481  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Ann]Purchase ASIC chips and assembly now: 2,457 chips left. on: May 27, 2013, 01:21:08 AM
You are not taking into account that a portion of the people ordering will simply take delivery of the chips.

I that case, you'll have to rely on Avalon's testing.

To quote Steamboat:

"Though Avalon has stated each chip will be tested prior to shipping, there are concerns regarding chip failure rates from batch purchases. The following solution will be adopted in the event faulty chips are discovered.
For future orders:
All customer orders after the timestamp of this post will be responsible for purchasing any additional chips required to ensure the completion of the requested number of assembled units. The amount of additional chips required is based solely on the discretion of the purchaser, and their personal anticipated failure rate of the Avalon chips. Some members of the community have suggested between one and five percent as an acceptable range to mitigate the risk of receiving a faulty chip."

________________________________

So, at least to my mind, if you're just taking delivery of the chips, then you are not completing assembled units, through Steamboat at the time, so you're just taking your chances buying the chips.

I'm sure somebody can correct me if I'm wrong.

Of course, if you don't want your chips, I will gladly take them off your hands for what you paid for them. I won't even ask you to test them.  Grin

Technically, we are all investors, and the Klondike is a prototype product.

Hey, if one or two of my chips on a couple of my future Klondikes is not working, but most of the rest of it is, I figure I will be well ahead of BFL customers anyway.

As far as I'm concerned, Steamboat is carrying the same level of risk, if not more, than any of us.

So, to my mind, there is no way anybody can guarantee your 1-16 boards (or more), will be 100% working. Certainly, the ideal will be that they will be, but if its close, you'll be well ahead of BFL anyway.

Just sent you payment for 48 chips (4.128 BTC).

Email sent.
484  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Advice for PSU Ax, Cx, Tx, or Hx of Corsair .... on: May 26, 2013, 02:28:54 PM
Newegg always has something on sale.

All of mine are coolermaster or corsair.

The bigger Rosewills (750+) seem to be good also.

Modular is more expensive, but they generally seem to use higher quality components.

Well, thanks a bunch.

I guess between my nOObness with the {} brackets, and the contact page not working, and the stats not updating right, things got pretty confusing.

Thanks a lot for working on the issues. I'm sorry if I sounded too harsh.

I appreciate it.

Very useful.

Thank you very much.

Ok.

I think it was my fault? (maybe), because I'm a total nOOb...well, that fact is for sure... Grin

I had my cgminer mining address in between {brackets}.

I just removed the brackets, and I think that makes it valid now?Huh I have no stinking clue.

The instructions had brackets in there, so I just assumed I had to keep my address in between the stinking brackets.

I can't tell the difference just looking at cg miner, if the pool is recording it or not..

I have no clue. Anyway, I sent you my IP addy, and I mined a little tonight using it. So if you would check the logs for tonight, and tell me if it's recording it, I would appreciate it.

Like I said, if it's my fault, I'll be the first one to admit it.

I am definitely mining with a valid user name, like the instructions said, my payout address.

I'm not trolling. I used the contact form on the webpage. This one:  http://www.eligius.st/~gateway/contact

Your webpage for contacts is either broken, your update system is broken, and your payout system needs work. I put in my info including my payout address, into the information I submitted via your form. It's been, I think, about 3 days since I contacted you, maybe two....not really sure.

Here is the address I used:  16az7UBGMVVKjPQ8NECZKp5mhW1Y5LPen9

If I did something wrong, I am more than willing to admit it. It would be nice if other people did the same, since I know I'm not perfect.  Grin From what I can see, my cgminer works just fine, and apparently is working just fine, for another pool.

Id does not look like Eligius is very interested in anybody unless they have Gigahashes of hashing power, so apparently little new guys are not welcome there.

Again, really dissapointing. I thought it was a nice community, until now.

Sorry, but I cannot recommend this pool.

Been mining for 5 days, at roughly 600-800 MH/s....my address had not shown up in stats, the stats have not updated, at all.

I did a search for my address, stats server apparently hasn't updated in 5 days.

E-mailed using the contact info to the pool operator on website... no response in 3 days.

No BTC payout, no contacts, no updates, no nothing.

Very dissapointing, especially to a new guy starting out.

Beware.
491  Economy / Economics / Re: Nikkei in free fall (-7.3%) on: May 24, 2013, 12:11:57 AM
Yeah, printing money like mad will lift the stock markets because of devaluation.

However, devaluation will cause investors to sell government bonds, thus driving up the % yield on those bonds, and driving down the price.

There is more debt (government bonds), in Japan than the entire value of the Nikkei index 10 times over.

When there is a push, bonds win, and stock markets lose.

Smart people are selling Japanese government bonds, and taking their money and putting it into Bitcoin.

Oops...I gave away my investing strategy...

Darned it !

You need some good alcohol this Memorial Day weekend for all your hard work.

Yes, I know you're not in the US, but anyway...sent you 0.321 BTC.

Go buy yourself some good shiznit. You've earned it.

494  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Ann]Purchase ASIC now: 644 remaining before purchase on: May 22, 2013, 03:55:59 PM
32 more chips for batch 3 please. Email and btc sent.

Thanks.

495  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Avalon Batch #1 ASIC on: May 22, 2013, 12:04:34 PM
At the price of some current auctions, 100+ btc, it would take over 7 months at the current difficulty level to get your money back.

And we all know the difficulty level will increase.

Caveat emptor.
496  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: New Asics selling site on: May 22, 2013, 12:02:21 PM
Thanks, but at the rate new sites to sell pre-orders are popping up, it seems like it would just be better to make a new site and sell pre-orders, than to actually have the mining equipment on hand to make bitcoins.

LOL.

How many of them are scammers?

I have some nice potential beach front property in Arizona to sell also. California will fall into the ocean soon !

Well, it happens during playing a game also, if I start mining.

500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Paying .05btc for Good 7950 drivers (ReOPEN!!) on: May 20, 2013, 02:51:54 AM
Thanks SkyNet, this is the same issue I'm having.

I rolled back to 12.8 from 13.1 but I did install the sdk, and I'm still having a blue screen crash on a fresh install of Win 7, with nothing else on there but cg miner and windows.

I will try to reinstall the 12.8 drivers without the sdk and see how it works.

On mine, cg miner crashes  right away with a turquoise (not blue) screen almost as soon as it starts processing a few blocks.

Weird. This is really pissing me off. Clean machine, new install, and still a crash...grrrrrr...
