481  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Are any ASIC miners making ROI anymore? on: July 11, 2014, 10:15:43 AM
Bought 2 BFL 60GH/s ASICs on June 23 2011.  Paid 450 BTC.  They've not even generated half that, and I turned them off a month ago because they stopped making enough to cover electric costs.  1/10 would not buy again.

really?  Cheesy

I think he must have been in line for the preorder for the preorder, right? Roll Eyes

Can't really blame him he unlike so many others would be one of the first people to order from BFL
Before the douchbaggery when they still seemed a bit legitimate as a company lol.

I remember staying awake the whole night before they went on sale constantly refreshing, finally collapsed mid-day and took a 1 hour nap and awoke in a panic - I was able to get a pre-order in, I was about the 50th order and I paid with 210 BTC because the first day they said BTC payments took president over wires and checks. I thought if I could get my miner in a couple of months and be home to mine the second it comes I would be rich (even with $7 BTC).  13 months later the bastards delivered the useless miner. I lost sleep and 210 BTC to get back 15BTC and a bunch of lies.

I even stayed awake all night for Avalon Batch 2 but failed to get one because of the stupid errors.  FML
482  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What about bad pool luck? Or maybe it's something else? on: July 11, 2014, 10:07:53 AM
Well if you look right now they're 10% over expected earnings for the past day.  If they get another block before next shift they'll jump up close to 20% over.
483  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: minimum hardware specs for mining on: July 11, 2014, 10:06:23 AM
People, there is really no need to be mean towards these rookie wanna-be miners.
I guess all of us got into this knowing everything there is to know about mining.

That's either very poorly done sarcasm or you're coming off as an ass without know it.  You can just call them new mining enthusiasts.
484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - Now on Hitbtc.com on: July 11, 2014, 07:43:06 AM
So it looks like there has been a good amount of coin dumping today across several exchanges.  Either some profit taking or the botnet owner is taking funds when he can.

Are you a girl beetcoin? If so I'd totally understand why you don't get it lol Tongue But in truth I'm the same, seeing that will just make me want to go find some porn instead.

The fact that he doesn't get it means he's not a girl.  A girl knows when she can tease a guy and keep him coming back for more.  1/2 clothed women in a social setting actually makes the men more nuts than naked women in the bedroom (well, naked women on TV that you can't touch).

Forgot to add  The Day The Earth Stood Still.  The new one (2008) is more visually thrilling, but the older one is done better.
488  Other / Politics & Society / Re: So.. Chase shutdown my College Checking account on: July 11, 2014, 06:56:17 AM
The best way to get back at them is to have multiple friends open accounts every year when they have the $200 promo with $1500 deposit. In 3 months you get 13% interest basically with no fees.  Close it before the end of the year, wait 6 months and repeat.  I have my friend doing this now after WaMu bounced a rebate check from PNY right as Chase was taking over.  It was out of my control but Chase just decided to close my account.

The US media has lapped up the government narrative. Extremely one-sided.
Significant suffering on both sides that needs to be acknowledged.

The US media is confused in this case.  It's owned by the Jewish counsel, but it has leaned towards supporting everything Muslim in the last 5 years.  Guess the people up top will put their thumbs down.
490  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it normal that Bitcoin Core wallet takes hours to verify blocks and start? on: July 11, 2014, 06:42:58 AM
If you're starting from scratch after a clean wallet install you need to download the whole blockchain (25GB) and have QT index it all.  If you close QT unexpectedly or it crashes the database gets corrupted and it needs to reindex.  Indexing doesn't need bandwidth but really thrashes your drive - so it's much faster on a SSD than a conventional HD.
491  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I discovered a nifty little trick [mining] on: July 11, 2014, 06:38:04 AM
The original Bitcoin-QT had the CPU Miner integrated into it.  GPU mining was then introduced, then FPGA, then ASICs.  Mining through the offline QT wallet is pointless for all but the most unwanted of CPU coins.
492  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin ever reach $1000 dollars again? on: July 11, 2014, 06:35:39 AM
If you only have bitcoins for investment then you bought them from the wrong reasons.

Problem is mostly everyone here expecting bitcoin price to sky-rock.

One of the biggest hurdles for BTC/Cryptos will be ridding itself of people like that IMO, it's truly ruining the concept.

why?

that's good

when people believe the coin will skyrocket
they hold
isn't that good for the price?

