they are very easy to panic and they have weak hands which means that they cannot hold their assets and maybe he is trading with money that is not managed properly so there are traders who go bankrupt like that.

What most investors fail to realize is the high volatility of cryptocurrencies, in general. The price may either skyrocket or plummet without any warning and it serves as a double-edged sword that is meant to be studied, researched, and observed by investors. There are factors needed to be considered in order to at least mitigate the damage when this typical scenario happens.
4610  Other / Meta / Re: Legendary member gregofdoom ban - moderators please help. on: May 04, 2019, 04:04:40 PM
Like what most have stated, ignorance of the law excuses no one. If the forum moderator were to accept your alibi, that would be prejudicial to all previous users who got banned due to the same offence since retroactivity would apply here.

Since you copy-pasted a document, modified, and posted here in the forum without giving credit, you suffer the consequence of getting permanently banned. Just move on and learn from your mistake OP.
4611  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Any knows the mathematical formula to winning the lottery? on: May 04, 2019, 11:17:18 AM
Have you gambled lottery?
Why Mathematicians aren't riches now in gambling since they know and expert in equation solving finding the x value?
Equation solving in Mathematics are helpful to finds or pick the numbers, how did you know if it is even or odd numbers in right combination?
Is the binomial coefficient formula will really help you to find the right winning combination?

Share your thought here and let's discuss this. Cheesy

According to wikipedia, the probability of a person winning each ticket is 1 in 13,983,8161. Each number you bet has a probability of 1 in 49 which exponentially grows for each number.

Even if someone where to identify a technique that increases his/her chance on winning a ticket, everything still revolves around the odds. Like what others have stated, every mathematician would be a billionaire if that were the case.

4612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be considered a Religion? on: May 04, 2019, 07:42:52 AM
Rather than worshipping Satoshi, almost everyone admires and supports his work of art, which introduced a revolutionary payment system method. Well we cannot escape extremist who literally worships 'Satoshi' but stating that the whole bitcoin work is a religion is too far fetched. I never considered a piece of technology escalating to being worshipped by some.

No, bitcoin is not a religion, though there could be parallels with religion in how some investors behave. For example, this forum has a hierarchy with rules and expectations. The community has its own goals with expectations of behaviors. If people fall short of these expectations, they can get scolded and excommunicated.

Bitcoin can never be a religion. It is a revolutionary piece of technology wherein people are obsessed knowing the true identity of its creator. Although there may be some similarities (like you mentioned), there are still factors to be considered especially that bitcoin has only been in existence less than 15 years.

4614  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does convince people to enjoy gambling is a wrong idea? on: May 02, 2019, 10:05:15 PM
It's probably a wrong idea to ask people to enjoy gambling. Enjoying gambling could easily lead to regular gambling . It pretty much becomes addiction if you don't earn regularly from gambling.
I think that people at the right age, they have their own decision and know how to control their selves from gambling addiction.
I personally didn't convince people in gambling but I do explain for them risky it is and the other possible outcome. Getting profit is really hard in gambling it needs to have patience and of course a bunch of luck. Grin

As long as you properly explained about the consequences of gambling, then I do not find anything wrong about sharing the satisfaction in gambling. Gambling can be fun but frustrating (most of the time) especially when you are on a winning streak. Addiction prospers when you completely change your perspective and view it as a source of income.

Regardless, people who gamble should always know their limitations on their bets. Having the proper discipline and self-control are the primary factors in order to prevent addiction from starting in an individual.
4615  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Future of Trading, losers and winners. on: May 02, 2019, 09:47:42 PM
What will happen if everyone in trading will know all how it works? Like if everyone will become a well-knowledge trader, for example, we will know all how to use different indicators, supports, and resistance, etc. ?  Undecided

Will some people still lose their trade? Who will become loser on every trade if that will happen? It will still profitable to trade?

EDIT: This is "what if" scenario, I don't tell that it will happen exactly.

Although I understood that this is a hypothetical scenario, it is just impossible for the perfect streak to happen. Investors and traders will always buy and sell their coins which compromise the market volume and trade. Without people losing on their trades, no one would also profit.

Cryptocurrencies are a very volatile type of investment, wherein the market is relatively difficult to read and analyze. People over the years have adapted and developed techniques in order to grasp the situation and improve their trades but they still sometimes fall short from their trades. Y

Everything starts with knowing your goals, developing an actual plan, and materializing every step in order to fullfil that current goal. Losing is inevitable so as winning.
4616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy apple iphone with the Bitcoin ? on: May 02, 2019, 09:16:21 PM
Is it possible to buy iphone with the bitcoin ?
Is apple accepting bitcoin in future for the purchase of Iphone?

Everything is possible nowadays, especially that bitcoin has been slowly regarded as an alternative payment for most services/product. You can check the internet if there are third-party websites that accept bitcoin as a payment. If you cannot find anything at the moment, I advise that you convert your bitcoins to cash and then proceed to purchase any apple product that you desire.

This is one of the most disadvantage of cryptocurrency.sellers and buyer knows the price is very volatile so its not profitable for sellers

There are actually merchants that accept bitcoin as an alternative payment despite knowing its volatile nature. It is considered as a double-edged sword as it may go both ways- either profitable or not depending on the situation.
4617  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't read it if you get offended easily. on: May 02, 2019, 03:06:17 PM
In this forum, we make us habit, that we trust only those members who have great position, good trust and one thing is newly and that is Merit, then we trust him. Personally i think we do it right, because why we trust on newbie member? Even you will also not trust any newbie.

Although the forum rank has a bearing on trust, you cannot conclude that all newbies are untrusted and scammers. There are actually newbies trying to contribute and help the forum on their own way, just as like what we did before when we first started.

The problem revolves not on the forum rank per se, but on the post history where they spam threads and create meaningless threads just to fullfil their bounty obligations. That is where most of the hate comes from and not on newbies, in general. It just so happened that most newbies and jr. members participate on bounties.

I am pretty sure that if high ranking members did the same way, they would also receive the same treatment.
4618  Local / Pilipinas / Re: How filipino traits contribute to promoting cryptocurrency on: May 02, 2019, 01:13:18 PM
<snip...>

Promoting cryptocurrency is not easy, kase akala ng marame scam lang ang bitcoin at nagnenetworking lang tayo which is may bad image when it comes to investment. Pero if we are able to tell them the truth about bitcoin for sure maeenganyo sila na maginvest at pasasalamatan nila tayo. Just continue to help nalang without asking anything, you will be blessed for sure because of doing good things.

4619  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What causes a person to become intensely addicted to gambling? on: May 02, 2019, 11:26:19 AM
because......

any choice in every bodies’ life is actually a gambling…

choose a wise husband from a bunch of boys is a gambling
choose a school to study is a gambling
choose a boss to work with is a gambling

so, gambling is addictive…

no one can escape...

Simple, the rewards and the money. Winning/losing in a gambling game can hamper hamper your decision making skills since you are blinded with the hope of winning money. Regardless of the results of your game (either you win or lose), the result would still be the same- you will still play the game.

In gambling, one must possess discipline and self-control over the temptations in the environment. Setting limitations can significantly provide you with the necessary help over the addiction but change really comes from the mind and the will.
