quick question about the investing on dadice, what do the (.5, 1, 2, etc) kelly units mean? would like to put in a small mount for fun but no idea how this works.
482  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: How faucets make money? on: May 12, 2015, 11:24:10 PM
Most faucets have a loss, not to make money.

Where are you getting this fact?   I think if they make no money they would shut down.

The big ones especially I think are making profits.  Granted it's very small per person, but still a profit.

the big ones for sure are making big profits, like freebitco.in, multiple ads and around 1000 satoshi per claim hourly, and pays out multiple btc weekly. to output that much whoever runs the site is making even more.

VP getting utterly stomped on overpass by LGB, completely unexpected, but it happens.
I'm starting to follow your bets.  Do you think betting on eSports is a good idea?  I feel like it's easier to throw in an online game compared to a physical sport, so that's why I'm wondering if I should bet a good amount of bitcoins in esports.

The potential ROI in e-sports is way higher compated to 'real' sports (for now), just because there are a lot more square bettors who move the lines and not a lot of sharp competition.

In real sports, its extremely hard to find value because all +ev spots are dissapearing really fast after the lines come up, as a result of all sharp money with statistical models behind them jumping on them as long as they are profitable.

You are also mistaken in your feeling thats its easier to throw in online game compared to a physical sport. I would argue that the reverse is actually way more true.
Really?  I'm finding it that there are many teams that throw - in fact - I heard that some of them throw just because they bet on themselves to lose.
But anyways, I'll try my luck and bet on your bets now!  Will get back to you.

yes, that wouldve been the huge ibuypower scandal a few months back, i believe they made a shitload of money off of that too, steel has stated on stream that he has made 100k usd from matchfixing. however, tier 1 teams and most tier 2 teams do not throw afaik. there are incidents where teams that get listed on lounge for the first time have a tendancy to do so, but more often then not they dont care enough to throw (see onlinebots and stormberg incident)

uunfortunately, TSM got cocky(?) and decided to go t side first on overpass after winning the knife round, and ended up not doing so well. Don't know what happened, but was not expecting this, lot of upset victories from underdog teams today as well.
in addition, fairlay gives the count of mbtc won within the last week, so ill be using that. Also will be restarting the count for units and whatnot, unit size is still 4mbtc, bankroll is at 0.2 btc. from some betslips i placed earlier, i think my bankroll is at ~0.23 right now, not counting the winnings from nitrogen.

quick update as well, second map for titan v mouz has been rescheduled.
485  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where can I invest? on: May 12, 2015, 08:14:23 PM
don't know if someone's already said this, but investing in popular dice sites with bitcoin may be a great idea; youll contribute to the site's bankroll and be paid a comission of the site''s winnings for it. he dice site in my signature, dadice, is pretty popular and offers an easy to use investing option.
486  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: How faucets make money? on: May 12, 2015, 08:11:36 PM
I see them as a bad way to earn money from only Advertising

as much as you would think otherwise, all the money the faucets make are from advertising; the faucets make more for giving 1 view of the numerous ads on the page than they give to you for claiming.

488  Economy / Services / Re: ELO BOOST on League Of Legends (Escrow accepted) on: May 12, 2015, 07:54:23 PM
How much for boosting from Bronze 1 to Silver 3?  Just wondering, in courtesy of a friend.  Hoping that it's not as much as all those other eloboosting services on the internet.

I think you should edit in some prices to the OP, might help attract more customers if they know the pricing beforehand without having to contact you, just my 2 cents.

love the minimalistic design of the site, if there are plans for a mobile version of the site, which I could definitely see working with the current design, I would be more than happy to try it out.
unfortunately I don't gamble much outside of sportsbooks.

you call minesweeper design minimalistic? its one of the best and most detailed designs ever as for mobile version i think they will surely need to have it

maybe minimalistic was a bad choice of words on my part, but it definitely has a good design to be implemented into a mobile version. it just looks "right" to have a mobile version of it, you feel me?
490  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Most Popular & Trusted Bitcoin Game | Huge Community | Free BTC on: May 12, 2015, 07:42:57 PM
this bitcoin gambling site always make me happy with its smooth surfing and i losse here very low bitcoin in compared with other bitcoin gambling site...cheers recently i losse 0.001btc :p and won 0.005btc

It seems I have same experience with having profit by playing PD. When first attempt, I was bet BTC 0.01 with 90% I thought it was easy to make it profit. But I was greedy on that time. so I loss at the end.
But I'm still trying to make a profit. So I playing with different ways, just like Hui ever did. Playing 9900x with small chance of winning but provide a huge profit. So I'm deposit BTC 0.01 again and play with 1000 satoshi per bet and I was got lucky because I got BTC 0.099 profit. At least I can chase my loss and turn into profit.  Grin

That's true up to a certain point and I think you are becoming wiser in your betting strategy.  Just always keep in mind that the longer you play the closer you get to the averages claimed.  So if you make 49.9% bets and a house edge of 1% it doesn't ensure that you'll win 49 or even 48 of the first one hundred bets.  You may have to roll a million times before the averages balance out to an actual 48.9% of wins.  The key is to play as long as you can and to maximize profits during win streaks and minimize losses during loss streaks.

It takes a lot of patience and even means making .00000001 bets very frequently.

gl2u my friend.

this is true, dice gmabling isnt profitable in the long term with the house edge in play, and it should show in the "luck" statistic PD provides. having patience and making 1 satoshi bets as stated above is definitely a great idea to maximize your chances of profit.

bonus pick:
odds changed in between my opening the bet page and pressing confirm, odds are decreasing as i type as well.

hiko will be playing for Nihilum (confirmed on stream, really.), predicting hiko alone will probably outskill all of LG by himself kappa
but really, hes good and will be an amazing addition to the team.

a random few of the bets i placed on fairlay, moving on from nitrogensports, grading takes way too long and fairlay offers better odds.

these free picks were chosen randomly.
a word on fnatic v tsm; tsm seems to have a playstyle that counters fnatic; theyve shown great performances against fnatic in particular, and expect them to win the match, but not betting on a spread because fnatic is fnatic, the best team in the world at the moment.

thanks to both of you for the info, ive already placed some bets and i look forward to betting on fairlay more often!

probably just me being uninformed, but mind explaining the difference between the "covered" and "open" odds? clearly the open odds are better, but i don't quite understand the implications of choosing either one. thanks.
497  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitdice.me it is negative EV for investors on: May 12, 2015, 01:41:45 PM
investing doesn't guarantee profit, but it should, more or less, in the long run given a house edge. what probably happened in your case was someone won big, causing that shirt term investment to be -EV.

registered on here and the odds are definitely better by all means, i just wish the csgo matches were added sooner, still waiting to make my first wager on the site.

Welcome to Fairlay!
We try to avoid empty market or markets with bad odds. So we only add markets as soon as at least one of our market makers offers solid odds on the event. After that it is a free market...

i see, so as nitrogen seems to be having problems right now, there isnt a market for you to base your odds off of
so the matches will be added after one or more of your market sources adds the matches, correct?

That is correct. Hopefully we will have in the future more market makers that come up with there own odds, but currently the mainly aggregate them from other markets.

thanks for the info and quick response, hopefully the games i want to bet on will be up in time for me to bet on them, getting tired of nitrogensports' problems and speeds.
but as magic stated before, having the ability to bet on multiple lines at a time as nitrogen allows would be a huge plus imo as well.