The reason it has any value is because it can be accepted and used a currency legally in some areas.  If Litecoin were to be accepted by Amazon tomorrow it's price would shoot up even though the coin's difficulty and distribution stay the same.
493  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Brand new to mining have hardware but No-Clue ??? on: July 11, 2014, 06:31:10 AM
still stuck at mining or no?

update us on where you are at.

Hate this newbie status. Yes still stuck not sure of which version of software would work with windows xp pro 32 bit. CGMiner or BFGMiner??

Before you can try to use the software you need to know if the OS recognized the hardware.  If the OS (win xp in this case) doesn't see the hardware the miner program is irrelevant.  You can also PM Ckolivas or Luke-jr and both of them would be happy to let you know if mining is possible in XP.

money, period.

nothing is more important than money to women

Honey, I have enough money, or more than most guys on here.  I'm looking for a smartass who'll challenge me without being a jackass.
495  Other / Off-topic / Re: Wish from childhood?? on: July 11, 2014, 06:22:32 AM
My childhood wish was I wanted to be a Pilot, I loved airplanes and I wanted to travel the world.

That's weird - when I was a kid I wanted to be a pilot as well.  I probably won't become a commercial pilot but I do have my fixed wing license and am currently working on my heli license - dreams coming true compliments of BTC  Cheesy

man why do asians insist on having swimsuit models at all these tech conventions. i find it funny because it has nothing to do with girls looking sexy, plus all these nerdy guys standing around checking out how chicks is nice.

Because all the tech stuff is made in China/Taiwan.  Look at all the girls in the low-rider magazines, probably not Asian Tongue

The companies hire the girls to be eye candy for the 18-34 male crowd - works every time.
497  Other / Off-topic / Re: iPhone 6 Sapphire Crystal Display! on: July 11, 2014, 06:02:36 AM
apple generally likes to hold back on technology so in the next generation, they can convince you "this changes everything." if they indeed introduce a newer, bigger screen.. i would think they aren't going to give you sapphire glass along with that. that'll have to wait until the iphone 6s.
Indeed. They seem to really like going step-by-step. I don't actually like the idea of making the screen bigger. It's another factor holding me from many other phones as well. I hope they at least keep the 4-inch screen as an option. This is also a good chance to mention how rumors related to the iPhone are pretty much always righ in the end.

4 inches is way too small, and they are only doing it because it's obvious that iphone users generally want a bigger screen.i do agree though, they should offer a 4" iphone and a 4.7" iphone. i would put money on the 4.7" outselling the 4" though.
Yeah, you're probably right. I'd say I'm in the minority who prefers 4-inch screens rather than larger ones. Lots of people have bashed the iPhone for its small screen, yet, I still don't see much appeal in a larger one. I guess it's all just personal preference at this point. I honestly will have to wait and see how easy it would be to handle such screen for myself before completely denying the possibility of getting a larger one.

I used my phone for web-access when I am not able to get to my PC - to remote control PCs.  In those cases not having to pinch and scroll constantly is worlds better.  For just reading text 4" is fine, if you want to do anything interactive on the web with the phone a stylus and some real-estate is necessary.
498  Other / Off-topic / Re: The N Word Prank on: July 11, 2014, 06:00:10 AM
i hate it how (and i speak from experience) that if you call a black person a N word then they get all defensive and its racist but if you call a white person a cracker then its cool and it's just a nickname.

Cracker is offensive and most people would get pretty pissed off if a non-white said it to you, but I don't think you can compare the words. Does the word Cracker have over 200 years of enslavement and murder behind it?

I never understood why black people call each other niggers and get angry if a white guy says it.

How can you not understand it? And probably the majority of black people tend not to be ok with anybody saying it.

I simply can't. If they feel so offended why do they keep using it themselves?

It's also fun to watch them get so angry and combat ready when they hear it Cheesy Most white people just talk back.
Not all of them. None of my black friends ever say it, and when the subject is brought up by someone else, they express disgust towards it.

Those friends of your would be called sell-outs by the very same people who use the N word.  Personally I would rather be a sell-out and not have my ethnicity thought of as some sort of caveman because I can't find more appropriate diction.

Sadly you probably would if you're a girl Sad Tongue throw in a kinky strip tease while you're talking about CPU mining and you'll probably get half a million views or something lol.

Who the hell wants to hear computer nerd jargon while I strip around a pole... on second thought these are Bitcointalk users so...yeah I've been here long enough I'm sure at least 25 of you want that lol

That's any awfully wide range of time for such a superior being.  I'm going to call BS.  Dodge this!
