More fail by BitcoinExpress. No wonder. CPU mining is here to stay Oops, you posted with the wrong account So Bulanula, why is it that your are so hostile to BitcoinExpress? theory: He's a douche bag? Hi Retard, We'll see who's talking crap when CH/RS decides to put SC 2.0 on the table. A day or so ago he was here talking his usual line of garbage, showing us PS'd screen shots of a testnet and squawking about how it was 51% and BCX proof right up until realized that I had already tested a CPU only chain killer on Fairbrix. He didn't seem too anxious to put his bullet proof testnet up and scampered away like usual. I noticed all you devout CoinRumper Butt Buddies seem to forget the most important thing. SC 2.0 is still talk and very much non existent. I am curious. Did you have something against Fairbrix that you don't have against Tenebrix?

I am not the center of the Fairbrix universe in any way that I'm aware of.

Well, when a block is generated, the block explorer indicates that it goes to an address, with an amount of 25.
If one searches such address, they find the generated block. I just assumed that mining a block was a form of receipt which would show up in the explorer.
If my receiving address in the client is fL8P1QjhrwCmFQ4yLiVsDpAENXoQvzWXLR, should that show in the block explorer?
Not until you actually receive somthing with it. Addresses only show up in the block explorer when they exist in the block chain, which only happens when they have at least one transaction. http://blockexplorer.sytes.net/address/fL8P1QjhrwCmFQ4yLiVsDpAENXoQvzWXLRSo mined blocks don't count then?

My block addresses on this computer finally look in line with that of the block explorer..... If my receiving address in the client is fL8P1QjhrwCmFQ4yLiVsDpAENXoQvzWXLR, should that show in the block explorer? It says address not seen when I search it.

I don't know why anyone would mine that. For all I know, it's still producing blocks with 0 coins. If you wish to mine Fairbrix, https://github.com/coblee/Fairbrix is the one to use.
Is there any reason why my addresses are not found on the block explorer?
I have a connect of 3, 2300 blocks but doesn't seem to increase further. Is it normal or is there any issues? I have opened the port.
I've got 6 with blocked ports and blocks are downloading normally. 5706 blocks right now.

So what I want is to see if Fairbrix can stand on its own. See if people are willing to mine it without an exchange in sight. If people believe in the cpu-based mining concept without the premining, then they will continue to mine fairbrix... similar to how people mined bitcoins without an exchange early on. And if that happens, then it will become a viable alternative to bitcoin.
Any chance we could get a clear set of directions on how to do that with a Windows machine? http://www.mediafire.com/?9gc28oo1s00lhhzDownload that and unzip it. Double click "Start-Fairbrix". After the client is running, double click the batch file "Start-mining". You'll be mining Fairbrix in minutes.

Below is the relaunch announcement... Since the original fairbrix launch crashed and burned, michaelmclees asked me to help him relaunch it. While working on it, I decided to improve it by moving the fairbrix configuration values into the source code. This way, you don't need a conf file to run the client. You only need to specify a rpcpassword if you want to point your miner to it. So it will be harder for people to mess things up. Anyways, here's the source: https://github.com/coblee/FairbrixCopy the fbx.conf file to: Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\fairbrix Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/fairbrix Unix: ~/.fairbrix Windows binary: http://www.mediafire.com/?9gc28oo1s00lhhzYou can use the same Tenebrix miner: https://github.com/Lolcust/Tenebrix-minerP.S. The coin was launched with ~100 premined blocks. I thought Fairbrix was dead. I was wrong, it seems and it is still fighting for life. As it stands now, there is still a significant number of people running the client and mining. I was unaware of this. We're about to hit 5,000 blocks. So right now, you can download the files linked above (if you don't have them) and run the client without issue. You can mine without issue, and so far, people are keeping their generated blocks without issue. Another attack could come. But if there is no attack, the thief's wallet will be trivial in no time, and if enough people get on board, future attacks become more difficult. I can only assume that people still mining just don't really care about the stolen blocks. And if the rest of the network doesn't care... why should I? Is this a case of Fairbrix is dead, long live Fairbrix?

Thank you for looking into this. From what you're saying, it doesn't look like different build conflicting with each other, but rather an intentional fork.
Do you believe that another relaunch, this time with proper announcements and builds for everyone, would crack the nut against potential attackers? Or is this proof that new chains are so subject to attack that it just isn't worth it?

As those of you who keep an eye on this thread know, I recently led a Tenebrix spinoff, Fairbrix, project. There is likely some confusion as to what happened.
First, I would like to make clear that I am not a programmer. I don't understand much of what is involved in the creating of Bitcoin-style cryptocurrencies. That said, there were a few people who helped me along the way, doing most of the work, if I'm honest. As far as I'm concerned, none of them intentionally misprogrammed anything or attempted to attack Fairbrix after either release.
So do we think what happened? The initial release was flawed, in that a programming error made every found block after 100 worthless. Why was this not found earlier? I was attempting to resolve the problem of premining. Instead of mining lots of blocks myself or loading the genesis block with millions of coins, I tried to keep the promise I had made that as many people as possible could mine the initial coins before things got difficult. In retrospect, this was a mistake, as mining the 150 blocks as I said I would, would have revealed the problem.
After the problem was discovered, we had a chat in IRC about it and decided to re-release Fairbrix, this time with the blocks after 100 properly generating coins. Unfortunately, the release was not accompanied by a good (easy) Windows release. Linux users and those familiar with Git (I am not) began to mine away, confirming that the new code was good. Later, a successful Windows build was released.
By this time, many of the initial users were still working with the original release, and others, growing frustrated with the haphazard nature of the release, gave up altogether. These things combined meant that an inadequate amount of hashing power was being devoted to the Fairbrix re-release.
At some point, someone with significant power attacked the chain, forking it, and invalidating everyone else's coins. And here we are.
I expect a better release, under a new name to come. It will be properly tested and released to thwart potential attackers. Stay tuned.

Well, part of the appeal of CPU mining is simplicity. That was part of the goal for Fairbrix. A zip file with all the compiled code helps with that.
Any way to get a zip for us Windows users?

May have been a good idea to premine further after all! There's some irony for you.
No joke...

>I am using windows 7 and getting this same error. What should I do?
Same thing here. I'm new to mining. Not sure if it is an error or what's going on with it.
Try using the other batch file to mine. There is a problem with the code so you may want to hold off for a bit.

I am getting the same error of blocks with 0 mined in Windows.

Did I fail to delete something before releasing?

Don't download or mine with the current client. An error in the config file has caused all blocks past 100 mined to generate 0 coins. Please wait for further notice so proper code can be released. Announcing a new alternative cryptocurrency - Fairbrix First, many thanks to Lolcust, EskimoBob, and ArtForz for helping me out with this. About this new currency... This chain is much like Tenebrix, which is difficult to mine with GPU's. The major difference is, this chain has no loaded Genesis block. I have mined a few blocks along with EskimoBob, to verify the system works. The following link will take you to a zip download for Windows. removed The source will be forthcoming, so if you're not comfortable using this until it is open for all to see on GitHub, you'll only need to wait a bit. Update - 10-2-11 - A new client has been launched that solved the initial problems. Please see this thread for details. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=46528.0
For Windows users, you can get the new client here... http://www.mediafire.com/?9gc28oo1s00lhhz
